RESUMO

In poultry, feed restriction is common feeding management to limit poultry nutrients intake so that poultry only intake the essential energy, meeting the basic need of growth and development. Our study investigated whether feeding restriction affects the diversity of the intestinal microbiota of growing breeding ducks. In this research, the 60-120-day-old ducks were raised in restricted and free-feeding groups. After slaughtering, the carcass traits and the cecal contents were collected for 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. After feeding restriction, the growth rate of ducks was limited, the weight and rate of abdominal fat decreased, and the rate of chest and leg muscles increased. In addition, feeding restriction can also change the diversity of intestinal microorganisms in breeding ducks, such as the increase of Firmicutes abundance and the decrease of Bacteroidetes abundance. After analyzing of correlation, significant correlations between gut microbiota and carcass phenotypes were found. The results indicated that gut microbiota might be involved in the life activities associated with phenotypic changes. This study proved the effect of feeding methods on the intestinal microbiota of ducks, providing a theoretical basis of the microbial angle for raising ducks in a feeding-restricted period.

RESUMO

Vegetation phenology, a regular and periodic phenomenon in nature, is an important indicator for natural environment, especially climate change. The study of spatiotemporal variations of vegetation phenology is of great significance for monitoring the changes of terrestrial vegetation. In this study, the Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filtering method was used to reconstruct time-series MODIS enhanced vegetation index (EVI) data in the Qinling Mountains from 2001 to 2018. The dynamic threshold method was used to extract the spring phenological parameter (start of growth season, SOS). The correlation between multi-year mean SOS and interannual variation with altitude and slope was analyzed. The results showed that SOS was delayed by 1.82 d with every 100 m increase in altitude in the Qinling Mountains. The interannual change trends of SOS mainly concentrated in 0-5 d·(10 a)-1. The pixels with delaying trend were mainly distributed in low-altitude regions, with the delaying degree being gradually decreased with the elevation. The interannual change trend of SOS in high-altitude regions was more complex than that in lower-altitude regions. The multi-year average SOS in the northern slope was approximately 2.9 d earlier than that of the southern slope, whereas the southern slope had a more significant advancing trend. The interannual change trends of SOS in both north and south slopes showed a delaying trend in low-altitude, with little difference between north and south slopes. The advancing trend in middle and high altitude was significantly different.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Plant viral diseases cause tremendous decreases in yield and quality. Natural polycyclic compounds such as those containing carbocycles are often very important lead compounds for drug and pesticide development. Tricyclic spiranoid lactones with 5A 5B 6C -ring fusion topologies possess various bioactivities. In this study, 33 new 5A 5B 6C tricyclic spirolactones were rationally designed, synthesized, characterized and evaluated for antiviral activities. RESULT: These compounds showed no apparent toxicity against Italian honeybees up to 2.73 µg bee-1 . Spirolactones 14, 16, 19, 23 and 28 at a concentration of 100 µg mL-1 inactivated 90% of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) infection, making these compounds much more potent than the positive controls. Significantly, compound 19 displayed the best inactivation activity causing inhibition of up to 98%. CONCLUSION: The results of the bioassays and QSAR studies indicated that the carbon-containing cyclic moiety was the antiviral pharmacophore, and derivative 19, which showed the best inactivation activity, could emerge as a potential antiviral agent against TMV. In vitro capsid protein (CP) assembly and TMV assembly inhibition determinations indicated that these compounds induced crosslinking in the TMV and prevented its uncoating, which was a putative new mode of action for TMV inactivation. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

3,4-Dichloroisothiazoles can induce systemic acquired resistance (SAR) to enhance plant resistance against a subsequent pathogen attack, and oxathiapiprolin exhibits excellent anti-fungal activity against oomycetes targeting at the oxysterol-binding protein. To discover novel chemicals with systemic acquired resistance and fungicidal activity, 21 novel isothiazole-thiazole derivatives were designed, synthesized and characterized according to the active compound derivatization method. Compound 6u, with EC50 values of 0.046 mg L-1 and 0.20 mg L-1 against Pseudoperonospora cubensis (Berk. et Curt.) Rostov and Phytophthora infestans in vivo, might act at the same target as oxysterol binding protein (PcORP1) of oxathiapiprolin; this result was validated by cross-resistance and molecular docking studies. The expression of the systemic acquired resistance gene pr1 was significantly up-regulated after treating with compound 6u for 24 h (43-fold) and 48 h (122-fold). These results can help the development of isothiazole-thiazole-based novel fungicides.

RESUMO

The psychrotrophs SYP-A2-3 producing the cold-adapted protease has been isolated from the bacterial samples collected from the No. 1 Glacier of China and identified as Bacillus cereus according to its morphological and physiochemical characteristics and 16s rDNA gene sequence analysis. It could grow between 0 degree C and 38 degrees C while its optimal growth temperature was 25 degrees C and the optimal temperature for its protease production was 15 degrees C. The cold-adapted protease was identified as neutral metallo-protease, the molecular weight was 34.2 kD shown by SDS-PAGE, the optimal pH and temperature for activity was 7.0-8.5 and 42 degrees C, respectively. Various fermentation conditions of its protease production were also investigated. The results showed that casein was the best nitrogen source while glucose and starch were suitable carbon source for its protease production. The initial pH of fermentation broth ranged from 6.5 to 7.0 was optimal. Under optimized conditions, the protease activity produced by SYP-A2-3 could reach 3800 U/mL and 4800 U/mL conducted in shaking flask and 5 L stirred jar experiment, respectively.
