RESUMO

The Ningdong coalfield has played a pivotal role in advancing local economic development and meeting national energy. Nevertheless, mining operations have engendered ecological challenges encompassing subterranean water depletion, land desertification, and ground subsidence, primarily stemming from the disruption of coal seam roof strata. Consequently, the local ecosystem has incurred substantial harm. Water-preserved coal mining presently constitutes the pivotal technology in mitigating this problem. The primary challenge of this technique lies in identifying critical aquifer layers and understanding the heights of water-conducting fracture zones. To obtain a precise comprehension of the seepage patterns within the upper coal seam aquifer during mining, delineate the extent of water-conducting fracture zones, non-invasive geophysical techniques such as time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (TL-ERT), magnetic resonance sounding (MRS), and spontaneous potential (SP) have been employed to monitor alterations within the shallow coalfield's aquifer throughout the mining process in the Ningdong coalfield. By conducting meticulous examinations of fluctuations in resistivity, moisture content, and self-potential within the superjacent strata during coal seam extraction, the predominant underground water infiltration strata were ascertained, concurrently enabling the estimation of the development elevation of water-conducting fracture zones. This outcome furnishes a geophysical underpinning for endeavors concerning local water-preserved coal mining and ecological rehabilitation.

RESUMO

Several people around the world have died from the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease. With the increase in COVID-19 cases, distribution, and deaths, much has occurred regarding the ban on travel, border closure, curfews, and the disturbance in the supply of services and goods. The world economy was severely affected by the spread of the virus. Every day, new discussions and debates started, and more people were in fear. Occasionally, unconfirmed information is shared on social media sites as if it were accurate information. Sometimes, it becomes viral and disturbs people's emotions and beliefs. Fake news and rumors are widespread forms of unconfirmed and false information. This type of news should be tracked speedily to prevent its negative impact on society. An ideal system is the dire need of modern-day society to evaluate the Internet rumors on COVID. Therefore, the current study has considered a probabilistic approach for evaluating the Internet rumors about COVID. The fuzzy logic tool in MATLAB was used for experimental and simulation purposes. The results revealed the effectiveness of the proposed work.

RESUMO

Based on applied linguistics, this study looked at the decision support system (DSS) for emphasizing self-assurance in academic writing. From a generic perspective, academic writing has been considered both a process and a product. It has highlighted the planning composite processes, editing, composing, revising, and assessment, which depend upon the familiarity of someone with confidence in their capability for engagement in these activities. As a product, it has focused on the writing results through the product's characteristics. These contain specific content areas in acceptable depth and well-structured technical vocabulary. Higher education aims to support students in optimizing their potential for achieving satisfactory outcomes. For example, the assessment of grades involves academic writing, contributing to the degree course classification. Students have differences in many respects, such as expectations, background knowledge, and study and learning approaches. There were varying students' beliefs about what academic writing is for evaluation. Modern-day motivations and theories highlight the significance of students' confidence in their studies. The role of high confidence can support students to apply more effort toward setting challenging goals. Students may find it more difficult to succeed in higher education if they lack confidence in their academic writing abilities. A DSS has many applications in diverse areas and can play a significant role in the ranking and prioritization process. The current study has considered the DSS for prioritizing self-assurance in academic writing based on applied linguistics. Various criteria were considered for the evaluation of the research. The Super Decision software was used for the experimental process of the proposed research. The results of the study show the effectiveness of the proposed research.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship of the serum levels of inflammatory cytokines with the degree of anemia and vascular endothelial function in children with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), as well as to explore the predictive value of risk factors for SLE in children. METHODS: A total of 88 patients with SLE diagnosed in the Pediatric Department of our hospital from March 2015 to February 2017 were selected as the observation group, and 30 healthy controls with comparable age were selected as the control group. Basic characteristics of all enrolled individuals, such as age, sex, height and weight, and the related biochemical indexes, including the levels of inflammatory cytokines [C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)], blood routine test including hemoglobin (Hb), platelet (PLT) and mean corpuscular volume as well as related indexes of vascular endothelial function, such as homocysteine (Hcy), carbonic oxide (NO), endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) were measured. In addition, the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) score of patients was also recorded. RESULTS: There were no significant differences regarding age, sex, body mass index (BMI), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) between observation group and control group (p > 0.05), but the total cholesterol (TC) level in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group (p < 0.05). In addition, the levels of CRP, TNF-α, IL-6 and ESR in serum in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (p < 0.05). However, the Hb, PLT and mean corpuscular volume in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (p < 0.05). Moreover, the levels of Hcy, NO and eNOS in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, correlation analyses showed that CRP was positively correlated with SLEDAI score (r = 0.791, p < 0.001) and Hcy level (r = 0.817, p < 0.001), but negatively correlated with Hb level (r = -0.663, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: There is a close relationship between serum inflammatory cytokines and SLE severity, Hcy or Hb level in children, suggesting these inflammatory cytokines might be novel indicators for evaluating the severity of SLE.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To describe a rare case of aggressive fibromatosis of the stomach and discuss the differential diagnoses. METHODS: A 47-year-old man presented with nonspecific abdominal pain. Gastroscopy revealed stomach wall swelling. An antral gastrectomy was performed. Histological examination revealed spindle-shaped cells and morphology typical of aggressive fibromatosis. We performed a literature search to identify conditions with features similar to those of aggressive fibromatosis. RESULTS: Aggressive fibromatosis does not metastasize, but it is locally invasive and has a tendency to relapse; however, our patient has not had recurrence > 1 year after surgery. Aggressive fibromatosis of the stomach may be confused with an inflammatory fibroid polyp, a gastrointestinal stromal tumor, schwannoma, leiomyoma, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor, scirrhous carcinoma of the stomach, follicular dendritic cell sarcoma, inflammatory malignant fibrous histiocytoma, myofibroma/myofibromatosis, and solitary fibrous tumor of the stomach. CONCLUSIONS: Aggressive fibromatosis of the stomach is a rare spindle cell tumor that must be differentiated from a variety of conditions.

RESUMO

Methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) accounts for ∼40% of staphylococcal infections in China. However, the molecular characterization of MSSA is not well described. In this study, 124 MSSA strains collected in 2013 from a comprehensive teaching hospital in Chongqing, Southwestern China, were subjected to antibiotics susceptibility testing and molecular typing, including multilocus sequence typing, staphylococcal protein A (spa) gene typing, accessory gene regulator (agr) typing, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) typing, Panton-Valentine leukocidin (pvl) gene detection, and antibiotic-resistant gene detection. MSSA strains exhibited high genetic heterogeneity. A total of 10 PFGE groups, 26 sequence types, and 47 spa types were identified. Type I (62.9%) was the most frequent agr type, followed by type II (15.3%), type IV (11.3%), and type III (10.5%). The prevalence of pvl genes was 27.4% (34/124). Notably, 44.4% (55/124) of MSSA strains were multidrug resistance (MDR), and MDR isolates were mostly resistant to penicillin, erythromycin, and clindamycin. The resistance gene blaZ was present in 84.7% of strains, ermC was present in 85.5% of strains, ermA was present in 28.2% of strains, tetK was present in 16.1% of strains, tetM was present in 6.5% of strains, and aacA-aphD was present in 2.6% of strains. These data demonstrated the high prevalence of MDR MSSA in Chongqing, thereby indicating the need to control MSSA infection.

RESUMO

Using an in vitro model in which flatmounts of oesophagus was periodically exposed to bile acids, we demonstrate, using multiple methods, that the bile acid receptor TGR5, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and γ-histone family 2A variant (γ-H2AX) are up-regulated. This indicates that bile acids cause up-regulation of iNOS, which further causes genotoxic stress as evidenced by increase of the highly sensitive marker, phosphorylated histone. In vitro nitric oxide (NO) assays showed increased production of nitric acid in the oesophageal epithelium exposed to the bile acids. This increase was inhibited in the presence of the nonspecific iNOS inhibitor aminoguanidine (AG). Cumulatively, the results of the present study provide suggestion that not only acid reflux, but also non-acid reflux of bile may cause genotoxic stress. These aspects merit to be tested in wide spectrum of Barrett epithelial tissues.

RESUMO

Sequence type (ST) 239 with SCCmec type III methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (ST239-MRSA-III) is the most predominant multidrug-resistant clone in China. The subclone ST239-MRSA-III-t037 has been gradually replaced with ST239-MRSA-III-t030 since 2000. Subclones are characterized by drug resistance profiles. However, the mechanisms of the clonal dynamics and determinants of distinct drug resistance remain poorly understood. In the present study, 12 ST239-MRSA-III-t030 and 12 ST239-MRSA-III-t037 strains were collected from Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai; these strains were selected and investigated in terms of t030/t037 strain pairs. Independent growth curve assay revealed that the ST239-MRSA-III-t030 strains grew more rapidly, with significantly shorter doubling times, than the ST239-MRSA-III-t037 strains (p < 0.001). The ST239-MRSA-III-t037 strains exhibited slightly to moderately higher (3-13%) fitness cost than the ST239-MRSA-III-t030 strains in a competition assay in vitro. The ST239-MRSA-III-t037 strains yielded lower bacterial loads in the kidneys of the infected mice than the ST239-MRSA-III-t030 rivals in a coinfection assay (p < 0.05). The ST239-MRSA-III-t030 strains were resistant to rifampicin but susceptible to trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (SXT). In contrast, the ST239-MRSA-III-t037 strains were susceptible to rifampicin but resistant to SXT. The genetic determinants of the resistance to rifampicin and SXT in the MRSA strains were determined. Our results suggest that the relatively low fitness cost and characteristic drug resistance phenotype can help explain the current predominance of these ST239-MRSA-III-t030 strains in Chinese hospitals.

RESUMO

Acquisition of the staphylococcal chromosome cassette mec (SCCmec) is one of the key reasons for the resistance of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). SCCmec is composed of a mec gene complex encoding the PBP2a determinant that is responsible for the ß-lactam resistance of MRSA, and a ccr gene complex encoding recombinases that mediate the integration of SCCmec into and its excision from the recipient chromosome, and so-called three junkyard (J) regions of different sizes. The SCCmec elements carried by MRSA from different geographic locations are diverse, and each type contains characteristic DNA fragments in size. These characteristics of SCCmec element may facilitate the usage of SCCmec in the molecular typing of MRSA strains. In this review, we summarize the structure and function of SCCmec elecments, and discuss the application of SCCmec elements in the molecular typing of MRSA.
