RESUMO

Background: To investigate the physical and psychological effects of five-element music therapy combined with Baduanjin qigong treatment on inpatients with mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan. Methods: A mixed-methods study was used. In the quantitative study, a randomized controlled trial was performed on 40 study participants divided into a control group (n = 20) and an intervention group (n = 20). The Self-rating Anxiety Scale, Self-rating Depression Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were compared. For qualitative analysis, it adopted purposive sampling method, 13 patients of different ages from 18 to 60 years old and different exercise behavior were selected as the participants from the intervention group. A semi-structured interview method was used to collect data, and the content analysis method was used for data analysis. An interview outline was developed to assess the psychological condition and personal functional-exercise behavior of patients. Results: In the quantitative study, the anxiety self-scores and depression self-scores of patients in intervention group were significantly lower compared with control group after treatment (p < .05). The sleep quality of intervention group was significantly improved compared with control group (p < .001). Participants in the qualitative study responded to questions posed through semi-structured interviews. The effect of intervention was good, which has been supported and recognized by patients. Conclusion: The treatment of five-element music therapy combined with Baduanjin qigong on patients with mild COVID-19 alleviated anxiety and depression, and improved sleep quality, which was beneficial to the patients' physical and psychological recovery.

RESUMO

Background: Work-related musculoskeletal diseases (WMSDs) have a greater negative impact on nurses' physical and mental health. However, the epidemiologic characteristics of nurse WMSDs are unclear, and the reported prevalence of WMSDs varies widely. The aim of this meta-analysis was to provide a quantitative synthesis of WMSDs' prevalence in nurses and estimate the pooled prevalence of its. Methods: The PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, CINAHL, Ovid, WANFANG, VIP, China Knowledge Integrated, and CBM databases were searched for relevant studies. The retrieval period extended from database initiation to Mar 2022. After data extraction and quality assessment, a meta-analysis was performed using the Stata 16.0 software package. Results: Overall, 42 articles were included, yielding a total sample size of 36,934. The annual prevalence of WMSDs among nurses was found to be 77.2% (95% confidence interval: 0.725-0.819). The three anatomical areas with the highest prevalence of WMSDs among nurses were the lower back (at 59.5%), neck (at 53.0%) and shoulder (at 46.8%). Nurses in developed countries have a higher prevalence of WMSDs than those in developing countries. Conclusion: There was currently moderate evidence to suggest a high prevalence of WMSDs in nurses. National policies should aim to reduce their prevalence in this population.

RESUMO

Hypertension is a leading risk factor of cardiovascular disease and it is becoming increasingly prevalent globally. Correspondingly, the Chinese government and public health institutions have issued a series of policy documents and guidelines for hypertension. However, no comprehensive review of such documents has been conducted. Hence, this review aims to provide an up-to-date and comprehensive assessment of not only the disease burden, but also hypertension management policies and guidelines in China. A total of 15 epidemiological studies based on national population surveys, 15 Chinese Hypertension Guidelines, and seven policy documents were identified. We found a larger burden of hypertension in men, while the awareness, treatment, and control rates have remained low in both sexes. The ranges of hypertension prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control rate among hypertensive patients were 18.0-44.7%, 23.6-56.2%, 14.2-48.5%, and 4.2-30.1% respectively. Chinese hypertension guidelines provide evidence-based instructions to healthcare practitioners over hypertension management in which primary healthcare is increasingly emphasized. Finally, the policy documents set national goals for hypertension management and standardized the services provided in primary healthcare. The findings highlight the importance of integrating new guidelines into hypertension management provided by primary healthcare practitioners and the need to evaluate the implementation of guidelines and policies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease is the second major neurodegenerative diseases secondarily to Alzheimer's disease. Rapamycin is a fermentation product, which derived from Streptomyces hygroscopius. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of rapamycin and its potential mechanisms on the acute attack of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-four hydrogen pyridine (MPTP) induced Parkinson's disease (PD) in mice. METHODS: PD model was established by intraperitoneal injection of MPTP for 5 days. The effect of intraperitoneal injection of rapamycin for treating the symptoms caused by PD was evaluated by behavior observation and HE pathological section. In order to understand the possible mechanism, immunofluorescence and immune precipitation mainly analyzes were used to measure the expression of critical protein p-4ebp1 in mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathways in the striatum and substantia nigra. RESULTS: Rapamycin can effectively alleviate symptoms of PD. The levels of key protein p-4EBP1 in the striatum and substantia nigra were both significantly higher in PD group compared with control group (P<0.01), while being pretreated with rapamycin, the expression of p-4EBP1 in the striatum and substantia nigra were both decreased obviously (P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: p-4EBP1 protein may be involved in the pathogenesis of PD via mTOR signaling pathway. Inhibited mTOR-4EBP1 pathways could make a certain protective effect for the acute attack of PD induced by MPTP.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this research is to identify the bowel symptoms and self-care strategies for rectal cancer survivors during the recovery process following low anterior resection surgery. METHODS: A total of 100 participants were investigated under the structured interview guide based on the dimensions of "symptom management theory". RESULTS: 92% of participants reported changes in bowel habits, the most common being the frequent bowel movements and narrower stools, which we named it finger-shaped consistency stools. The 6 most frequently reported bowel symptoms were excessive flatus (93%), clustering (86%), urgency (77%), straining (62%), bowel frequency (57%) and anal pendant expansion (53%). Periodic bowel movements occurred in 19% participants. For a group of 79 participants at 6 to 24 months post-operation, 86.1% reported a significant improvement of bowel symptoms. Among 68 participants of this subgroup with significant improvements, 70.5% participants reported the length of time it took was at least 6 months. Self-care strategies adopted by participants included diet, bowel medications, practice management and exercise. CONCLUSIONS: It is necessary to educate patients on the symptoms experienced following low anterior resection surgery. Through the process of trial and error, participants have acquired self-care strategies. Healthcare professionals should learn knowledge of such strategies and help them build effective interventions.
