RESUMO

Objective: To construct a model for predicting recidivism in violence in community-based schizophrenia spectrum disorder patients (SSDP) by adopting a joint modeling method. Methods: Based on the basic data on severe mental illness in Southwest China between January 2017 and June 2018, 4565 community-based SSDP with baseline violent behaviors were selected as the research subjects. We used a growth mixture model (GMM) to identify patterns of medication adherence and social functioning. We then fitted the joint model using a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model and compared it with traditional static models. Finally, we used a 10-fold training-test cross validation framework to evaluate the models' fitting and predictive performance. Results: A total of 157 patients (3.44%) experienced recidivism in violence. Medication compliance and social functioning were fitted into four patterns. In the counting model, age, marital status, educational attainment, economic status, historical types of violence, and medication compliance patterns were predictive factors for the frequency of recidivism of violence (P<0.05). In the zero-inflated model, age, adverse drug reactions, historical types of violence, medication compliance patterns, and social functioning patterns were predictive factors for the recidivism in violence (P<0.05). For the joint model, the average value of Akaike information criterion (AIC) for the train set was 776.5±9.4, the average value of root mean squared error (RMSE) for the testing set was 0.168±0.013, and the average value of mean absolute error (MAE) for the testing set was 0.131±0.018, which were all lower than those of the traditional static models. Conclusion: Joint modeling is an effective statistical strategy for identifying and processing dynamic variables, exhibiting better predictive performance than that of the traditional static models. It can provide new ideas for promoting the construction of comprehensive intervention systems.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Emodin, a natural anthraquinone derivative found in various Chinese medicinal herbs, has been proved to be an effective therapeutic agent in the treatment of many diseases. However, its effect on lung injury after intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury remains unknown. This research was designed to investigate whether emodin protects against intestinal ischemia/reperfusion-induced lung injury and to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms in vivo and in vitro. METHODS: Intestinal ischemia/reperfusion injury was induced by occluding the superior mesenteric artery in mice, and mouse lung epithelial-12 cells were subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation to establish an in vitro model. RESULTS: Our data indicated that emodin treatment reduced intestinal ischemia/reperfusion-induced oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis in lung tissues and alleviated lung injury. However, the protective effects of emodin on intestinal ischemia/reperfusion-induced lung injury were reversed by the protein kinase B inhibitor triciribine or the heme oxygenase-1 inhibitor tin protoporphyrin IX. The protein kinase inhibitor triciribine also downregulated the expression of heme oxygenase-1. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, our data suggest that emodin treatment protects against intestinal ischemia/reperfusion-induced lung injury by enhancing heme oxygenase-1 expression via activation of the PI3K/protein kinase pathway. Emodin may act as a potential therapeutic agent for the prevention and treatment of lung injury induced by intestinal ischemia/reperfusion.

RESUMO

Germline-specific genes are usually activated in cancer cells and drive cancer progression; such genes are called cancer-germline or cancer-testis genes. The RNA-binding protein DAZL is predominantly expressed in germ cells and plays a role in gametogenesis as a translational activator or repressor. However, its expression and role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are unknown. Here, mining of RNA-sequencing data from public resources and immunohistochemical analysis of tissue microarrays showed that DAZL was expressed exclusively in testis among normal human tissues but ectopically expressed in NSCLC tissues. Testis and NSCLC cells expressed the shorter and longer transcript variants of the DAZL gene, respectively. Overexpression of the longer DAZL transcript promoted tumor growth in a mouse xenograft model. Silencing of DAZL suppressed cell proliferation, colony formation, migration, invasion, and cisplatin resistance in vitro and tumor growth in vivo. Quantitative proteomic analysis based on tandem mass tag and Western blot analysis showed that DAZL upregulated the expression of JAK2 and MCM8. RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation assays showed that DAZL bound to the mRNA of JAK2 and MCM8. The JAK2 inhibitor fedratinib attenuated the oncogenic outcomes induced by DAZL overexpression, whereas silencing MCM8 counteracted the effects of DAZL overexpression on cisplatin-damaged DNA synthesis and half-maximal inhibitory concentration of cisplatin. In conclusion, DAZL was identified as a novel cancer-germline gene that enhances the translation of JAK2 and MCM8 to promote NSCLC progression and resistance to cisplatin, respectively. These findings suggest that DAZL is a potential therapeutic target in NSCLC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Despite the importance of medication adherence in treatment effectiveness, little is known about the association between medication non-adherence and self-inflicted violence behaviors. We aimed to assess whether medication non-adherence increased the risk of self-inflicted violence behaviors among schizophrenics in communities (hypothesis 1) and whether the dose-response relationship existed (hypothesis 2). METHODS: This 12-year cohort study in western China recruited 292,667 community-dwelling schizophrenics. The proportion of regular medication (PRM) was calculated by dividing the time of "regular adherence" by the total time of antipsychotic treatment during follow-up period as an indicator of medication adherence. For hypothesis 1, medication adherence was designated as a binary variable with a threshold of 0.8 (PRM); for hypothesis 2, medication adherence was specified as five-category and continuous variables, respectively. Inverse probability weighting and mixed effects Cox proportional hazards models were conducted for confounders control and survival analyses. RESULTS: One hundred eighty-five thousand eight hundred participants were eligible for the final analyses, with a mean age of 47.49 years (SD 14.55 years), of whom 53.6% were female. For hypothesis 1, the medication non-adherence group (PRM < 0.8) had a lower risk of suicide (HR, 0.527, 95% CI, 0.447-0.620), an increased risk of NSSI (HR, 1.229, 95% CI, 1.088-1.388), and non-significant risk of attempted suicide compared with adherence group (PRM ≥ 0.8). For hypothesis 2, the lowest medication adherence (PRM < 0.2) was associated with increased risks of suicide attempt (HR, 1.614, 95% CI, 1.412-1.845), NSSI (HR, 1.873, 95% CI, 1.649-2.126), and a decreased risk of suicide (HR, 0.593, 95% CI, 0.490-0.719). The other non-adherence groups had lower risks for all three self-inflicted violence behaviors. The associations between medication adherence in continuous-variable and three outcomes were consistent with the categorical medication adherence results. CONCLUSIONS: Almost no medication taken as prescribed was associated with an increased risk of suicide attempt and NSSI. However, medication adherence did not appear to prevent completed suicide. Besides, patients with moderate adherence had a lower incidence of suicide attempt and NSSI. These findings highlight the need for a more detailed portrayal of medication adherence and the need to be vigilant for suicide intent in schizophrenics with good medication adherence who may be overlooked previously.

RESUMO

Heavy pollution of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of <2.5 µm (PM2.5) poses increasing threats to the living environment worldwide. Urban agglomerations often lead to regional rather than local air pollution problems. This study explored the underlying global and local spatial driving mechanisms of PM2.5 variations of the 195 county-level administrative units in the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, China, in 2020, using the global spatial regression and geographically weighted regression methods. Results showed that (1) at the county level, there were spatial variations of PM2.5, fluctuating from 20.1263 µg/m3 to 44.8416 µg/m3. (2) The concentrations of PM2.5 presented a positive spatial autocorrelation with a remarkable direct spatial spillover effect. (3) Forestland, grassland, elevation and ecological restoration were negatively correlated with PM2.5 concentrations, the indirect spatial spillover effect of elevation was noticeable. (4) The indirect reduction effects of ecological restoration on PM2.5 concentrations were substantial in the Wuhan urban agglomeration. (5) The reduction effect of forestland, grassland, ecological restoration and elevation on PM2.5 showed a noticeable spatial heterogeneity. In the future, it is suggested regional variability and the spatial spillover effect of air pollution be taken into account in environmental governance. Simultaneously, utilization of the mitigation effect of ecological restoration on PM2.5 is anticipated for the concerted effort in air pollution governance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The COP9 signalosome subunit 6 (COPS6) has been implicated in cancer progression, while its precise role in most types of cancer remains elusive. AIM: To investigate the functional and clinical relevance of COPS6 across various tumor types using publicly available databases. METHODS: We used R software and online analysis databases to analyze the differential expression, prognosis, mutation and related functions of COPS6 in pan-cancer. RESULTS: Differential expression analysis and survival analysis demonstrated that COPS6 was highly expressed and associated with high-risk profiles in the majority of cancer types. Possible associations between COPS6 expression level and prognostic outcomes were found using data from public databases. Mutational analysis revealed that missense mutations were the predominant type of COPS6 mutation. Additionally, positive correlations were identified between COPS6 expression level and tumor mutational burden and microsatellite instability in most types of cancer. Immune infiltration analysis demonstrated a negative correlation between COPS6 expression level and CD8+ T cell infiltration in certain types of cancer. The correlation between COPS6 expression level and cancer-associated fibroblast infiltration exhibited heterogeneity, in which a positive correlation was found in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and tenosynovial giant cell tumor, and a negative correlation was identified in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and thymoma. The correlation between COPS6 expression level and macrophage infiltration was closely related to macrophage type. Gene co-expression and enrichment analysis highlighted transcription elongation factor B polypeptide 2 and G protein pathway suppressor 1 were significantly and positively associated with COPS6 expression level. These genes were predominantly involved in processes, such as ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis and human immunodeficiency virus 1 infection. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, this study systematically explored the significance of COPS6 across different tumor types, providing a solid foundation for considering COPS6 as a novel biomarker in cancer research.

RESUMO

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has become increasingly popular in clinical practice in recent years, and there have been significant advances in the principles and stimulation modes of TMS. With the development of multi-mode and precise stimulation technology, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of TMS. The neuroregulatory effects of TMS can vary depending on the specific mode of stimulation, highlighting the importance of exploring these effects through multimodal application. Additionally, the use of precise TMS therapy can help enhance our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying these effects, providing us with a more comprehensive perspective. This article aims to review the mechanism of action, stimulation mode, multimodal application, and precision of TMS.

RESUMO

Excess mortality in people with severe mental illness (SMI) has been extensively reported. However, little is known about mortality due to natural causes and suicide and their risk factors among people with SMI in western China. The study was conducted to determine the risk factors of natural death and suicide among people with SMI in western China. A totoal of 20,195 SMI patients in western China derived from severe mental illness information system in Sichuan province (January 1, 2006, through July 31, 2018) were included in the cohort study. Mortality rates per 10,000 person-years of natural causes and suicide for patients were calculated with different characteristics. Fine-Gray competing risk model was used to identify risk factors of natural death and suicide. The mortality was 132.8 per 10,000 person-years for natural death and 13.6 per 10,000 person-years for suicide. Males, older age, divorced/widowed, poverty and no anti-psychotic treatment were significantly associated with natural death. Higher education and suicide attempt were strong risk factors of suicide. Risk factors were not shared across natural death and suicide among people with SMI in western China. Risk management and interventions for people with SMI should be tailored for specific causes of death.

RESUMO

Objective: To prospectively explore the risk factors of suicide in patients with schizophrenia. Methods: Data on schizophrenia patients in Sichuan Province between 2006 and 2018 were obtained from the National Severe Mental Disorders Information System, and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to explore for risk factors for suicide in schizophrenia patients. Result: A total of 170006 patients with schizophrenia were included in the study. At the end of the follow-up period, 160570 patients were alive and 9436 died from various causes, 929 of which being suicide deaths, resulting in a suicide rate of 223.61/100, 000 person-years. The Cox proportional hazards regression model suggested that risk factors for suicide in patients with schizophrenia included poverty ( HR=1.20, 95% CI: 1.02-1.41), higher education level (primary school [ HR=1.32, 95% CI: 1.09-1.60], middle school [ HR=1.40, 95% CI: 1.14-1.73], high school and above [ HR=1.93, 95% CI: 1.49-2.52]) in comparison with illiteracy and semi-literacy, suicide attempts ( HR=2.70, 95% CI: 1.70-4.29), strict medication compliance ( HR=1.91, 95% CI: 1.66-2.20), history of antipsychotic drug therapy ( HR=1.42, 95% CI: 1.06-1.90), younger age group of patients of 46-60 ( HR=1.95, 95% CI: 1.60-2.39), 31-45 ( HR=3.61, 95% CI: 2.92-4.47), and 15-30 ( HR=12.37, 95% CI: 9.69-15.78) compared with the 61-90 age group, and doing agriculture jobs ( HR=1.36, 95% CI: 1.13-1.65). Conclusion: Young and middle-aged schizophrenia patients with higher education levels, especially those with a history of suicide attempts, are at high risk for suicide. Focused interventions should be directed at high-risk groups to reduce suicide deaths in patients with schizophrenia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Depression leads to a cognitive decline and decreases in ghrelin are observed in depression. Ghrelin affects the level of Brain-derived nerve growth factor (BDNF) through the cAMP-CREB signalling pathway, and lower BDNF levels lead to cognitive decline. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that in depression, lower ghrelin causes a decrease in BDNF levels and cognitive decline though the cAMP- CREB signalling pathway. METHODS: A total of 120 C57BL/6J male mice were randomly divided into six groups of 20 mice: non-depression groups (sham group, ghrelin group, and ghrelin + (D-lys3)-GHRP-6 group) and depression groups (depression group, depression + ghrelin group and depression + ghrelin + (D-lys3)-GHRP group). A depression mouse model was established by injecting normal saline, ghrelin or ghrelin + (D-lys3) -GHRP-6 into the lateral ventricle of each group. Cognition, hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP), ghrelin mRNA and protein level, BDNF level and CREB level in the hippocampus were detected. RESULTS: In the depression mouse model groups, all comparison indexes (cognition and hippocampal levels of LTP, ghrelin mRNA and proteins, and BDNF and CREB) had significant negative changes. In the mice with depression, ghrelin or ghrelin + (D-lys3)-GHRP-6 was injected, and all the comparison indicators showed significant positive changes. Supplementation of ghrelin+(D-lys3))-GHRP-6 resulted in more significant positive changes in all comparison indexes than those of ghrelin alone. CONCLUSIONS: In the depression model, lower ghrelin causes hippocampal BDNF to decrease and results in cognitive decline via the cAMP-CREB signalling pathway.

RESUMO

Solar and radiative warming are smart approaches to maintaining the human body at a metabolically comfortable temperature in both indoor and outdoor scenarios. Nevertheless, existing warming textiles are ineffective in frigid climates because the solar absorption of selective absorbing coating is significantly reduced when coated on rough textile surface. Herein, for the first time, high-entropy nitrides based spectrally selective film (SSF) is introduced on common cotton through a one-step magnetron sputtering method. The well-designed refractive index gradient enables destructive interference effects, offering a roughness-insensitive high solar absorptance (92.8%) and low thermal emittance (39.2%). Impressively, the solar absorptance is 9.1% higher than the reported best-performing selective nanofilm-based textile. As a result, such a textile achieves a record-high photothermal conversion efficiency (82.2% under 0.6 suns, at 0 °C). This textile yields a 3.5 °C drop in the set-point of indoor air-conditioner temperature. Besides, in a winter morning with an air temperature of 7.5 °C, it warms up the human skin by as large as 12 °C under weak sunlight (350 W m-2 ). More importantly, such a superior radiative warming performance is achieved by engineering the widely used cotton without compromising its breathability and durability, showing great potential for practical applications.

RESUMO

In response to stressful events, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is activated, and consequently glucocorticoids are released by the adrenal gland into the blood circulation. A large body of research has illustrated that excessive glucocorticoids in the hippocampus exerts negative feedback regulation of the HPA axis through glucocorticoid receptor (GR), which is critical for the homeostasis of the HPA axis. Maternal prenatal stress causes dysfunction of the HPA axis feedback mechanism in their offspring in adulthood. Here we report that telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene knockout causes hyperactivity of the HPA axis without hippocampal GR deficiency. We found that the level of TERT in the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus during the developmental stage determines the responses of the HPA axis to stressful events in adulthood through modulating the excitability of the dentate granular cells (DGCs) rather than the expression of GR. Our study also suggests that the prenatal high level of glucocorticoids exposure-induced hypomethylation at Chr13:73764526 in the first exon of mouse Tert gene accounted for TERT deficiency in the DG and HPA axis abnormality in the adult offspring. This study reveals a novel GR-independent mechanism underlying prenatal stress-associated HPA axis impairment, providing a new angle for understanding the mechanisms for maintaining HPA axis homeostasis.

RESUMO

Harvesting solar energy to enhance thermoelectric generator efficiency is a highly effective strategy. However, it is a grand challenge but essential to increase solar-thermal conversion efficiency. A spectrally selective absorber, which is capable of boosting solar absorptance (α) while suppressing thermal emittance (ε), shows great potential to elevate the solar-thermal conversion efficiency. Herein, we fabricate a multilayer spectrally selective absorber with the assistance of high-entropy nitrides, which shows outstanding spectral selectivity (α/ε = 95.2/10.9%). Benefitting from the high-entropy nitrides, it is experimentally demonstrated that the as-deposited absorber exhibits superior thermal stability, which is crucial to ensure service life. Under 1000 W·m-2 simulated solar illumination, it achieves a very high surface temperature of 109.6 °C, making it suitable to enhance the efficiency of solar thermoelectric generators. Impressively, the integration of the proposed absorber with a commercial thermoelectric generator efficiently reinforces thermoelectric performance, offering a high output power of 1.99 mW. More importantly, by taking advantage of a thermal concentration strategy, it enables a further increase of the output power by 2.98 mW. This work provides a promising solar-thermal material to boost high thermoelectric performance and extends the application category of high-entropy nitrides.

RESUMO

Background: Violence to others (hereinafter referred to as "violence-TO") is common in individuals with schizophrenia. The reported prevalence of violence-TO among schizophrenics ranges widely in existing studies. Improved prevalence estimates and identification of moderators are needed to guide future management and research. Methods: We searched EBSCO, EMBASE, Medline, PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, WANFANG data, and CBM for relevant articles published before June 5, 2022. Meanwhile, violence-TO was summarized into four categories: (a) violence-TO on the reviews of official criminal or psychiatric records (type I); (b) less serious forms of violence-TO (type II); (c) physical acts causing demonstrable harm to victims (type III); (d) homicide (type IV). We did meta-analysis for the above types of violence-TO, respectively, and applied subgroup analyses and meta-regression analyses to investigate the source of heterogeneity. Results: A total of 56 studies were eligible in this study and 34 of them were high-quality. The prevalence of type I to type IV in individuals with schizophrenia in China was 23.83% (95% CI: 18.38-29.75%), 23.16% (95% CI: 8.04-42.97%), 17.19% (95%CI: 8.52-28.04%), and 0.62% (95% CI: 0.08-1.54%) respectively. The results of the subgroup analysis showed that the prevalence of type I was higher among subjects in the inland than in the coastal non-economic zone, while the prevalence of type III was the highest in the coastal economic zone, followed by the inland region and the lowest in the coastal non-economic zone. The results of multivariate meta-regression analyses showed that: patient source in type I (ß = 0.15, P < 0.01), patient source (ß = 0.47, P < 0.01), and proportion of male (ß = 0.19, P < 0.01) in type II, age (ß = 0.25, P < 0.01), and GDP per capita (ß = 0.05, P = 0.01) in type III were statistically significant. Conclusion: The prevalence of different types of violence-TO and their influencing factors varied. Therefore, the authorities should take different management measures. In addition to individual factors, regional factors may also affect violence-TO, which suggests the need for a multi-sectorial approach to prevention and treatment for subjects in different regions and adopting targeted control strategies. RESUMO

Thrombin is associated with malignant tumors and promotes tumor development, metastasis, and angiogenesis, therefore its identification especially in lung cancer cells is crucial. Because the interference of in vivo biothiols caused false positive findings with prior gold fluorescent nanoprobes, in this manuscript, an Au-selenol(Se) nanoprobe (5-FAM-peptide-Se-AuNPs) that could specifically detect thrombin was designed and compared to traditional Au-S nanoprobes. For reaching this goal, fluorophore-bearing thrombin-specific peptide containing selenol at the end was synthesized. The nanoprobe may be broken by thrombin to regain its fluorescence in lung cancer cells, allowing for high-sensitivity thrombin detection. Since the Au-Se bond is more stable than the Au-S bond, the accuracy of the detection results can be guaranteed. The probe synthesis method is simple and cost-effective, as well as having high biocompatibility. Low concentrations of thrombin can be detected and imaged in lung cancer cells. The synthetic method of this probe opens up new avenues for the application of Au-Se bonds.

Ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor Ga2O3 based electronic devices are expected to perform beyond wide bandgap counterparts GaN and SiC. However, the reported power figure-of-merit hardly can exceed, which is far below the projected Ga2O3 material limit. Major obstacles are high breakdown voltage requires low doping material and PN junction termination, contradicting with low specific on-resistance and simultaneous achieving of n- and p-type doping, respectively. In this work, we demonstrate that Ga2O3 heterojunction PN diodes can overcome above challenges. By implementing the holes injection in the Ga2O3, bipolar transport can induce conductivity modulation and low resistance in a low doping Ga2O3 material. Therefore, breakdown voltage of 8.32 kV, specific on-resistance of 5.24 mΩ⋅cm2, power figure-of-merit of 13.2 GW/cm2, and turn-on voltage of 1.8 V are achieved. The power figure-of-merit value surpasses the 1-D unipolar limit of GaN and SiC. Those Ga2O3 power diodes demonstrate their great potential for next-generation power electronics applications.

RESUMO

Foamy viruses belong to the Spumaretrovirinae subfamily member of the Retroviridae family and produce nonpathogenic infection to hosts in the natural conditions. However, infections of foamy viruses can dramatically cause severe cytopathic effects in vitro. To date, the exact molecular mechanism has remained unclear which implied the tremendous importance of virus-host cell immune reactions. In this study, we found that the transactivator Tas in two foamy viruses isolated from Old World Monkey (OWM) induced obvious inhibition of cell proliferation via the upregulation of Foxo3a expression. It was mediated by the generation of ROS and the initiation of ER stress, and ultimately, the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway was triggered. Notably, PFV Tas contributed to the accumulation of G0/G1 phase cycle arrest induced by the activation of the p53 signaling pathway and the nuclear transportation of HDAC4 via upregulating PPM1E expression. Together, these results demonstrated the different survival strategies by which foamy virus can hijack host cell cytokines and regulate virus-host cell interactions.

RESUMO

Excess mortality in people with schizophrenia has been extensively reported. However, little is known about the life expectancy and potential years of life lost (PYLL) in western China. This study aimed to estimated life expectancy and PYLL for people with schizophrenia in western China. A total of 228,572 people with schizophrenia were included from National Information System for Psychosis in one province of western China. Life-expectancy was calculated by using Chiang's method. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the age-sex standardized PYLL for different causes of death among different demographic characteristics groups. Life expectancy for men and women with schizophrenia was 52.8 years and 59.0 years respectively. The overall PYLL of people with schizophrenia was 18.4 years, and suicide had the largest PYLL (31.2 years) among all causes of mortality. The PYLL due to suicide was significantly higher among men, high school and above, non-poverty, non-farmer and divorced people with schizophrenia. The PYLL due to diseases and medical conditions was higher among men, illiteracy, farmer and unmarried people with schizophrenia. Strategies to prevent causes of premature death in schizophrenia are urgently required in western China, particularly in the promotion of physical health and prevention of suicide.

RESUMO

Developing advanced materials with a high-entropy concept is one of the hot trends in materials science. The configurational entropy of high-entropy materials can be tuned by introducing different atomic species, which can also impart a result in excellent physical and chemical properties. In this work, we synthesized a solid-solution oxide (Cu, Mn, Fe, Cr)3O4 by a simple and scalable solid-phase synthesis method. We extensively investigated the microstructure and chemical composition, indicating that (Cu, Mn, Fe, Cr)3O4 has a single-phase spinel structure. Simultaneously, we reasonably evaluated the position occupied by the elements of (Cu, Mn, Fe, Cr)3O4 in a spinel structure as (Cu0.75Fe0.25)(Fe0.25Cr0.375Mn0.375)2O4. Here, we first evaluated the infrared radiation performance of (Cu, Mn, Fe, Cr)3O4. The new, high-entropy oxide (HEO) (Cu, Mn, Fe, Cr)3O4 powder exhibits high infrared emissivity values of 0.879 and 0.848 in the wavelengths of 0.78-2.5 and 2.5-16 µm, respectively, and has excellent thermal stability. More importantly, the infrared emissivity values of as-prepared HEO coating reach 0.955 (0.78-2.5 µm) at room temperature and 0.936 (3-16 µm) at 800 °C. This work provides a viable strategy toward the laboratory mass production of this HEO for infrared radiation materials, which shows great potential in the energy-related applications.
