Monoclinic semiconducting ß-Ga2O3 has drawn attention, particularly because its thin film could be achieved via mechanical exfoliation from bulk crystals, which is analogous to van der Waals materials' behavior. For the transistor devices with exfoliated ß-Ga2O3, the channel direction becomes [010] for in-plane electron transport, which changes to vertical [100] near the source/drain (S/D) contact. Hence, anisotropic transport behavior is certainly worth to study but rarely reported. Here we achieve the vertical [100] direction electron mobility of 4.18 cm2/(V s) from Pt/ß-Ga2O3 Schottky diodes with various thickness via radio frequency-transmission line method (RF-TLM), which is recently developed. The specific contact resistivity (ρc) could also be estimated from RF-TLM, to be 4.72 × 10-5 Ω cm2, which is quite similar to the value (5.25 × 10-5 Ω cm2) from conventional TLM proving the validity of RF-TLM. We also fabricate metal-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MESFETs) to study anisotropic transport behavior and contact resistance (RC). RC-free [010] in-plane mobility appears as high as maximum ∼67 cm2/(V s), extracted from total resistance in MESFETs.

Metamaterials have the powerful ability to freely control multiband electromagnetic (EM) waves through elaborately designed "artificial atoms" and are hence in the limelight in various fields. Typically, camouflage materials manipulate wave-matter interactions to achieve the desired optical properties, in particular, various techniques are used for multiband camouflage materials in both infrared (IR) and microwave (MW) ranges to overcome the scale difference between these bands. However, in the context of components required for microwave communications, simultaneous control of IR emission and MW transmission is required, which is challenging owing to differences in the wave-matter interactions in these two bands. Herein, the state-of-the-art concept of flexible compatible camouflage metasurface (FCCM) is demonstrated, which can manipulate IR signatures while maintaining MW selective transmission simultaneously. For achieving maximum IR tunability and MW selective transmission, it is performed optimization using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Consequently, the FCCM exhibits compatible camouflage performance with both IR signature reduction and MW selective transmission is demonstrated, with 77.7% IR tunability and 93.8% transmission achieved for a flat FCCM. Furthermore, the FCCM reached the 89.8% IR signature reduction effect even in curved situations.

RESUMO

The emergence of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) has introduced significant global challenges for healthcare systems, healthcare professionals and patients. This current climate creates an opportunity to learn from equitable health systems and move toward making fundamental changes to healthcare systems. Our ethnographic analysis of Wakanda's healthcare system in Black Panther, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, offers opportunities for system-level transformation across healthcare settings. We propose four healthcare system themes within the context of Wakandan identity: (1) technology as an instrument (blending bodies and technology, blending technology with tradition); (2) reimagining medication; (3) warfare and rehabilitation; and (4) preventative approaches to health (prioritising collective health, deprofessionalisation of healthcare services). The preceding themes represent core elements of Wakandan health systems that allow the people of Wakanda to thrive. Wakandans retain a strong identity and cultural traditions while embracing modern technologies. We found that effective upstream approaches to health for all are embedded in anti-colonial philosophies. Wakandans embrace innovation, embedding biomedical engineering and continuous improvement into care settings. For global health systems under strain, Wakanda's health system identifies equitable possibilities for system change, reminding us that culturally relevant prevention strategies can both decrease pressure on health services and allow all people to thrive.
