As the main force and practice subject of rural revitalisation, farmers' health is intricately linked to agricultural production and the rural economy. This study utilizes open data from the 2015 China Nutrition and Health Survey and employs the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) method to explore the factors influencing farmers' self-assessment of health. The findings reveal that education level, proactive nutrition knowledge seeking, healthy dietary preferences and habits, and the use of clean cooking fuel positively impact farmers' health self-assessment. Conversely, age, history of illness or injury, and participation in medical insurance negatively affect their self-assessment. Furthermore, factors influencing farmers' health self-assessment exhibit heterogeneity across regions. Our findings suggest that promoting health education, disseminating nutritional dietary knowledge, and enhancing rural household infrastructure play an important role in improving farmers' self-evaluation of health. Therefore, policymakers should design more targeted health interventions and infrastructure improvement plans based on farmers' self-assessment of health and the level of regional economic development.

Peptides with strong antioxidant activity have been increasingly extracted from various edible aquatic animals, as natural substitutes for synthetic antioxidants. In this paper, a systematic review of the research progress on the enzymatic hydrolysis strategy and structure-activity relationship of antioxidant peptides from edible aquatic animals, especially marine animals, over the last decade was presented. The selection of enzymes varied markedly among organs and tissues. Tools and indicators used in the purification and identification process were clarified. The similarity and the difference in structure and antioxidant activity between vertebrate-derived peptides and invertebrate-derived peptides were discussed. The stability of antioxidant peptides was reviewed. Most peptides could maintain activity under mild conditions, but they hardly resisted gastrointestinal digestion. The poor ability of peptides to cross the small intestinal epithelium in prototype form brought a challenge for food and pharmaceutical applications.

Actual pharmaceutical wastewater was pretreated with ozone microbubbles and compared with the treatment processes of nitrogen microbubbles, ozone common bubbles, and nitrogen common bubbles. The removal process and performance of suspended solids (SS) and organic compounds were investigated. The results showed that ozone microbubble treatment with strong adsorption-flotation-oxidation effects could enhance SS removal significantly, and the corresponding SS removal efficiency reached 81.67% at 60 min. The SS particle size was reduced, and the negative charge on the SS surface was simultaneously changed into a positive charge. Microbubble ozonation with a strong·OH oxidation effect also significantly enhanced the degradation and removal of organic compounds. The removal efficiency of soluble COD (SCOD) reached 36.60% at 60 min, and the SCOD removal was accelerated after the SS removal. The removal efficiency of UV254 also reached 36.91%. The biodegradability was improved, and the biological toxicity was obviously eliminated. The analysis of three-dimensional fluorescence and GC-MS showed that the macromolecular organic compounds with complex structure could be oxidized and decomposed efficiently with microbubble ozonation, resulting in the aromatic reduction in organic compounds in wastewater. Therefore, microbubble ozonation could be considered as an efficient and feasible pretreatment method for high concentration and refractory pharmaceutical wastewater.

In this study, porous gelatin microspheres (GMSs) were constructed to improve the neuroprotective effect of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on spinal cord injury. GMSs were prepared by a W/O emulsion template, followed by cross-linking, washing and drying. The particle sizes and surface porosity of the blank GMSs were carefully characterized by scan electronic microscopy. The blank GMSs have a mean particle size of 35µm and theirs surface was coarse and porous. bFGF was easily encapsulated inside the bulk GMSs through diffusion along the porous channel. 200µg of bFGF was completely encapsulated in 100mg of GMSs. The bFGF-loaded GMSs displayed a continuous drug release pattern without an obvious burst release over two weeks in vitro. Moreover, the therapeutic effects of bFGF-loaded GMSs were also evaluated in spinal cord injury rat model. After implantation of bFGF-loaded GMSs, the recovery of the motor function of SCI rats were evaluated by behavioral score and foot print experiment. The motor function of SCI rats treated with bFGF-loaded GMSs was more obvious than that treated with free bFGF solution (P<0.05). At the 28th days after treatment, rats were sacrificed and the injured spinal were removed for histopathological and apoptosis examination. Compared with treatment with free bFGF solution, treatment with bFGF-loaded GMSs resulted in a less necrosis, less infiltration of leukocytes, and a reduced the cavity ratio and less apoptotic cells in injured spinal(P<0.01), indicating its better therapeutic effect. Implantable porous GMSs may be a potential carrier to deliver bFGF for therapy of spinal cord injury.
