RESUMO

The current study aimed to investigate the status of genes with prognostic DNA methylation sites in bladder cancer (BLCA). We obtained bulk transcriptome sequencing data, methylation data, and single-cell sequencing data of BLCA from public databases. Initially, Cox survival analysis was conducted for each methylation site, and genes with more than 10 methylation sites demonstrating prognostic significance were identified to form the BLCA prognostic methylation gene set. Subsequently, the intersection of marker genes associated with epithelial cells in single-cell sequencing analysis was obtained to acquire epithelial cell prognostic methylation genes. Utilizing ten machine learning algorithms for multiple combinations, we selected key genes (METRNL, SYT8, COL18A1, TAP1, MEST, AHNAK, RPP21, AKAP13, RNH1) based on the C-index from multiple validation sets. Single-factor and multi-factor Cox analyses were conducted incorporating clinical characteristics and model genes to identify independent prognostic factors (AHNAK, RNH1, TAP1, Age, and Stage) for constructing a Nomogram model, which was validated for its good diagnostic efficacy, prognostic prediction ability, and clinical decision-making benefits. Expression patterns of model genes varied among different clinical features. Seven immune cell infiltration prediction algorithms were used to assess the correlation between immune cell scores and Nomogram scores. Finally, drug sensitivity analysis of Nomogram model genes was conducted based on the CMap database, followed by molecular docking experiments. Our research offers a reference and theoretical basis for prognostic evaluation, drug selection, and understanding the impact of DNA methylation changes on the prognosis of BLCA.

Introduction: Testicular cancer (TC) is the most frequent cancer among men aged 14-44 years. The risk of erectile dysfunction (ED) in TC patients varied within a wide range across different studies. This study aims to estimate the risk of ED in TC patients by conducting a meta-analysis of case-control studies. Material and methods: Relevant studies were searched using PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library up to June 2019. Case-control studies that reported the incidence of ED in TC patients were included. Results: A total of 8 studies involving 2060 TC patients and 2651 healthy men were included. All the TC patients underwent unilateral orchiectomy; other treatment modalities were also conducted if necessary. ED occurred in 16.9% (348/2060) of TC patients and 9.4% (251/2651) of healthy men. Compared with healthy men, TC patients experienced a significantly increased risk of ED (OR = 2.39, 95% CI: 1.56-3.67). Substantial heterogeneity was observed. In addition, subgroup analysis revealed that the risk (OR = 3.76, 95% CI: 2.45-5.78) for ED in TC patients with follow-up < 5 years was significantly higher than that (OR = 1.61, 95% CI: 1.10-3.67) with follow-up ≥ 5 years. Heterogeneity was improved after subgroup analysis. Conclusions: TC patients experienced an increased risk for ED compared with healthy men. The long-term risk for ED in TC patients was lower than the short-term risk.

Objective: To analyze the clinical efficacy of CO2 fractional laser combined with compound betamethasone in treating vitiligo and its impact on inflammatory factors. Methods: The clinical treatment effects, levels of inflammatory factors [interleukin-17 (IL-17), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-10 (IL-10)], prognosis regarding repigmentation and relapse, psychological health (satisfaction). Results: ① Clinical treatment effects: the total effective rate in Group A was 92.73%, Group B was 74.55%, and Group C was 67.27%, with Group A showing significantly higher effectiveness than Groups B and C (p < 0.05). ② Inflammatory factors: prior to treatment, there was no significant difference in IL-17, IFN-γ, and IL-10 levels among the three groups (p > 0.05); after 3 and 6 months of treatment, the levels of IL-17 and IFN-γ decreased significantly while IL-10 levels increased significantly across all three groups, with Group A showing a more pronounced change compared to Groups B and C (p < 0.05). ③ Prognosis regarding repigmentation and relapse: after 3 and 6 months of treatment, Group A exhibited significantly higher repigmentation rates compared to Groups B and C (p < 0.05); in terms of relapse, Group A had a relapse rate of 5.45%, Group B had 21.82%, and Group C had 23.64%, with Group A showing significantly lower relapse rates compared to Groups B and C (p < 0.05). ④ Quality of life and psychological health: at the end of the 6 month follow-up, the quality of life and psychological health of patients in Group A were significantly higher than those in Groups B and C (p < 0.05). ⑤ Occurrence of adverse reactions: the incidence of adverse reactions was 12.73% in Group A, 10.91% in Group B, and 9.09% in Group C, with no significant difference observed among the three groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The application of CO2 fractional laser combined with compound betamethasone in vitiligo patients demonstrates significant efficacy. Compared to sole treatment with CO2 fractional laser or compound betamethasone injections, this combined approach further improves the levels of inflammatory factors in vitiligo patients, reduces the risk of relapse, enhances skin repigmentation, improves quality of life, psychological well-being, without increasing the risk of related adverse reactions. This combined approach merits clinical promotion and application.

BACKGROUND: Stapokibart/CM310, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin-4 receptor α chain, has shown promising treatment benefits in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in previous phase II clinical trials. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of stapokibart in adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. METHODS: Enrolled patients who previously completed parent trials of stapokibart received a subcutaneous stapokibart 600-mg loading dose, then 300 mg every 2 weeks up to 52 weeks. Efficacy outcomes included the proportions of patients with ≥ 50%/75%/90% improvements from baseline of parent trials in the Eczema Area and Severity Index, Investigator's Global Assessment, and weekly average of the daily Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale. RESULTS: In total, 127 patients were enrolled, and 110 (86.6%) completed the study. At week 52, the Eczema Area and Severity Index-50/75/90 response rates were 96.3%, 87.9%, and 71.0%, respectively. An Investigator's Global Assessment 0/1 with a ≥ 2-point reduction was achieved in 39.3% of patients at week 16, increasing to 58.9% at week 52. The proportions of patients with ≥ 3-point and ≥ 4-point reductions in the weekly average of daily Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale scores were 80.2% and 62.2%, respectively, at week 52. Improvement in patients' quality of life was sustained over a 52-week treatment period. Treatment-emergent adverse events occurred in 88.2% of patients, with an exposure-adjusted event rate of 299.2 events/100 patient-years. Coronavirus disease 2019, upper respiratory tract infection, and conjunctivitis were the most common treatment-emergent adverse events. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term treatment with stapokibart for 52 weeks showed high efficacy and good safety profiles, supporting its use as a continuous long-term treatment option for atopic dermatitis. Inhaling polyhexamethylene guanidine (PHMG) aerosol, a broad-spectrum disinfectant, can lead to severe pulmonary fibrosis. Ferroptosis, a form of programmed cell death triggered by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, is believed to play a role in the chemical-induced pulmonary injury. This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of ferroptosis in the progression of PHMG-induced pulmonary fibrosis. C57BL/6 J mice and the alveolar type II cell line MLE-12 were used to evaluate the toxicity of PHMG in vivo and in vitro, respectively. The findings indicated that iron deposition was observed in PHMG induced pulmonary fibrosis mouse model and ferroptosis related genes have changed after 8 weeks PHMG exposure. Additionally, there were disturbances in the antioxidant system and mitochondrial damage in MLE-12 cells following a 12-hour treatment with PHMG. Furthermore, the study observed an increase in lipid peroxidation and a decrease in GPX4 activity in MLE-12 cells after exposure to PHMG. Moreover, pretreatment with the ferroptosis inhibitors Ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) and Liproxstatin-1 (Lip-1) not only restored the antioxidant system and GPX4 activity but also mitigated lipid peroxidation. Current data exhibit the role of ferroptosis pathway in PHMG-induced pulmonary fibrosis and provide a potential target for future treatment.

INTRODUCTION: Stapokibart, a novel humanized anti-interleukin (IL)-4 receptor alpha monoclonal antibody, inhibits the signaling of IL-4 and IL-13, which are key drivers of type 2 inflammation in atopic dermatitis (AD). This study aimed to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (PK), and pharmacodynamics (PD) of stapokibart in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled single ascending dose (SAD) study and a multiple ascending dose (MAD) study. METHODS: The SAD study enrolled 33 healthy male adults aged 18-65 years at a single center. The MAD study enrolled 39 patients with moderate-to-severe AD aged 18-70 years at seven centers. Enrolled subjects were randomized to subcutaneous (SC) doses of stapokibart (75-600 mg) or placebo. Serum thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) and total immunoglobulin E (IgE) were measured as PD biomarkers for stapokibart. RESULTS: Similar PK characteristics were observed in healthy volunteers and subjects with AD after the initial administration. Stapokibart exhibited non-linear pharmacokinetics in both types of subjects. Following single doses, the mean maximum serum concentration (Cmax) ranged from 5.3 to 63.0 µg/mL, median Tmax ranged from 3.0 to 7.0 days, mean terminal half-life (t1/2z) ranged from 2.39 to 7.43 days, and mean apparent volume (Vz/F) ranged from 3.64 to 6.73 L in healthy subjects. The mean AUC accumulation ratio was 2.29 in subjects with AD after three doses of stapokibart 300 mg administered every 2 weeks. The median serum total IgE and TARC levels on day 43 decreased from baseline by 14.9-25.2% and 48.6-77.0%, respectively, among subjects with AD receiving three doses of stapokibart. No subjects developed grade ≥ 3 adverse events (AEs) or serious AEs or discontinued the study because of AEs. The incidence of AEs was similar between stapokibart and placebo groups. CONCLUSION: Stapokibart showed favorable pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, safety, and tolerability in the SAD and MAD studies. Based on these results, phase II and phase III trials of stapokibart have been performed in subjects with moderate-to-severe AD. Accurate diagnostic techniques and effective therapeutic methods are required to treat H. pylori. The application of chicken single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies may diagnose and treat H. pylori. This study used the phage display technique to construct a chicken-derived immune scFv antibody library against H. pylori. Total RNA was extracted from the spleens of five immunized chickens and reverse transcribed into cDNA. A fragment of scFv was produced by overlap extension PCR and cloned into a pHEN2 phagemid vector. After the package with the M13KO7 helper phage, the recombinant HpaA protein was used as a target antigen to validate the screening ability of our antibody library by bio-panning. The dilution counting results showed that the size of the primary antibody library was estimated to be 1 × 109 cfu/mL. PCR analysis of 47 clones from the library revealed that about 100% of the clones were positive with scFv fragments, and there were no identical sequences, indicating the good diversity of the antibody library. After three rounds of bio-panning, high-affinity antibodies against recombinant HpaA protein were successfully obtained. The selected antibody specifically recognized HpaA protein in nine different H. pylori strains, confirming the screening ability of our library. The chicken immune scFv antibody library against H. pylori was successfully constructed, and the antibody library's screening ability was validated by selecting specific scFv antibodies against recombinant HpaA and clinical strains. It provided a simple and rapid method to obtain antibodies against H. pylori for diagnosis or treatment.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are promising next-generation therapeutics and drug delivery systems due to demonstrated safety and efficacy in preclinical models and early-stage clinical trials. There is an urgent need to address the immunogenicity of EVs (beyond the apparent lack of immunotoxicity) to advance clinical development. To date, few studies have assessed unintended immunological recognition of EVs. An in-depth understanding of EV-induced immunogenicity and clearance is necessary to develop effective therapeutic strategies, including approaches to mitigate immunological recognition when undesired. This article summarizes various factors involved in the potential immunogenicity of EVs and strategies to reduce immunological recognition for improved therapeutic benefit.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the impact of the Geko neuromuscular stimulator on preoperative preparation in patients with ankle fractures. STUDY DESIGN: Quasi-experiment study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery and Department of Orthopaedics, Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China, between December 2020 and 2021. METHODOLOGY: This quasi-experiment study included patients with ankle fractures treated with Geko neuromuscular stimulator before surgical fixation. The primary outcome was limb swelling at 24, 48, and 72 hours (h) after admission, and the secondary outcomes were pain according to visual analogue scale (VAS) at 12, 24, and 48 hours after admission, preoperative waiting time, and comfort 4 and 72 h after admission. RESULTS: A total of 60 patients were included in the study; 30 in the conventional treatment group (mean age 41.16 ± 2.01 years) and 30 in the Geko group (mean age 40.22 ± 2.68 years). The limb swelling in patients was significantly different between the Geko and conventional treatment groups (p = 0.004). Besides, the swelling values at 48 (p < 0.001) and 72 (p < 0.001) hours were significantly lower than those at 24 hours. The pain in patients was significantly different between the Geko and conventional treatment groups (p = 0.007). Besides, the swelling values at 24 (p < 0.001) and 48 (p < 0.001) hours are significantly lower than those at 24 hours. Comfort was significantly higher at 4 h (69.54 ± 2.18 vs. 67.22 ± 3.14, p = 0.002) and 72 h [(88.50 (84.00 - 94.00) vs. 82.14 ± 3.08, p < 0.001)] after admission. The preoperative waiting time (3.52 ± 1.8 vs. 5.15 ± 2.1 hours, p = 0.002) was significantly shorter in the Geko group. CONCLUSION: The Geko neuromuscular stimulator is a useful option for preoperative preparation in patients with ankle fractures to reduce local swelling and pain and improve patients' comfort. INTRODUCTION: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic immuno-inflammatory skin disease. Crisaborole ointment, 2%, is a nonsteroidal phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor approved for the treatment of mild to moderate AD. This post hoc analysis assesses the efficacy and safety of crisaborole in Chinese patients aged ≥ 2 years with mild to moderate AD. METHODS: We evaluated the efficacy and safety of crisaborole in Chinese patients from the vehicle-controlled, phase 3 CrisADe CLEAR study. Patients were randomly assigned 2:1 to receive crisaborole or vehicle twice daily, respectively, for 28 days. The primary endpoint was percent change from baseline in Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) total score at day 29. Key secondary endpoints were improvement in Investigator's Static Global Assessment (ISGA), ISGA success, and change from baseline in weekly average Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (PP-NRS) score. Adverse events were documented. RESULTS: Of 391 patients in the overall study, 237 were from China, 157 assigned to crisaborole and 80 assigned to vehicle. A greater reduction in percent change from baseline in EASI total score at day 29 was shown in the crisaborole vs. vehicle group (least squares mean [LSM]: -66.34 [95% (confidence interval) CI -71.55 to -61.12] vs. -50.18 [95% CI -58.02 to -42.34]). Response rates for achievement of ISGA improvement (43.2% [95% CI 35.4-51.1] vs. 33.4% [95% CI 22.5-44.2]) and ISGA success (31.7% [95% CI 24.3-39.0] vs. 21.5% [95% CI 12.1-30.9]) at day 29 were higher in the crisaborole vs. vehicle group. A greater reduction in change from baseline in weekly average PP-NRS score at week 4 was observed in the crisaborole vs. vehicle group (LSM: -1.98 [95% CI -2.34 to -1.62] vs. -1.08 [95% CI -1.63 to -0.53]). No new safety signals were observed. CONCLUSION: Crisaborole was effective and well tolerated in Chinese patients aged ≥ 2 years with mild to moderate AD. BACKGROUND: The adoption of digitization has emerged as a new trend in the advancement of healthcare systems. To ensure high-quality care, nurses should possess sufficient skills to assist in the digital transformation of healthcare practices. Suitable tools have seldom been developed to assess nurses' skills in digital applications. This study aimed to develop the Nursing Digital Application Skill Scale (NDASS) and test its psychometric properties. METHODS: The Nursing Digital Application Skill Scale was developed in three phases. In Phase 1, an item pool was developed based on previous literature and the actual situation of nursing work. Phase 2 included 14 experts' assessment of content validity and a focus group interview with 30 nurses to pretest the scale. In phase 3, 429 registered nurses were selected from March to June 2023, and item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were used to refine the number of items and explore the factor structure of the scale. Additionally, reliability was determined by internal consistency and test-retest reliability. RESULTS: The final version of the NDASS consisted of 12 items. The content validity index of NDASS reached 0.975 at an acceptable level. The convergent validity test showed that the average variance extracted value was 0.694 (> 0.5) and the composite reliability value was 0.964 (> 0.7), both of which met the requirements. The principal component analysis resulted in a single-factor structure explaining 74.794% of the total variance. All the fitting indices satisfied the standard based upon confirmatory factor analyses, indicating that the single-factor structure contributed to an ideal model fit. The internal consistency appeared high for the NDASS, reaching a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.968. The test-retest reliability was 0.740, and the split-half coefficient was 0.935. CONCLUSION: The final version of the NDASS, which possesses adequate psychometric properties, is a reliable and effective instrument for nurses to self-assess digital skills in nursing work and for nursing managers in designing nursing digital skill training.

INTRODUCTION: With the aging of the population in China, the prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AD) is high in elderly patients. These patients usually have more comorbidities and they need more effective and safer treatments. Dupilumab is an anti-interleukin-4 (IL-4) receptor monoclonal antibody which was approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe AD. METHODS: Elderly patients (60 years or older) with moderate-to-severe AD who treated with dupilumab were included. Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) score, Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (PP-NRS), EASI-50, EASI-75, and EASI-50 were evaluated. The efficacy in subgroups was also investigated. RESULTS: Fifty-eight patients were enrolled. The EASI score and PP-NRS score were significantly reduced at weeks 4, 16, 28, and 52. 91.2% and 79.4% of the patients achieved EASI-50 and EASI-75 at week 16, respectively. 95.8% and 87.5% patients achieved EASI-50 and EASI-75 at week 52, respectively. Adverse events were reported in 10 (17.2%) patients, and no severe adverse event was reported. Male, older age, and moderate AD (EASI <21) were related to better efficacy. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that dupilumab is effective and safe in elderly patients with AD.

Cadmium (Cd), a ubiquitous heavy metal, exists in numerous environmental matrices and has severe adverse effects on various human organs and tissues. This research evaluates blood and urine Cd levels in the Chinese population through data mining using Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). A total of 168 scientific studies (120 on urine and 48 on blood) published between January 1980 and December 2020, reflecting a population of 109,743 individuals in China, were included in the study. The results indicate that the blood and urine Cd levels in the Chinese population exhibited a peak from 1990 to 1995 and remained stable after 1995, averaging 1.21 µg/L of blood Cd (BCd) and 0.61 µg/L of urine Cd (UCd). The spatial trend of Cd levels varied significantly. Shandong, Zhejiang, Heilongjiang, and Guangdong provinces were identified as the top provinces with high Cd levels, which were related to factors such as tobacco sales, E-waste amounts, and contaminated rice. Additionally, the study highlights that BCd concentrations are highest among preschool-aged individuals, whereas school-age and adolescent groups exhibit the lowest levels. However, no significant difference existed among the different age groups. Males showed significantly higher Cd levels than females in the general population. Moreover, exposure to smoking, drinking, and staple food preferences had an impact on Cd levels. Furthermore, this comprehensive study, using biological monitoring and data mining, provides valuable information on Cd pollution levels in the Chinese population. It presents a statistical analysis that can aid decision-makers in implementing effective measures to control potential Cd pollution and improve the health of vulnerable populations.

OBJECTIVE: The current study used a composite outcome to investigate whether applying the ERAS protocol would enhance the recovery of patients undergoing laparoscopic total gastrectomy (LTG). EXPOSURES: Laparoscopic total gastrectomy and perioperative interventions were the exposure. An ERAS clinical pathway consisting of 14 items was implemented and assessed. Patients were divided into either ERAS-compliant or non-ERAS-compliant group according the adherence above 9/14 or not. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES: The primary study outcome was a composite outcome called 'optimal postoperative recovery' with the definition as below: discharge within 6 days with no sever complications and no unplanned re-operation or readmission within 30 days postoperatively. Univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to model optimal postoperative recovery and compliance, adjusting for patient-related and disease-related characteristics. RESULTS: A total of 252 patients were included in this retrospective study, 129 in the ERAS compliant group and 123 in the non-ERAS-compliant group. Of these, 79.07% of the patients in ERAS compliant group achieved optimal postoperative recovery, whereas 61.79% of patients in non-ERAS-compliant group did (P = 0.0026). The incidence of sever complications was lower in the ERAS-compliant group (1.55% vs. 6.5%, P = 0.0441). No patients in ERAS compliant group had unplanned re-operation, whereas 5.69% (7/123) of patients in non-ERAS-compliant group had (p = 0.006). The median length of the postoperative hospital stay was shorter in the in the ERAS compliant group (5.51 vs. 5.68 days, P = 0.01). Both logistic (OR 2.01, 95% CI 1.21-3.34) and stepwise regression (OR 2.07, 95% CI 1.25-3.41) analysis showed that high overall compliance with the ERAS protocol facilitated optimal recovery in such patients. In bivariate analysis of compliance for patients who had an optimal postoperative recovery, carbohydrate drinks (p = 0.0196), early oral feeding (P = 0.0043), early mobilization (P = 0.0340), and restrictive intravenous fluid administration (P < 0.0001) were significantly associated with optimal postoperative recovery. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Patients with higher ERAS compliance (almost 70% of the accomplishment) suffered less severe postoperative complications and were more likely to achieve optimal postoperative recovery.

Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) is an oil-derived, large-market volume chemical with endocrine disrupting properties and reproductive toxicity. Moreover, BPA is frequently used in food contact materials, has been extensively researched recently, and widespread exposure in the general population has been reported worldwide. However, national information on BPA levels in general Chinese people is lacking. Methods: This study collected and analyzed 145 (104 in urine and 41 in serum) research articles published between 2004 and 2021 to reflect the BPA internal exposure levels in Chinese populations. The Monte Carlo simulation method is employed to analyze and estimate the data in order to rectify the deviation caused by a skewed distribution. Results: Data on BPA concentrations in urine and serum were collected from 2006 to 2019 and 2004 to 2019, respectively. Urinary BPA concentrations did not vary significantly until 2017, with the highest concentration occurring from 2018 to 2019 (2.90 ng/mL). The serum BPA concentration decreased to the nadir of 1.07 ng/mL in 2011 and gradually increased to 2.54 ng/mL. Nationally, 18 provinces were studied, with Guangdong (3.50 ng/mL), Zhejiang (2.57 ng/mL), and Fujian (2.15 ng/mL) having the highest urine BPA levels. Serum BPA was investigated in 15 provinces; Jiangsu (9.14 ng/mL) and Shandong (5.80 ng/mL) were relatively high. The results also indicated that males' urine and serum BPA levels were higher than females, while the BPA levels in children were also higher than in adults (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the volume of garbage disposal (r = 0.39, p < 0.05), household sewage (r = 0.34, p < 0.05), and waste incineration content (r = 0.35, p < 0.05) exhibited a strong positive connection with urine BPA levels in Chinese individuals. Conclusion: Despite using a data consolidation approach, our study found that the Chinese population was exposed to significant amounts of BPA, and males having a higher level than females. Besides, the levels of BPA exposure are influenced by the volume of garbage disposal, household sewage, and waste incineration content.

BACKGROUND: Understanding the patient journey is important to optimize care for patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) and overcome challenges in diagnosis and management. OBJECTIVE: To explore patient and caregiver perspectives regarding their experience with AD. METHODS: Patients and caregivers of patients with AD completed a pre-meeting survey and were invited to join an advisory board meeting in their country (China, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan and Lebanon) to discuss the survey results. Data were analyzed descriptively. RESULTS: The survey included 31 participants (patients and caregivers) from Hong Kong (n = 7), China (n = 7), Ireland (n = 6), Japan (n = 6) and Lebanon (n = 5). The most challenging factors in the AD journey were management of symptoms before a confirmed diagnosis (68%), sudden recurrence of flares or worsening of symptoms (68%) and lifestyle changes (52%). In terms of overall AD management, 35% of participants indicated that AD was managed well, 23% had a clear treatment plan and 19% were generally satisfied with disease management. A collaborative relationship with healthcare professionals was favored. CONCLUSION: A holistic assessment of AD includes understanding patient and caregiver preferences, needs, experiences and disease perceptions. Addressing the identified gaps may improve the management of AD.
