RESUMO

Background: Adenocarcinoma is a common histological subtype of cervical cancer, accounting for 10-15% of all cases. The prognosis of cervical adenocarcinoma with distant organ metastases remains unclear. Therefore, our study aimed to investigate the patterns and prognosis of distant organ metastasis in cervical adenocarcinoma. Methods: We obtained data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database spanning from 2010 to 2019. Cox regression, Kaplan-Meier, and log-rank analyses were conducted. Results: We observed that adenocarcinoma (AC) of the cervix primarily metastasizes to single organs, with a rate of 73.3%. The lungs are the most common organs of metastasis, followed by the liver and bones. Patients with bone metastases have a median survival period of 12 months, which is slightly longer compared to metastasis in other organs. Distant organ metastasis, age, positive lymph nodes, higher AJCC stages, larger tumor diameter, and higher cell grades are related to poor prognosis (p < 0.001). Furthermore, we have observed that surgical intervention, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy can potentially provide benefits for patients with distant organ metastases. Conclusion: Metastasis is an independent prognostic factor for cervical adenocarcinoma patients. Surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy can provide an overall survival advantage for patients with distant organ metastases.

RESUMO

Recent seismic events have unequivocally highlighted the susceptibility of fault-crossing bridges to the synergistic effects of ground surface vibrations on either side of the fault plane and the tectonic dislocations arising from fault-induced surface ruptures. This study delineates both seismic and parametric response analyses of fault-crossing suspension bridges, employing a straightforward yet efficacious method for simulating desired ground motions near fault-rupture zones. Herein, we introduce a user-friendly method to incorporate predicted fault-induced displacements, accounting for both fling-step and directivity effects, into processed ground motion chronologies, enabling the generation of dip-slip fault ground motions. The accuracy and efficacy of the proposed method are affirmed by juxtaposing the generated ground motions with the observed ones (MGM). An exhaustive parametric analysis, addressing factors like fault-crossing location, fault-crossing angle, and frequency components of fault-crossing ground motions, of a suspension bridge over a rupture fault, is executed using the fashionable ANSYS software. This study provides clear and specific guidelines for the seismic design of suspension bridges traversing rupture faults.

RESUMO

Aflatoxins are liver carcinogens and are common contaminants in unpackaged peanut (UPP) oil. However, the health risks associated with consuming aflatoxins in UPP oil remain unclear. In this study, aflatoxin contamination in 143 UPP oil samples from Guangdong Province were assessed via liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS). We also recruited 168 human subjects, who consumed this oil, to measure their liver functions and lipid metabolism status. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) was detected in 79.72% of the UPP oil samples, with levels ranging from 0.02 to 174.13 µg/kg. The average daily human intake of AFB1 from UPP oil was 3.14 ng/kg·bw/day; therefore, the incidence of liver cancer, caused by intake of 1 ng/kg·bw/day AFB1, was estimated to be 5.32 cases out of every 100,000 persons per year. Meanwhile, Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and AFB1 exposure exerted a synergistic effect to cause liver dysfunction. In addition, the triglycerides (TG) abnormal rate was statistically significant when using AFB1 to estimate daily intake (EDI) quartile spacing grouping (p = 0.011). In conclusion, high aflatoxin exposure may exacerbate the harmful effects of HBV infection on liver function. Contamination of UPP oil with aflatoxins in Guangdong urgently requires more attention, and public health management of the consumer population is urgently required.
