RESUMO

Accurate identification and understanding of various metallic minerals are crucial for deciphering geological formations, structures, and ages. Giving their pivotal role as essential natural resources, a microscopic exploration of metallic minerals becomes imperative. Traditional analytical methods, while helpful, exhibit certain limitations. However, terahertz time-domain spectroscopy, distinguished by its high signal-to-noise ratio, expansive frequency band, and low incident wave energy, is a promising complement to conventional techniques in characterizing metallic minerals. This study employs terahertz time-domain spectroscopy to examine samples of Stibnite, Sphalerite, Galena, and Pyrite originating from diverse geological conditions. The vibrations of molecules within these metallic minerals induce discernible changes in the terahertz spectra. Our findings untiate the extensive potential of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy in the characterization of metallic minerals, affirming its considerable practical value in mineral resource exploration.

RESUMO

Grb2-associated binder 1 (Gab1) is often aberrant in cancerous cells and tissues, whose alteration is responsible for aggressive phenotypes. In this study, we examined the Gab1 expression in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues and investigated the cellular and molecular effect of Gab1 on migration, invasion, and cell growth of the OSCC cell lines SCC15 and SCC25. We found that Gab1 was overexpressed in OSCC tissues and cells, which is related to the protein levels of various molecules associated with cellular proliferation, migration, and invasion. Functional assays identified that Gab1 overexpression promoted cell proliferation and invasion of OSCC cells and inhibited cell apoptosis in the SCC15 and SCC25 cell lines. On the other hand, Gab1 silencing affected the proliferation and invasion of OSCC cells and induced cell apoptosis. Western blot assay identified that Gab1 overexpression suppressed the expression of Cdc20 homolog 1 (Cdh1) and then promoted cell invasion in OSCC cells. Furthermore, Gab1-mediated Cdh1 downregulation was significantly reversed when the cells were subjected to an inhibitor of p-Akt. In conclusion, these results suggested that Gab1 induced malignant progression of OSCC cells probably via activation of the Akt/Cdh1 signaling pathway. Thus, Gab1 may be a potential therapeutic target in the treatment of OSCC patients.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the relationship of the incisive alveolar structure and vertical facial type between osteal Class III malocclusion and normal occlusion. METHODS: Forty-seven lateral cephalometrics of patients with osteal Class III malocclusion and forty-three lateral cephalometrics of controls with normal occlusion were randomly selected before treatment. Then the incisive alveolar structure was measured and analyzed, the results were analyzed with Student's t test. RESULTS: (1) In osteal Class III malocclusion; the UP value in the group of high mandibular angle decreased significantly than that in the groups of middle and low mandibular angle (P<0.05); the LA and MxAD value in the group of high mandibular angle decreased significantly than that in the group of middle mandibular angle (P<0.05). (2) In normal occlusion, the MdAD and LA value in the group of high mandibular angle decreased significantly than that in the groups of middle and low mandibular angle(P<0.05). (3) In patients with the same mandibular angle, the LA and MdAD value in normal occlusion increased significantly than those in osteal Class III malocclusion (P<0.05);the UP value, in normal occlusion increased significantly than osteal Class III malocclusion within the groups of middle and low mandibular angle (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: The incisive alveolar structure was different in different vertical facial type and the same vertical facial types between osteal Class III malocclusion and normal occlusion.
