Herpes simplex virus-2 encephalitis (HSV2E) in immunocompetent adults is exceptionally rare, and the subsequent onset of autoimmune encephalitis after HSV2E is even less common. This report presents the inaugural Chinese case of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis (NMDARE) induced by HSV2E, confirmed via metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS). The patient demonstrated a favorable response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) monotherapy. This case emphasizes the importance of considering autoimmune encephalitis in patients exhibiting new or recurrent neurological symptoms after HSV2E recovery. Comprehensive mNGS and neuronal antibody testing are essential for timely diagnosis. Moreover, IVIG monotherapy can serve as an effective treatment for NMDARE induced by HSV2, providing a viable alternative, particularly when steroid therapy is contraindicated.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is recognized as the leading cause of dementia, imposing a significant economic toll on society. Despite the emergence of novel therapeutic approaches for AD, their efficacy and safety mandates further validation through rigorous clinical trials. In this context, hypertension (HTN) has garnered considerable attention as an amendable risk factor for AD. Research indicates that hypertension during midlife is associated with an elevated risk of AD in later years, influencing both the onset and progression of the disease. Nevertheless, the relationship between AD and hypertension in the later stages of life remains a subject of debate. Moreover, the consequences of blood pressure reduction on cognitive function, along with the optimal pharmacological interventions and therapeutic thresholds for hypertension, have emerged as pivotal areas of inquiry. This review synthesizes findings on epidemiology, neuroimaging, and biomarkers, and the effects of antihypertensive medications to elucidate the link between hypertension and cognitive performance. We particularly investigate how hypertension and AD are related by plasma sulfide dysregulation, offering possible indicators for future diagnosis and therapy.

Sepsis is a severe systemic infectious disease that often leads to multi-organ dysfunction. One of the common and serious complications of sepsis is renal injury. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential mechanistic role of a novel compound called H-151 in septic kidney injury. We also examined its impact on renal function and mouse survival rates. Initially, we confirmed abnormal activation of the STING-TBK1 signaling pathway in the kidneys of septic mice. Subsequently, we treated the mice with H-151 and observed significant improvement in sepsis-induced renal dysfunction. This was evidenced by reductions in blood creatinine and urea nitrogen levels, as well as a marked decrease in inflammatory cytokine levels. Furthermore, H-151 substantially improved the seven-day survival rate of septic mice, indicating its therapeutic potential. Importantly, H-151 also exhibited an inhibitory effect on renal apoptosis levels, further highlighting its mechanism of protecting against septic kidney injury. These study findings not only offer new insights into the treatment of septic renal injury but also provide crucial clues for further investigations into the regulatory mechanisms of the STING-TBK1 signaling pathway and potential drug targets.

In conventional chromatographic ligand screening, underperforming ligands are often dismissed. However, this practice may inadvertently overlook potential opportunities. This study aims to investigate whether these underperforming ligands can be repurposed as valuable assets. Hydrophobic charge-induction chromatography (HCIC) is chosen as the validation target for its potential as an innovative chromatographic mode. A novel dual-ligand approach is employed, combining two suboptimal ligands (5-Aminobenzimidazole and Tryptamine) to explore enhanced performance and optimization prospects. Various dual-ligand HCIC resins with different ligand densities were synthesized by adjusting the ligand ratio and concentration. The resins were characterized to assess appearance, functional groups, and pore features using SEM, FTIR, and ISEC techniques. Performance assessments were conducted using single-ligand mode resins as controls, evaluating the selectivity against human immunoglobulin G and human serum albumin. Static adsorption experiments were performed to understand pH and salt influence on adsorption. Breakthrough experiments were conducted to assess dynamic adsorption capacity of the novel resin. Finally, chromatographic separation using human serum was performed to evaluate the purity and yield of the resin. Results indicated that the dual-ligand HCIC resin designed for human antibodies demonstrates exceptional selectivity, surpassing not only single ligand states but also outperforming certain high-performing ligand types, particularly under specific salt and pH conditions. Ultimately, a high yield of 83.9 % and purity of 96.7 % were achieved in the separation of hIgG from human serum with the dual-ligand HCIC, significantly superior to the single-ligand resins. In conclusion, through rational design and proper operational conditions, the dual-ligand mode can revitalize underutilized ligands, potentially introducing novel and promising chromatographic modes.

BACKGROUND: Yiqi Peiyuan (YQPY) prescription, a composite prescription of traditional Chinese medicine, has been used to prevent or delay the continued deterioration of renal function after acute kidney injury (AKI) in some institutions and has shown considerable efficacy. OBJECTIVE: This is the first randomized controlled trial to assess efficacy and safety of YQPY for improving short-term prognosis in adult patients with AKI. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS: This is a prospective, double-blind, multicenter, randomized, and placebo-controlled clinical trial. A total of 144 enrolled participants were randomly allocated to two groups according to a randomization schedule. Participants, caregivers and investigators assessing the outcomes were blinded to group assignment. Patients in the YQPY group received 36 g YQPY granules twice a day for 28 days. Patients in the placebo group received a placebo in the same dose as the YQPY granules. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary outcome was the change in the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) between baseline and after 4 and 24 weeks of treatment. The secondary outcomes were the change of serum creatinine (Scr) level between baseline and after treatment, and the incidence of endpoint events, defined as eGFR increasing by more than 25% above baseline, eGFR >75 mL/min per 1.73 m2 or the composite endpoint, which was defined as the sum of patients meeting either of the above criteria. RESULTS: Data from a total of 114 patients (59 in the YQPY group and 55 in the control group) were analyzed. The mean changes in eGFR and Scr in weeks 4 and 24 had no difference between the two groups. In further subgroup analysis (22 in the YQPY group and 31 in the control group), the mean change in eGFR after treatment for 4 weeks was 27.39 mL/min per 1.73 m2 in the YQPY group and 5.78 mL/min per 1.73 m2 in the placebo group, and the mean difference between groups was 21.61 mL/min per 1.73 m2 (P < 0.001). Thirteen (59.1%) patients in the YQPY group and 5 (16.1%) in the placebo group reached the composite endpoints (P = 0.002). During the intervention, 2 and 4 severe adverse events were reported in the YQPY and placebo groups, respectively. CONCLUSION: The YQPY granules can effectively improve the renal function of patients 4 weeks after the onset of AKI, indicating that it has good efficacy for improving short-term renal outcomes in patients with AKI. Candidalysin, a cytolytic peptide toxin secreted by the human fungal pathogen Candida albicans, is critical for fungal pathogenesis. Yet, its intracellular targets have not been extensively mapped. Here, we performed a high-throughput enhanced yeast two-hybrid (HT-eY2H) screen to map the interactome of all eight Ece1 peptides with their direct human protein targets and identified a list of potential interacting proteins, some of which were shared between the peptides. CCNH, a regulatory subunit of the CDK-activating kinase (CAK) complex involved in DNA damage repair, was identified as one of the host targets of candidalysin. Mechanistic studies revealed that candidalysin triggers a significantly increased double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs), as evidenced by the formation of γ-H2AX foci and colocalization of CCNH and γ-H2AX. Importantly, candidalysin binds directly to CCNH to activate CAK to inhibit DNA damage repair pathway. Loss of CCNH alleviates DSBs formation under candidalysin treatment. Depletion of candidalysin-encoding gene fails to induce DSBs and stimulates CCNH upregulation in a murine model of oropharyngeal candidiasis. Collectively, our study reveals that a secreted fungal toxin acts to hijack the canonical DNA damage repair pathway by targeting CCNH and to promote fungal infection.

BACKGROUND: The complexity of left ventricular (LV) trabeculae is related to the prognosis of several cardiovascular diseases. PURPOSE: To evaluate the prognostic value of LV trabecular complexity in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). STUDY TYPE: Prospective outcome study. POPULATION: 207 participants on maintenance dialysis, divided into development (160 patients from 2 centers) and external validation (47 patients from a third center) cohorts, and 72 healthy controls. FIELD STRENGTH: 3.0T, steady-state free precession (SSFP) and modified Look-Locker imaging sequences. ASSESSMENT: All participants had their trabecular complexity quantified by fractal analysis using cine SSFP images. Patients were followed up every 2 weeks until April 2023, or endpoint events happened. Random Forest (RF) and Cox regression models including age, diabetes, LV mass index, mean basal fractal dimension (FD), and left atrial volume index, were developed to predict major adverse cardiac events (MACE). Patients were divided into low- and high-risk groups based on scores derived from the RF model and survival compared. STATISTICAL TESTS: Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis; Kaplan-Meier survival analysis with log rank tests; Harrel's C-index to assess model performance. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Fifty-five patients (26.57%) experienced MACE during a median follow-up time of 21.83 months. An increased mean basal FD (≥1.324) was associated with a significantly higher risk of MACE. The RF model (C-index: 0.81) had significantly better discrimination than the Cox regression model (C-index: 0.74). Participants of the external validation dataset classified into the high-risk group had a hazard of experiencing MACE increased by 12.29 times compared to those in the low-risk group. DATA CONCLUSION: LV basal FD was an independent predictor for MACE in patients with ESRD. Reliable risk stratification models could be generated based on LV basal FD and other MRI variables using RF analysis. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 2 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

As the representative item of environmental chemical carcinogen, MNNG was closely associated with the onset of Gastric cancer (GC), while the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here, we comprehensively analyzed the potential clinical significance of METTL3 in multiple GC patient cohorts. Additionally, we demonstrated that long-term exposure to MNNG elevated METTL3 and EMT marker expression by in vitro and in vivo models. Furthermore, the depletion of METTL3 impacted the proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenesis of MNNG malignant transformation cells and GC cells. By me-RIP sequencing, we identified a panel of vital miRNAs potentially regulated by METTL3 that aberrantly expressed in MNNG-induced GC cells. Mechanistically, we showed that METTL3 meditated miR-1184/TRPM2 axis by regulating the process of miRNA-118. Our results provide novel insights into critical epigenetic molecular events vital to MNNG-induced gastric carcinogenesis. These findings suggest the potential therapeutic targets of METTL3 for GC treatment.

BACKGROUND: Vertical run-length nonuniformity (VRLN) is a texture feature representing heterogeneity within native T1 images and reflects the extent of cardiac fibrosis. In uremic cardiomyopathy, interstitial fibrosis was the major histological alteration. The prognostic value of VRLN in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) remains unclear. PURPOSE: To evaluate the prognostic value of VRLN MRI in patients with ESRD. STUDY TYPE: Prospective. POPULATION: A total of 127 ESRD patients (30 participants in the major adverse cardiac events, MACE group). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3.0 T/steady-state free precession sequence, modified Look-Locker imaging. ASSESSMENT: MRI image qualities were assessed by three independent radiologists. VRLN values were measured in the myocardium on the mid-ventricular short-axis slice of T1 mapping. Left ventricular (LV) mass, LV end-diastolic and end-systolic volume, as well as LV global strain cardiac parameters were measured. STATISTICAL TESTS: The primary endpoint was the incident of MACE from enrollment time to January 2023. MACE is a composite endpoint consisting of all-cause mortality, acute myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure hospitalization, and life-threatening arrhythmia. Cox proportional-hazards regression was performed to test whether VRLN independently correlated with MACE. The intraclass correlation coefficients of VRLN were calculated to evaluate intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility. The C-index was computed to examine the prognostic value of VRLN. P-value <0.05 were considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Participants were followed for a median of 26 months. VRLN, age, LV end-systolic volume index, and global longitudinal strain remained significantly associated with MACE in the multivariable model. Adding VRLN to a baseline model containing clinical and conventional cardiac MRI parameters significantly improved the accuracy of the predictive model (C-index of the baseline model: 0.781 vs. the model added VRLN: 0.814). DATA CONCLUSION: VRLN is a novel marker for risk stratification toward MACE in patients with ESRD, superior to native T1 mapping and LV ejection fraction. Solenopsis invicta is a main issue in southern China and is causing significant damage to the local ecological environment. The extensive use of insecticides has resulted in the development of tolerance in S. invicta. In our study, ten S. invicta colonies from Sichuan Province exhibited varying degrees of tolerance against flonicamid, with LC50 values from 0.49 mg/L to 8.54 mg/L. The sensitivity of S. invicta to flonicamid significantly increased after treatment with the P450 enzyme inhibitor piperonyl butoxide (PBO). Additionally, the activity of P450 in S. invicta was significantly enhanced after being treated with flonicamid. Flonicamid induced the expression levels of CYP4aa1, CYP9e2, CYP4C1, and CYP6A14. The expression levels of these P450 genes were significantly higher in the tolerant colonies compared to the sensitive colonies, and the relative copy numbers of CYP6A14 in the tolerant colonies were 2.01-2.15 fold. RNAi feeding treatment effectively inhibited the expression of P450 genes, thereby reducing the tolerance of S. invicta against flonicamid. In addition, the overexpression of CYP6A14 in D. melanogaster resulted in reduced sensitivity to flonicamid. Our investigations revealed hydrophobic interactions between flonicamid and seven amino acid residues of CYP6A14, along with the formation of a hydrogen bond between Glu306 and flonicamid. Our findings suggest that flonicamid can effectively control S. invicta and P450 plays a pivotal role in the tolerance of S. invicta against flonicamid. The overexpression of CYP6A14 also increased tolerance to flonicamid.

PURPOSE: To measure left ventricular (LV) trabecular complexity by fractal dimension (FD) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and assess whether FD was an independent risk factor for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), or a significant predictor for adverse outcome in this population. METHODS: The study retrospectively enrolled 104 participants with ESRD who underwent 3.0 T cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from June 2018 to November 2020. LV trabeculation was quantified with fractal analysis of short-axis cine slices to estimate the FD. Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate FD and cardiac MRI parameters and to find independent risk predictors. Cox proportional hazard regression was used to investigate the association between FD and MACE. RESULTS: LV FD was higher in in the HFpEF group than those in the non-HFpEF group, with the greatest difference near the base of the ventricle. Age, minimum left atrial volume index, and LV mean basal FD were independent predictors for HFpEF in patients with ESRD. Combining the mean basal FD with typical predictive factors resulted in a C-index (0.902 vs 0.921), which was not significantly higher. Same improvements were found for net reclassification improvement [0.642; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.254-1.029] and integrated discrimination index (0.026; 95% CI, 0.008-0.061). Participants with a LV global FD above the cutoff value (1.278) had higher risks of MACE in ESRD patients. CONCLUSIONS: LV trabecular complexity measured by FD was an independent risk factor for HFpEF, and a significant predictor for MACE among patients with ESRD.

BACKGROUND: Left ventricular global function index (LVGFI) integrates LV volumetric and functional parameters. In patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), cardiac injury manifests as LV hypertrophy and dysfunction. However, the prognostic value of LVGFI in this population remains unclear. PURPOSE: To investigate the association of LVGFI with major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients with ESRD. STUDY TYPE: Prospective. POPULATION: One hundred fifty-eight ESRD patients (mean age: 54.1 ± 14.4 years; 105 male) on maintenance dialysis. FILED STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: 3.0 T, balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) cine and modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) sequences. ASSESSMENT: LV volumetric and functional parameters were determined from bSSFP images. LVGFI was calculated as the ratio of stroke volume to global volume and native T1 was determined from MOLLI T1 maps. MACE was recorded on follow up. Models were developed to predict MACE from conventional risk factors combined with LVGFI, GLS, native T1, and LV mass index (LVMI), respectively. Subgroup analyses were further performed in participants with LVEF above median. STATISTICAL TESTS: Cox proportional hazard regression and log-rank test were used to investigate the association between LVGFI and MACE. The predictive models were evaluated and compared using Harrell's C-statistics and DeLong tests. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Thirty-four MACE occurred during the median follow-up period of 26 months. The hazard of MACE increased by 114% for each 10% decrease in LVGFI in univariable analysis. The predictive model consisting of LVGFI (C-statistic: 0.724) had significantly better predictive performance than the others (all P < 0.001). These results were consistent in patients (N = 79) with LVEF > median (63.54%). DATA CONCLUSION: LVGFI is a novel marker for MACE risk stratification in patients with ESRD and was better able to predict MACE than native T1 mapping and GLS. Tumor mRNA vaccines have been developed for over 20 years. Whether mRNA vaccines could promote a clinical benefit to advanced cancer patients is highly unknown. PubMed and Embase were retrieved from January 1, 2000 to January 4, 2023. Random effects models were employed. Clinical benefit (objective response rate [ORR], disease control rate [DCR], 1-year/2-year progression-free survival [PFS], and overall survival [OS]) and safety (vaccine-related grade 3-5 adverse events [AEs]) were evaluated. Overall, 984 patients (32 trials) were enrolled. The most typical cancer types were melanoma (13 trials), non-small cell lung cancer (5 trials), renal cell carcinoma (4 trials), and prostate adenocarcinoma (4 trials). The pooled ORR and DCR estimates were 10.0% (95%CI, 4.6-17.0%) and 34.6% (95%CI, 24.1-45.9%). The estimates for 1-year and 2-year PFS were 38.4% (95%CI, 24.8-53.0%) and 20.0% (95%CI, 10.4-31.7%), respectively. The estimates for 1-year and 2-year OS were 75.3% (95%CI, 62.4-86.3%) and 45.5% (95%CI, 34.0-57.2%), respectively. The estimate for vaccine-related grade 3-5 AEs was 1.0% (95%CI, 0.2-2.4%). Conclusively, mRNA vaccines seem to demonstrate modest clinical response rates, with acceptable survival rates and rare grade 3-5 AEs.

INTRODUCTION: The tissue stiffness of donor kidneys in transplantation may increase due to pathological changes such as glomerulosclerosis and interstitial fibrosis, and those changes associate worse outcomes in kidney transplantation recipients. Ultrasound elastography is a noninvasive imaging examination with the ability to quantitatively reflect tissue stiffness. Aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of ultrasound elastography for adverse kidney outcome in kidney transplantation recipients. METHODS: Shear wave elastography (SWE) examinations were performed by two independent operators in kidney transplantation recipients. The primary outcome was a composite of kidney graft deterioration, all-cause re-hospitalization, and all-cause mortality. Survival analysis was calculated by Kaplan-Meier curves with the log-rank test and Cox regression analysis. RESULTS: A total of 161 patients (mean age 46 years, 63.4% men) were followed for a median of 20.1 months. 27 patients (16.77%) reached the primary endpoint. The mean and median tissue stiffness at the medulla (hazard ratio: 1.265 and 1.229, respectively), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and serum albumin level were associated with the primary outcome in univariate Cox regression. Adding mean or median medulla SWE to a baseline model containing eGFR and albumin significantly improved its discrimination (C-statistics: 0.736 for the baseline, 0.766 and 0.772 for the model added mean and median medulla SWE, respectively). CONCLUSION: The medullary tissue stiffness of kidney allograft measured by shear wave elastography may provide incremental prognostic value to adverse outcomes in kidney transplantation recipients. Including SWE parameters in kidney transplantation recipients management could be considered to improve risk stratification.

Methane has shown protective effects on a variety of diseases. Among these, neurological diseases have attracted much attention. However, there are many different indicators and application methods of methane in the treatment of neurological diseases. In this review, we summarize the indicators related to the protective effects of methane and evaluate the preparation and administration of methane. Thus, we hope to offer available indicators and effective ways to produce and administer methane in future research.

Therapeutic cancer vaccination seeks to elicit activation of tumor-reactive T cells capable of recognizing tumor-associated antigens (TAA) and eradicating malignant cells. Here, we present a cancer vaccination approach utilizing myeloid-lineage reprogramming to directly convert cancer cells into tumor-reprogrammed antigen-presenting cells (TR-APC). Using syngeneic murine leukemia models, we demonstrate that TR-APCs acquire both myeloid phenotype and function, process and present endogenous TAAs, and potently stimulate TAA-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. In vivo TR-APC induction elicits clonal expansion of cancer-specific T cells, establishes cancer-specific immune memory, and ultimately promotes leukemia eradication. We further show that both hematologic cancers and solid tumors, including sarcomas and carcinomas, are amenable to myeloid-lineage reprogramming into TR-APCs. Finally, we demonstrate the clinical applicability of this approach by generating TR-APCs from primary clinical specimens and stimulating autologous patient-derived T cells. Thus, TR-APCs represent a cancer vaccination therapeutic strategy with broad implications for clinical immuno-oncology. SIGNIFICANCE: Despite recent advances, the clinical benefit provided by cancer vaccination remains limited. We present a cancer vaccination approach leveraging myeloid-lineage reprogramming of cancer cells into APCs, which subsequently activate anticancer immunity through presentation of self-derived cancer antigens. Both hematologic and solid malignancies derive significant therapeutic benefit from reprogramming-based immunotherapy. This article is highlighted in the In This Issue feature, p. 1027.

BACKGROUND: The lack of randomized evidence makes it difficult to establish reliable treatment recommendations for patients with M2 occlusion. This study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment (EVT) with best medical management (BMM) in patients with M2 occlusion, and to investigate whether the optimal treatment varies according to stroke severity. METHODS: Comprehensive literature retrieval was conducted to identify studies that directly compared the outcomes of EVT and BMM. According to stroke severity, the study population were classified into those with moderate-severe stroke and those with mild stroke. National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores ≥ 6 was defined as moderate-severe stroke, and NIHSS scores 0-5 as mild stroke. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed to measure the symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) within 72 h, and the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores 0-2 and the mortality at 90 days. RESULTS: Totally, 20 studies were identified, including 4358 patients. In the moderate-severe stroke population, the EVT had 82% higher odds for mRS scores 0-2 (OR 1.82, 95% CI 1.34-2.49) and a 43% lower odds for mortality (OR 0.57, 95% CI 0.39-0.82) compared with the BMM. However, no difference was found in the sICH rate (OR 0.88, 95% CI 0.44-1.77). In the mild stroke population, no differences were observed in the mRS scores 0-2 (OR 0.81, 95% CI 0.59-1.10) or mortality (OR 1.23, 95% CI 0.72-2.10) between EVT and BMM, whereas EVT was associated with higher sICH rate (OR 4.21, 95% CI 1.86-9.49). CONCLUSION: EVT may be only beneficial for patients with M2 occlusion and high stroke severity, but not for those with NIHSS scores 0-5.

Based on the structural features of both succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors (SDHIs) and targeted covalent inhibitors, a series of N-phenylpropiolamides containing a Michael acceptor moiety were designed to find new antifungal compounds. Nineteen compounds showed potent inhibition activity in vitro on nine species of plant pathogenic fungi. Compounds 9 and 13 showed higher activity on most of the fungi than the standard drug azoxystrobin. Compound 13 could completely inhibit Physalospora piricola infection on apples at 200 µg/mL concentration over 7 days and showed high safety to seed germination and seedling growth of plants at ≤100 µg/mL concentration. The action mechanism showed that 13 is an SDH inhibitor with a median inhibitory concentration, IC50, value of 0.55 µg/mL, comparable with that of the positive drug boscalid. Molecular docking studies revealed that 13 can bind well to the ubiquinone-binding region of SDH by hydrogen bonds and undergoes π-alkyl interaction and π-cation interaction. At the cellular level, 1 as the parent compound could destruct the mycelial structure of P. piricola and partly dissolve the cell wall and/or membrane. Structure-activity relationship analysis showed that the acetenyl group should be a structure determinant for the activity, and the substitution pattern of the phenyl ring can significantly impact the activity. Thus, N-phenylpropiolamide emerged as a novel and promising lead scaffold for the development of new SDHIs for plant protection.
