RESUMO

Entropy weight model (EWM) is widely used in water quality evaluation. In the conventional EWM, the weight is a monotone increasing function of the dispersion degree. However, this weighting principle often neglects the heavily polluted indicators. To solve this problem, an improved EWM is designed, in which the weight of the indicator is a compound function of its dispersion degree and pollution degree. In the clean domain, the weight increases with the dispersion degree, while in the polluted domain, the weight decreases with the dispersion degree. And for the same dispersion degree, the larger the pollution degree is, the higher the weight is, and vice versa. Subsequently, the improved EWM is applied to the water quality evaluation of Wucheng Wetland in Poyang Lake, China. Results are as follows: (i) For TP, CODMn, and NH3-N, their dispersion degrees are 0.001, 0.158, and 0.084; and their pollution degrees are 0.971, 0.277, and 0.281, respectively. (ii) According to the improved EWM, the weights of TP, CODMn, and NH3-N are 0.613, 0.197, and 0.190, respectively. (iii) The comprehensive water quality indices of estuary region, wetland region, and the central lake area are 32.5, 30.9, and 35.6, respectively, all of which belong to a "bad" grade. The water environment of Wucheng Wetland suffered serious damage of phosphorus, and the ecosystem faced a high threat. (iv) Compared with the conventional EWM, the improved EWM highlights the importance of polluted indicators, which makes the comprehensive evaluation results more rigorous and reasonable.

RESUMO

Background: Osteopontin (OPN) can regulate Th2 inflammation in allergic rhinitis (AR). A recent study suggested that group II innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) were very important for airway inflammation. But the role of OPN in ILC2s regulation is not explored. Methods: Purified ILC2s were stimulated by human recombinant OPN. The expression of GATA3 and RORα was assayed using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. MiR-181a was transfected into eosinophils to test the OPN production. The protein concentrations of interleukin (IL)-5 and IL-13 were examined using ELISA. Purified eosinophils and ILC2s were cocultured and stimulated by OPN and the activation of eosinophils was detected by ELISA. Results: After OPN stimulation, the ILC2s proliferation, the mRNA levels of GATA3 and RORα, the protein of GATA3, RORα, IL-5 and IL-13 expression were up-regulated significantly in a dose dependent manner. Eosinophils cultured alone transfected with miR-181a mimics produced less OPN protein compared with eosinophils transfected with miR-control, whereas OPN production was significantly promoted when miR-181a inhibitor was transfected. In the eosinophils and ILC2s coculture system, eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) production induced by OPN or IL-33 were significantly higher than ECP production in eosinophils culture system. OPN presented similar potency with IL-33 in the activation of eosinophils. When anti-IL-5 antibody was added, the production of ECP was significantly inhibited. Conclusions: Our data for the first time provided new evidence that OPN played important roles in innate immunity of AR by regulation of ILC2s and the interaction between ILC2s and eosinophils.

RESUMO

Vertical jumping is the most important of the fundamental motor skills and has an important impact on children's health. A systematic study was conducted on the influence of vertical jumping on children's health and motor development patterns. In this study, the training and learning of vertical jumping were found to be effective in promoting children's development, especially in terms of height and muscle growth. Training interventions were used to determine the influence of age on children's learning of the correct vertical jumping motor pattern. Sex was found to have no influence on children's learning of vertical jumping. Although children were found to be able to learn the correct vertical jumping motor pattern, they could not reach a level of proficiency and intuitively apply the acquired skills to task completion. Cognitive ability was found to have a crucial effect on motor learning among children, especially when they faced various task constraints.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Airway epithelium plays an important role during the development of allergic rhinitis (AR), which is characterized by production of thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), interleukin 33 (IL-33), and interleukin 25 (IL-25). IL-35, mainly expressed by Treg cells, have negative regulation in Th2, Th17, and ILC2 inflammation. However, the effect of IL-35 on human nasal epithelial cells (HNECs) especially the secretion of nasal epithelial-derived proinflammatory cytokines as well as the possible mechanism is still unclear. METHODS: HNECs were cultured and stimulated by various stimulators. The expression of IL-33, IL-25, TSLP, eotaxin-1, eotaxin-2, and eotaxin-3 from supernatant was measured using real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AR mice were developed to verify the effect of IL-35 on nasal epithelial cells in vivo. RESULTS: After Poly I:C stimulation, IL-35 inhibited the production of IL-25, and TSLP from HNECs increased significantly compared with baseline levels (P < 0.05). After Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus or Aspergillus fumigatus stimulation, IL-35 inhibited the production of IL-25, IL-33, and TSLP from HNECs increased significantly compared with baseline levels (P < 0.05). After Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, IL-35 inhibited the production of eotaxin-1, eotaxin-2, and eotaxin-3 released from HNECs increased significantly compared with baseline levels (P < 0.05). Similarly, IL-35-treated AR mice presented with decreased expression of IL-33, IL-25, TSLP, eotaxin-1, eotaxin-2, and eotaxin-3 in nasal lavage fluid. CONCLUSION: IL-35 suppressed both type 2 inflammation-inducing cytokines and eosinophil chemotactic factor from HNECs, suggesting the important role of IL-35 during the development of AR.

RESUMO

Supercritical CO2 appearing as bubbles in hydrothermal vents was identified in the south part of the Okinawa Trough using in situ Raman spectroscopy. Significantly, the N2 peak in supercritical CO2 is much larger than those in seawater and vent fluids, indicating that supercritical CO2 enriches N2 from the surrounding environment. Considering that the partial pressures of CO2 and N2 in the Earth's proto-atmosphere were ~10-20 MPa, supercritical CO2 with high N2 was likely the dominant CO2 phase near the water-air interface in the early history of the Earth, which promoted the synthesis, pre-enrichment and preservation of amino acids and other organic matters that are essential to the origin of life.

RESUMO

"Nanhai I" shipwreck of China Southern Song Dynasty is the oldest and the most integrally preserved shipwreck in the world. The related conservation and archeological research have caught great attention of different experts all over the world. In this study, different types of concretion covered on the surface of the ceramics in "Nanhai I" shipwreck were analyzed by X-ray diffractometer, micro-Raman spectrometer, and scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy. Based on the analyses, we found that the grey concretion was mainly composed of quartz, aragonite, and calcite while the reddish concretion was mainly composed of pyrite and quartz. Our study indicated that the formation process of the grey concretion probably included the crystallization and transformation of aragonite, while the corrosion of iron implements and crystallization of pyrite were highly involved in the formation of reddish concretion.

RESUMO

For ecologists, understanding the reaction of animals to environmental changes is critical. Using networked sensor technology to measure wildlife and environmental parameters can provide accurate, real-time and comprehensive data for monitoring, research and conservation of wildlife. This paper reviews: (i) conventional detection technology; (ii) concepts and applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) in animal ecology; and (iii) the advantages and disadvantages of IoT. The current theoretical limits of IoT in animal ecology are also discussed. Although IoT offers a new direction in animal ecological research, it still needs to be further explored and developed as a theoretical system and applied to the appropriate scientific frameworks for understanding animal ecology.

RESUMO

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in controlling hepatocyte proliferation during liver regeneration. In this study, we established the miRNAs-expression patterns of primary hepatocytes in vitro under stimulation of epidermal growth factor (EGF), and found that microRNA-21 (miR-21) was appreciably up-regulated and peaked at 12h. In addition, we further presented evidences indicating that miR-21 promotes primary hepatocyte proliferation through in vitro transfecting with miR-21 mimics or inhibitor. We further demonstrated that phosphatidylinositol 3'-OH kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling was altered accordingly, it is, by targeting phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome 10, PI3K/Akt signaling is activated by miR-21 to accelerate hepatocyte rapid S-phase entry and proliferation in vitro.
