PURPOSE: Affecting one-third of the population worldwide and increasing, the sight-threatening condition myopia is causing a significant socio-economic burden. To better understand its etiology, recent studies investigated the role of ocular and systemic rhythms, yet results are conflicting. Here we profiled 24-h variations of axial length of the eye and salivary melatonin concentration in young adults with and without myopia and explored the potential impacts of bedtime on these rhythms. METHODS: A total of 25 healthy young adults (age 25.0 ± 4.8 years, 13 females) completed this study, including 13 myopes (mean spherical equivalent refractive error -2.93 ± 1.46 diopters) and 12 non-myopes (0.14 ± 0.42 diopters). Saliva sample collection and axial length measurements were repeated for seven times over 24 h starting from 8 am. Information on sleep and chronotype was collected at first visit with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire. RESULTS: Significant diurnal rhythms of axial length and salivary melatonin concentration were identified in both refractive groups (both p < 0.001), with no myopia-related rhythm difference (interaction of measurement time-point × myopia, p = 0.9). Late bedtime was associated with altered rhythms (p = 0.009) and smaller diurnal change (p = 0.01) in axial length. Elevated melatonin levels were observed in myopes (p = 0.006) and in late sleepers (p = 0.017). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that sleep/wake cycles may be involved in the regulation of axial length rhythms. Further research is needed to determine if there exists a causal relationship between the two.

Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NO3RR) is a process that requires the participation of eight electrons and nine protons. The regulation of active hydrogen (H*) supply and a deep understanding of related processes are necessary for improving the ammonia yield rate and Faradaic efficiency (FE). Herein, we synthesized a series of atomically precise copper-halide clusters Cu2X2(BINAP)2 (X = Cl, Br, I), among which the Cu2Cl2(BINAP)2 cluster shows the optimal ammonia FE of 94.0% and an ammonia yield rate of 373 µmol h-1 cm-2. In situ experiments and theoretical calculations reveal that halogen atoms, especially Cl in Cu2Cl2(BIANP)2, can significantly affect the distance of alkali metal-ionized water on the catalyst surface, which can promote the water dissociation to enhance the localized H* enrichment for the continues hydrogenation of nitrate to ammonia. This work explains the role of H* in the hydrogenation process of NO3RR and the importance of localized H* enrichment strategy for improving the FEs.

Aim: The aim of this study was to develop a validated nomogram to predict the risk of postoperative complications in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients by analyzing the factors that contribute to these complications. Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical information on patients who underwent CRC surgery at a single clinical center from January 2021 to December 2021. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify independent risk factors for postoperative complications and to develop a predictive model. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to calculate the area under the curve (AUC) to assess the predicted probability. Calibration curve was drawn to compare the predicted probability of the nomogram with the actual probability, and decision curve analysis (DCA) was employed to evaluate the clinical utility of the nomogram. Results: A total of 190 CRC patients were included in this study. We retrospectively collected baseline information, clinical information, surgical information, and nutrition-related indicators for all patients. Through multivariate logistic regression analysis, preoperative albumin (p = 0.041, OR = 0.906, 95% CI = 0.824-0.996), surgical time (p = 0.009, OR = 1.006, 95% CI = 1.001-1.010), waistline (p = 0.049, OR = 1.011, 95% CI = 1.002-1.020) and phase angle (PA) (p = 0.022, OR = 0.615, 95% CI = 0.405-0.933) were identified as independent risk factors for postoperative complications in CRC, and a nomogram prediction model was established using the above four variables. The AUC of 0.706 for the ROC plot and the high agreement between predicted and actual probabilities in the calibration curves suggested that the prediction model has good predictive power. The DCA also confirmed the good clinical performance of the nomogram. Conclusion: This study developed a nomogram to predict the risk of postoperative complications in CRC patients, providing surgeons with a reliable reference to personalized patient management in the perioperative period and preoperative nutritional interventions.

Separation/conversion disorders in functional coma with pseudocataplexy are rare.On December 9,2021,a young female patient with separation/conversion disorders was treated in the Department of Neurology in the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University.The main symptoms were episodic consciousness disorders,sudden fainting,and urinary incontinence.Complete laboratory tests and cranial magnetic resonance imaging showed no obvious abnormalities.Standard multi-channel sleep monitoring and multiple sleep latency tests were performed.The patient was unable to wake up during nap and underwent stimulation tests.There was no response to orbital pressure,loud calls,or tapping,while the α rhythm in all electroencephalogram leads and the increased muscular tone in the mandibular electromyography indicated a period of wakefulness.The results of 24-hour sleep monitoring suggested that the patient had sufficient sleep at night and thus was easy to wake up in the morning.The results of daytime unrestricted sleep and wake-up test showed that the patient took one nap in the morning and one nap in the afternoon.When the lead indicated the transition from N3 to N2 sleep,a wake-up test was performed on the patient.At this time,the patient reacted to the surrounding environment and answered questions correctly.Because the level of orexin in the cerebrospinal fluid was over 110 pg/mL,episodic sleep disorder was excluded and the case was diagnosed as functional coma accompanied by pseudocataplexy.The patient did not present obvious symptom remission after taking oral medication,and thus medication withdrawl was recommended.Meanwhile,the patient was introduced to adjust the daily routine and mood.The follow-up was conducted six months later,and the patient reported that she did not experience similar symptoms after adjusting lifestyle.Up to now,no similar symptoms have appeared in multiple follow-up visits for three years.Functional coma with pseudocataplexy is prone to misdiagnosis and needs to be distinguished from true coma and episodic sleep disorders.

In this work, a highly efficient rongalite/iodine-mediated oxime formation reaction for the preparation of thiohydroximic acids from methyl ketones by employing copper nitrate as the [NO] reagent has been developed. Notably, copper nitrate participated as both a catalyst and the mild oximation reagent in the transformation. This reaction is highly efficient and facile, with a broad substrate scope, especially for fused ring skeleton substrates, heterocyclic skeleton substrates, and acetyl-substituted natural products. Mechanistic studies revealed that copper nitrate might be converted into a NO2 radical or the NO2 radical dimeric forms as an ion-pair equivalent to participate in the transformation.

Lipid metabolism reprogramming stands as a fundamental hallmark of cancer cells. Unraveling the core regulators of lipid biosynthesis holds the potential to find promising therapeutic targets in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Here, it is demonstrated that platelet-derived growth factor C (PDGFC) orchestrated lipid metabolism, thereby facilitated the malignant progression of PDAC. Expression of PDGFC is upregulated in PDAC cohorts and is corelated with a poor prognosis. Aberrantly high expression of PDGFC promoted proliferation and metastasis of PDAC both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, PDGFC accelerated the malignant progression of PDAC by upregulating fatty acid accumulation through sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 (SREBP1), a key transcription factor in lipid metabolism. Remarkably, Betulin, an inhibitor of SREBP1, demonstrated the capability to inhibit proliferation and metastasis of PDAC cell lines, along with attenuating the process of liver metastasis in vivo. Overall, the study underscores the pivotal role of PDGFC-mediated lipid metabolism in PDAC progression, suggesting PDGFC as a potential biomarker for PDAC metastasis. Targeting PDGFC-induced lipid metabolism emerges as a promising therapeutic strategy for metastatic PDAC, with the potential to improve clinical outcomes.

INTRODUCTION: Heat stress poses a severe threat to the growth and production of soybean (Glycine max). Brassinosteroids (BRs) actively participate in plant responses to abiotic stresses, however, the role of BR signaling pathway genes in response to heat stress in soybean remains poorly understood. OBJECTIVES: In this study, we investigate the regulatory mechanisms of GmBSK1 and GmBES1.5 in response to heat stress and the physiological characteristics and yield performance under heat stress conditions. METHODS: Transgenic technology and CRISPR/Cas9 technology were used to generated GmBSK1-OE, GmBES1.5-OE and gmbsk1 transgenic soybean plants, and transcriptome analysis, LUC activity assay and EMSA assay were carried out to elucidate the potential molecular mechanism underlying GmBSK1-GmBES1.5-mediated heat stress tolerance in soybean. RESULTS: CRISPR/Cas9-generated gmbsk1 knockout mutants exhibited increased sensitivity to heat stress due to a reduction in their ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS). The expression of GmBES1.5 was up-regulated in GmBSK1-OE plants under heat stress conditions, and it directly binds to the E-box motif present in the promoters of abiotic stress-related genes, thereby enhancing heat stress tolerance in soybean plants. Furthermore, we identified an interaction between GmGSK1 and GmBES1.5, while GmGSK1 inhibits the transcriptional activity of GmBES1.5. Interestingly, the interaction between GmBSK1 and GmGSK1 promotes the localization of GmGSK1 to the plasma membrane and releases the transcriptional activity of GmBES1.5. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that both GmBSK1 and GmBES1.5 play crucial roles in conferring heat stress tolerance, highlighting a potential strategy for breeding heat-tolerant soybean crops involving the regulatory module consisting of GmBSK1 -GmGSK1-GmBES1.5.

The contribution of litterfall nutrient return to the maintenance of soil carbon pool and nutrient cycling is a crucial aspect of forest ecosystem functioning. Taking 21 tree species in subtropical young plantations as subjects, we investigated the correlation between litterfall nutrient return characteristics and functional traits of leaf and root and. The results showed notable variations in litterfall production, standing crop, and nutrient return across all the examined tree species. Mytilaria laosensis exhibited the highest litterfall production (689.2 g·m-2·a-1) and standing crop (605.1 g·m-2), while Cryptomeria fortunei demonstrated the lowest litterfall production (36.0 g·m-2·a-1) and standing crop (10.0 g·m-2). The nitrogen and phosphorus return amounts of 21 species ranged from 3.0 to 48.3 kg·hm-2 and from 0.1 to 2.0 kg·hm-2, respectively. Castanopsis fissa demonstrated the highest nitrogen return, while Liquidambar formosana exhibited the highest phosphorus return. C. fortunei had the lowest nitrogen and phosphorus return. Results of the stepwise regression analysis indicated that litterfall production exhibited a significant negative correlation with leaf nitrogen content and leaf dry matter content, and a significant positive correlation with fine root tissue density. Additionally, leaf nitrogen content, leaf dry matter content, and specific root length had a significant negative impact on standing crop. The structural equation modelling results indicated that leaf dry matter content had a direct or indirect negative effect on nitrogen return amount through the reduction of litterfall production. Conversely, fine root tissue density had a significant positive impact on nitrogen return amount by increasing litter leaf nitrogen content. Both leaf nitrogen content and leaf dry matter content had direct or indirect negative effects on phosphorus return amount through the reduction of litterfall production. In conclusion, the tree species with low leaf nitrogen content and dry matter content, as well as high fine root tissue density, was recommended for the establishment of plantations in the subtropical zone in order to enhance nutrient cycling through litter decomposition and improve soil fertility and forest productivity.

Bioenergy decline occurs with reperfusion following acute ischemic stroke. However, the molecular mechanisms that limit energy metabolism and their impact on post-stroke cognitive and emotional complications are still unclear. In the present study, we demonstrate that the p53 transcriptional response is responsible for neuronal adenosine triphosphate (ATP) deficiency and progressively neuropsychiatric disturbances, involving the downregulation of mitochondrial voltage-dependent anion channels (VDACs). Neuronal p53 transactivated the promoter of microRNA-183 (miR-183) cluster, thereby upregulating biogenesis of miR-183-5p (miR-183), miR-96-5p (miR-96), and miR-182-5p. Both miR-183 and miR-96 directly targeted and post-transcriptionally suppressed VDACs. Neuronal ablation of p53 protected against ATP deficiency and neurological deficits, whereas post-stroke rescue of miR-183/VDAC signaling reversed these benefits. Interestingly, cyclin-dependent kinase 9 (CDK9) was found to be enriched in cortical neurons and upregulated the p53-induced transcription of the miR-183 cluster in neurons after ischemia. Post-treatment with the CDK9 inhibitor oroxylin A promoted neuronal ATP production mainly through suppressing the miR-183 cluster/VDAC axis, further improved long-term sensorimotor abilities and spatial memory, and alleviated depressive-like behaviors in mice following stroke. Our findings reveal an intrinsic CDK9/p53/VDAC pathway that drives neuronal bioenergy decline and underlies post-stroke cognitive impairment and depression, thus highlighting the therapeutic potential of oroxylin A for better outcomes.

Litter layer, serving as the "skin" of forest soil, plays a crucial role in conserving water resources and maintaining soil and water conservation. We analyzed the relationship of tree species richness, community weighted mean traits, and functional diversity with the standing mass, maximum water holding rate, and effective water sto-rage capacity of litters from various tree species including Liquidambar formosana, Mytilaria laosensis, Castanopsis sclerophylla, Castanopsis hystrix, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Pinus massoniana, Fokienia hodginsii, Taxus wallichiana and their combinations of mixed forests in subtropical region. The results showed that across various tree species combinations, the ranges of maximum water holding rate, standing litter mass and effective water storage capacity of undecomposed layer were 0-419%, 0-0.58 t·hm-2, and 0-1.66 t·hm-2, respectively. For the semi-decomposition layer, these values spanned in 0-375%, 0-6.14 t·hm-2, and 0-16.03 t·hm-2, respectively. Tree species richness and community weighted mean specific leaf area had significantly positive effects on standing mass of litter and effective water storage capacity, while community weighted mean leaf N content had significantly negative effect on standing mass of litter. The maximum water holding rate increased with the increases of functional diversity of specific leaf area and community weighted mean specific leaf area, decreased with the increase of community weighted mean leaf thickness. Results of structural equation model showed that tree species richness increased litter water holding capacity by increasing functional diversity of specific leaf area. The community weighted mean specific leaf area increased the water holding capacity of litter layer by increasing standing mass of litter and the maximum water holding rate. It is necessary to consider planting mixed forest with higher community weighted mean specific leaf area in the management of subtropical artificial forest, so as to improve the water holding capacity of litter layer.

PURPOSE: This current study attempted to investigate whether one-stitch method (OM) of temporary ileostomy influenced the stoma-related complications after laparoscopic low anterior resection (LLAR). METHODS: We searched for eligible studies in four databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and CNKI from inception to July 20, 2023. Both surgical outcomes and stoma-related complications were compared between the OM group and the traditional method (TM) group. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was adopted for quality assessment. RevMan 5.4 was conducted for data analyzing. RESULTS: Totally 590 patients from six studies were enrolled in this study (272 patients in the OM group and 318 patients in the TM group). No significant difference was found in baseline information (P > 0.05). Patients in the OM group had shorter operative time in both the primary LLAR surgery (MD = - 17.73, 95%CI = - 25.65 to - 9.80, P < 0.01) and the stoma reversal surgery (MD = - 18.70, 95%CI = - 22.48 to -14.92, P < 0.01) than patients in the TM group. There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss of the primary LLAR surgery (MD = - 2.92, 95%CI = - 7.15 to 1.32, P = 0.18). Moreover, patients in the OM group had fewer stoma-related complications than patients in the TM group (OR = 0.55, 95%CI = 0.38 to 0.79, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The OM group had shorter operation time in both the primary LLAR surgery and the stoma reversal surgery than the TM group. Moreover, the OM group had less stoma-related complications.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions globally. It encompasses both motor and non-motor symptoms, with a notable impact on patients' quality of life. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a non-invasive tool that is increasingly utilized to investigate neural mechanisms in PD, identify early diagnostic markers, and assess therapeutic responses. Methods: The data were sourced from the Science Citation Index Expanded within the Web of Science Core Collection database, focusing on publications related to EEG research in PD from 2004 to 2023. A comprehensive bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software. The analysis began with an evaluation of the selected publications, identifying leading countries, institutions, authors, and journals, as well as co-cited references, to summarize the current state of EEG research in PD. Keywords are employed to identify research topics that are currently of interest in this field through the analysis of high-frequency keyword co-occurrence and cluster analysis. Finally, burst keywords were identified to uncover emerging trends and research frontiers in the field, highlighting shifts in interest and identifying future research directions. Results: A total of 1,559 publications on EEG research in PD were identified. The United States, Germany, and England have made notable contributions to the field. The University of London is the leading institution in terms of publication output, with the University of California closely following. The most prolific authors are Brown P, Fuhr P, and Stam C In terms of total citations and per-article citations, Stam C has the highest number of citations, while Brown P has the highest H-index. In terms of the total number of publications, Clinical Neurophysiology is the leading journal, while Brain is the most highly cited. The most frequently cited articles pertain to software toolboxes for EEG analysis, neural oscillations, and PD pathophysiology. Through analyzing the keywords, four research hotspots were identified: research on the neural oscillations and connectivity, research on the innovations in EEG Analysis, impact of therapies on EEG, and research on cognitive and emotional assessments. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis demonstrates a growing global interest in EEG research in PD. The investigation of neural oscillations and connectivity remains a primary focus of research. The application of machine learning, deep learning, and task analysis techniques offers promising avenues for future research in EEG and PD, suggesting the potential for advancements in this field. This study offers valuable insights into the major research trends, influential contributors, and evolving themes in this field, providing a roadmap for future exploration.

A cascade Nazarov cyclization/dicycloexpansions reaction was developed for the precise synthesis of the angularly fused M/5/N (M = 5, 6; N = 4-9, 13) tricyclic skeletons. The prioritized expansion of the first ring played a critical role in the transformations, due to the release of ring strain, and the nature of the substituents present on the substrate is another influencing factor. This pioneering cascade reaction features broad substrates scope (33 examples), short reaction time, exceptional yields (up to 95%), and remarkable regioselectivities (> 20:1). Exploiting the synthetic application of this cascade reaction, we successfully executed a succinct total synthesis of nominal madreporanone for the first time.

Patrinia punctiflora is a medical and edible Chinese herb with high nutritional and medicinal value. The continuing study of its chemical constituents led to the isolation of six iridoids, which were previously unreported compounds, patriscabioins PU (1-6). Their structures were characterized and confirmed with NMR (1D & 2D), HRMS, IR and UV. Among them, compound 5 was screened to evaluate its insulin resistance activity on an IR-HepG-2 cell model. Compound 5 had no cytotoxicity compared with the control group and could promote glucose uptake in IR-HepG-2 cells. Through further mechanism studies, the undescribed compound 5 could increase the expression levels of PI-3 K, p-AKT, GLUT4 and p-GSK3ß proteins. Moreover, the expression of PEPCK and G6Pase proteins, which are key gluconeogenic enzymes, was also inhibited. Thus, compound 5 promotes the transfer of GLUT4 to the plasma membrane by activating the PI-3 K/AKT signaling pathway, at the same time, promotes glycogen synthesis and inhibits the onset of gluconeogenesis, which in turn ameliorates insulin resistance.

Penile cancer is a rare malignant tumor of the male urinary system. The treatment benefit of standard first-line chemotherapy is not ideal for patients with locally advanced or metastatic lymph nodes. Immunotherapy has brought new treatment strategies and opportunities for patients with penile cancer. At present, clinical studies on immunotherapy for penile cancer have been reported, and the results show that it is effective but not conclusive. With the development of immunotherapy and the progress of molecular research technology, we can better screen the immunotherapy response population and explore new combination treatment regimens to evaluate the best combination regimen and obtain the optimal treatment options, which is also an important research direction for the immunotherapy of penile cancer in the future.

Superconductivity involving finite-momentum pairing1 can lead to spatial-gap and pair-density modulations, as well as Bogoliubov Fermi states within the superconducting gap. However, the experimental realization of their intertwined relations has been challenging. Here we detect chiral kagome superconductivity modulations with residual Fermi arcs in KV3Sb5 and CsV3Sb5 using normal and Josephson scanning tunnelling microscopy down to 30 millikelvin with a resolved electronic energy difference at the microelectronvolt level. We observe a U-shaped superconducting gap with flat residual in-gap states. This gap shows chiral 2a × 2a spatial modulations with magnetic-field-tunable chirality, which align with the chiral 2a × 2a pair-density modulations observed through Josephson tunnelling. These findings demonstrate a chiral pair density wave (PDW) that breaks time-reversal symmetry. Quasiparticle interference imaging of the in-gap zero-energy states reveals segmented arcs, with high-temperature data linking them to parts of the reconstructed vanadium d-orbital states within the charge order. The detected residual Fermi arcs can be explained by the partial suppression of these d-orbital states through an interorbital 2a × 2a PDW and thus serve as candidate Bogoliubov Fermi states. In addition, we differentiate the observed PDW order from impurity-induced gap modulations. Our observations not only uncover a chiral PDW order with orbital selectivity but also show the fundamental space-momentum correspondence inherent in finite-momentum-paired superconductivity.

Background and Objective: Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is a complex chronic disease caused by multiple factors that frequently occurs disease in the clinic. The worldwide prevalence of CAG is high. Interestingly, clinical CAG patients often present with a variety of symptom phenotypes, which makes it more difficult for clinicians to treat. Therefore, there is an urgent need to improve our understanding of the complexity of the clinical CAG population, obtain more accurate disease subtypes, and explore the relationship between clinical symptoms and medication. Therefore, based on the integrated platform of complex networks and clinical research, we classified the collected patients with CAG according to their different clinical characteristics and conducted correlation analysis on the classification results to identify more accurate disease subtypes to aid in personalized clinical treatment. Method: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) offers an empirical understanding of the clinical subtypes of complicated disorders since TCM therapy is tailored to the patient's symptom profile. We gathered 6,253 TCM clinical electronic medical records (EMRs) from CAG patients and manually annotated, extracted, and preprocessed the data. A shared symptom-patient similarity network (PSN) was created. CAG patient subgroups were established, and their clinical features were determined through enrichment analysis employing community identification methods. Different clinical features of relevant subgroups were correlated based on effectiveness to identify symptom-botanical botanical drugs correspondence. Moreover, network pharmacology was employed to identify possible biological relationships between screened symptoms and medications and to identify various clinical and molecular aspects of the key subtypes using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis. Results: 5,132 patients were included in the study: 2,699 males (52.60%) and 2,433 females (47.41%). The population was divided into 176 modules. We selected the first 3 modules (M29, M3, and M0) to illustrate the characteristic phenotypes and genotypes of CAG disease subtypes. The M29 subgroup was characterized by gastric fullness disease and internal syndrome of turbidity and poison. The M3 subgroup was characterized by epigastric pain and disharmony between the liver and stomach. The M0 subgroup was characterized by epigastric pain and dampness-heat syndrome. In symptom analysis, The top symptoms for symptom improvement in all three subgroups were stomach pain, bloating, insomnia, poor appetite, and heartburn. However, the three groups were different. The M29 subgroup was more likely to have stomach distention, anorexia, and palpitations. Citrus medica, Solanum nigrum, Jiangcan, Shan ci mushrooms, and Dillon were the most popular botanical drugs. The M3 subgroup has a higher incidence of yellow urine, a bitter tongue, and stomachaches. Smilax glabra, Cyperus rotundus, Angelica sinensis, Conioselinum anthriscoides, and Paeonia lactiflora were the botanical drugs used. Vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, and appetite loss are common in the M0 subgroup. The primary medications are Scutellaria baicalensis, Smilax glabra, Picrorhiza kurroa, Lilium lancifolium, and Artemisia scoparia. Through GO and KEGG pathway analysis, We found that in the M29 subgroup, Citrus medica, Solanum nigrum, Jiangcan, Shan ci mushrooms, and Dillon may exert their therapeutic effects on the symptoms of gastric distension, anorexia, and palpitations by modulating apoptosis and NF-κB signaling pathways. In the M3 subgroup, Smilax glabra, Cyperus rotundus, Angelica sinensis, Conioselinum anthriscoides, and Paeonia lactiflora may be treated by NF-κB and JAK-STAT signaling pathway for the treatment of stomach pain, bitter mouth, and yellow urine. In the M0 subgroup, Scutellaria baicalensis, Smilax glabra, Picrorhiza kurroa, Lilium lancifolium, and Artemisia scoparia may exert their therapeutic effects on poor appetite, stomach pain, vomiting, and nausea through the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Conclusion: Based on PSN identification and community detection analysis, CAG population division can provide useful recommendations for clinical CAG treatment. This method is useful for CAG illness classification and genotyping investigations and can be used for other complicated chronic diseases.

This study established an LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophage inflammatory injury model and an AS mouse vulnerable plaque model to observe the effect of JPHYP on macrophage inflammation, plaque formation, blood lipids, inflammation levels, intestinal flora and the influence of TLR4/MyD88/MAPK pathway, and explore the anti-AS effect and molecular mechanism of JPHYP, and detected 16S rRNA of mice intestinal microbes. The difference of intestinal flora in different groups of mice was compared to further explore the intervention effect of JPHYP and clarify the molecular biological mechanism of JPHYP in preventing and treating AS by regulating TLR4/MyD88/MAPK inflammatory signaling pathway and improving intestinal flora.

Background and Aim: Obesity is association with elevated risks of erosive esophagitis (EE), and metabolic abnormalities play crucial roles in its development. The aim of the study was to assess the association between metabolic obesity phenotypes and the risk of EE. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 11,599 subjects who had undergone upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2023. The enrolled individuals were grouped into four cohorts based on their metabolic health and obesity profiles, namely, metabolically healthy non-obesity (MHNO; n=2134, 18.4%), metabolically healthy obesity (MHO; n=1736, 15.0%), metabolically unhealthy non-obesity (MUNO; n=4290, 37.0%), and metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO; n=3439, 29.6%). The relationships of the different phenotypes of metabolic obesity with the risks of developing EE in the different sexes and age groups were investigated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: The MUNO, MHO, and MUO cohorts exhibited elevated risks of developing EE than the MHNO cohort. The confounding factors were adjusted for, and the findings revealed that the MUO cohort exhibited the greatest risk of EE, with odds ratios (ORs) of 5.473 (95% CI: 4.181-7.165) and 7.566 (95% CI: 5.718-10.010) for males and females, respectively. The frequency of occurrence of EE increased following an increase in proportion of metabolic risk factors. Subgroup analyses showed that the individuals under and over 60 years of age in the MHO, MUNO, and MUO cohorts exhibited elevated risks of developing EE. Further analysis suggested that obesity has a stronger influence on the risks of developing EE compared to metabolic disorders. Conclusion: Metabolic disorders and obesity are both related with an elevated risk of EE, in which obesity has a potentially stronger influence. Clinical interventions should target both obesity and metabolic disorders to reduce EE risk.

In recent years, ground-level-ozone(O3) pollution in urban areas in the Bohai Rim has attracted wide attention. Based on the analysis of the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of O3 concentration in Dongying, a representative city in the Bohai Rim from 2017 to 2022, the effects of meteorological factors and sea-land breeze circulation on O3 concentration were evaluated. The results showed that: ① From 2017 to 2022, the annual assessment value of O3 concentration in Dongying showed a fluctuating upward trend, and the pollution days with O3 as the primary pollutant increased. O3 pollution mainly occurred in spring, summer, and autumn, with the most severe O3 pollution episodes typically occurring in May and June, and the duration of O3 pollution season tended to be longer. The monthly variation in the daily maximum 8-h average ozone (MDA8 O3) presented a bimodal distribution, with significant increases in the 5th and 25th percentiles, and the spatial distribution was "high in the north and south, low in the middle." In addition, the nocturnal O3 concentration in recent years in Dongying also showed a significant increase trend. ② Meteorological factors greatly influenced O3 concentration in Dongying. When the temperature was greater than 30℃, the relative humidity was less than 50%, and the wind direction was south-southwest or east-northeast, a high O3 value was more likely to occur. Meteorological factors contributed 30% of the MDA8 O3 variation in Dongying during the study period. In the case of moderate and severe O3 pollution, the contribution of meteorological factors to the change in MDA8 O3 could be as high as 40%. ③ To some extent, sea-land breeze contributed to the occurrence of MDA8 O3 exceeding the secondary standard limit value of the National Ambient Air Quality Standard. In the afternoon, the hourly concentration of O3 during the sea-land breeze days was approximately 20 µg·m-3 higher than that during the non-sea-land breeze days. On the days of moderate and severe O3 pollution, the O3 concentration during the sea-land breeze days from 10:00 to 16:00 was higher than that during non-sea-land breeze days, and the O3 concentration was also at a high level from 20:00 to 23:00 on sea-land breeze days. In the O3 pollution season, the sea-land breeze could significantly affect the O3 level in coastal cities, which could bring significant challenges for O3 pollution prevention and control in this region. In the future, cities in the Bohai Rim need to further strengthen regional joint prevention and control of O3 pollution and increase emission reduction efforts of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds. This strategy could effectively lower pollutant concentrations within the land breeze air mass, consequently reducing the impact of the sea breeze air mass on air quality in cities in the Bohai Rim.
