RESUMO

PURPOSE: Accurate identification of primary breast cancer and axillary positive-node response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is important for determining appropriate surgery strategies. We aimed to develop combining models based on breast multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging and clinicopathologic characteristics for predicting therapeutic response of primary tumor and axillary positive-node prior to treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 268 breast cancer patients who completed NAC and underwent surgery were enrolled. Radiomics features and clinicopathologic characteristics were analyzed through the analysis of variance and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator algorithm. Finally, 24 and 28 optimal features were selected to construct machine learning models based on 6 algorithms for predicting each clinical outcome, respectively. The diagnostic performances of models were evaluated in the testing set by the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. RESULTS: Of the 268 patients, 94 (35.1 %) achieved breast cancer pathological complete response (bpCR) and of the 240 patients with clinical positive-node, 120 (50.0 %) achieved axillary lymph node pathological complete response (apCR). The multi-layer perception (MLP) algorithm yielded the best diagnostic performances in predicting apCR with an AUC of 0.825 (95 % CI, 0.764-0.886) and an accuracy of 77.1 %. And MLP also outperformed other models in predicting bpCR with an AUC of 0.852 (95 % CI, 0.798-0.906) and an accuracy of 81.3 %. CONCLUSIONS: Our study established non-invasive combining models to predict the therapeutic response of primary breast cancer and axillary positive-node prior to NAC, which may help to modify preoperative treatment and determine post-NAC surgery strategy.

Background: The CD1A gene, a key component of the human immune system and part of the CD1 family, plays a crucial role in presenting lipid antigens to T cells. Abnormal CD1A expression is associated with various immune-related diseases and tumors. However, the biological function of CD1A in COAD is unclear. Methods: Multiple databases were systematically employed to conduct an analysis of CD1A expression in pan-cancer and COAD, along with its clinical-pathological features. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) functional enrichment analyses of CD1A were performed using the 'clusterProfiler' package. The Protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis of CD1A was used the STRING database. Additionally, TIMER and ssGSEA tools were used to explore the relationship between CD1A expression in COAD and immune cell infiltration. The study also investigated the association between CD1A expression and N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification genes in the TCGA COAD cohort and constructed a CD1A-centric competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network. Results: CD1A displays varying expression levels in various tumors, including COAD, and is closely linked to clinical-pathological characteristics. GO analysis suggests that CD1A plays a role in important processes like antigen processing and presentation, leukocyte-mediated immunity, and lymphocyte-mediated immunity. KEGG analysis identifies CD1A's involvement in key pathways such as the Chemokine signaling pathway and Cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction. PPI analysis highlights CD1A's interactions with CD207, CD1C, CD1E, FOXP3, and ITGB2. ssGSEA analysis indicates a significant relationship between CD1A expression and the infiltration of various immune cells in COAD. Significant associations were found between CD1A and m6A modification genes in COAD. Furthermore, a CD1A-centered ceRNA regulatory network has been constructed. Conclusion: CD1A emerges as a potential biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of COAD, showing a strong association with tumor immune infiltration, m6A modification, and the ceRNA network.

With high prevalence and substantial mortality, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are significant public health concerns. Utilizing a large, population-based dataset from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, our study probes the relationship between COPD prevalence and hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, as measured by Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography. We analyzed data from 693 individuals with COPD and 7229 without. Through weighted multivariate logistic regression analysis, a restricted cubic spline curve, and threshold effect analysis, we investigated the correlation between the severity of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis and the presence of COPD. Our findings revealed a positive correlation between the controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) and COPD prevalence [OR = 1.03 (95% CI 1.01, 1.05)], even after multivariate adjustment. Furthermore, we observed a U-shaped association between CAP and COPD, where the inflection point, CAP value of 264.85 dB/m, corresponded to the lowest COPD prevalence. Our study emphasizes a substantial and complex link between hepatic steatosis and COPD. These findings urge healthcare professionals to factor liver health into COPD management and prompt further exploration into the underlying mechanisms. This could pave the way for the development of improved prevention and treatment strategies.

Background: An increasing corpus of evidence has identified the involvement of N-acetyltransferase 1 (NAT1), a member of the NAT family, in the progression of various cancers. However, the specific function of NAT1 in colon cancer (COAD) remains elusive. This study aims to decip her the role of NAT1 in COAD and its associated mechanisms. Methods: The Tumor Immunity Evaluation Resource (TIMER), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases were employed to assess the NAT1 expression level in COAD. The differential expression between COAD and normal colon tissue was further validated using quantitative real-time reverse-transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) and Western blot (WB) analyses. Additionally, survival analysis of NAT1 in COAD was carried out using the PrognoScan database and TCGA dataset. The functions of NAT1 were explored through gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and immuno-infiltration analysis. Results: There was a significant reduction in NAT1 expression in COAD samples compared to normal tissue. Notably, low NAT1 expression in COAD correlated significantly with various clinical parameters such as tumor stage (T stage, N stage, M stage, pathologic stage), primary therapy outcome, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level, and lymphatic invasion. The downregulation of NAT1 was also strongly linked with poor outcomes in overall survival (OS), progression-free interval (PFI), and disease-specific survival (DSS). Cox regression analysis highlighted NAT1 as an independent prognostic indicator for overall survival in COAD patients. GSEA results revealed NAT1's involvement in multiple pathways, including the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, olfactory transduction, olfactory signaling, extracellular matrix receptor interaction, calcium signaling, and focal adhesion pathways. Furthermore, NAT1 expression was found to significantly correlate with infiltration levels of various immune cells. Conclusion: The findings reveal NAT1's potential as a valuable prognostic biomarker for COAD. Moreover, its associated mechanisms offer insights that might pave the way for therapeutic interventions for COAD patients.

OBJECTIVE: Accurate prediction of recurrence risk after resction in patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) may help to individualize therapy strategies. This study aimed to develop machine learning models based on preoperative clinical factors and multiparameter Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) characteristics to predict the 1-year recurrence after HCC resection. METHODS: Eighty-two patients with single HCC who underwent surgery were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent preoperative gadoxetic acidenhanced MRI examination. Preoperative clinical factors and MRI characteristics were collected for feature selection. Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) was applied to select the optimal features for predicting postoperative 1-year recurrence of HCC. Four machine learning algorithms, Multilayer Perception (MLP), random forest, support vector machine, and k-nearest neighbor, were used to construct the predictive models based on the selected features. A Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve was used to assess the performance of each model. RESULTS: Among the enrolled patients, 32 patients experienced recurrences within one year, while 50 did not. Tumor size, peritumoral hypointensity, decreasing ratio of liver parenchyma T1 value (ΔT1), and α-fetoprotein (AFP) levels were selected by using LASSO to develop the machine learning models. The area under the curve (AUC) of each model exceeded 0.72. Among the models, the MLP model showed the best performance with an AUC, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 0.813, 0.742, 0.570, and 0.853, respectively. CONCLUSION: Machine learning models can accurately predict postoperative 1-year recurrence in patients with HCC, which may help to provide individualized treatment.

Single-component organic solar cells (SCOSCs) with covalently bonding donor and acceptor are becoming increasingly attractive because of their superior stability over traditional multicomponent blend organic solar cells (OSCs). Nevertheless, the efficiency of SCOSCs is far behind the state-of-the-art multicomponent OSCs. Herein, by combination of the advantages of three-component and single-component devices, this work reports an innovative three-in-one strategy to boost the performance of SCOSCs. In this three-in-one strategy, three independent components (PM6, D18, and PYIT) are covalently linked together to create a new single-component active layer based on ternary conjugated block copolymer (TCBC) PM6-D18-b-PYIT by a facile polymerization. Precisely manipulating the component ratios in the polymer chains of PM6-D18-b-PYIT is able to broaden light utilization, promote charge dynamics, optimize, and stabilize film morphology, contributing to the simultaneously enhanced efficiency and stability of the SCOSCs. Ultimately, the PM6-D18-b-PYIT-based device exhibits a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.89%, which is the highest efficiency of the reported SCOSCs. Thanks to the aggregation restriction of each component and chain entanglement in the three-in-one system, the PM6-D18-b-PYIT-based SCOSC displays significantly higher stability than the corresponding two-component (PM6-D18:PYIT) and three-component (PM6:D18:PYIT). These results demonstrate that the three-in-one strategy is facile and promising for developing SCOSCs with superior efficiency and stability.

Acceptor-only oligomers are developed as guest components to construct oligomer-assisted active layers for high performance organic solar cells. Due to the high planarity and structural similarity with the host polymer donor, BDD-based acceptor-only oligomers formed an alloy phase with PM6 and optimized the phase morphology effectively, achieving a stable device displaying 18% efficiency.

Bone development and lung function are integral to child and adolescent health. Both influence an individual's overall well-being and potentially affect long-term health. Utilizing a comprehensive dataset from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, this study aims to elucidate the relationship between lung function and bone mineral density (BMD) in a representative sample of children and adolescents. The analysis covered 3410 participants aged 8 to 19 years. We employed weighted multivariate linear regression and restricted cubic spline curve visualizations to explore the intricate association between lung function metrics, particularly first-second expiratory volume 1 second/forced vital capacity ratio, and lumbar BMD. Our data indicated a positive association between lung function and lumbar BMD in children and adolescents. Specifically, higher lung function metrics were linked with increased lumbar BMD. This association was more pronounced in younger participants or those with a lower body mass index. A significant positive relationship exists between lung function and BMD in the pediatric population. Recognizing this association is crucial for holistic health strategies for children and adolescents. This study underscores the need for integrated health monitoring during formative years, which can influence health trajectories as these individuals transition to adulthood.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) represents a prevalent form of cancer, with low early diagnosis rates and high mortality rates, posing a global health challenge. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) assume a crucial role within the tumor immune microenvironment (TME) of LUAD. Here, a collection of 97 HSP-related genes (HSPGs) was assembled based on prior literature reports, of which 36 HSPGs were differentially expressed in LUAD. In The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort, we constructed a prognostic model for risk stratification and prognosis prediction by integrating 13 HSPGs. In addition, the prognostic significance and predictive efficacy of the HSP-related riskscore were examined and validated in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) cohort. To facilitate the clinical use of this riskscore, we also established a nomogram scale by verifying its effectiveness through different methods. In light of these outcomes, we concluded a significant correlation between HSPs and TME in LUAD, and the riskscore can be a reliable prognostic indicator. Furthermore, this study evaluated the differences in immunophenoscore, tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion score, and sensitivity to several common chemotherapy drugs among LUAD individuals in different risk groups, which may aid in clinical decision-making for immune therapy and chemotherapy in LUAD individuals.

Single-component organic solar cells (SCOSCs) based on conjugated block copolymers (CBCs) by covalently bonding a polymer donor and polymer acceptor become more and more appealing due to the formation of a favorable and stable morphology. Unfortunately, a deep understanding of the effect of the assembly behavior caused by the sequence structure of CBCs on the device performance is still missing. Herein, from the aspect of manipulating the sequence length and distribution regularity of CBCs, we synthesized a series of new CBCs, namely D18(20)-b-PYIT, D18(40)-b-PYIT and D18(60)-b-PYIT by two-pot polymerization, and D18(40)-b-PYIT(r) by traditional one-pot method. It is observed that precise manipulation of sequence length and distribution regularity of the polymer blocks fine-tunes the self-assembly of the CBCs, optimizes film morphology, improves optoelectronic properties, and reduces energy loss, leading to simultaneously improved efficiency and stability. Among these CBCs, the D18(40)-b-PYIT-based device achieves a high efficiency of 13.4 % with enhanced stability, which is an outstanding performance among SCOSCs. Importantly, the regular sequence distribution and suitable sequence length of the CBCs enable a facile film-forming process of the printed device. For the first time, the blade-coated large-area rigid/flexible SCOSCs are fabricated, delivering an impressive efficiency of 11.62 %/10.73 %, much higher than their corresponding binary devices.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of chromosome anomalies in different types of congenital gastrointestinal obstruction and assess pregnancy outcomes of fetuses with congenital gastrointestinal obstruction. METHODS: A total of 64 cases with gastrointestinal obstruction between January 2014 and December 2020 were enrolled in this study. They were divided into three groups according to sonographic images. Group A: isolated upper gastrointestinal obstruction; Group B: isolated lower gastrointestinal obstruction; Group C: non-isolated gastrointestinal obstruction. The rate of chromosome anomalies in different groups was calculated. Pregnant women with amniocentesis were followed up by medical records and telephone. The follow-up included pregnancy outcomes and development of the live born infants. RESULT: From January 2014 to December 2020, there were 64 fetus with congenital gastrointestinal obstruction underwent chromosome microarray analysis(CMA), the overall detection rate of CMA testing was 14.1%(9/64). The detection rate of Group A, B and C were 16.2%, 0 and 25.0% respectively. 9 fetuses with abnormal CMA results were all terminated. Among 55 fetuses with normal chromosomes, 10(18.2%) fetuses were not found to have any gastrointestinal obstruction after birth. 17(30.9%) fetuses were diagnosed with gastrointestinal obstruction and underwent surgical treatment after birth, one of which had lower gastrointestinal obstruction combined with biliary obstruction and died due to liver cirrhosis. 11(20.0%) pregnancy were terminated due to multiple abnormalities. 5(9.1%) fetuses were intrauterine death. 3(5.5%) fetuses were neonatal deaths. 9(16.4%) fetuses were lost to follow-up. CONCLUSION: It is crucial to understand whether the gastrointestinal tract abnormality is isolated or associated to other findings. The risk of chromosomal abnormalities in fetuses with isolated lower gastrointestinal obstruction is lower than upper gastrointestinal obstruction. While genetic abnormalities excluded, a promising prognosis is expected for fetuses with congenital gastrointestinal obstruction.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the prognosis of fetuses identified with de novo variants of unknown significance (VOUS) by chromosome microarray analysis (CMA). METHODS: A total of 6 826 fetuses who underwent prenatal CMA detection at the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of Drum Tower Hospital from July 2017 to December 2021 were selected as the study subjects. The results of prenatal diagnosis, and outcome of fetuses identified with VOUS of de novo origin were followed up. RESULTS: Among the 6 826 fetuses, 506 have carried VOUS, of which 237 were detected for the parent-of-origin and 24 were found to be de novo. Among the latters, 20 were followed up for 4 to 24 months. Four couples had opted elective abortion, 4 had developed clinical phenotypes after birth, and 12 were normal. CONCLUSION: Fetuses with VOUS should be continuously follow-up, in particular those carrying de novo VOUS, in order to clarify their clinical significance.

The root rot disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ginseng is one of the most destructive diseases of ginseng, an economically important herb. However, little is known about the pathogen's toxin biosynthesis or the molecular mechanisms regulating infection of ginseng. In this study we identified and functionally characterized the FoRSR1 gene that encodes a Ras-related (RSR) small GTPase homologous to yeast Rsr1 in F. oxysporum f. sp. ginseng. Disruption of FoRSR1 resulted in a significant reduction in mycelial dry weight in liquid cultures, although vegetative growth rate was not affected on culture plates. Notably, the Forsr1 mutant exhibited blunted and swollen hyphae with multi-nucleated compartments. It produced fewer and morphologically abnormal conidia and was defective in chlamydospore formation. In infection assays with ginseng roots, the Forsr1 mutant was significantly less virulent and caused only limited necrosis at the wounding sites. Deletion of FoRSR1 also affected pigmentation, autophagy, and production of fusaric acid. Furthermore, the expression of many candidate genes involved in secondary metabolism was significantly downregulated in the mutant, suggesting that FoRSR1 is also important for secondary metabolism. Overall, our results indicated that FoRSR1 plays important roles in conidiation, vacuolar morphology, secondary metabolism, and pathogenesis in F. oxysporum f. sp. ginseng.

This experiment was conducted in weaned piglets to determine the effects of exogenous protease to low soybean meal (SBM) diets on growth performance, diarrhea rate, nutrient digestibility, and intestinal morphology. Seventy-two Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire weaned barrows (21-day-old, 5.88 ± 0.95 kg) were randomly divided into four treatments with six replicates in each following a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of SBM levels (0 to 14 d, 9%, 7.5%; 15 to 42 d, 20%, 18.5%) and protease (0 or 150 mg/kg) for a 42-day trial. Fecal samples were collected on days 11 to 14 and 38 to 42 of the experiment, and serum, intestinal tissue, and chyme samples were taken at the end of the experiments. Adding protease in low SBM diets had a significant increase in ADG (p < 0.05) and a decrease in F/G (p < 0.05). Protease significantly reduced the diarrhea rate (p < 0.05). Low SBM level decreased the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of crude protein (CP) and ash (p < 0.05) but increased the ATTD of dry matter (DM), ash, organic matter (OM), and CP after the addition of protease (p < 0.05). The apparent ileal digestibility (AID) of aspartic acid (Asp), threonine (Thr), serine (Ser), alanine (Ala), lysine (Lys), and total amino acids (AAs) were significantly increased by protease supplementation (p < 0.05). Both the SBM-reduced and protease-added diets lead to lower albumin (ALB), albumin/globulin (A/G), and urea nitrogen (UREA) (p < 0.05), but greater globulin (GLOB) with low SBM diets (p < 0.05). The SBM-reduced and protease-added diets decreased the duodenum pH, respectively (p < 0.05). The protease increased the villus:crypt (V:C) in the duodenum and ileum, and ileal villus length (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the dietary supplementation of 150 mg/kg protease improved the intestinal health and performance of the weaned piglets and reversed the negative effect of a 1.5% SBM reduction in nutrient utilization, intestinal pH, and intestinal morphological parameters of weaned piglets.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) causes porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), a highly infectious disease, which has resulted in huge economic losses for the pig industry. To date, the pathogenic and immune response mechanism was not particularly clear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the pathogenic and immune responses of pigs infected with PEDV.In this study, 12 Min pigs were randomly selected without taking colostrum. At 3 days old, eight piglets were infected with 1 mL of PEDV solution (10 TCID50/ml), and the remaining four piglets were handled by 1 mL of 0.9% normal saline. Within the age of 7 days old, four piglets died and were considered as the death group. Correspondingly, four alive individuals were classified into the resistance group. Tissues of the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon, cecum, and rectum of piglets in the three groups were collected to measure the PEDV content. Additionally, the jejunum was used for the measurements and analyses of Hematoxylin-eosinstaining (HE), immunohistochemical sections, and transcriptomics. The phenotypes of Min piglets infected with PEDV showed that the viral copy numbers and jejunal damage had significant differences between the death and resistance groups. We also observed the transcriptome of the jejunum, and the differentially expressed (DE) analysis observed 6,585 DE protein-coding genes (PCGs), 3,188 DE long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and 350 DE microRNAs (miRNAs), which were mainly involved in immune response and metabolic pathways. Furthermore, the specific expressed molecules for each group were identified, and 97 PCGs,108 lncRNAs, and 51 miRNAs were included in the ceRNA-regulated networks. By weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and transcription factor (TF) prediction, 27 significant modules and 32 significant motifs (E-value < 0.05) annotated with 519 TFs were detected. Of these TFs, 53 were DE PCGs. In summary, the promising key PCGs, lncRNAs, and miRNAs related to the pathogenic and immunological response of pigs infected with PEDV were detected and provided new insights into the pathogenesis of PEDV.

Group B Streptococcus (GBS) colonizes the vaginal and rectal mucosa in a substantial proportion of healthy women, and GBS is a risk factor for GBS-associated adverse birth outcomes, such as bacterial infection, in neonates. Whether changes in the gut microbiota of GBS-infected pregnant women are associated with maternal complete blood cell count (CBC) and neonatal blood-gas analysis is unknown. To explore the relationship between the intestinal microecological composition of pregnant women and maternal blood routine and neonatal blood-gas analysis, we collected intestinal microecology samples of 26 pregnant women in clinic. They were divided into a positive group(GBS positive,GBS +) and a negative group (GBS negative, GBS-), with 12 in the positive group and 14 in the negative group. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to examine the gut microbiota profile from a fecal sample of pregnant women. CBC was carried out in enrolled pregnant women and umbilical arterial blood-gas analysis (UABGA)was conducted for analysis of intestinal microbiota composition, maternal blood routine and neonatal blood gas. Our results showed significant differences in the total number of organisms and microbial diversity of intestinal microbiota between healthy pregnant women and GBS-positive pregnant women. Particularly, abundances of Lentisphaerae, Chlorobi, Parcubacteria, Chloroflexi, Gemmatimonadetes, Acidobacteria, Fusobacteria and Fibrobacteres were only detected in participants with GBS colonization. Blood-gas analysis revealed that neonates born to mothers with GBS colonization had significantly higher fractions of carboxyhemoglobin (FCOHb) and lower methemoglobin (FMetHb), and abundances of OTU80, OTU122, OTU518 and OTU375 were associated with blood-gas indicators, such as carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, PCO2, PH and ABE. Interestingly, there were significant correlations between OTU levels and inflammatory indexes in pregnant women with GBS infection. Together, this study revealed for the first time that altered gut microbiota compositions are related to the inflammatory state in GBS-positive pregnant women and neonatal blood-gas indicators. GBS colonization may lead to significant changes in the gut microbiome, which might be involved in the pathogenesis of the maternal inflammatory state and neonatal blood gas abnormalities.

Cognitive impairment (CI) is one of the major clinical features of many neurodegenerative diseases. It can be aging-related or even appear in non-central nerve system (CNS) diseases. CI has a wide spectrum that ranges from the cognitive complaint with normal screening tests to mild CI and, at its end, dementia. Ginsenosides, agents extracted from a key Chinese herbal medicine (ginseng), show great promise as a new therapeutic option for treating CI. This review covered both clinical trials and preclinical studies to summarize the possible mechanisms of how ginsenosides affect CI in different diseases. It shows that ginsenosides can modulate signaling pathways associated with oxidative stress, apoptosis, inflammation, synaptic plasticity, and neurogenesis. The involved signaling pathways mainly include the PI3K/Akt, CREB/BDNF, Keap1/Nrf2 signaling, and NF-κB/NLRP3 inflammasome pathways. We hope to provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of CI for related diseases by ginsenosides.

Objective: To explore the efficiency of continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention for lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 130 patients who have lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy admitted to our hospital from 2019 to 2021 were recruited and assigned via different intervention methods (1 : 1) to receive either continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention (observation group) or routine nursing (control group). Outcome measures included psychological state, treatment compliance, quality of life, and nursing satisfaction. Results: Continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention was associated with significantly lower Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) scores versus routine care. The patients given combined nursing showed higher self-esteem scores versus those given routine care. Continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention also resulted in significantly lower cancer-related fatigue scores and higher treatment compliance versus routine care. Patients given continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention had a better quality of life and higher nursing satisfaction versus those given routine care (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Continuity of care plus whole process psychological intervention can effectively mitigate the negative emotions of lung cancer patients, alleviate cancer-related fatigue, improve treatment compliance, and boost the life quality of patients.

Due to its complex pathogenesis and lack of effective therapeutic methods, Alzheimer's disease (AD) has become a severe public health problem worldwide. Recent studies have discovered the function of central nervous system lymphatic drainage, which provides a new strategy for the treatment of AD. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been considered as a cure for AD for hundreds of years in China, and its effect on scavenging ß-amyloid protein in the brain of AD patients has been confirmed. In this review, the mechanism of central nervous system lymphatic drainage and the regulatory functions of CHM on correlation factors were briefly summarized. The advances in our understanding regarding the treatment of AD via regulating the central lymphatic system with CHM will promote the clinical application of CHM in AD patients and the discovery of new therapeutic drugs.

Many integral membrane proteins might act as indispensable coordinators in specific functional microdomains to maintain the normal operation of known receptors, such as Notch. Gm364 is a multi-pass transmembrane protein that has been screened as a potential female fertility factor. However, there have been no reports to date about its function in female fertility. Here, we found that global knockout of Gm364 decreased the numbers of primordial follicles and growing follicles, impaired oocyte quality as indicated by increased ROS and γ-H2AX, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, decreased oocyte maturation, and increased aneuploidy. Mechanistically, Gm364 directly binds and anchors MIB2, a ubiquitin ligase, on the membrane. Subsequently, membrane MIB2 ubiquitinates and activates DLL3. Next, the activated DLL3 binds and activates Notch2, which is subsequently cleaved within the cytoplasm to produce NICD2, the intracellular active domain of Notch2. Finally, NICD2 can directly activate AKT within the cytoplasm to regulate oocyte meiosis and quality.
