RESUMO

The gut microbiota is widely acknowledged as a crucial factor in regulating host health. The structure of dietary fibers determines changes in the gut microbiota and metabolic differences resulting from their fermentation, which in turn affect gut microbe-related health effects. ß-Glucan (BG) is a widely accessible dietary fiber to humans, and its structural characteristics vary depending on the source. However, the interactions between different structural BGs and gut microbiota remain unclear. This study used an in vitro fermentation model to investigate the effects of BG on gut microbiota, and microbiomics and metabolomics techniques to explore the relationship between the structure of BG, bacterial communities, and metabolic profiles. The four sources of BG (barley, yeast, algae, and microbial fermentation) contained different types and proportions of glycosidic bonds, which differentially altered the bacterial community. The BG from algal sources, which contained only ß(1 â†’ 4) glycosidic bonds, was the least metabolized by the gut microbiota and caused limited metabolic changes. The other three BGs contain more diverse glycosidic bonds and can be degraded by bacteria from multiple genera, causing a wider range of metabolic changes. This work also suggested potential synergistic degradation relationships between gut bacteria based on BG. Overall, this study deepens the structural characterization-microbial-functional understanding of BGs and provides theoretical support for the development of gut microbiota-targeted foods.

RESUMO

The gut microbiome displays genetic differences among populations, and characterization of the genomic landscape of the gut microbiome in China remains limited. Here, we present the Chinese Gut Microbial Reference (CGMR) set, comprising 101,060 high-quality metagenomic assembled genomes (MAGs) of 3,707 nonredundant species from 3,234 fecal samples across primarily rural Chinese locations, 1,376 live isolates mainly from lactic acid bacteria, and 987 novel species relative to worldwide databases. We observed region-specific coexisting MAGs and MAGs with probiotic and cardiometabolic functionalities. Preliminary mouse experiments suggest a probiotic effect of two Faecalibacillus intestinalis isolates in alleviating constipation, cardiometabolic influences of three Bacteroides fragilis_A isolates in obesity, and isolates from the genera Parabacteroides and Lactobacillus in host lipid metabolism. Our study expands the current microbial genomes with paired isolates and demonstrates potential host effects, contributing to the mechanistic understanding of host-microbe interactions.

RESUMO

Platelets, anucleate blood cells derive from megakaryocytes, are involved in cardiovascular diseases and tumors. FcγRIIA, the only FcγR expressed on human platelets, is known for its role in immune-related diseases. A growing body of evidence reveals that platelet FcγRIIA is a potential target for the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease and cancer, and is an advantageous biomarker. In this review, we describe the structure and physiological function of platelet FcγRIIA, its regulatory role in cardiovascular disease and cancer, and its potential clinical application.

RESUMO

To investigate the associations between corneal curvature (CC) and other anterior segment biometrics in young myopic adults. In this retrospective multi-center study, 7893 young myopic adults were included. CC and other anterior segment biometrics were measured by Scheimpflug imaging (Pentacam). CC was defined as SimK at central 3 mm area, and other anterior segment biometrics included white-to-white corneal diameter (WTW), central corneal thickness (CCT), corneal volume (CV) at 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm area, anterior corneal astigmatism (ACA), posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA), anterior corneal eccentricity (ACE) and asphericity (ACAP), posterior corneal eccentricity (PCE) and asphericity (PCAP), anterior chamber depth (ACD), and anterior chamber volume (ACV). Univariate regression analyses were used to assess the associations between CC and other anterior segment biometrics, and multivariate regression analyses were further performed to adjusted for age, gender and spherical equivalent. CC was higher in patients of female gender and higher myopia (all P < 0.05). Eyes in higher CC quartiles had lower WTW, thinner CCT, lower CV at 3 mm and 5 mm, lower ACD, and lower ACV (all P < 0.001), but had larger ACA, larger PCA, less PCE and less PCAP (all P < 0.001), compared to eyes in lower CC quartiles. The trends of CV at 7 mm, ACE and ACAP were inconsistent in different CC quartiles. After adjusting for age, gender and spherical equivalent with multivariate linear regression, CC was positively correlated to CV at 7 mm (ßs = 0.069), ACA (ßs = 0.194), PCA (ßs = 0.187), ACE (ßs = 0.072), PCAP (ßs = 0.087), and ACD (ßs = 0.027) (all P < 0.05), but was negatively correlated to WTW (ßs = - 0.432), CCT (ßs = - 0.087), CV-3 mm (ßs = - 0.066), ACAP (ßs = - 0.043), PCE (ßs = - 0.062), and ACV (ßs = - 0.188) (all P < 0.05). CC was associated with most of the other anterior segment biometrics in young myopic adults. These associations are important for better understanding of the interactions between different anterior segment structures in young myopic patients, and are also useful for the exploration of the pathogenesis of myopia.

RESUMO

Heterocycle-linked phthalocyanine-based COFs with close-packed π-π conjugated structures are a kind of material with intrinsic electrical conductivity, and they are considered to be candidates for photoelectrical devices. Previous studies have revealed their applications for energy storage, gas sensors, and field-effect transistors. However, their potential application in photodetector is still not fully studied. The main difficulty is preparing high-quality films. In our study, we found that our newly designed benzimidazole-linked Cu (II)-phthalocyanine-based COFs (BICuPc-COFs) film can hardly formed with a regular aerobic oxidation method. Therefore, we developed a transfer dehydrogenation method with N-benzylideneaniline (BA) as a mild reagent. With this in hand, we successfully prepared a family of high crystalline BICuPc-COFs powders and films. Furthermore, both of these new BICuPc-COFs films showed high electrical conductivity (0.022-0.218 S/m), higher than most of the reported COFs materials. Due to the broad absorption and high conductivity of BICuPc-COFs, synaptic devices with small source-drain voltage (VDS=1 V) were fabricated with response light from visible to near-infrared. Based on these findings, we expect this study will provide a new perspective for the application of conducting heterocycle-linked COFs in synaptic devices.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical outcomes of a modified arthroscopic triple-row (TR) repair technique with the suture bridge (SB) repair technique in treating L-shaped delaminated rotator cuff tears. Various surgical techniques for L-shaped delaminated rotator cuff tears have been reported, many of which aid in increasing the contact area and pressure of the rotator cuff. However, there is still debate over which technique yields superior results. METHODS: From January 2017 to March 2020, 61 cases of L-shaped delaminated rotator cuff tears were included in this study. Of these, 34 cases underwent the modified arthroscopic triple-row repair technique, while 27 cases were addressed with the suture bridge repair technique. Functional assessment was conducted using the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) shoulder score, the Constant score (CS), and the visual analogue scale (VAS) score. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) assessments for rotator cuff healing were performed at the 24-month postoperative mark. Statistical evaluations were conducted using SPSS for Windows (Version 25.0, IBM, Armonk, NY, USA), employing the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to compare preoperative and postoperative data and ROM differences, and the Mann-Whitney U test for statistical differences in clinical outcome scores between the two groups. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Comparative analysis of the preoperative and final follow-up scores revealed a substantial enhancement in shoulder function, as indicated by the ASES, UCLA, CS, and VAS scores, with statistical significance (p < 0.001). At both the preoperative stage and final follow-up, no notable differences were observed in ASES, UCLA, CS, and VAS scores between the two groups. However, the TR repair group exhibited lower VAS scores than the SB group at 1 and 3 months postoperatively. Active range of motion (ROM) showed significant improvement in both groups. No significant differences in ROM were noted between the two groups either before the surgery or at the final follow-up. CONCLUSION: The study demonstrates that both the modified arthroscopic TR and SB techniques for L-shaped delaminated cuff tears yield satisfactory outcomes, with no significant differences in overall clinical performance. Notably, early postoperative pain management appears more effective with the modified TR technique, suggesting its potential for enhanced early recovery experiences. This technique's design, promoting securer fixation and optimal contact conditions, is implied to facilitate superior long-term healing, warranting further investigation into its long-term benefits.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The gene cell division cycle associated 5 (CDCA5), also called sororin, has oncogenic characteristics and is upregulated in various carcinomas. Nevertheless, the involvement of CDCA5 in ovarian cancer (OC), a highly aggressive form of cancer, and the underlying mechanism of metastasis remain inadequately investigated. RESULTS: The bioinformatics data revealed a negative correlation between the patient's survival and CDCA5 expression, which was overexpressed in OC. Functional assays also confirmed high expression levels of CDCA5 in OC tissues and cells. This suggests that CDCA5 may potentially enhance the motility, migration, and proliferation of OC cells invitro. It impedes DNA damage and apoptosis in OC cells, inhibiting xenograft development in nude mice. The RNA sequencing results suggest CDCA5 is majorly associated with biological functions related to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and influences the transforming growth factor (TGF) signaling pathway. Moreover, subsequent functional investigations elucidated that CDCA5 facilitated the migration and invasion of OC cells viathe TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 signaling pathway activation. CONCLUSIONS: CDCA5 may be a strong potential therapeutic target for the treatment and management of OC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) elevates cancer risk. However, a single MetS assessment does not fully reveal the long-term association with cancer. Inflammation, alongside MetS, could synergistically expedite both the onset and advancement of cancer. This study aims to investigate MetS score trajectories and cancer risk in a large, prospective cohort study. METHODS: The authors prospectively examined the relationship between MetS score trajectory patterns and new-onset cancer in 44,115 participants. Latent mixture modeling was used to identify the MetS score trajectories. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to evaluate the association between MetS score trajectory patterns and the risk of overall and site-specific cancers. RESULTS: Four MetS score trajectory patterns were identified: low-stable (n = 4657), moderate-low (n = 18,018), moderate-high (n = 18,288), and elevated-increasing (n = 3152). Compared to participants with a low-stable trajectory pattern, the elevated-increasing trajectory pattern was associated with an elevated risk of overall (hazard ratio [HR], 1.27; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.04-1.55), breast (HR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.04-4.34), endometrial (HR, 3.33; 95% CI, 1.16-6.77), kidney (HR, 4.52; 95% CI, 1.17-10.48), colorectal (HR, 2.54; 95% CI, 1.27-5.09), and liver (HR, 1.61; 95% CI, 1.09-4.57) cancers. Among participants with chronic inflammation (C-reactive protein levels ≥3 mg/L), the elevated-increasing trajectory pattern was significantly associated with subsequent breast, endometrial, colorectal, and liver cancers. CONCLUSIONS: Trajectories of MetS scores are associated with the occurrence of cancers, especially breast, endometrial, kidney, colorectal, and liver cancers, emphasizing the importance of long-term monitoring and evaluation of MetS. PLAIN LANGUAGE SUMMARY: The association between long-term elevated metabolic syndrome (MetS) scores and a heightened risk of various cancers is a pivotal finding of our study. Our research further indicates that individuals with MetS, particularly when coupled with chronic inflammation, are at an increased risk of cancer. We propose that sustained monitoring and management of MetS could be beneficial in reducing cancer risk.

RESUMO

The interactions between white-to-white corneal diameter (WTW) and other ocular biometrics are important for planning of refractive surgery and understanding of ocular structural changes in myopia, but such interactions are rarely investigated in young myopic adults. This is a retrospective study involving 7893 young myopic adults from five centers. WTW and other ocular biometrics were measured by Pentacam. The ocular biometrics included anterior corneal curvature (AK) and posterior corneal curvature (PK), central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal volume (CV), anterior and corneal eccentricity and asphericity, anterior corneal astigmatism (ACA) and posterior corneal astigmatism, anterior chamber depth (ACD), and anterior chamber volume (ACV). The ocular biometrics were compared among eyes of different WTW quartiles. Multivariate linear regression was used to assess the linear associations between WTW and other ocular biometrics adjusting for age, gender and spherical equivalent. In eyes of different WTW quartiles, other ocular biometrics were also significantly different (all P < 0.05). After adjusting for age, gender and spherical equivalent, WTW was positively correlated to AK (ß = 0.26 to 0.29), ACA (ß = 0.13), anterior corneal asphericity (ß = 0.05), PK (ß = 0.33 to 0.34), posterior corneal asphericity (ß = 0.13), ACD (ß = 0.29), and ACV (ß = 40.69), and was negatively correlated to CCT (ß = - 6.83), CV (ß = - 0.06 to - 0.78), anterior corneal eccentricity (ß = - 0.035), and posterior corneal eccentricity (ß = - 0.14) (all P < 0.001). In conclusion, we found that in young myopic adults, larger WTW was associated with thinner corneal thickness, flatter corneal curvature, more anterior corneal toricity, less corneal eccentricity and asphericity, and broader anterior chamber. Our findings may fill in the gap of literature, and help us better understand how the anterior segment structures interact with the WTW in myopia.

RESUMO

Background: Inflammation and metabolic disorders are closely associated with cancer. Whether inflammation leads to metabolic disorders or vice versa during cancer initiation remains unclear. In this study, we explored this temporal relationship and the co-exposure effect on cancer risk. Methods: This prospective study had two phases. Initially, we examined the temporal relationship between inflammation (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP)) and metabolic disorders (metabolic syndrome severity Z-score (MetS-Z)) using a 3.98-year survey and cross-lagged analysis. Subsequently, we assessed the connection of co-exposure to inflammation and metabolic disorders, and the risks of overall cancer, as well as specific obesity-related, non-obesity-related, digestive system, lung, and other cancers using an 11.04-year survey and Cox proportional hazard models. Results: The cross-lagged analysis revealed that the path coefficient from baseline CRP to follow-up MetS-Z (ß2 = 0.032; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.026, 0.046) was more significant than the path coefficient from baseline MetS-Z to follow-up CRP (ß1 = 0.009; 95% CI = -0.001, 0.019). During the follow-up, 2304 cases of cancer occurred. Compared with the risk of cancer of patients with low average cumulative CRP and MetS-Z, patients with high value had a significantly increased risk (hazard ratio = 1.54, 95% CI = 1.30, 1.83). The mediation analysis showed that MetS-Z mediated the association between CRP levels and overall cancer (12.67%), digestive system cancer (10.16%), and obesity-related cancer risk (13.87%). Conclusions: Inflammation had a greater impact on metabolic disorders than vice versa. Co-exposure to inflammation and metabolic disorders significantly increased the risk of cancer, particularly digestive system and obesity-related cancers. RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Baseline sleep duration is associated with cancer risk and cancer-specific mortality; however, the association between longitudinal patterns of sleep duration and these risks remains unknown. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to elucidate the association between sleep duration trajectory and cancer risk and cancer-specific mortality. METHODS: The participants recruited in this study were from the Kailuan cohort, with all participants aged between 18 and 98 years and without cancer at baseline. The sleep duration of participants was continuously recorded in 2006, 2008, and 2010. Latent mixture modeling was used to identify shared sleep duration trajectories. Furthermore, the Cox proportional risk model was used to examine the association of sleep duration trajectory with cancer risk and cancer-specific mortality. RESULTS: A total of 53,273 participants were included in the present study, of whom 40,909 (76.79%) were men and 12,364 (23.21%) were women. The average age of the participants was 49.03 (SD 11.76) years. During a median follow-up of 10.99 (IQR 10.27-11.15) years, 2705 participants developed cancers. Three sleep duration trajectories were identified: normal-stable (44,844/53,273, 84.18%), median-stable (5877/53,273, 11.03%), and decreasing low-stable (2552/53,273, 4.79%). Compared with the normal-stable group, the decreasing low-stable group had increased cancer risk (hazard ratio [HR] 1.39, 95% CI 1.16-1.65) and cancer-specific mortality (HR 1.54, 95% CI 1.18-2.06). Dividing the participants by an age cutoff of 45 years revealed an increase in cancer risk (HR 1.88, 95% CI 1.30-2.71) and cancer-specific mortality (HR 2.52, 95% CI 1.22-5.19) only in participants younger than 45 years, rather than middle-aged or older participants. Joint analysis revealed that compared with participants who had a stable sleep duration within the normal range and did not snore, those with a shortened sleep duration and snoring had the highest cancer risk (HR 2.62, 95% CI 1.46-4.70). CONCLUSIONS: Sleep duration trajectories and quality are closely associated with cancer risk and cancer-specific mortality. However, these associations differ with age and are more pronounced in individuals aged <45 years. RESUMO

Failure to adequately reconstruct the tendon-to-bone interface constitutes the primary etiology underlying rotator cuff retear after surgery. The purpose of this study is to construct a dynamic chondroitin sulfate and chitosan hydrogel scaffold (CHS) with bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), then seed tendon stem cells (TSCs) on BMP2-CHS for the rotator cuff reconstruction of tendon-to-bone interface. In this dynamic hydrogel system, the scaffold could not only have good biocompatibility and degradability but also significantly promote the proliferation and differentiation of TSCs. The ability of BMP2-CHS combined with TSCs to promote regeneration of tendon-to-bone interface was further verified in the rabbit rotator cuff tear model. The results showed that BMP2-CHS combined with TSCs could induce considerable collagen, fibrocartilage, and bone arrangement and growth at the tendon-to-bone interface and promote the biomechanical properties. Overall, TSCs seeded on CHS with BMP2 can enhance tendon-to-bone healing and provide a new possibility for improving the poor prognosis of rotator cuff surgery.

RESUMO

In this study, we investigated the impact of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) CCFM8661 on the gut microbiota, and the serum and fecal metabolomes in lead (Pb)-exposed individuals. The volunteers recruited for this study were divided into two treatment groups, (i) the placebo (control) and (ii) the L. plantarum CCFM8661 treatment groups. The analysis revealed that probiotic intervention reversed some of the changes in Pb exposure-induced intestinal bacterial abundance, including the abundance of Parabacteroides, Bacteroides, Clostridiaceae, and Erysipelotrichaceae. An analysis of the fecal metabolome identified 26 differential metabolites involved in purine metabolism, unsaturated fatty acid metabolism, and other pathways. Serum metabolite analysis showed that L. plantarum CCFM8661 treatment altered the serum metabolite levels of various metabolic pathways, such as the glycerophospholipid, amino acid, and glutathione metabolism pathways. These results suggest that L. plantarum CCFM8661 may have beneficial effects on Pb-exposed populations by modulating the gut microbiota, host serum metabolism, and the metabolism of the gut microbiota.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the effect of chitosan (CS) hydrogel loaded with tendon-derived stem cells (TDSCs; hereinafter referred to as TDSCs/CS hydrogel) on tendon-to-bone healing after rotator cuff repair in rabbits. Methods: TDSCs were isolated from the rotator cuff tissue of 3 adult New Zealand white rabbits by Henderson step-by-step enzymatic digestion method and identified by multidirectional differentiation and flow cytometry. The 3rd generation TDSCs were encapsulated in CS to construct TDSCs/CS hydrogel. The cell counting kit 8 (CCK-8) assay was used to detect the proliferation of TDSCs in the hydrogel after 1-5 days of culture in vitro, and cell compatibility of TDSCs/CS hydrogel was evaluated by using TDSCs alone as control. Another 36 adult New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups ( n=12): rotator cuff repair group (control group), rotator cuff repair+CS hydrogel injection group (CS group), and rotator cuff repair+TDSCs/CS hydrogel injection group (TDSCs/CS group). After establishing the rotator cuff repair models, the corresponding hydrogel was injected into the tendon-to-bone interface in the CS group and TDSCs/CS group, and no other treatment was performed in the control group. The general condition of the animals was observed after operation. At 4 and 8 weeks, real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) was used to detect the relative expressions of tendon forming related genes (tenomodulin, scleraxis), chondrogenesis related genes (aggrecan, sex determining region Y-related high mobility group-box gene 9), and osteogenesis related genes (alkaline phosphatase, Runt-related transcription factor 2) at the tendon-to-bone interface. At 8 weeks, HE and Masson staining were used to observe the histological changes, and the biomechanical test was used to evaluate the ultimate load and the failure site of the repaired rotator cuff to evaluate the tendon-to-bone healing and biomechanical properties. Results: CCK-8 assay showed that the CS hydrogel could promote the proliferation of TDSCs ( P<0.05). qPCR results showed that the expressions of tendon-to-bone interface related genes were significantly higher in the TDSCs/CS group than in the CS group and control group at 4 and 8 weeks after operation ( P<0.05). Moreover, the expressions of tendon-to-bone interface related genes at 8 weeks after operation were significantly higher than those at 4 weeks after operation in the TDSCs/CS group ( P<0.05). Histological staining showed the clear cartilage tissue and dense and orderly collagen formation at the tendon-to-bone interface in the TDSCs/CS group. The results of semi-quantitative analysis showed that compared with the control group, the number of cells, the proportion of collagen fiber orientation, and the histological score in the TDSCs/CS group increased, the vascularity decreased, showing significant differences ( P<0.05); compared with the CS group, the proportion of collagen fiber orientation and the histological score in the TDSCs/CS group significantly increased ( P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in the number of cells and vascularity ( P>0.05). All samples in biomechanical testing failed at the repair site during the testing process. The ultimate load of the TDSCs/CS group was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0.05), but there was no significant difference compared to the CS group ( P>0.05). Conclusion: TDSCs/CS hydrogel can induce cartilage regeneration to promote rotator cuff tendon-to-bone healing.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory diseases may occur within the crypt beside the preputial frenulum in men. This study was performed to gain an understanding of the etiology, clinical manifestations, and management methods of cryptitis beside the preputial frenulum in men. RESULTS: Thirteen patients treated for cryptitis beside the preputial frenulum served as the observation group, and 40 healthy individuals served as the control group. The patients' clinical manifestation was the presence of a yellowish oily substance embedded in the crypt. Wiping off the substance revealed a conical blind cavity-like structure with an opening diameter of 1 to 5 mm (2.8 ± 1.3 mm) and depth of 1 to 4 mm (2.5 ± 1.1 mm). No blind cavity-like structures in the crypt were found in the control group. The shortest distance between the opening edges of the bilateral crypts in the observation and control groups was 6 to 14 mm (10.3 ± 2.4 mm) and 2 to 10 mm (3.9 ± 1.9 mm), respectively, with a statistically significant difference. Examination for pathogens in the secretions from skin lesions showed that the three most common pathogens were Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. All patients recovered after antibiotic treatment. CONCLUSIONS: A blind cavity-like structure in the crypt may be related to excessive width of the preputial frenulum. Cryptitis may be a secondary infection caused by smegma trapped in the blind cavity-like structure. Maintaining cleanliness in the frenulum area may help to prevent the occurrence of cryptitis. Antibiotic treatment is effective.

The inevitable organic matters in radioactive wastewater and contaminated waters pose great challenge in uranium recycling by traditional techniques. Here, a self-driven solar coupling system (SSCS), which was assembled by a TiO2 @MXene/CF cathode and a monolithic photoanode, was proposed for synergistically recycling uranium and degrading organics from complex radioactive wastewater, combining with electricity production. The TiO2 @MXene/CF was prepared via a simple annealing process with in-situ derived TiO2 nanoparticles decorated Ti3C2 MXene coated on carbon felt (CF). Under sunlight illumination, the photoanode captured electrons of organics, and drove electrons to the TiO2 @MXene/CF, which exhibited an exceptional UO22+ adsorption and reduction capacity because TiO2 nanoparticles provided plenty of surface hydroxyl groups for UO22+ adsorption, and the unique two-dimensional MXene facilitated the charge transfer. The SSCS with TiO2 @MXene/CF removed almost 100% UO22+ and organics with rate constants of ∼21 and ∼6.9 times those of the system with CF, accompanying with excellent power output (∼1000 µW·cm-2). The fixed uranium on TiO2 @MXene/CF was effectively reduced into insoluble UO2 (91.1%), and no obvious decay was observed after 15 repeated uses. This study proposes a multi-functional and easy-operated way for remediating radioactive wastewater and contaminated waters, and gives valuable insights in designing cathode materials for uranium reduction.

RESUMO

Purpose: To explore the clinical application value of indocyanine green (ICG)-rituximab in sentinel lymph node biopsy. Methods: This study included 156 patients with primary breast cancer: 50 patients were enrolled in dose-climbing test, and 106 patients were enrolled in verification test. This was to compare the consistency of ICG-rituximab and combined method in the detected lymph nodes. Results: According to the verification test, the imaging rate of ICG-rituximab was 97.3%. Compared with the combined method, the concordance rate of fluorescence method was 0.991 (28 + 78/107; p < 0.001). Conclusion: For ICG-rituximab as a fluorescent targeting tracer, the optimal imaging dose of ICG 93.75 µg/rituximab 375 µg can significantly reduce the imaging of secondary lymph nodes. Compared with the combined method, it has a higher concordance rate.

RESUMO

Conductive hydrogels have attracted much attention for their wide application in the field of flexible wearable sensors due to their outstanding flexibility, conductivity and sensing properties. However, the weak mechanical properties, lack of frost resistance and susceptibility to microbial contamination of traditional conductive hydrogels greatly limit their practical application. In this work, multifunctional polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)/poly(acrylamide-co-1-vinyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide) (P(AAm-co-VBIMBr)) (PCPAV) ionic conductive hydrogels with high strength and good conductive, transparent, anti-freezing and antibacterial properties were constructed by introducing a network of chemically crosslinked AAm and VBIMBr copolymers into the base material of PVA and CMC by in situ free radical polymerization. Owing to the multiple interactions between the polymers, including covalent crosslinking, multiple hydrogen bonding interactions, and electrostatic interactions, the obtained ionic conductive hydrogels exhibit a high tensile strength (360.6 kPa), a large elongation at break (810.6%), good toughness, and fatigue resistance properties. The introduction of VBIMBr endows the PCPAV hydrogels with excellent transparency (∼92%), a high ionic conductivity (15.2 mS cm-1), antimicrobial activity and good flexibility and conductivity at sub-zero temperatures. Notably, the PCPAV hydrogels exhibit a wide strain range (0-800%), high strain sensitivity (GF = 3.75), fast response, long-term stability, and fantastic durability, which enable them to detect both large joint movements and minute muscle movements. Based on these advantages, it is believed that the PCPAV-based hydrogel sensors would have potential applications in health monitoring, human motion detection, soft robotics, ionic skins, human-machine interfaces, and other flexible electronic devices.

RESUMO

To assess the effect of sodium fluorescein (NaF) strip on corneal parameters commonly used in Laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Eighty-six subjects (172 eyes) scheduled for LASIK were recruited between January and March 2022. The study and statistical analysis test were conducted in April 2022. Topographic measurements of corneal parameters, including central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior keratometric (K) readings (K1, flat keratometry; K2, steep keratometry), horizontal corneal diameter (white to white, WTW), and corneal asphericity (Q value), were obtained using a Scheimpflug device (Pentacam) before and 10 min after NaF strip treatmentThe Pentacam recorded a small significant increase in CCT (mean 538.88 ± 28.78 µm to 547.90 ± 29.94 µm; p < .001), with no differences in K1 and K2 (mean 42.24 ± 1.35D to 42.24 ± 1.35D, and mean 43.34 ± 1.50D to 43.32 ± 1.51D; P > .05, for all) as well as WTW(mean 11.58 ± 0.32 mm to 11.58 ± 0.32 mm, P > .05) before and after NaF strip intervention. Furthermore, there was no significant difference was observed in Q value (mean - 0.30 ± 0.13 to - 0.30 ± 0.14, P > .05). These results indicate that clinicians should avoid NaF strip application before obtaining precise topographic measurements of cornea parameters using the Pentacam.
