RESUMO
This paper offers a perspective on nursing and lived experience responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. It charts health systems and mental health impacts with a particular focus on children and adolescents, older people and people availing of mental health services. Issues of moral distress and the nursing reaction are considered alongside psychological and social concerns which continue to rapidly evolve. The perspective of a person attending adult community mental health services and the experience of engaging with a mental health service remotely is provided. Matters of note for acute inpatient mental health nursing are highlighted and informed by the lived experience of a mental health nurse. The need for integrated health systems responses across nursing disciplines and the wider interdisciplinary team is elucidated.

Subcutaneous emphysema may result from pathological changes in the thorax or lung, as a result of localised infection with gas producing organisms, after abdominal procedures, or herald an intestinal perforation. The location and spread of extraperitoneal gas is determined by the anatomical barriers and fixed fascial layers surrounding the region of pathological change. The case highlights the extent of extraperitoneal gas after colonic perforation despite minimal clinical features and the importance of intra-abdominal causes of cervical subcutaneous emphysema.

Six cases of gastric herniation through the lacerated diaphragm are presented. Plain radiographs and single-contrast barium examinations demonstrate simple signs that either have not been previously published or need restatement. Some pitfalls that still delay diagnosis are also shown.

Five cases of intestinal herniation through the torn diaphragm are presented. Plain radiography, single-contrast examination, and ultrasonography show some simple features that either have not been previously published or need restatement. Some pitfalls that still delay diagnosis are also shown.

A special new lateral view of the chest, called the "Freddy Frog" view, was used in 50 children between the ages of 5 and 7 years. This resulted in optimal demonstration of the superior mediastinal and superior bony structures without superficial overlying soft tissues and can replace the separate lateral views of the neck and chest in cases of stridor.
