RESUMO

Bone injury plagues millions of patients worldwide every year, and it demands a heavy portion of expense from the public medical insurance system. At present, orthopedists think that autologous bone transplantation is the gold standard for treating large-scale bone defects. However, this method has significant limitations, which means that parts of patients cannot obtain a satisfactory prognosis. Therefore, a basic study on new therapeutic methods is urgently needed. The in-depth research on crosstalk between macrophages (Mϕs) and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) suggests that there is a close relationship between inflammation and regeneration. The in-depth understanding of the crosstalk between Mϕs and BMSCs is helpful to amplify the efficacy of stem cell-based treatment for bone injury. Only in the suitable inflammatory microenvironment can the damaged tissues containing stem cells obtain satisfactory healing outcomes. The excessive tissue inflammation and lack of stem cells make the transplantation of biomaterials necessary. We can expect that the crosstalk between Mϕs and BMSCs and biomaterials will become the mainstream to explore new methods for bone injury in the future. This review mainly summarizes the research on the crosstalk between Mϕs and BMSCs and also briefly describes the effects of biomaterials and aging on cell transplantation therapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Endometriosis of the uterine body can be manifested as diffuse solid lesions or cystic lesions. The former is common, while the latter is rare, especially for cystic adenomyosis larger than 5 cm. CASE PRESENTATION: A 30-year-old woman was admitted for severe and worsening dysmenorrhea. Ultrasound examination revealed a rare well-circumscribed cystic lesion about 5.5 × 4 × 5.0 cm. CA-125 level was slightly elevated. She accepted laparoscopic surgery and the adenomyotic tissues were excised. The histopathology of the specimen demonstrated the endometrial glands in the walls of cysts and an area of extensive hemorrhage can be seen in the inner wall of cyst. The patient made a good recovery after surgery and her symptoms complete resoluted. CONCLUSIONS: This is a rare case of a cystic adenomyotic lesion that was treated by laparoscopic surgery.

RESUMO

Fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1DM) has received clinical attention for its low incidence and poor prognosis. Currently, few cases of FT1DM are associated with pregnancy in clinical practice, but it poses a great threat to the life of mothers and infants. Here, we present two cases of FT1DM in pregnancy. In Case 1, the patient was a 26-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital with reduced fetal movement. She was diagnosed with FT1DM and delivered a dead female fetus. Lispro and lantus were administered to control blood glucose, and lipoic acid for antioxidant therapy. In Case 2, the patient was a 28-year-old woman who developed nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and polydipsia, which later proved to be FT1DM. An abortion was induced and blood glucose levels were controlled using an insulin pump. All physicians should be aware of this disease in order to provide prompt diagnosis and emergency treatment, thus improving maternal prognosis. We suggest that plasma glucose/hemoglobin A1C ratio be adopted as a new clinical parameter in predicting FT1DM.

RESUMO

Based on heavy chassis dynamometer, an experimental study was conducted in diesel buses compliant with China Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ emissions standards respectively, fueled with three different blends of petroleum diesel/biodiesel (0%,5%and 10%, V/V biodiesel blends), which investigated the characteristics of particulate matter (PM) emission under CCBC driving cycle. Results of study showed that the total PM number and mass emission from China Ⅴ bus respectively decreased by 68.1%,56.2%,57.5% and 52.7%,64.8%, 88.5% compared to China Ⅲ bus. When compared to China Ⅳ bus, the PM mass emission decreased by 43.0%, 47.3% and 42.1%, while the number increased by 4.0%,7.6% and 14.7%. The nucleation mode PM emission of China Ⅲ bus was mainly from high-speed driving condition, while China Ⅳ and Ⅴ buses were from middle-low speed. The accumulation mode PM emissions of China Ⅲ, Ⅳ and V buses were all mainly from middle-low speed driving conditions. In relatively lower speed conditions, compared to China Ⅲ bus, the nucleation mode PM emissions of China Ⅳ and Ⅴ buses obviously decreased, so was accumulation mode PM. Compared to China Ⅳ bus, emission of China Ⅴ bus did not improve obviously and the nucleation mode PM emission even increased. In high-speed driving condition, the nucleation mode PM emission from China Ⅲ bus increased dramatically, while those from China Ⅴ and Ⅳ buses slightly increased. Meanwhile, the accumulation PM number and mass emission of China Ⅳ bus was obviously higher than those of China Ⅴ and Ⅲ buses. When fueled with B10, the relatively bigger sizes PM emission of China Ⅲ bus deteriorated rapidly, indicating that China Ⅲ bus was not suitable for fuel with high blending ratio of biodiesel.
