RESUMO

In this study, walnut shell (WS) was used as feedstock, incorporating lithium carbonate (LC), sodium carbonate (SC), potassium carbonate (PC), and potassium hydroxide (PH) as pyrolysis catalysts and carbonization activators. A one-step method that allows catalytic pyrolysis and carbonization to be carried out consecutively under their respective optimal conditions is employed, enabling the concurrent production of high-quality pyrolysis oil, pyrolysis gas, and carbon materials from biomass conversion. The effects of LC, SC, PC, and PH on the yield and properties of products derived from WS pyrolysis as well as on the properties and performance of the resulting carbon materials were examined. The results indicated that the addition of LC, SC, PC, and PH enhanced the secondary cracking of tar, leading to increased solid and gas yields from WS. Additionally, it increased the production of phenolic compounds in bio-oil and H2 in syngas, concurrently yielding a walnut shell-based carbon material exhibiting excellent electrochemical performance. Specifically, when PC was used as an additive, the phenolic content in the pyrolysis oil increased by 27.64% compared to that without PC, reaching 74.9%, but the content of ketones, acids, aldehydes, and amines decreased. The hydrogen content increased from 2.5% (without the addition of PC) to 12.75%. The resulting carbon (WSC-PC) displayed a specific surface area of 598.6 m2 g-1 and achieved a specific capacitance of 245.18 F g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1. Even after 5000 charge and discharge cycles at a current density of 2 A g-1, the capacitance retention rate remained at 98.16%. This method effectively enhances the quality of the biomass pyrolysis oil, gas, and char, contributing to the efficient and clean utilization of biomass in industrial applications.

RESUMO

The KRAS gene belongs to the RAS family and codes for 188 amino acid residues of KRAS protein, with a molecular mass of 21.6 kD. Non-synonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs) have been identified within the coding region in which some are associated with different diseases. However, structural changes are not well defined yet. In this study, we first categorized SNPs in the KRAS coding area and then used computational methods to determine their impact on the protein structure and stability. In addition, the three-dimensional model of KRAS was taken from the Protein Data Bank for structural modeling. Furthermore, genomic data were extracted from a variety of sources, including the 1000 Genome Project, dbSNPs, and ENSEMBLE, and assessed through in silico methods. Based on various tools used in this study, 10 out of 48 missense SNPs with rsIDs were found deleterious. The substitution of alanine for proline at position 146 pushed several residues toward the center of the protein. Arginine instead of leucine has a minor effect on protein structure and stability. In addition, the substitution of proline for leucine at the 34th position disrupted the structure and led to a bigger size than the wild-type protein, hence interrupting the protein interaction. Using the well-intended computational approach and applying several bioinformatic tools, we characterized and identified most damaging nsSNPs and further explored the structural dynamics and stability of KRAS protein.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the impact of Orem-based nursing intervention on the pain levels, self-care abilities, psychological statuses, and quality of life in bone cancer patients. METHODS: A total of 91 patients with primary bone cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were randomly placed into one of two groups. The patients in the control group (n=43) underwent routine nursing care, and the patients in the experimental group (n=48) underwent Orem-based nursing care during the perioperative period. The two groups were compared in terms of their postoperative recovery times and treatment effects, and their adverse emotion scores, pain levels, self-care abilities, and quality of life before and after intervention. RESULTS: The treatment efficacy in the two groups was similar, but the postoperative recovery times in the experimental group were shorter than they were in the control group (P < 0.05). Compared with before the intervention, the SDS, SAS, and VAS scores were significantly decreased in both groups (P < 0.05), and their self-care abilities and quality of life were significantly higher (P < 0.05) after intervention. CONCLUSION: Orem-based nursing combined with perioperative care can mobilize patients' initiative, significantly improve patients' adverse emotions and pain levels, shorten their postoperative recovery times, and help improve their self-care abilities and quality of life.

RESUMO

Occupying public spaces can be an effective tactic for conveying a semantic message of protest and gaining wider support; however, it may also severely disrupt the everyday lives of non-participants and causes a backfire. Therefore, it remains unclear whether and how the occupy movements have shifted political attitudes among the general public. Bringing a social-spatial perspective to the case of the Occupy Central Movement (OCM) in Hong Kong, this study investigates how the attitudinal impact of occupation has varied according to people's spatial proximity to the protest sites. Using two waves of individual-level panel data collected right before and after the OCM and detailed geo-information on the respondents' home addresses and the occupied areas, we apply a difference-in-differences (DIDs) design to identify the causal link between space and attitudes. In addition, propensity score matching (PSM) methods are used to ensure the comparability of nearby and faraway residents. The results show that after the OCM, residents living near the occupied areas not only maintained their support for the pro-democracy camp but also became more liberal as compared to faraway residents. This phenomenon can be explained by the "on-site" effect, which suggests that the direct exposure to protestors' solidarity and the repressive actions of authorities arouse bystanders' sympathy for the protestors and support for their political cause. Such influence appears to be long-lasting and can be evidenced by the local election results after the protest.

RESUMO

AIMS: Lung cancer is one of the main results in tumor-related mortality. Methylation differences reflect critical biological features of the etiology of LUAD and affect prognosis. METHODS: In the present study, we constructed a prediction prognostic model integrating various DNA methylation used high-throughput omics data for improved prognostic evaluation. RESULTS: Overall 21,120 methylation sites were identified in the training dataset. Overall, 237 promoter genes were identified by genomic annotation of 205 CpG loci. We used Akakike Information Criteria (AIC) to obtain the validity of data fitting, but to prevent overfitting. After AIC clustering, specific methylation sites of cg19224164 and cg22085335 were left. Prognostic analysis showed a significant difference among the two groups (P = 0.017). In particular, the hypermethylated group had a poor prognosis, suggesting that these methylation sites may be a marker of prognosis. CONCLUSION: The model might help in the identification of unknown biomarkers in predicting patient prognosis in LUAD.

RESUMO

Polysaccharides (DAI-1 and DAI-2) from Dipsacus asperoides (D. asperoides) were obtained using mixed-bed ion exchange resin and Sephadex G-50 column chromatography following which their properties, structures, and activities were investigated. The results showed that DAI-1 and DAI-2 were homogeneous in nature, with glucose the only constituent, and had molecular masses of 17 and 4 kDa, respectively. Methylation analysis indicated that the backbones of DAI-1 and DAI-2 were mainly composed of (1→6)-linked glucose residues. DAI-1 possessed a small number of side chains and a branch point of (1→3, 6)-glucose, while DAI-2 lacked branching. Activity assays demonstrated that exposing osteoblasts to different DAI-1 concentrations (25, 50, or 100 µg/mL) in a high-glucose environment induced cell proliferation and led to a significant increase in bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) and runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) expressions at both the mRNA and protein levels. Moreover, DAI-1 treatment significantly increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and osteocalcin (OCN) activities in osteoblasts. Combined, our results suggested that DAI-1 may promote osteoblast proliferation and differentiation in a high-glucose environment.

RESUMO

Spatial mismatch theory argues that geographic barriers have significant adverse effects on (un)employment, especially with respect to disadvantaged workers. Existing debates on spatial mismatch have focused on its influence on unemployment, but few studies have paid attention to the impact of spatial factors on increasingly precarious employment in today's labor market. Using data from four waves of the Hong Kong Panel Study of Social Dynamics (HKPSSD), the 2011 Population Census and the 2016 Population By-census, this study aims to investigate the effects of spatial mismatch on precarious employment in the low- and high-skilled labor markets in Hong Kong with multi-leveled modeling. The results suggest that with higher levels of spatial mismatch, workers in the low-skilled labor market are more likely to be in precarious employment. In the high-skilled labor market, sub-degree holders are also more likely to engage in precarious employment. Even worse, spatial mismatch in Hong Kong has deteriorated over time. Based on these results, we offer policy recommendations and show how the study of spatial mismatch can inform policymaking. Overall, we contribute to the literature by demonstrating that spatial mismatch can lead to precarious employment among employed workers and has differentiated effects on low- and high-skilled labor markets.

RESUMO

Microbial colonization of catheter surfaces is responsible for most healthcare-associated infections. Quaternized chitin and chitosan have excellent antimicrobial and biocompatible properties and can be used to provide safe and prolonged protection for biomedical catheters. Herein, we prepared quaternized ß-chitin derivative (QC)- and quaternized chitosan derivative (QCS)-based antimicrobial surfaces. The quaternized polysaccharides modified TPU surfaces exhibited hydrophilicity, good biocompatibility. Among these, QCS2-modified TPU exhibited excellent antibacterial properties against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and prevented the adherence of bacteria compared with pristine TPU. The antibacterial activity of QCS2-modified surfaces maintained for 8 weeks under the condition of immersion in serum. An in vivo subcutaneous implantation experiment revealed 99.87% reduction of bacteria and reduced expression of inflammation-related factors in the surrounding tissue five days after implantation with QCS2-modified TPU. Therefore, quaternized polysaccharide-modified surfaces have promising potential in preventing medical catheter-associated infections.

RESUMO

Xianling Gubao Capsule (XGC), a kind of capsule preparation of Chinese herbal officially approved for sale by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), has the effect of tonifying kidney and strengthening bones. Although the impact of XGC in treating bone diseases has been widely studied, the effect of XGC in kidney injury is unknown yet. The kidney injury model is established by intraperitoneal injection with cadmium chloride (CdCl2). Before model establishment, each XGC group was pregavaged with XGC for 10 d. After 10 d, CdCl2 was injected intraperitoneally into the model group and each XGC group, each XGC group continued to be gavaged with XGC for 4 weeks, and the control group was gavaged with equal doses of distilled water once daily. The level of serum urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Cr) is evaluated by kit. The effect of XGC on protecting kidney injury in mice with kidney injury is analyzed by histopathology (HE stain), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). The results show that CdCl2 significantly increases the level BUN and Cr in serum and results in remarkable pathological changes in the nephron, including tubule edema, congestion, and necrosis. While oral administration of XGC can significantly decrease BUN and Cr in serum and prevent and protect the kidney from the above injuries. In addition, the protein expression of p-mTOR was remarkably reduced, and the ratio of LC3II/LC3I protein and mRNA was significantly increased in mice with oral administration of XGC. Our findings suggest that XGC can prevent and protect kidney injury by improving the state of renal tubular hyperemia and necrosis and reduce the level of BUN and Cr in cadmium poisoning mice.

RESUMO

Three major polysaccharides (wHEP-1, wHEP-2, and wHEP-3) were isolated from the mycelium of Hericium erinaceus. This study assessed their chemical and physical properties, molecular weight, monosaccharide compositions, and anti-ulcerative colitis ability to protect Caco-2 cells from lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation. The results showed that the average molecular weight of wHEP-1, wHEP-2, and wHEP-3 was 5010, 1812, and 1118 Da, respectively. wHEP-1 was composed of mannose, glucose, and galactose in a molar ratio of 1.2:16.9:1:1, whereas wHEP-2 and wHEP-3 were composed of glucose and galactose in different molar ratios. Anti-inflammatory activity was compared using LPS-induced Caco-2 cells and a rat model. wHEP-1 exhibited the best anti-inflammatory activity. Thus, the polysaccharide from H. erinaceus as a natural material shows potential for the development of alternative therapies.

RESUMO

The Tremella fuciformis Berk polysaccharides (TP) have significant cytokine-stimulating activity and low oral bioavailability owing to their large molecular volume. Identifying and studying the smallest active structure of TP can potentially be beneficial for further utilization and research, therefore, TP was hydrolyzed and fractionated to obtain its (1→3)-mannan backbone fragments. The fragments were further isolated by ion-exchange resin, ultrafiltration, gel, and HPLC chromatography, and three oligosaccharide fractions, named TL4-1, TL4-2, TL4-3, were obtained. According to the determination of their physicochemical properties, they were composed of Man, and after methylation analysis they were mainly characterized as (1→3)-mannan oligosaccharides with a straight chain. TL4-1 contained di-, trisaccharides, TL4-2 included tetra-, penta-saccharides, and TL4-3 was made up of hex-, hepta-, octa-saccharides, according to LC-ESI/MS analysis. Cytokine stimulation experiments showed that the degree of polymerization (DP) should be more than six to maintain the activity of mannosan. Therefore, the smallest active unit of oligo-mannose was determined. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: This paper reports the physical and chemical parameters, structure and biological potential of oligosaccharides from T. fuciformis Berk, a common edible fungus. Tremella has been used as an improving immunity drug in China with good effect. Oligosaccharides are more easily digested and utilized by human body, and maintain good activity. These results can increase people's interest in the product, and thus have a positive impact on the oligosaccharides of Tremella as health food.

RESUMO

A novel oligosaccharide showed that protection against LPS-induced Caco-2 cells was purified from the mycelium of Hericium erinaceus (HE). WEP-1 is mainly composed of neutral monosaccharides with molecular weight of 4,010 Da and of mannose, glucose, and galactose in a molar ratio of 1.2:16.9:1. The structure of WEP-1 includes α-D-Glc (1 â†’ 3) and ß-D-Gal (1 â†’ 3) as the backbone with ß-D-Glc (1 â†’ 3) as branches attached to the C-4 position and ß-D-Man as a terminal residue. The oligosaccharide reduced acetic acid-induced colonic mucosa injury in rats. It also showed significant protection against LPS-induced Caco-2 cells via the TLR4/NF-κB pathway. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: In the study, the oligosaccharide from HE has the potential to be developed into functional foods or medicines for the treatment of intestinal diseases. The protection against LPS-induced Caco-2 cells via the TLR4/NF-κB pathway may be a key target for the pharmacological activity of HE.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Guzhi Zengsheng Zhitongwan (GZZSZTW) is an effective formula of traditional Chinese herbal medicine and has been widely applied in the treatment of joint diseases for many years. The aim of this study was to dissect the molecular targets and signaling pathways of Guzhi Zengsheng Zhitongwan based on the analysis of serum proteomics. METHODS: The Chinese herbs of GZZSZTW were immersed in 5 l distilled water and boiled with reflux extraction method. The extract was filtered, concentrated and freeze-dried. The chemical profile of GZZSZTW extract was determined by high-performance lipid chromatography (HPLC). The 7-week old Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats in GZZSZTW groups were received oral administration at doses of 0.8, 1.05, and 1.3 g/kg per day and the rats in blank group were fed with drinking water. Serum samples were collected from the jugular veins. Primary chondrocyte viability was evaluated by CCK-8 assay. A full spectrum of the molecular targets and signaling pathways of GZZSZTW were investigated by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) analysis and a systematic bioinformatics analysis accompanied with parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) and siRNA validation. RESULTS: GZZSZTW regulated a series of functional proteins and signaling pathways responsible for cartilage development, growth and repair. Functional classification analysis indicated that these proteins were mainly involved in the process of cell surface dynamics. Pathway analysis mapped these proteins into several signalling pathways involved in chondrogenesis, chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation, and cartilage repair, including hippo signaling pathway, cGMP-PKG signaling pathway, cell cycle and calcium signaling pathway. Protein-protein interaction analysis and siRNA knockdown assay identified an interaction network consisting of TGFB1, RHO GTPases, ILK, FLNA, LYN, DHX15, PKM, RAB15, RAB1B and GIPC1. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that the effects of GZZSZTW on treating joint diseases might be achieved through the TGFB1/RHO interaction network coupled with other proteins and signaling pathways responsible for cartilage development, growth and repair. Therefore, the present study has greatly expanded our knowledge and provided scientific support for the underlying therapeutic mechanisms of GZZSZTW on treating joint diseases. It also provided possible alternative strategies for the prevention and treatment for joint diseases by using traditional Chinese herbal formulas.

RESUMO

The oligosaccharide Hep-2 from cultured mycelium of Hericium erinaceus was obtained with a hollow-fiber ultrafiltration cartridge and purified with a DEAE Sephadex A-50 column followed by a Bio-Gel P-30 column. The properties, structure, and antioxidant activities of Hep-2 were studied. Hep-2 had the molecular weight of 1,080 Da and consists of Glc and Gal in a molar ratio of 1.0:0.4. Fragmentation analysis by GC-MS suggests that the structure of Hep-2 consists of three linear sugar residues. Furthermore, we used the LC-MSn combined methylation method to determine the types of bonds between sugar residues. We found that the structure of Hep-2 is based on 2-7 sugars. Among these, the trisaccharides and pentasaccharides consist of 1 â†’ 6-Gal, whereas the tetrasaccharides, hexasaccharides, and heptasaccharides consist of 1 â†’ 4-Glc and 1 â†’ 6-Gal. The activity tests indicated that Hep-2 significantly reduced the damage caused by H2 O2 in GES-1 cells, and could induce expression of T-SOD and GSH-px, scavengers of oxygen free radicals, in a concentration-response manner. Hep-2 also reduced cell apoptosis as assessed by changes in the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax proteins by western blot. Both sets of results suggest that Hep-2 might possess significant antioxidant activity. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: This paper reports the physical and the chemical parameters, structure and biological potential of oligosaccharides from Hericium erinaceus, a common edible fungus. Hericium erinaceus has been used as an anti-atrophic gastritis drug in China with good effect. Oligosaccharides are more easily digested and utilized by human body, and have strong antioxidant activity. These results can increase people's interest in the product, and thus have a positive impact on the oligosaccharides of Hericium erinaceus as health food.

RESUMO

The construction of polymeric nanocomponents into a hierarchical structure poses great importance for subsequent biomedical applications. Herein, we report for the first time the electroassembly of chitin nanoparticles (14 nm ± 3 nm from transmission electron microscopy) to construct thick and freestanding hydrogels, which can be further dried to obtain high porous and tough aerogels for wound healing. The electroassembly is a simple, straightforward, and controllable process, which crucially depends on the pH of the chitin nanoparticle suspension and the degree of deacetylation of chitin. Interestingly, the electroassembly of chitin nanoparticles is completely reversible, suggesting the physical assembly feature of the freestanding hydrogel. By using supercritical CO2 drying and freeze-drying, chitin aerogels and cryogels can be facilely obtained. Because of the intriguing features (i.e., large surface area, interconnected porous structure, and enhanced hydrophilicity), chitin aerogels demonstrate adorable performance to accelerate the healing of wounds.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes in serum procalcitonin (PCT) in patients with severe pneumonia, and to analyze its value on evaluating the clinical outcome of patients with severe pneumonia. METHODS: A total of 58 patients with severe pneumonia aged over 18 years, and admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Zhuozhou City Hospital of Hebei Province from January 2017 to July 2018 were enrolled. The patients were divided into recovery group (the symptoms and signs of pneumonia disappeared or improved, and the X-ray chest films improved or did not make significant progress) and deterioration group (the symptoms and signs of pneumonia persisted or progressed, while X-ray chest radiography progressed, as well as serious complications such as involvement of other organ functions due to deterioration of pulmonary infection or septic shock) according to the therapeutic outcome. The serum PCT levels at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 days after severe pneumonia diagnosed were recorded, and procalcitonin clearance rate (PCTc) was calculated. The acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II) score was estimated within 24 hours when severe pneumonia was diagnosed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn, and the area under ROC curve (AUC) was calculated to analyze the value of PCTc on evaluating the clinical outcome of patients with severe pneumonia. RESULTS: Among 58 patients, 33 (56.9%) had better outcome after active treatment (recovery group), and 25 (44.1%) had worse condition (deterioration group). There was no significant difference in PCT level at 1 day or 3 days between the recovery group and the deterioration group [µg/L: 5.05 (3.89, 7.61) vs. 5.29 (4.15, 7.46) at 1 day, 4.59 (4.02, 6.90) vs. 5.70 (4.59, 7.28) at 3 days, both P > 0.05]. With the prolongation of treatment time, serum PCT level was gradually decreased in the recovery group, while remained at higher level in the deterioration group, which was significantly lowered at 5, 7, 9 days in the recovery group as compared with that in the deterioration group [µg/L: 2.92 (2.09, 3.42) vs. 6.09 (3.24, 7.96) at 5 days, 1.94 (1.50, 2.07) vs. 7.65 (5.60, 10.52) at 7 days, 1.37 (0.91, 1.74) vs. 8.96 (6.09, 10.87) at 9 days, all P < 0.01]. PCTc at 3, 5, 7, 9 days in the recovery group were significantly higher than those in the deterioration group [15.10 (-17.80, 32.10)% vs. -1.53 (-20.80, 11.48)% at 3 days, 47.50 (30.25, 60.34)% vs. 6.25 (-14.58, 29.05)% at 5 days, 76.44 (53.18, 77.92)% vs. -11.20 (-66.75, -1.38)% at 7 days, 80.01 (59.86, 88.27)% vs. -38.15 (-99.38, -2.81)% at 9 days, all P < 0.05]. ROC curve analysis showed that PCTc at 3, 5, 7 and 9 days were valuable for evaluating the clinical outcome of patients with severe pneumonia, and 9-day PCTc had the greatest value, the AUC was 0.978 [95% confidence interval (95%CI) = 0.945-1.000, P = 0.000], which was higher than APACHE II (AUC = 0.442, 95%CI = 0.280-0.610, P = 0.392); when the best cut-off value of 9-day PCTc was 93.00%, its sensitivity was 99.0%, and specificity was 87.3%. CONCLUSIONS: The PCT level of patients with severe pneumonia remained at a high level, which was related with the deterioration of the disease. PCTc, as an index to evaluate the clinical outcome of patients with severe pneumonia, has good application value.

RESUMO

Using data from a representative sample of Chinese adults who were surveyed in the Hong Kong Panel Study of Social Dynamics (HKPSSD), we estimate the effects of neighborhood discrimination towards immigrants from Mainland China on the mental health of Chinese residents in Hong Kong. Contrary to our expectations, discrimination towards immigrants from Mainland China measured at the neighborhood level is not associated with the poor mental health of post-1997 immigrants; instead, a higher level of immigrant discrimination is associated with a lower level of psychological distress for both post-1997 Mainland immigrants and other Chinese residents in Hong Kong. A functional family also appears to be a consistent predictor of better mental health for both groups. Our findings, therefore, suggest that immigrant discrimination can signify a prejudice that leads to social distance or avoidance and that the post-1997 Mainland immigrants do not have extensive contact with other local residents in Hong Kong. Although local residents' discriminatory attitudes may not result in aggressive behaviors that have a negative impact on newcomers' mental health, the social distance between the immigrants and the local residents is still an issue that requires further research and practical attention.

RESUMO

Family members, rather than mental health professionals, are often the first responders for emotional or mental problems, particularly in Chinese societies where family is regarded as the primary care unit. Using data from the third wave of a representative sample of Chinese adults in the Hong Kong Panel Study of Social Dynamics, we investigate how family, and particularly family functioning, is associated with individual mental health help seeking and perceived barriers to professional service use, and how the associations vary across different generations of immigrants and between individuals with high versus low psychological distress. Our results demonstrate that family is still the primary source of help sought for mental health problems. Stronger family functioning is particularly significant for second-generation immigrants when they consider seeking help from immediate family members. Seeking professional help is uncommon, and stronger family functioning is associated with a lower probability of seeking help from general health professionals and alternative services. A well-functioning family is related to certain structural and cultural barriers to seeking professional help, yet trust in professional mental health services does not diminish along with stronger family functioning, even among the high psychological distress subgroup. The findings indicate that family can facilitate mental illness prevention and service integration. It is recommended that appropriate family support and services be incorporated into mental health treatment according to clients' differential family circumstances.

RESUMO

Using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), a quantitative method was developed to control the quality of ribonucleic acid for injection II (RA-II), which is used as an anti-cancer drug clinically in China. Using nuclease enzyme and under optimal hydrolysis conditions, the unstable RNA was hydrolyzed into stable nucleosides and nucleotides, which were easily detected by HPLC with diode array detection. Furthermore, by analyzing HPLC chromatograms of 10 batches of samples, six common peaks, namely, cytosine nucleotide, uracil nucleotide, adenine nucleotide, guanine nucleotide, guanosine and adenine, were identified by a HLPC coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The similarity, the relative retention time and the relative peak area of each common peak, relative to the reference peak, were calculated to obtain the HPLC fingerprints, and their values were within the scope of the provisions. More importantly, all six components were simultaneously determined. Overall, the developed method in this investigation proved to be a useful tool for monitoring the quality of RA-II in terms of their batch variations and the raw material sources.

RESUMO

Nanocellulose is a promising candidate as a "green" reinforcing nanofiller for polymer nanocomposites. Three-dimensionally nanoporous cellulose gels (NCGs) have been demonstrated to exhibit significant dispersibility and compatibilization with hydrophobic polymers. We report a simple and versatile process for the fabrication of NCG/polystyrene (PS) nanocomposites by the in situ free radical polymerization of styrene monomers within the NCG. The volume fraction of the NCG in the NCG/PS nanocomposites could be controlled from 10% to 60%. The interconnected nanofibrillar cellulose networks of the NCG were finely distributed and well preserved in the PS matrix after polymerization. Dynamic mechanical analysis revealed a remarkable reinforcement in the tensile storage modulus of the NCG/PS nanocomposites, especially above the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the PS matrix. The modified percolation model was in good agreement with the mechanical properties of the NCG/PS nanocomposites. The introduction of the NCG into the PS matrix significantly improved the flexural and tension properties of the NCG/PS nanocomposites.
