RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To systematically review the effectiveness of hypertonic dextrose prolotherapy (DPT) in plantar fasciopathy (PF) compared with other non-surgical treatments. DATA SOURCES: PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, Allied and Complementary Medicine Database, Global Health, Ovid Nursing Database, Dimensions, and WHO ICTRP were searched from inception to April 30th, 2022. STUDY SELECTION: Two independent reviewers selected randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the effectiveness of DPT in PF compared with non-surgical treatments. Outcomes included pain intensity, foot and ankle function, and plantar fascia thickness. DATA EXTRACTION: Two independent reviewers conducted data extraction. Risk of bias (RoB) assessment was conducted using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 (RoB 2) tool, and certainty of evidence was assessed with Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). DATA SYNTHESIS: Eight RCTs (n=469) met the inclusion criteria. Pooled results favored the use of DPT versus normal saline (NS) injections in reducing pain (weighted mean difference [WMD] -41.72; 95% confidence interval [CI] -62.36 to -21.08; P<.01; low certainty evidence) and improving function [WMD -39.04; 95% CI -55.24 to -22.85; P<.01; low certainty evidence] in the medium term. Pooled results also showed corticosteroid (CS) injections was superior to DPT in reducing pain in the short term [standardized mean difference 0.77; 95% CI 0.40 to 1.14; P<.01; moderate certainty evidence]. Overall RoB varied from "some concerns" to "high". The overall certainty of evidence presented ranges from very low to moderate based on the assessment with the GRADE approach. CONCLUSION: Low certainty evidence demonstrated that DPT was superior to NS injections in reducing pain and improving function in the medium term, but moderate certainty evidence showed that it was inferior to CS in reducing pain in the short term. Further high-quality RCTs with standard protocol, longer-term follow-up, and adequate sample size are needed to confirm its role in clinical practice.

RESUMO

This article reviews the research progress of rehabilitation treatment and nursing care of patients with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury, in order to provide reference for the rehabilitation treatment and nursing care of patients. We reviewed recent medical literature on patients with neurogenic bladder, focusing on neurogenic bladder caused by spinal cord injury. We analyzed 30 recent of publications in patients with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury, in addition to reviewing and evaluating the commonly used rehabilitation nursing methods for neurogenic bladder. Psychological counseling is a vital aspect which cannot be neglected in the process of neurogenic bladder rehabilitation. Hitherto, the commonly used drug and surgical treatments may have negatively impacted the mental health of patients in varying degrees. However, in clinical practice, applying intermittent catheterization in patients who have neurogenic bladder with spinal cord injury may help improve patients' life quality, mitigate psychological burden, and reduce negative emotions.

RESUMO

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a prevalent autoimmune disease that involves the overgrowth and inflammation of synovial tissue, leading to the degeneration and impairment of joints. In recent years, numerous studies have shown a close relationship between the hypoxic microenvironment in joints and the occurrence and progression of RA. The main cause of the pathological changes in RA is widely believed to be the abnormal expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) in joints. This paper describes and illustrates the structure and primary functions of HIF-1 and explains the main regulatory methods of HIF-1, including the PHDs/HIF-1 α/pVHL pathway, factor-inhibiting HIF (FIH), regulation of inflammatory cytokines, and the NF-κB pathway. Furthermore, this paper discusses the mechanism of HIF-1 and its impact on inflammation, angiogenesis, and cartilage destruction in greater detail. We summarize previous research findings on the mechanism of HIF-1 and propose new potential treatments for RA based on the pathogenesis of HIF-1 in RA.

RESUMO

Background Nonadherence to antihypertensive medications is the leading cause of poor blood pressure control and thereby cardiovascular diseases and mortality worldwide. Methods and Results We investigated the global epidemiology, regional differences, and trend of antihypertensive medication nonadherence via a systematic review and meta-analyses of data from 2010 to 2020. Multiple medical databases and clinicaltrials.gov were searched for articles. Observational studies reporting the proportion of patients with anti-hypertensive medication nonadherence were included. The proportion of nonadherence, publication year, year of first recruitment, country, and health outcomes attributable to antihypertensive medication nonadherence were extracted. Two reviewers screened abstracts and full texts, classified countries according to levels of income and locations, and extracted data. The Joanna Briggs Institute prevalence critical appraisal tool was used to rate the included studies. Prevalence meta-analyses were conducted using a fixed-effects model, and trends in prevalence were analyzed using meta-regression. The certainty of evidence concerning the effect of health consequences of nonadherence was rated according to Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations. A total of 161 studies were included. Subject to different detection methods, the global prevalence of anti-hypertensive medication nonadherence was 27% to 40%. Nonadherence was more prevalent in low- to middle-income countries than in high-income countries, and in non-Western countries than in Western countries. No significant trend in prevalence was detected between 2010 and 2020. Patients with antihypertensive medication nonadherence had suboptimal blood pressure control, complications from hypertension, all-cause hospitalization, and all-cause mortality. Conclusions While high prevalence of anti-hypertensive medication nonadherence was detected worldwide, higher prevalence was detected in low- to middle-income and non-Western countries. Interventions are urgently required, especially in these regions. Current evidence is limited by high heterogeneity. RESUMO

This study investigated the comparative effects of boiling, roasting, deep-frying methods on the content of nutritional and potentially harmful components in peanuts. After cooking, the contents of total reducing sugar, sucrose, unsaturated fatty acids and almost all individual amino acids were reduced. Free methionine disappeared after heating processing, whereas fructose, starch, cis-palmitoleic acid and saturated fatty acids were increased in processed samples. Micronutrients including flavonoids and phenolic reduced significantly after boiling process but increased after roasting process. Both of frying and roasting promoted the formation of potentially harmful components including HMF, acrylamide and furan. The overall compositional difference between samples were further displayed and identified by a combination application of HCA and PCA, which showed that the roasting and frying process had a significant impact on the nutritional composition of peanuts.

RESUMO

Segmental zoster paresis(SZP)is a rare complication in herpes zoster infection, with its symptoms often neglected due to the co-existence of pain. Here we reported a case of SZP.Also,we analyzed 42 Chinese SZP cases in literature, which revealed that the male to female ratio of SZP patients was 13∶8,and the median age of disease onset was 65 years. The most commonly affected region is upper limb. The diagnosis depends mainly on typical medical history and clinical symptoms.Although there is no definite therapy for SZP,the antiviral therapy is the most commonly used treatment, which achieved complete recovery in 78.6% of the patients and partial recovery in 14.3% of the patients.

RESUMO

The interactions between Orange G (OG) with three kinds of ionic liquid surfactants (C10mimBF4, C12mimBF4, C16mimBF4) and CTAB were studied with UV-Vis spectra and conductivity measurements. The systematic changes in UV-Vis spectra with an increase of carbon-chain length may be observed in presence of OG. They correspond to CMC of every system, respectively, and the CMCs of four systems have exhibit the decrease of CMCs compared to pure surfactant. The binding constants are calculated from the results of conductivity measurements in the order of C16mimBF4>CTAB>C12mimBF4>C10mimBF4. Furthermore, system behaviors presented significant association of complex formation and micelles formation, i.e. the change in UV-Vis spectra before and after the formation of micelles in mixed systems. In addition, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and 1H NMR analysis further confirmed that the complexes are formed by hydrogen bond and van der Waal force. These findings could provide scientific guidance for extraction and separation of dyes.

RESUMO

In iron and manganese-containing groundwater treatment for drinking water production, biological filter is an effective process to remove such pollutants. Until now the exact microbial mechanism of iron and manganese removal, especially coupled with other pollutants, such as ammonia, has not been clearly understood. To assess this issue, the performance of a full-scale biofilter located in Harbin, China was monitored over four months. Microbial populations in the biofilter were investigated using T-RFLP and clone library technique. Results suggested that Gallionella, Leptothrix, Nitrospira, Hyphomicrobium and Pseudomonas are dominant in the biofilter and play major roles in the removal of iron, manganese and ammonia. The spatial distribution of microbial populations along the depth of the biofilter demonstrated the stratification of the removal of iron, manganese and ammonia. Additionally, the absence of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria in the biofilter implicated that ammonia-oxidizing archaea might be responsible for the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite.
