OBJECTIVE: To focus on the imaging features of liposclerosing myxofibrous tumor (LSMFT) and diagnostic challenges to enhance clinical recognition and differential diagnosis accuracy. METHODS: Retrospective analysis was conducted on the imaging and pathological data from 21 cases diagnosed with LSMFT between January 2014 and November 2022, including 14 males and 7 females (aged from 21 to 73 years; the course of disease ranged from 4 to 48 months). Patient demographics, clinical presentations, and imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, and MRI were reviewed. Pathological findings were correlated with imaging features to delineate diagnostic criteria and identify causes of misdiagnosis. RESULTS: All 21 patients represented primary lesions, located in 14 bilateral femurs [9 on the right and 5 on the left; 12 proximal femurs (intertrochanteric and peripheral) and 2 distal femurs], 2 proximal tibia, 2 proximal humerus, 1 proximal radius, and 1 ilium and 1 calcaneus. On X-ray and CT, all lesions showed cartographical or quasi-circular osteolytic destruction with distinct and sclerotic margins, continuous bone cortex, absence of periosteal reaction and surrounding soft tissue mass. Calcification, bone ridge and varying degrees of fat components were observed in 16 lesions, displaying mixed density;5 lesions showed ground-glass density with minimal bone ridge. On MRI, the signal intensity of the lesion was heterogeneous. T1-weighted imaging showed iso-to slightly high signal intensity, while T2-weighted imaging demonstrated unevenly high signal intensity. Fat-suppressed sequences depicted significantly elevated signal intensity within lesions, with post-contrast enhancement showing uneven patterns. 5 Cases were initially misdiagnosed as fibrous dysplasia. CONCLUSION: LSMFT is an uncommon benign bone tumor, typically localized in the proximal femur but occasionally found in other skeletal sites. Understanding its distinct imaging characteristics is crucial for accurate diagnosis. Typical cases exhibit identifiable imaging patterns, whereas atypical presentations may lead to misdiagnosis as fibrous dysplasia.

The study uses Sequential Window Acquisition of All Theoretical Fragment Ion Mass Spectra (SWATH)-MS in conjunction with secretome proteomics to identify key proteins that Pseudomonas aeruginosa secretes against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Variations in the inhibition zones indicated differences in strain resistance. Multivariate statistical methods were applied to filter the proteomic results, revealing five potential protein biomarkers, including Peptidase M23. Gene ontology (GO) analysis and sequence alignment supported their antibacterial activity. Thus, SWATH-MS provides a comprehensive understanding of the secretome of P. aeruginosa in its action against MRSA, guiding future antibacterial research.

Over the past decades, proteomics has become increasingly important and a heavily discussed topic. The identification of intact proteins remains a major focus in this field. While most intact proteins are analyzed using high-resolution mass spectrometry, identifying them through low-resolution mass spectrometry continues to pose challenges. In our study, we investigated the capability of identifying various intact proteins using collision-induced dissociation (CID) and electron transfer without dissociation (ETnoD). Using myoglobin as our test protein, stable product ions were generated with CID, and the identities of the product ions were identified with ETnoD. ETnoD uses a short activation time (AcT, 5 ms) to create sequential charge-reduced precursor ion (CRI). The charges of the fragments and their sequences were determined with corresponding CRI. The product ions can be selected for subsequent CID (termed CIDn) combined with ETnoD for further sequence identification and validation. We refer to this method as CIDn/ETnoD. The use of a multistage CID activation (CIDn) and ETnoD protocol has been applied to several intact proteins to obtain multiple sequence identifications.

Evidence that circular RNAs (circRNA) serve as protein template is accumulating. However, how the cap-independent translation is controlled remains largely uncharacterized. Here, we show that the presence of intron and thus splicing promote cap-independent translation. By acquiring the exon junction complex (EJC) after splicing, the interaction between circRNA and ribosomes was promoted, thereby facilitating translation. Prevention of splicing by treatment with spliceosome inhibitor or mutating splicing signal hindered cap-independent translation of circRNA. Moreover, EJC-tethering using Cas13 technology reconstituted EJC-dependent circRNA translation. Finally, the level of a coding circRNA from succinate dehydrogenase assembly factor 2 (circSDHAF2) was found to be elevated in the tumorous tissues from patients with colorectal cancer, and shown to be critical in tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer in both cell and murine models. These findings reveal that EJC-dependent control of circSDHAF2 translation is involved in the regulation of oncogenic pathways. IMPLICATIONS: EJC-mediated cap-independent translation of circRNA is implicated in the tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer.

Soy sauce is one of the significant seasonings in Asia but is often mislabeled in ingredients or substituted with geographical information. With no adequate methods to distinguish the bean sources and the origins of soy sauce, our study designed a seamless headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME/GC-MS) for analyzing unique volatile components of different soy sauces. Over 400 volatile flavor compounds were identified and the assistance of chemometric analysis successfully discriminated different bean sources (black bean and soybean) and producing regions (Taiwan and Japan). The chemometric models can also perfectly evaluate real samples together with adulterated samples. In brief, these soy sauce volatile signatures can solve the problem of authentication and assist the whole industry in preventing adulteration and producing countries' counterfeit.

Food adulteration, mislabeling, and fraud, are rising global issues. Therefore, a number of precise and reliable analytical instruments and approaches have been proposed to ensure the authenticity and accurate labeling of food and food products by confirming that the constituents of foodstuffs are of the kind and quality claimed by the seller and manufacturer. Traditional techniques (e.g., genomics-based methods) are still in use; however, emerging approaches like mass spectrometry (MS)-based technologies are being actively developed to supplement or supersede current methods for authentication of a variety of food commodities and products. This review provides a critical assessment of recent advances in food authentication, including MS-based metabolomics, proteomics and other approaches.

BACKGROUND: Hematoma expansion is an independent predictor of patient outcome and mortality. The early diagnosis of hematoma expansion is crucial for selecting clinical treatment options. This study aims to explore the value of a deep learning algorithm for the prediction of hematoma expansion from non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) scan through external validation. METHODS: 102 NCCT images of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH) patients diagnosed in our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. The initial computed tomography (CT) scan images were evaluated by a commercial Artificial Intelligence (AI) software using deep learning algorithm and radiologists respectively to predict hematoma expansion and the corresponding sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the two groups were calculated and compared. Comparisons were also conducted among gold standard hematoma expansion diagnosis time, AI software diagnosis time and doctors' reading time. RESULTS: Among 102 HICH patients, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of hematoma expansion prediction in the AI group were higher than those in the doctor group(80.0% vs 66.7%, 73.6% vs 58.3%, 75.5% vs 60.8%), with statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). The AI diagnosis time (2.8 ± 0.3 s) and the doctors' diagnosis time (11.7 ± 0.3 s) were both significantly shorter than the gold standard diagnosis time (14.5 ± 8.8 h) (p < 0.05), AI diagnosis time was significantly shorter than that of doctors (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Deep learning algorithm could effectively predict hematoma expansion at an early stage from the initial CT scan images of HICH patients after onset with high sensitivity and specificity and greatly shortened diagnosis time, which provides a new, accurate, easy-to-use and fast method for the early prediction of hematoma expansion.

Seafood substitutions is a global problem and come under the spotlight in recent years. In Taiwan, Greenland halibut is usually substituted for the cod because of its lower price. Nowadays, DNA technology is widely used for fish species identifications; however, it still has concern about the DNA of processed fishery products might be destroyed. This study was designed to develop a proteomic-based method for fish and fishery product authentication by using ultra performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS) with Sequential window acquisition of all theoretical fragment ion spectra (SWATH). The protein biomarkers from the meat of Alaska pollock, Atlantic cod, and Greenland halibut were identified and validated for species authentication of cod and corresponding fishery products, which might prevent consumer substitutions and fish product mislabeling. Besides, the E. coli proteins can be measured from existing SWATH-MS data though retrospective analysis successfully, it might present the quality of fish meat.

Duodenal microbiota may have impact in Functional Dyspepsia. The aim of this study was to explore the difference of microbiota on duodenal mucosa between patients with Functional Dyspepsia and normal subjects. The duodenal mucosa of the subjects were collected under upper gastrointestinal endoscope and the contents of the descending duodenal intestine were extracted with cell brushes in 20 patients with Functional Dyspepsia and 5 healthy subjects. The microbiome on duodenal was studied by 16SrDNA gene sequencing. The differences of duodenal flora were analyzed and compared by LEfSe, FAPROTAX, SPSS and other software. There were significant differences in ACE index, shannon index and observedspecies index between patients with functional dyspepsia and healthy people (P < 0.05). PCoA analysis of the structure of bacteria between two groups found that the duodenal microbiome showed a separate trend. In further study, Amova analysis showed a significant difference (P < 0.05). We found that the there are obvious differences in the composition of duodenal microbiome in functional dyspepsia and healthy people. At the genus level, there were significant differences in Alloprevotella, Peptostreptococcus,Sutterella, Corynebacteriurn,Catonella, Faecalibacterium,Staphylococcus,Eubacteriumnodatumgro-up, Lachnoclostridiurn and Lautropia between the two groups (P < 0.05). The prediction results of Microflora function from FAPROTAX showed that the urea decomposing (ureolysis) and fumaric acid respiratory (fumaraterespiration) function of duodenal bacteria in patients with functional dyspepsia were significantly different from those in healthy people (P < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant difference in mucosal microflora of duodenum between patients with functional dyspepsia and healthy groups. It includes greater microflora diversity, different microflora structure, different microflora composition, specific taxa and specific microbiome function. The disorder of duodenal microecology may be the formation mechanism of functional dyspepsia.

BACKGROUND: Abnormal expression patterns of mucin 2 (MUC2) have been reported in a variety of malignant tumors and precancerous lesions. Reduced MUC2 expression in the intestinal mucosa, caused by various pathogenic factors, is related to mechanical dysfunction of the intestinal mucosa barrier and increased intestinal mucosal permeability. However, the relationship between MUC2 and the intestinal mucosal barrier in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) is not clear. AIM: To explore the relationship between MUC2 and intestinal mucosal barrier by characterizing the multiple expression patterns of MUC2 in CRC. METHODS: Immunohistochemical staining was performed on intestinal tissue specimens from 100 CRC patients, including both cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays were performed on preoperative sera from 66 CRC patients and 20 normal sera to detect the serum levels of MUC2, diamine oxide (DAO), and D-lactate (D-LAC). The relationship between MUC2 expression and clinical parameters was calculated by the χ 2 test or Fisher's exact test. Prognostic value of MUC2 was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier curve and log-rank tests. RESULTS: Immunohistochemical staining of 100 CRC tissues showed that the expression of MUC2 in cancer tissues was lower than that in normal tissues (54% vs 79%, P < 0.05), and it was correlated with tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage and lymph node metastasis in CRC patients (P < 0.05). However, the serum level of MUC2 in CRC patients was higher than that in normal controls, and was positively associated with serum levels of human DAO (χ 2 = 3.957, P < 0.05) and D-LAC (χ 2 = 7.236, P < 0.05), which are the biomarkers of the functional status of the intestinal mucosal barrier. And the serum level of MUC2 was correlated with TNM stage, tumor type, and distant metastasis in CRC patients (P < 0.05). Kaplan-Meier curves showed that decreased MUC2 expression in CRC tissues predicted a poor survival. CONCLUSION: MUC2 in tissues may play a protective role by participating in the intestinal mucosal barrier and can be used as an indicator to evaluate the prognosis of CRC patients.

Honey is widely consumed by humans, due to its multiple applications as a food constituent and its therapeutic effects. This study reports on the discrimination of honey products from different geographical and botanical sources, as well as honey products containing distinct forms of syrup used in honey adulteration. Sequential window acquisition of all theoretical fragment ion spectra mass spectrometry (SWATH-MS)-based proteomic analysis combined with chemometrics was successfully applied in identifying characteristic proteins that can be used as biomarkers of the original source of honey. Honey samples from different producing regions (Tainan, Changhua, and Taichung), countries (Taiwan and Thailand), and distinct botanical sources (longan and litchi) were clearly distinguished by the developed orthogonal projections to latent structures discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) model with good fitness and prediction ability. Furthermore, we successfully discriminated the adulteration of honey with syrup in different proportions (even with honey content as low as 20%) with this proteomic SWATH-MS platform.

BACKGROUND: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a gastrointestinal disease caused by imbalanced gastrointestinal function. Traditional treatments are deemed to be limited, and new therapeutic drugs are required. New study suggested that duodenal low-grade inflammation and increased intestinal permeability play an important role in the pathogenesis of FD. Previous studies have shown that polysaccharides containing D-galacturonic acid (GA) could modulate intestinal immune activity in vitro and in animal models. However, the ability of GA monomer to improve intestinal mucosal permeability and inflammation in FD has not been clearly elucidated. METHODS: A FD rat model was established using iodoacetamide (IA). FD Rats were administrated different doses of GA. Subsequently, the body weight and behavioral sensitivity of the rats were measured and evaluated; the permeability of the intestinal barrier was measured by determining D-lactose, lactulose/mannitol ratio (LMR), and permeability-related genes [desmocollin-2 (DSC2), TJP1, and OCLN] in FD rats. Also, inflammatory cells [cluster of differentiation (CD)3+ cells and mast cells] were assessed by immunohistochemistry, and the levels of immune-related factors, such as the Toll-like receptor-nuclear factor kappa B (TLR/NF-κB) pathway, were monitored by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) or western blot assays. RESULTS: Our results suggested that GA could markedly increase the body weight and attenuate the behavioral sensitivity of FD rats. Moreover, GA also has an obvious ameliorating effect on the intestinal mucosal permeability and inflammatory response of FD rats. Furthermore, we found that GA could markedly downregulate TLR2, TLR4, and NF-κB in FD rats. CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that GA could significantly attenuate the intestinal mucosal permeability and inflammation FD rats. The effect of GA was partially mediated by the TLR/NF-κB signaling pathway.

A strategy was proposed to analyze bovine milk oligosaccharides using p-aminobenzoic ethyl ester (ABEE) closed-ring labeling and C18 capillary liquid chromatography negative ion electrospray tandem mass spectrometry. Linkage specific fragment ions were used to identify oligosaccharide isomers. By constructing the mass chromatograms using linkage specific fragment ions, isomers were differentiated based on m/z values as well as temporal separation provided by liquid chromatography. In addition to disialyllactose and the single isomer lacto-N-neohexaose, four pairs of linkage isomers including 3'/6'-sialyllactose (3'/6'-SL), 3'/6'-sialyllactosamine (3'/6'-SLN), 3'/6'-sialylgalactosyl-lactose (3'/6'-SGL), and lacto-N-tetraose/lacto-N-neotetraose (LNT/LNnT) in bovine milk were investigated. Variations of bovine milk oligosaccharides in a lactation period of 72 h after calving were studied. Sialylated oligosaccharide was found to be distinctively more abundant in milk of the first 24 h, decreasing in successive milkings. For the first time, the variation of lacto-N-tetraose in bovine milk was reported.

RATIONALE: Oriental Beauty, a type of oolong tea native to Taiwan, is highly prized by connoisseurs for its unique fruity aroma and sweet taste. Leaves of Oriental Beauty vary in appearance, aroma, and taste, depending on the degree of tea green leafhopper (Jacobiasca formosana) infestation. In this study, the aim is to investigate the differential expression of proteins in leaves with low, medium, and high degrees of leafhopper infestation. METHODS: Proteomic techniques 2DE (two-dimensional electrophoresis) and nanoscale liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) were used to investigate the differential expression of proteins in tea leaves with different degrees of leafhopper infestation. RESULTS: A total of 89 proteins were found to exhibit significant differences in expression. In a gene ontology analysis, most of these proteins participated in biosynthesis, carbohydrate metabolism, transport, responses to stress, and amino acid metabolism. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicated that the unique aroma and taste of the leaves might be influenced by their protein expression profiles, as well as related factors such as defensive responses to tea green leafhopper saliva.

Isoflavones are the major bioactive components in soybeans. Sequential window acquisition of all theoretical fragment ions (SWATH) is a kind of data-independent acquisition (DIA), such that all fragments of each precursor will be preserved in a SWATH-Mass Spectrometry (SWATH-MS) run. In this study, a high-throughput SWATH-MS method for the determination of 12 isoflavones in soybeans was established. Furthermore, amino acids, saponins can be semi-quantitated from the same SWATH-MS data. Combination of targeted quantification and untargeted profiling with SWATH, all bioactive compounds were analyzed within 5 min in 10 min run time, and the method had good linear regression with r2 > 0.99. The precisions (RSD %) of the intra-day and inter-day analyses ranged from 2.11% to 18.7%, and the accuracies (RE%) ranged from -14.39% to 17.48%. The matrix effect ranged from 88.66% to 114.82%. Moreover, 7 varieties of soybeans were analyzed and compared with this robust screening method.

Objective: The study aims to detect the potential relationship between iron deposition and the function of the glymphatic system in the normal aging brain. Methods: We recruited 213 healthy participants. We evaluated the function of the glymphatic system using the index for diffusivity along the perivascular space (ALPS-index), assessed iron deposition on quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), and analyzed their relationship. Results: The mean age of participants was 60.1 ± 7.3, and 107 (50.2%) were female. The mean ALPS-index was 1.4 ± 0.2. The QSM values of the caudate nucleus, putamen, globus pallidus, thalamus, red nucleus, substantia nigra, and dentate nucleus were all related to the ALPS-index (all P < 0.001). Conclusions: The main finding of the current study is that the regional brain iron deposition was related to the function of the glymphatic system. Advances in knowledge: We first evaluated the relationship between deposition of brain iron and the dysfunction of the glymphatic system.

BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been demonstrated to be associated with an increase of oxidative stress. However, whether circulating malondialdehyde (MDA), a widely used biomarker of oxidative stress, could be reduced by the treatment of OSA by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is debated. The present meta-analysis was performed to determine the effect of CPAP treatment on circulating MDA among patients with OSA. METHODS: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science was performed for literature covering the period between 1967 and August 2019. Standardized mean difference (SMD) was calculated to estimate the treatment effects of pre- and post-CPAP therapy. RESULTS: A total of 10 studies with 220 patients were included in this meta-analysis. A significant decrease in circulating MDA was observed after CPAP treatment (SMD = 1.164, 95% CI = 0.443 to 1.885, z = 3.16, p = 0.002) in OSA patients. Subgroup analyses revealed that CPAP therapy was associated with a significant decrease of circulating MDA in elder (SMD = 1.629, 95% CI = 0.265 to 2.994, z = 2.34, p = 0.019), more obese patients (SMD = 0.954, 95% CI = 0.435 to 1.473, z = 3.61, p = 0.000), more severe OSA patients (SMD = 0.879, 95% CI = 0.421 to 1.336, z = 3.76, p = 0.000), patients with therapeutic duration ≥ 3 months (SMD = 1.867, 95% CI = 0.563 to 3.172, z = 2.80, p = 0.005), and patients with good compliance (SMD = 1.004, 95% CI = 0.703 to 1.305, z = 6.54, p = 0.000). CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis suggested that CPAP therapy exerted significant lowering effects on circulating MDA, especially in elder, more obese, and more severe OSA patients and patients with good compliance as well as longer duration of CPAP application.

Glutamatergic dysregulation has served as one common pathophysiology of major depressive disorder (MDD) and a promising target for treatment intervention. Previous studies implicate neurotransmission via metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) and Homer1 in stress-induced anhedonia, but the mechanisms have not been well elucidated. In the present study, we used two different animal models of depression, chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) and chronic restraint stress (CRS), to investigate the expression of Homer1 isoforms and functional interaction with mGluRs. We found that chronic stress selectively upregulated the expression of Homer1b/c in the hippocampus, whereas the level of Homer1a was unchanged. Additionally, there was a significant negative correlation between the levels of Homer1-mGluR5 signaling and depressive-like behaviors. Both application of paired-pulse low-frequency stimulation (PP-LFS) and the selective group 1 mGluRs agonist (RS)-3,5-dihydroxyphenylglycine (DHPG) significantly enhanced mGluR-dependent long-term depression (LTD) at CA3-CA1 pyramidal cell synapses in slices from susceptible mice, whereas there was no change in NMDAR-dependent LTD induced by LFS. Furthermore, these effects were associated with the internalization of surface AMPARs in hippocampal pyramidal neurons, including reduced the expression of AMPARs and amplitude of AMPARs-mediated mEPSC. Finally, we found that chronic stress activated the KR-like ER kinase-eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (PERK-eIF2α) signaling pathway, subsequently phosphorylated cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) at the S129 and reduced the BDNF level, eventually leading to the impairment of synaptic transmission and depressive-like behaviors. Therefore, our study suggests that PERK-eIF2α acts as a critical target downstream of Homer1-mGluR5 complex to mediate chronic stress-induced depressive-like behaviors, and highlights them as a potential target for the treatment of mood disorder.

Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and investigations on novel targets are imperative. MiR-98 has been reported to act as a tumor suppressor in several cancers. To evaluate miR-98 as a novel anticancer molecule for CRC, examinations to validate whether miR-98 conferred an inhibiting effect on proliferation, migration, and invasion were performed. The microarray-based gene expression profiling involving CRC was used to identify the differentially expressed genes. The potential relationship between miR-98 and CLDN1 was analyzed by cell experimentation. Then, the CRC cells were transfected with miR-98 mimic or miR-98 inhibitor to investigate the potential effect of miR-98 overexpression and depletion on CRC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis. The expressions of CLDN1, Bcl-2 associated protein x (Bax), runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3), B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), C-myc, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) were determined. The downregulated miR-98 along with an upregulated CLDN1 was observed in CRC, in which miR-98 could target to regulate CLDN1. The overexpression of miR-98 or silencing of CLDN1 was shown to increase the expression of Bax and RUNX3 along with promoted cell apoptosis and arrested cells in G1 phase, while decreasing the expression of CLDN1, Bcl-2, C-myc, and PCNA with suppressed proliferation, migration, and invasion. Collectively, the current study supports the notion that miR-98 plays an inhibitory role in human CRC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and act as a contributor for cell apoptosis by downregulating CLDN1. The current study highlights a potential future strategy to help prevent the development of CRC.

OBJECTIVE: We sought to assess the use of surgical treatment, the effect of postoperative adjuvant therapy, and the prognostic factors for survival of patients with primary spinal peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors (pPNETs). PATIENTS AND METHODS: The clinical data of 24 patients, who had been surgically treated from April 2003 to February 2018 and in whom immunohistochemical staining results had confirmed the diagnosis of primary spinal pPNETs, were retrospectively analyzed. To analyze the factors related to prognosis, the Kaplan-Meier method was used for univariate analysis, the log-rank method was used to test the significance of difference, and multivariate analysis was performed using Cox regression. RESULTS: The overall 1-year, 2-year, and 5-year survival rates were 73.2%, 48.1%, and 12.0%, respectively. The median survival time (MST) of all patients was 21 months. Univariate analysis showed that the extent of tumor resection, adjuvant radiotherapy, and chemotherapy were the factors influencing patient prognosis after surgery (all P < 0.05); sex, age, tumor location, and preoperative Karnofsky performance scale (KPS) scores were not the influential factors for prognosis of patients after surgery (all P > 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that gross total resection (GTR) of tumors and adjuvant radiotherapy were independent factors influencing the prognosis of patients with pPNETs (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Primary spinal pPNETs are extremely rare, and they have a poor prognosis. Microsurgical GTR of the tumor is the preferred method of treatment. Radiotherapy plays an important role in improving the prognosis of patients with pPNETs. GTR combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy may be the best treatment modality.
