RESUMO

Branch number is one of the most important agronomic traits of fruit trees such as peach. Little is known about how LncRNA and/or miRNA modules regulate branching through transcription factors. Here, we used molecular and genetic tools to clarify the molecular mechanisms underlying brassinosteroid (BR) altering plant branching. We found that the number of sylleptic branch and BR content in pillar peach ('Zhaoshouhong') was lower than those of standard type ('Okubo'), and exogenous BR application could significantly promote branching. PpTCP4 expressed great differentially comparing 'Zhaoshouhong' with 'Okubo'. PpTCP4 could directly bind to DWARF2 (PpD2) and inhibited its expression. PpD2 was the only one differentially expressed key gene in the path of BR biosynthesis. At the same time, PpTCP4 was identified as a target of miR6288b-3p. LncRNA1 could act as the endogenous target mimic of miR6288b-3p and repress expression of miR6288b-3p. Three deletions and five SNP sites of lncRNA1 promoter were found in 'Zhaoshouhong', which was an important cause of different mRNA level of PpTCP4 and BR content. Moreover, overexpressed PpTCP4 significantly inhibited branching. A novel mechanism in which the lncRNA1-miR6288b-3p-PpTCP4-PpD2 module regulates peach branching number was proposed.

Peach fruit rapidly soften after harvest, a significant challenge for producers and marketers as it results in rotting fruit and significantly reduces shelf life. In this study, we identified two tandem genes, PpNAC1 and PpNAC5, within the sr (slow ripening) locus. Phylogenetic analysis showed that NAC1 and NAC5 are highly conserved in dicots and that PpNAC1 is the orthologous gene of Non-ripening (NOR) in tomato. PpNAC1 and PpNAC5 were highly expressed in peach fruit, with their transcript levels up-regulated at the onset of ripening. Yeast two-hybrid and bimolecular fluorescence complementation assays showed PpNAC1 interacting with PpNAC5 and this interaction occurs with the tomato and apple orthologues. Transient gene silencing experiments showed that PpNAC1 and PpNAC5 positively regulate peach fruit softening. Yeast one-hybrid and dual luciferase assays and LUC bioluminescence imaging proved that PpNAC1 and PpNAC5 directly bind to the PpPGF promoter and activate its transcription. Co-expression of PpNAC1 and PpNAC5 showed higher levels of PpPGF activation than expression of PpNAC1 or PpNAC5 alone. In summary, our findings demonstrate that the tandem transcription factors PpNAC1 and PpNAC5 synergistically activate the transcription of PpPGF to regulate fruit softening during peach fruit ripening.

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, diabetic wound healing remains a crucial challenge due to their protracted and uncertain healing process. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has demonstrated the therapeutic value of Sanguis draconis (SD)-Salvia miltiorrhiza (SMR) Herb Pair in diabetic wound healing. However, new administration modes are urgently needed for their convenient and wide-ranging applications. OBJECTIVE: We propose a soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone-based microneedle patch containing the herbal extracts of SD and SMR (MN-SD@SMR) for diabetic wound healing. METHODS: The herbal extracts of SD and SMR are purification and concentration via traditional lyophilization. SD endowed MN-SD@SMR with functions to improve high glycemic blood environment and migration of keratinocyte and fibroblast cells. RESULTS: SMR in MN-SD@SMR could improve blood flow velocity and microcirculation in the wound area. The effectiveness of transdermal release and mechanical strengths of MN-SD@SMR were verified. CONCLUSION: Integrating the advantages of these purified herbal compositions, we demonstrated that MN-SD@SMR had a positive healing effect on the wounds in vitro and vivo. These results indicate that soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone-based microneedle patch containing the herbal extracts of SD and SMR has a promising application value due to their superior capability to promote diabetic wound healing.

The solar light-responsive Fe-doped Co-based coordination polymer (Fe@Co-CP) photocatalyst was synthesized under mild conditions. [Co(4-padpe)(1,3-BDC)]n (Co-CP) was first constructed using mixed ligands through the hydrothermal method. Then, Fe was introduced into the Co-CP framework to achieve the enhanced photocatalytic activity. The optimal Fe@Co-CP-2 exhibited excellent catalytic degradation performance for norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin under sunlight irradiation without auxiliary oxidants, and the degradation rates were 91.25 and 92.66% in 120 min. These excellent photocatalytic properties were ascribed to the generation of the Fe-O bond, which not only enhanced the light absorption intensity but also accelerated the separation efficiency of electrons and holes, and hence significantly improved the photocatalytic property of the composites. Meanwhile, Fe@Co-CP-2 displayed excellent stability and reusability. In addition, the degradation pathways and intermediates of antibiotic molecules were effectively analyzed. The free radical scavenging experiment and ESR results confirmed that •OH, •O2-, and h+ active species were involved in the catalytic degradation reaction; the corresponding mechanisms were deeply investigated. This study provides a fresh approach for constructing Fe-doped Co-CP-based composite materials as photocatalysts for degradation of antibiotic contaminants.

Polyploidy (genome duplication) is a pivotal force in evolution. However, the interactions between parental genomes in a polyploid nucleus, frequently involving subgenome dominance, are poorly understood. Here we showcase analyses of a bamboo system (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) comprising a series of lineages from diploid (herbaceous) to tetraploid and hexaploid (woody), with 11 chromosome-level de novo genome assemblies and 476 transcriptome samples. We find that woody bamboo subgenomes exhibit stunning karyotype stability, with parallel subgenome dominance in the two tetraploid clades and a gradual shift of dominance in the hexaploid clade. Allopolyploidization and subgenome dominance have shaped the evolution of tree-like lignified culms, rapid growth and synchronous flowering characteristic of woody bamboos as large grasses. Our work provides insights into genome dominance in a remarkable polyploid system, including its dependence on genomic context and its ability to switch which subgenomes are dominant over evolutionary time.

Transient transformation is extremely useful for rapid in vivo assessment of gene function, especially for fruit-related genes. Grape berry, while an important fruit crop, is recalcitrant to transient transformation, due to the high turgor pressure in its mesocarp cells that limits the ability of Agrobacterium to penetrate into the tissue. It is urgent to establish a simple transient transformation system for rapid analysis of gene function. In this study, different injection methods, grape genotypes, and developmental stages were tested in order to develop a rapid and efficient Agrobacterium-mediated transient transformation methodology for grape berries. Two injection methods, namely punch injection and direct injection, were evaluated using the ß-glucuronidase (GUS) gene and by x-gluc tissue staining and 4-methylumbelliferyl-ß-D-glucuronide fluorescence analysis. The results indicated that there were no significant differences on transformation effects between the two methods, but the latter was more suitable because of its simplicity and convenience. Six grape cultivars ('Hanxiangmi', 'Moldova', 'Zijixin', 'Jumeigui', 'Shine-Muscat', and 'A17') were tested for transient transformation. 'Hanxiangmi', 'Moldova', and 'Zijixin' grape berries were not suitable for agroinfiltration due to frequently fruit cracking, browning, and formation of scar skin. The fruit integrity rates of 'Jumeigui', 'Shine-Muscat', and 'A17' berries were all above 80%, and GUS activity was detected in the berries of the three cultivars 3-14 days after injection with the Agrobacterium culture, while higher GUS activities were observed in the 'Jumeigui' berries. The levels of GUS activity in injected berries at 7-8 weeks after full blooming (WAFB) were more than twice at 6 WAFB. In subsequent assays, the over-expression of MYB transcription factor VvMYB44 via transient transformation accelerated the anthocyanin accumulation and fruit coloring through raising the expression levels of VvLAR1, VvUFGT, VvLDOX, VvANS, and VvDFR, which verified the effectiveness of this transformation system. These experiments finally identified the reliable grape cultivars and suitable operational approach for transient transformation and further indicated that this Agrobacterium-mediated transient transformation system was efficient and suitable for the elucidation of gene function in grape berries.

BACKGROUND: Stent implantation is a highly efficacious intervention for the treatment of coronary atherosclerosis. Nevertheless, stent thrombosis and other post-operative complications persist, and the underlying mechanism of adverse event remains elusive. METHODS: In the present study, a dissipative particle dynamics model was formulated to simulate the motion, adhesion, activation, and aggregation of platelets, with the aim of elucidating the mechanisms of in-stent thrombosis. FINDINGS: The findings suggest that stent thrombosis arises from a complex interplay of multiple factors, including endothelial injury resulting from stent implantation and alterations in the hemodynamic milieu. Furthermore, the results suggest a noteworthy association between in-stent thrombosis and both the length of the endothelial injured site and the degree of stent malposition. Specifically, the incidence of stent thrombosis appears to rise in tandem with the extent of the injured site, while moderate stent malposition is more likely to result in in-stent thrombosis compared to severe or minor malposition. INTERPRETATION: This study offers novel research avenues for investigating the plasticity mechanism of stent thrombosis, while also facilitating the clinical prediction of stent thrombosis formation and the development of more precise treatment strategies.

OBJECTIVES: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by hypoxia in the synovial tissue. While photoacoustic imaging (PA) offers a method to evaluate tissue oxygenation in RA patients, studies exploring the link between extra-synovial tissue of wrist oxygenation and disease activity remain scarce. We aimed to assess synovial oxygenation in RA patients using a multimodal photoacoustic-ultrasound (PA/US) imaging system and establish its correlation with disease activity. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on 111 patients with RA and 72 healthy controls from 2022 to 2023. Dual-wavelength PA imaging quantified oxygen saturation (So2) levels in the synovial membrane and peri-wrist region. Oxygenation states were categorised as hyperoxia, intermediate oxygenation, and hypoxia based on So2 values. The association between oxygenation levels and the clinical disease activity index was evaluated using a one-way analysis of variance, complemented by the Kruskal-Wallis test with Bonferroni adjustment. RESULTS: Of the patients with RA, 39 exhibited hyperoxia, 24 had intermediate oxygenation, and 48 had hypoxia in the wrist extra-synovial tissue. All of the control participants exhibited the hyperoxia status. Oxygenation levels in patients with RA correlated with clinical metrics. Patients with intermediate oxygenation had a lower disease activity index compared with those with hypoxia and hyperoxia. CONCLUSION: A significant correlation exists between wrist extra-synovial tissue oxygenation and disease activity in patients with RA.

Objective: Clear renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a common and deadly urinary system tumor. The TNM system determines treatment and prognosis based on cancer advancement. While nephron-sparing surgery is an option for localized ccRCC, advanced cases are challenging, and molecular-targeted therapy is crucial. Methods: Here, we implemented microarray datasets to identify a total of 119 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and ten hub genes by a protein-protein interaction network (PPI) and performed module analysis through STRING and Cytoscape. Results: Data from this analysis shed light on a positive correlation between SLC12A3 (solute carrier family 12 member 3) and tumor-correlated cells. SLC12A3 can predict prognosis and immune infiltration levels in KIRC patients. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that SLC12A3 expression accounts for favorable prognosis and increased immune infiltration of various cell types. This could lead to potential therapeutic aims and biomarkers for KIRC (kidney renal clear cell carcinoma).

To improve the detection of COVID-19, this paper researches and proposes an effective swarm intelligence algorithm-driven multi-threshold image segmentation (MTIS) method. First, this paper proposes a novel RIME structure integrating the Co-adaptive hunting and dispersed foraging strategies, called CDRIME. Specifically, the Co-adaptive hunting strategy works in coordination with the basic search rules of RIME at the individual level, which not only facilitates the algorithm to explore the global optimal solution but also enriches the population diversity to a certain extent. The dispersed foraging strategy further enriches the population diversity to help the algorithm break the limitation of local search and thus obtain better convergence. Then, on this basis, a new multi-threshold image segmentation method is proposed by combining the 2D non-local histogram with 2D Kapur entropy, called CDRIME-MTIS. Finally, the results of experiments based on IEEE CEC2017, IEEE CEC2019, and IEEE CEC2022 demonstrate that CDRIME has superior performance than some other basic, advanced, and state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of global search, convergence performance, and escape from local optimality. Meanwhile, the segmentation experiments on COVID-19 X-ray images demonstrate that CDRIME is more advantageous than RIME and other peers in terms of segmentation effect and adaptability to different threshold levels. In conclusion, the proposed CDRIME significantly enhances the global optimization performance and image segmentation of RIME and has great potential to improve COVID-19 diagnosis.

Plant-pathogenic phytoplasmas secrete specific virulence proteins into a host plant to modulate plant function for their own benefit. Identification of phytoplasmal effectors is a key step toward clarifying the pathogenic mechanisms of phytoplasma. In this study, Zaofeng3, also known as secreted jujube witches' broom phytoplasma protein 3 (SJP3), was a homologous effector of SAP54 and induced a variety of abnormal phenotypes, such as phyllody, malformed floral organs, witches' broom, and dwarfism in Arabidopsis thaliana. Zaofeng3 can also induce small leaves, dwarfism, and witches' broom in Ziziphus jujuba. Further experiments showed that the three complete α-helix domains predicted in Zaofeng3 were essential for induction of disease symptoms in jujube. Yeast two-hybrid library screening showed that Zaofeng3 mainly interacts with proteins involved in flower morphogenesis and shoot proliferation. Bimolecular fluorescence complementation assays confirmed that Zaofeng3 interacted with these proteins in the whole cell. Overexpression of zaofeng3 in jujube shoot significantly altered the expression patterns of ZjMADS19, ZjMADS47, ZjMADS48, ZjMADS77, and ZjTCP7, suggesting that overexpressing zaofeng3 might induce floral organ malformation and witches' broom by altering the expression of the transcriptional factors involved in jujube morphogenesis.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to comprehensively explore the ocular toxicity associated with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. Materials & methods: Data were assembled from the US FDA's Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database from 2017 to 2023. Information component and reporting odds ratio methods were used for signal detection in total/categorized CAR T-cell therapy. Results: A total of 17 positive signals (preferred term) were detected, yet none of them were documented in the product information. Some adverse events were with death outcomes and overlapped a lot with cytokine-release syndrome. Conclusion: The ocular adverse events associated with CAR-T cell therapy are noteworthy, and it is imperative to maintain increased alertness and institute early intervention strategies.


CAR-T-cell therapy is a highly effective treatment for blood cancers that has gained significant attention as a promising therapy in recent years. However, a complete analysis of its side effects on eyes has not been determined. In this study, we examined eye-related adverse events with five US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved CAR T-cell therapies by using data from the FDA. We found that certain eye issues such as dilated pupils, impaired pupillary light reflex and eye surface bleeding deserve attention. Surprisingly, these problems were not mentioned in the product information. Since some adverse events can have severe outcomes, it is important to be vigilant and take early action.

Timely diagnosis of medical conditions can significantly mitigate the risks they pose to human life. Consequently, there is an urgent demand for an effective auxiliary model that assists physicians in accurately diagnosing medical conditions based on imaging data. While multi-threshold image segmentation models have garnered considerable attention due to their simplicity and ease of implementation, the selection of threshold combinations greatly influences the segmentation performance. Traditional optimization algorithms often require substantial time to address multi-threshold image segmentation problems, and their segmentation accuracy is frequently unsatisfactory. As a result, metaheuristic algorithms have been employed in this domain. However, several algorithms suffer from drawbacks such as premature convergence and inadequate exploration of the solution space when it comes to threshold selection. For instance, the recently proposed optimization algorithm RIME, inspired by the physical phenomenon of rime-ice, falls short in terms of avoiding local optima and fully exploring the solution space. Therefore, this study introduces an enhanced version of RIME, called IDRM, which incorporates an interactive mechanism and Gaussian diffusion strategy. The interactive mechanism facilitates information exchange among agents, enabling them to evolve towards more promising directions and increasing the likelihood of discovering the optimal solution. Additionally, the Gaussian diffusion strategy enhances the agents' local exploration capabilities and expands their search within the solution space, effectively preventing them from becoming trapped in local optima. Experimental results on 30 benchmark test functions demonstrate that IDRM exhibits favorable optimization performance across various optimization functions, showcasing its robustness and convergence properties. Furthermore, the algorithm is applied to select threshold combinations for brain tumor image segmentation, and the results are evaluated using metrics such as Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM). The overall findings consistently highlight the exceptional performance of this approach, further validating the effectiveness of IDRM in addressing image segmentation problems.

OBJECTIVE: To delineate the origin and content of a mosaicism small supernumerary marker chromosome (sSMC) in a fetus with combined chromosomal karyotyping, chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). METHODS: The fetus of a 31-year-old pregnant woman who had presented at the Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital of Longhua District of Shenzhen City in 2022 was selected as the study subject. Non-invasive prenatal testing suggested that the fetus has harbored a 8.75 Mb duplication in 4q12q13.1. With informed consent, amniotic fluid and peripheral blood samples were taken from the couple for chromosomal karyotyping analysis. The origin and content of a sSMC was identified by CMA, and its proportion in amniotic fluid was determined with a FISH assay. RESULTS: The karyotypes of the pregnant woman, her husband and the fetus were respectively determined as 46,XX, 46,XY,inv(9)(p12q12), and 47,XY,inv(9)(p12q12)pat,+mar[75]/ 46,XY,inv(9)(p12q12)pat[25]. CMA test of the amniotic fluid sample was arr[hg19]4p11q13.1(48978053_63145931)×3, which revealed no mosaicism. However, FISH analysis showed that 59% of interphase cells from the cultured amniotic fluid sample had contained three signals for the centromere of chromosome 4, whilst 65% of interphase cells from the re-sampled amniotic fluid had three such signals, which confirmed the existence of trisomy 8 mosaicism. CONCLUSION: Chromosomal structural abnormality combined with mosaicism can be delineated with combined chromosomal karyotyping and molecular techniques such as FISH and CMA, which has enabled more accurate counseling for the family.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupuncture combined with infantile tuina on intestinal flora and its efficacy in children with tic disorders (TD), and to explore its mechanism. METHODS: A total of 15 children with TD were recruited as an observation group and 10 healthy children as a healthy control group. Regulating spleen and stomach acupuncture combined with infantile tuina were received in the observation group. First, acupuncture was applied to Zhongwan (CV 12), Tianshu (ST 25), Guanyuan (CV 4), Hegu (LI 4), Zusanli (ST 36), etc., and then abdominal massage and other tuina techniques were applied, once a day, 6 times a week, 2 weeks as a course of treatment, a total of 2 courses of treatment were required. No intervention was given in the healthy control group. In the observation group, Yale global tic severity scale (YGTSS) score and TCM syndrome score were compared before treatment and after 1 and 2 courses of treatment. 16S rRNA sequencing technology was used to detect the intestinal flora in the healthy control group and before and after treatment in the observation group. RESULTS: After 1 and 2 courses of treatment, the scores of YGTSS and TCM syndrome in the observation group were lower than those before treatment (P<0.01, P<0.05). Compared with the healthy control group, the number of operational taxonomic units (OTU) and indexes of Chao1, Sobs, Ace and Shannon were decreased in the observation group before treatment (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared with before treatment, the number of OTU and indexes of Chao1, Sobs, Ace and Shannon were increased in the observation group after treatment (P<0.01, P<0.05). Compared with the healthy control group, the relative abundance of Firmicutes in the observation group before treatment was decreased (P<0.001), while the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes, Bacteroides and Erysipelatoclostridium was increased (P<0.001, P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes in the observation group was decreased (P<0.001) after treatment, while the relative abundance of Actinobacteria, Bifidobacterium and Atopobium was increased (P<0.05, P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Acupuncture combined with infantile tuina based on the principle of regulating spleen and stomach could effectively improve TD symptoms in children, which may be related to regulating the diversity of intestinal flora, increasing beneficial bacteria, maintaining intestinal microecological balance, and playing a role in improving neurological disorders.

The efficient heterogeneous photo-Fenton-like catalysts based on two secondary ligand-induced Cu(II) metal-organic frameworks (Cu-MOF-1 and Cu-MOF-2) were constructed for the first time and investigated for the degradation of multiple antibiotics. Herein, two novel Cu-MOFs were prepared using mixed ligands by a facile hydrothermal method. The one-dimensional (1D) nanotube-like structure could be obtained by using V-shaped, long and rigid 4,4'-bis(3-pyridylformamide)diphenylether (3-padpe) ligand in Cu-MOF-1, while polynuclear Cu cluster could be prepared more easily by using short and small isonicotinic acid (HIA) ligand in Cu-MOF-2. Their photocatalytic performances were measured by degradation of multiple antibiotics in Fenton-like system. Comparatively, Cu-MOF-2 exhibited superior photo-Fenton-like performance under visible light irradiation. The outstanding catalytic performance of Cu-MOF-2 was ascribed to the tetranuclear Cu cluster configuration and excellent ability of photoinduced charge transfer and hole separation thus improved the photo-Fenton activity. In addition, Cu-MOF-2 showed high photo-Fenton activity in wide pH working range 3-10 and maintained wonderful stability after five cyclic experiments. The degradation intermediates and pathways were deeply studied. The main active species h+, O2- and OH worked together in photo-Fenton-like system and possible degradation mechanism was proposed. This study provided a new approach to design the Cu-based MOFs Fenton-like catalysts.

Controlling the tree size of fruit species such as peach can reduce the amount of labor and input needed for orchard management. The phytohormone gibberellin (GA) positively regulates tree size by inducing degradation of the GA signaling repressor DELLA. The N-terminal DELLA domain in this protein is critical for its GA-dependent interaction with the GA receptor GID1 and the resulting degradation of the DELLA protein, which allows for growth-promoting GA signaling. In this study, a DELLA family member, PpeDGYLA, contains a DELLA domain but has amino acid changes in three conserved motifs (DELLA into DGYLA, LEQLE into LERLE, and TVHYNP into AVLYNP). In the absence or presence of GA3, the PpeDGYLA protein did not interact with PpeGID1c and was stable in 35S-PpeDGYLA peach transgenic callus. The overexpression of PpeDGYLA in both polar and Arabidopsis showed an extremely dwarfed phenotype, and these transgenic plants were insensitive to GA3 treatment. PpeDGYLA could interact with PpeARF6-1 and -2, supposed growth-promoting factors. It is suggested that the changes in the DELLA domain of PpeDGYLA may, to some extent, account for the severe dwarf phenotype of poplar and Arabidopsis transgenic plants. In addition, our study showed that the DELLA family contained three clades (DELLA-like, DELLA, and DGLLA). PpeDGYLA clustered into the DGLLA clade and was expressed in all of the analyzed tissues. These results lay the foundation for the further study of the repression of tree size by PpeDGYLA.

Fargesia, the largest genus within the temperate bamboo tribe Arundinarieae, has more than 90 species mainly distributed in the mountains of Southwest China. The Fargesia bamboos are important components of the subalpine forest ecosystems that provide food and habitat for many endangered animals, including the giant panda. However, species-level identification of Fargesia is difficult. Moreover, the rapid radiation and slow molecular evolutionary rate of Fargesia pose a significant challenge to using DNA barcoding with standard plant barcodes (rbcL, matK, and ITS) in bamboos. With progress in the sequencing technologies, complete plastid genomes (plastomes) and nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) sequences have been proposed as organelle barcodes for species identification; however, these have not been tested in bamboos. We collected 196 individuals representing 62 species of Fargesia to comprehensively evaluate the discriminatory power of plastomes and nrDNA sequences compared to standard barcodes. Our analysis indicates that complete plastomes have substantially higher discriminatory power (28.6%) than standard barcodes (5.7%), whereas nrDNA sequences show a moderate improvement (65.4%) compared to ITS (47.2%). We also found that nuclear markers performed better than plastid markers, and ITS alone had higher discriminatory power than complete plastomes. The study also demonstrated that plastomes and nrDNA sequences can contribute to intrageneric phylogenetic resolution in Fargesia. However, neither of these sequences were able to discriminate all the sampled species, and therefore, more nuclear markers need to be identified.

Peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] annual shoots grow up quickly, which limits the lighting and ventilation of an orchard. Atypical bHLH proteins IBH1(INCREASED LEAF INCLINATION1 BINDING bHLH1) play substantial roles in regulating cell elongation and plant stature. In this study, three PpIBH1s (PpIBH1-1/-2/-3) were identified in peach genome and contain a conserved AS domain and a characteristic HLH domain. The transcript levels of three PpIBH1s positively correlated with internode length, which gradually increased from apex to base along the peach shoots. This positive correlation was further confirmed in apple and poplar shoots. And the PpIBH1s gene were highly expressed in the shoot tips collected from twelve dwarf peach cultivars (gid1c mutants). In tissue-specific expression analysis, PpIBH1-1 are more highly expressed in tissues at the growth-arrested stage than cell-elongating. Transgenic Arabidopsis lines showed that different plant heights depending on the dose of PpIBH1-1 transcripts. And the dwarfing PpIBH1-1 transgenic lines were caused by the shorted cell length. PpIBH1-1 interacted with two bHLH factors (PpACE2 and PpLP1). These results suggested that PpIBH1-1 probably prevents internode elongation of peach shoots in a dose-dependent manner. Our work provided a foundation for properly controlling the growth of annual peach branches.

This study intends to conduct a meta-analysis based on existing research results to further investigate their relationship between artificial sweetener exposure and breast cancer risk. An electronic database literature search was performed up to July 2022, using PubMed, Web of Science, Ovid and Scopus. The relationship between artificial sweetener exposure and breast cancer (BC) incidence was evaluated by odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Among the five studies (two case-control studies and three cohort studies) that met the inclusion criteria, 314,056 participants were recruited in the cohort study, 4,043 cancer cases and 3,910 controls were recruited in the case-control study. It was found that exposure of artificial sweeteners was not related to the risk of BC (OR = 0.98, 95% CI = [0.94-1.03]). Subgroup analysis showed that compared with the non-exposure/very-low-dose group, the exposure to low, medium and high doses of artificial sweeteners were not associated with the risk of BC, which were OR = 1.01, 95% CI = [0.95-1.07], OR = 0.98, 95% CI = [0.93-1.02], OR = 0.88, 95% CI = [0.74-1.06], respectively. This study confirmed that there was no relationship between the exposure of artificial sweeteners and the incidence of BC.
