RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate associations between health-promoting lifestyle and suboptimal health status (SHS) in the population of Guangdong province. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in a clustered sample of 24 159 individuals aged 12-80 years from 2012 to 2013. Health-promoting lifestyle was assessed via the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP-II), and SHS was evaluated using the medical examination report and Sub-health Measurement Scale V1.0 (SHMS V1.0). RESULTS: Of the 24159 participants, subjects with SHS (46.0%) and disease status (35.2%) accounted for a much higher percentage than healthy subjects (18.8%). Regression analyses revealed a significant association between health status and healthy lifestyle (P<0.001). Unhealthy lifestyle was an important risk factor for SHS and disease, especially the former. Compared with the participants with a healthy lifestyle (minimal exposure), after demographic adjustment, subjects with a 'poor' lifestyle (maximal exposure) were at a 43 times higher risk of developing SHS (OR: 42.825, 95% CI: 30.567-59.997), those with a general lifestyle were at a 21 times higher risk of SHS (OR: 21.072, 95%CI: 17.258-25.729), and those with a suboptimal lifestyle had a 4 times higher risk (OR: 4.085, 95%CI: 3.352-4.979). In the general population, the major risk factors for SHS included poor stress management, poor self-actualization, inactive exercise and poor interpersonal relationship. CONCLUSION: s Unhealthy lifestyles are significantly related to an increased risk of SHS. Intervention of unhealthy lifestyles, controlling the risk factors of SHS, and rigorous management of the time window of SHS are necessary to promote the heath status.

RESUMO

Composites were prepared by filling high density polyethylene (HDPE) with acetylene black (AC-CB) and high-structure CB (HG-CB), respectively. Optical properties of the composites were characterized with terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). It was found that as frequency increases the absorption coefficients of the composites increase whereas the refractive indexes decrease. Both the absorption coefficient and refractive index increase with increasing the particle concentration. The HG-CB filled composites have larger absorption coefficient but smaller refractive index compared with that of the AC-CB composites at the same particle concentration. These phenomena are related to the different particulate structures and aggregate structures of the CB particles. Assuming that the dielectric loss in THz frequency range is mainly attributed to the electron transport within the conductive clusters and the interfacial polarization of HDPE, the information of relaxation time and relaxation strength was obtained through fitting the experimental results to two-Debye theory of dipole relaxation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the symptoms and dynamic changes of histopathology in the organs from ICR mice infected by Toxoplasma gondii Prugniaud strain. METHODS: Thirty ICR mice were infected intraperitoneally with cysts, 10 cysts per mouse. 16 mice were injected with PBS. Incidence of the mice was observed. Three mice from the infected group and two mice from the control group were sacrificed, and the liver, spleen, lung, brain, kidney and heart were collected for pathology and immunohistochemistry examinations on the day 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 60 and 90 post-infection. RESULTS: The infected mice began to fall ill at 6 d post-infection, symptoms including decreased appetite, pilomotor fur, sloth, shakes and diarrhea, with a mortality rate of 20%. From 5 d to 20 d post-infection, microscopic examination for HE stain-slides showed the destroyed liver structure, cellular edema, ballooning change, focal necrosis, sinus hepatic expansion and hyperemia, and inflammatory infiltration. Splenic corpuscles demolished and disappeared, red pulp widened and white pulp atrophied, splenic sinusoid extended with hyperemia. Lungs showed destruction of the structure and pathological changes of interstitial pneumonia. The pathological changes began to alleviate until recovery after 20 d post-infection. In the brain, neuronal degeneration and necrosis were found at 10 d post-infection. Some neuroglial cell tubercle, blood vessel sleeve cuffing, inflammatory cell infiltration on cavitas subarachnoidealis and cysts were observed from 15 d to 90 d. Granulation tissue was seen at 90 d post-infection. By immunohistochemistry test, internal organs showed toxoplasma antigen at 5 d post-infection, and the positive reaction was remarkable at 10 d post-infection, then began to taper until negative. Toxoplasma antigen was revealed in the brain from 10 d to 90 d post-infection. CONCLUSION: Non-specific clinical manifestation and the degeneration, necrosis and inflammatory cell infiltration in poly-organs appear in earlier period of toxoplasma tachyzoite infection in the ICR mice, followed by the co-existing phenomenon of non-specific infection with cysts in the brain.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the running status of the Guizhou provincial measles laboratory network in 2007. METHODS: To analyze the testing result of measles laboratory network and data of measles Surveillance system (MSS). RESULTS: 1. Serologic surveillance: 1645 suspected measles cases were reported in MSS in 2007, and 1454 measles sera samples were collected, and the collection rate was 88.4%. The measles cases were 915, among 191 were diagnosed by clinic, and 724 were confirmed by laboratory (79.1%). 27 of 28 outbreaks were laboratory diagnosed as measles. The measles IgG of 726 healthy population sera were tested, and the positive rate was 70.3%. and geometric mean titer was 1:492. 6. 2. Viruology surveillance: from 35 throat swab or urine samples collected in 2007, 11 strains of wild measles virus were isolated, all of them were H1a genotype. 3. Laboratory network quality control: the provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) measles laboratory passed the proficiency test, the sera samples recheck and on-site review held by the China CDC National Measles Laboratory with good performance in 2007. Nine prefectures CDC measles laboratories passed the sera proficiency test and on-site review held by the provincial CDC. 215 sera samples were rechecked, among which, 202 result was as same as the provincial laboratory, the accordance rate was 94.0%. CONCLUSION: Running status of the whole provincial measles laboratories network were good in 2007, and the good laboratory quality control system was also set up, and they play an important role in measles surveillance.

RESUMO

Selective adsorption of active ingredients liquiritin and isoliquiritin from Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) has been studied. Distribution coefficients of liquiritin between ethanol solvent and r-MWNTs or o-MWNTs in 293K is 37.5 and 43.3, while the distribution coefficients of isoliquiritin between ethanol solvent and r-MWNTs or o-MWNTs is 717 and 1080, respectively. It was indicated that the distribution coefficient of isoliquiritin adsorbed by MWNTs was much larger than that of liquiritin, and oxidation treatment of MWNTs could obviously enhance their adsorption ability. The possible reasons that MWNTs can selectively adsorb isoliquiritin other than liquiritin were discussed on the bases of molecular structure of the active ingredients and their interaction with nanotubes.
