RESUMO

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a transformative advancement in the endoscopic management of superficial gastrointestinal lesions. Initially conceived for the treatment of early gastric cancer, ESD has demonstrated proficiency in achieving en-bloc resection of superficial gastrointestinal lesions. ESD has experienced widespread acceptance in Japan and East Asia; however, its adoption in the USA remains delayed. This initial hesitancy could be attributed to procedural complexity and training demands; nonetheless, recently, ESD has been gaining popularity in the USA. This is due to the advancements in endoscopic technology, tailored training programs, and cumulative evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of ESDs. This review aimed to deliberate the historical progress, current implementation, and prospective trajectory of ESDs in the USA. With ongoing clinical research, technological integration, and educational efforts, ESD is likely to become the gold standard for managing large gastrointesitinal lesions. This progress marks an imperative step toward less invasive, more precise, and patient-centric approaches regarding advanced therapeutic endoscopy in the USA.

Introduction: Knowledge of the magnitude to which the population implements protective measures issued by public health authorities is essential in preventing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The effectiveness of non-pharmacological prevention measures (NPM) and public policies aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19 depends on how well individuals are informed about the consequences of the infection and the measures they must adopt to reduce its spread. The understanding, attitudes, and practices of people in relation to COVID-19 and its prevention are fundamental for understanding the epidemiological dynamics, demanding research on compliance with NPM to prevent contagion in different territories. To this end, in 2020, NPM against COVID-19 were released by various sources, state and private, for most of the Brazilian population, with the aim of guiding behaviors to contain the health crisis. The Family Health Strategy (FHS) teams play a key role in this health education process, as they comprise sociocultural elements of their communities, reaching them both in capillarity and in local adequacy of technical-scientific information. This article covers field research, part of a national multicenter project. Objective: To evaluate whether the population of the territory of an FHS unit in the city of Condado, Pernambuco, understands and applies the information it received about NPM prevention in their practices to protect against COVID-19. More specifically, the research aimed to determine what information was received by the respondents, what are their sources, the degree of reliability attributed to these, in addition to their adherence to the NPM and their relationship with sociodemographic variables. Methods: The study model was observational and descriptive, with a quantitative approach, based on the collection of primary data with 70 users through face-to-face interviews with a structured questionnaire. Results: The results showed that the population received extensive information on disease prevention. Conclusion: With varying levels of reliability of the sources, attributing relevant importance to prevention measures and adopted most of them, with the exception of total social isolation.

Introduction: Communication is recognized as a central skill by various international medical education regulatory bodies. Specific teaching on communication skills is important to enhance doctors' communication. Experiential techniques appear to be superior compared to traditional models. Real-life consultation helps trainees visualize their interview skills and reflect on them. Upgraded by technology, the use of video-recorded medical visits became the standard approach for communication teaching. However, the effectiveness pf this technique relies on trainees' active involvement. Their inputs and peer feedback on the recorded consultation are essential to learning. Despite its importance, their perspective on the usefulness of video feedback in medical education has received limited attention. Objective: To understand the perception of learning among general practice trainees as a result of the video feedback activity in their vocational training. Methods: An exploratory, qualitative study, conducted with first-year general practice trainees from an established training program in São Paulo, Brazil. Participants were interviewed after educational session, which were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: Self-perception of their practice, communication skills learning, and affective gains were identified by participants as learning points derived from the video feedback activity. Furthermore, for specific communication skills learning, they mentioned nonverbal and verbal communication, theory and practice connections, consultation structure and opportunities for crystallizing knowledge. Affective gains included feeling part of a group, improving self-esteem, overcoming insecurities, perception of more effective consultations, reinforcing fondness for their work, and need for more learning. Conclusions: The learning gains identified in our study led to an experience of common humanity, which allowed participants to be more technically and affectively effective with their patients. Also, we identified that the video feedback educational activity can be used for other possible educational purposes, beyond the teaching of communication.

Introduction: This article explores the theme of empathy in the doctor-patient relationship. Objective: To contribute to the improvement of clinical communication skills by reviewing the understanding and application of empathy in clinical practice. Methods: A non-systematic review of the main books used in clinical communication on the topic of empathy. The methodological approach consisted in the following steps: (1) An intentional sample of the literature; (2) Data collection and reading, i.e., extracting fragments from texts; (3) Content analysis, focusing on definition, importance and instrumentalization for practical application; (4) Selection and synthesis to facilitate understanding and contextualization on the topic; and (5) Comparison and ponderance of the selected content. Results: The scope within which empathy was worked on in the selected literature resulted in three levels of empathic density: low, moderate, and high. Thus, low empathic density was limited to definition and importance; moderate density incorporated some examples of how to apply empathy in a fragmented way; high empathic density addressed the topic more fully, facilitating instrumentation in clinical practice. There is agreement in the literature analyzed that the practice of empathy reflects on the improvement of medical care. However, its exercise remains in the rational field. By exemplifying the practical application of empathy, the authors suggest that the physician adopt a non-judgmental posture, while proposing an imaginative exercise of guessing the patient's feelings/emotions. Although high-density empathy authors understand the importance of emotions and name them in the process, there is a need for an unfolding and deepening from this point on. Conclusions: Empathy is a complex subject with several nuances and is approached in different ways in the selected literature. This evidences its richness and originality, at the same time that it presents gaps for the application of empathy in clinical practice.

RESUMO

This study sought to explore the perspective of medical faculty on the mental health of their students. This qualitative study based on a focus group is part of a longitudinal research that studied the mental health of Brazilian students. One group was conducted with faculty employed at a medical school. Topics discussed covered the concept of mental health and medical education. Six professors participated in one group. The mental health of medical students is a construct that encompasses emotional aspects, ability to solve problems and multiple facets of a human being, according to the participants. Artistic practices, moments of socialization and leisure were perceived as stimulating students' good mental health. Excessive demands generate competitiveness and the teacher's expectation of the student's good performance based on their own experience can harm the student's mental health. Participants also highlighted that a pedagogical reformulation that makes sense for the student's learning process is necessary to update traditional curricula. Medical students' mental health is influenced by experiences and exchanges during the medical school, mainly between professor and student, understood as necessary and inherent to the process of becoming physician. The findings of this study show the need for curriculum changes in the medical education process and updating teacher training for good practices that reinforce good mental health.

BACKGROUND: The use of serious games in medical education provides a bridge between rapidly developing technology and traditional health-care teaching. Building on a promising web-based serious game for reviewing and acquiring factual knowledge in dental education, the present study investigated the benefits of a dual-player mode and various game options for enhancing knowledge gain and study motivation. METHODS: Before the intervention, students' dental knowledge and game experience were assessed using a pre-knowledge test and questionnaire-based self-assessment. Students in the clinical study phase (n = 57) were stratified based on prior knowledge and gender and then randomly assigned to two groups, with two player modes: single player (SP) and dual player (DP). In the SP group, each participant played alone, whereas in the DP group, the participants played against a previously determined peer. For a period of 4 weeks, the students were able to playfully acquire knowledge from the field of operative dentistry using METIS, a serious game application with three different game options (Marathon, Sprint, and Time). After the intervention phase, both groups completed a post-knowledge test. The usability of the serious game was evaluated with a self-assessment questionnaire. RESULTS: The competitive game mode (DP mode; M = 8.92, SD = 1.85) resulted in an increase in the factual knowledge test that was a mean of 2.49 points higher than the SP mode (M = 5.89, SD = 2.19; p < 0.001). The DP group also found the game significantly more helpful for learning (p = 0.04) and engaged more with the teaching content because of the app (p = 0.04). Overall, the usability of METIS was rated as excellent, and students successfully improved their knowledge of dentistry after game play with both game modes (SP, DP, p < 0.001), with the game option "Marathon," which involves playing the largest number of questions, being the most preferred. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that serious games such as METIS are a suitable educational medium for increasing students' knowledge and interest in the field, and that competition with peers provides even greater motivation to engage with the learning content.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Student-run free clinics are present at many medical schools throughout the United States. While many work with adult homeless or uninsured populations, few work with pediatric populations. We investigated the impact of volunteering at a free preparticipation sports physical clinic on medical students' educational motivation, school engagement, confidence in their clinical skills, connectedness to community, and self-efficacy. METHODS: First and second year undergraduate medical students who volunteered at a preparticipation sports physical clinic were eligible for the study. 30 students participated in the study, some volunteering multiple times, for a total of 55 post-volunteering surveys. Pre- and post-volunteering surveys were administered via REDCap. The surveys were designed using Likert scales and the General Self-Efficacy scale. Paired two tailed t-tests were used to analyze pre- and post-volunteering data. RESULTS: Students had statistically significant increases in their confidence in working with pediatric populations, performing a standard physical exam, working in an interdisciplinary setting, and communicating with patients. They also demonstrated statistically significant increases in their feelings of connectedness to their reason for practicing medicine and to the greater local community. CONCLUSIONS: This research demonstrated measurable increases in motivation and confidence in clinical skills for medical students that participated. This is a valuable experience for medical students and is a model that other medical schools can adopt to help diversify and strengthen their curriculum. In the future, we would like to collect more data to further evaluate the impact of this volunteering on medical students, patients, families, and other community stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: Oral health care behaviors during pregnancy affects maternal and child health outcomes. This scoping review sought to map the existing literature on the oral healthcare behaviors of pregnant women in Nigeria. METHODS: PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, EBSCOHOST, Sabinet, African Index Medicus, and Scopus data based were searched in August 2023. Articles with reports on the oral health behavior of pregnant women in Nigeria, published in English in peer review were included in the review. Articles whose full lengths could not be accessed, and commentaries on studies, and letters to the editor were also excluded. Data on authors and year of publication of the study, study location, study objective, study design, methodological approach for data collection, and study outcomes were extracted and descriptively synthesized. RESULTS: The search yielded a total of 595 articles of which 573 were unique. Only 21 articles were left after titles and abstracts screening and only 18 articles met the eligibility criteria. The proportion of pregnant women had utilized dental services ranged from 4 to 62.9%, the use of toothbrush and toothpaste ranged from 59.6 to 99.3%, twice daily tooth brushing ranged from 5.2 to 66.9%, and the use of toothbrush among pregnant women in the studies varies from 70.9 to 100%. Chewing stick was used by 0.1-27.7% of study participants. Dental problems such as caries, pain, swollen gums, and excessive salivation were reasons for seeking dental care. We identified individual, structural, and behavioral factors, including myths as barriers for dental service utilization. CONCLUSION: This scoping review shows that dental service utilization by pregnant women in Nigeria is poor and mainly due to curative than preventive needs. Oral health behaviours also need to be improved through tailored oral health education accessible to pregnant women in Nigeria.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Sport enjoyment is one of the most important factors in physical activity (PA) and physical education (PE) domains. It is not only beneficial for regular participation but also has a positive effect on mental health. Due to these benefits, this study aims to understand the relationships between PA, two forms of enjoyment, and the dimension of self-concept. METHODS: The sample consisted of 315 students (Mage=12.63). The Self-Description Questionnaire-I was used to measure the domains of self-concept. Enjoyment was measured with two scales. The Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale reflects extracurricular PA enjoyment, and the Factors Influencing Enjoyment of Physical Education Questionnaire reflects school PE enjoyment. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to assess vigorous, moderate, and walking types of extracurricular PA enjoyment. RESULTS: Hierarchical multivariate regression analysis revealed that vigorous PA predicted physical ability (ß = 0.19) and physical appearance (ß = 0.15). PA enjoyment was a significant predictor of general self-concept (ß = 0.29), physical ability (ß = 0.28), physical appearance (ß = 0.16), peer relation (ß = 0.16), and parental relations (ß = 0.14). PE enjoyment significantly predicted general school (ß = 0.17), physical ability (ß = 0.27), peer relations (ß = 0.21) and parental relations (ß = 0.22). Furthermore, boys scored at a higher level on most of self-concept domains. CONCLUSIONS: The present study suggested that enjoyment plays a more important role in self-concept than PA. PE enjoyment mainly strengthens boys' self-concept, but PA enjoyment is an important predictor of general self-concept in both genders. It is concluded that extracurricular PA enjoyment is beneficial, but increasing enjoyment of physical education could increase girls' self-concepts as well.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis (OA) contributes increasingly to disability worldwide. There is ample high-quality research on the treatment of knee and hip OA, whereas research on surgical and non-surgical treatment in hand OA is sparse. Limited evidence suggests that education and exercise may improve pain, function, stiffness, and grip strength in hand OA. The established surgical options in hand OA have disadvantages. Prostheses preserve motion but have a high complication rate, whereas fusions decrease function due to limited movement. There is an unmet need for high-quality research on treatment options for hand OA and a need for the development of effective and safe movement-sparing therapies. This study aims to compare the effects of a motion-preserving surgical treatment (denervation of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint) with a patient education and exercise program on patient-reported outcomes and objective function in painful PIP OA. METHODS: In this parallel-group, two-armed, randomized, controlled superiority trial (RCT), 90 participants are assigned to surgical PIP joint denervation or education and exercise. Pain on load 1 year after intervention is the primary outcome measure. Secondary outcome measures include pain at rest, Patient-Rated Wrist and Hand Evaluation (PRWHE), HQ8 score, EQ5D-5L, objective physical function, complications, two-point discrimination, Mini Sollerman, consumption of analgesics, and the need for further surgery. Assessments are performed at baseline, 3 and 6 months, and 1 year after intervention. DISCUSSION: There are no previous RCTs comparing surgical and non-surgical treatment in PIP OA. If patient education plus exercise or PIP denervation improve function, these treatments could be implemented as first-line treatment options in PIP OA. However, if denervation does not achieve better results than non-surgical treatment, it is not justified to use in PIP OA. TRIAL REGISTRATION: Prospectively registered in ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05980793) on 8 August 2023. URL https://classic. CLINICALTRIALS: gov/ct2/show/NCT05980793 .

RESUMO

Education plays a crucial role in the adaptation and broader societal inclusion of immigrant students and their families. The current study explored the inclusion of migrants in Ecuador's school system as a fundamental tenet of protecting their health and well-being. We conducted a thematic analysis of 13 policy documents, 12 national laws and international agreements, and 31 key informant interviews, applying a human rights lens. We find that, although the 2008 Ecuadorian Constitution and migration laws protect the right of migrants to health and education, key informants argue that these laws are poorly implemented. Furthermore, they agree that the health sector generally does not consider education as a relevant setting for health. In contrast, the public education sector and non-profit organizations at the national and local levels appear to recognize the importance of coordination across the health and education sectors, including school-based initiatives for migrant inclusion.

RESUMO

Background: Cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) are a group of rare non-Hodgkin lymphomas characterized by initial localization of malignant T-lymphocytes in the skin. Support and information from nurses and patient support groups have proven useful for patients with CTCL, but little is known about the educational needs of these patients. Objectives: To investigate the self-reported educational needs among CTCL patients using an educational needs assessment tool and to explore differences related to sex, age, disease duration, clinical stage, and education. Methods: This observational single center study analyzed 70 patients with CTCL in routine dermatological outpatient care. The patients were asked to complete a questionnaire to capture their educational needs in regard to CTCL. The questionnaire was inspired by the educational needs assessment tool, designed and validated for patients with rheumatoid disease. The questionnaire included a general question, "In general, how much information do you want to receive about your lymphoma disease?", and five domains covering information relating to disease process (6 items), treatment (4 items), feelings (2 items), self-management of itch, sleep, and rest (2 items), and support systems (3 items). The domain scores ranged from 0 to 18 and the total score from 0 to 51, with a higher score indicating a greater need for education. Results: When asked "In general, how much information do you need?", females wanted to know more compared with males (2.6 vs. 2.1, p=0.006), and patients with higher education wanted to know more than patients with lower education (2.5 vs. 2.0, p=0.025). The domains concerning treatment (80%) and disease process (75%) revealed the greatest needs for education. Patients with a disease duration <2 years reported a greater educational need for the domain support system, compared with patients with longer disease duration. Patients with lower education reported a greater educational need about feelings compared with patients with higher education. Conclusions: We found that 65% of the CTCL patients in the cohort, particularly females, expressed a need for education, especially regarding disease process and treatment. A deeper understanding of the educational needs would enable healthcare providers to give personalized information.

RESUMO

Causal illusions consist of believing that there is a causal relationship between events that are actually unrelated. This bias is associated with pseudoscience, stereotypes and other unjustified beliefs. Thus, it seems important to develop educational interventions to reduce them. To our knowledge, the only debiasing intervention designed to be used at schools was developed by Barberia et al. (Barberia et al. 2013 PLoS One 8, e71303 (doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0071303)), focusing on base rates, control conditions and confounding variables. Their assessment used an active causal illusion task where participants could manipulate the candidate cause. The intervention reduced causal illusions in adolescents but was only tested in a small experimental project. The present research evaluated it in a large-scale project through a collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and was conducted in schools to make it ecologically valid. It included a pilot study (n = 287), a large-scale implementation (n = 1668; 40 schools) and a six-month follow-up (n = 353). Results showed medium-to-large and long-lasting effects on the reduction of causal illusions. To our knowledge, this is the first research showing the efficacy and long-term effects of a debiasing intervention against causal illusions that can be used on a large scale through the educational system.

RESUMO

Introduction: The COVID-19 outbreak disrupted the nursing education across the world. The nursing students faced many challenges in their learning process. Objective: The study explored the experiences and challenges faced by nursing students who had virtual education in India. Methods: The study adopted an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design. The study was conducted as two phases. Phase 1: Qualitative data were collected using direct focus group interview with 18 students. Phase 2: Quantitative data were collected from 477 students using a Likert scale prepared by the investigators of the study on challenges experienced by nursing students on their education. The analysis was done using the descriptive and inferential statistics and thematic analysis. Results: Phase 1: The analyzed data produced seven themes and 10 sub-themes; (1) technical issues-a concern, (2) regular rhythm in educational training-but not complete, (3) stress and strain, (4) evaluation-a concern, (5) communication, (6) comfort zone, and (7) easy distraction. Phase 2: Majority of the students (54.71%) experienced high-level challenges with the nursing education during pandemic. The overall mean and SD of all the domain-wise challenges were 103.39 + 7.11 with the range from 30 to 150. The mean and SD with educational challenges were (20.27 + 3.04), environmental challenges (6.92 + 1.66), communication challenges (17.61 + 4.01), technical challenges (17.39 + 3.75), evaluation challenges (7.09 + 1.94), physical and mental challenges (20.47 + 4.33), career challenges (7.06 + 1.91), and financial challenges (6.61 + 2.1). The demographic variable gender (P = 0.045) showed a statistically significant association with the challenges. Conclusion: Considering the experiences and challenges faced by the nursing students, the nursing administrators shall design educational strategies to mitigate these challenges in nursing education during a pandemic. Implication: Virtual nursing education offers flexibility in teaching and learning, self-paced learning opportunity, lower the costs, career advancement, comfortable learning environment, more opportunities for participation, easier to track documentation and improves skills in technology. Therefore, the challenges in virtual nursing education should be lessened to have successful teaching learning experiences.

RESUMO

Introduction: Skin melanoma is the most severe form of skin cancer. Recent years have seen an increase in melanoma incidence. Melanomas often appear on the back, a hidden area, leading to late diagnoses. Physical therapists, who frequently treat patients with lower back pain, could play a crucial role in early melanoma detection. Methods: An anonymous online survey was conducted among 254 Israeli physical therapists to assess their perspectives on melanoma detection, their knowledge in identifying suspicious lesions, and their referral patterns. The survey included sections on demographics, professional perspectives, melanoma knowledge, personal or family experiences with melanoma, and referral frequency for dermatological evaluation. Results: The survey revealed that 75.2% of physical therapists viewed melanoma detection as part of their professional duties, yet 59.1% reported insufficient knowledge in identifying suspicious lesions. Despite this, 94.1% expressed a desire to improve their knowledge. However, only 44.1% actively referred patients with suspicious lesions to dermatologists. There was a significant positive correlation between professional experience and referral rates (p-value < 0.001), indicating that more experienced therapists were more likely to refer patients. Discussion: The study highlights the critical need for incorporating melanoma detection training into physical therapy education and professional development. Enhancing physical therapists' knowledge and skills in this area could improve early detection and patient outcomes. Despite the potential role of physical therapists in melanoma detection, current training programs lack emphasis on this aspect, underscoring the importance of revising educational curricula to include skin cancer detection techniques. Conclusion: The findings suggest that while physical therapists recognize their role in melanoma detection, there is a significant knowledge gap. Addressing this through targeted education and training could enhance early detection efforts and improve patient care.

RESUMO

Background: Africa has a high double burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases underscoring the critical need for robust scientific research. However, it is also associated with low scientific research productivity. Mozambique, which gained independence in 1975, serves as a poignant example. However, there remains a notable scarcity of evidence evaluating the country's trajectory in scientific and academic development. This study aims to evaluate 43 years of health-related scientific knowledge production through bibliometric analysis, focusing on key indicators. Additionally, it seeks to characterize the higher education institutions within the country. Methods: The data was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection using an advanced search tool with Boolean research strategies, covering the period from 1976 to 2022 for all PALOP and 1976 to 2019 for Mozambique. To map Mozambican higher institutions, information was sourced from the Ministry of Science Technology and Higher Education database. Descriptive statistics were employed to summarize the findings, while the VOSviewer program version 1.6.19 was utilized to visualize distance-based bibliometric networks, focusing on co-authorship among institutions and keyword co-occurrence. Results: Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) contribute 2.5 % (10,933 out of 442,309) to Africa's total scientific output, with Mozambique leading at 63.6 % (6,951 publications) followed by Angola at 16.6 % (1,811 publications). All PALOP countries experienced decreased scientific productivity during the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Mozambique, over 70 % (1,710 out of 2,380) of health-related publications from 2011 to 2019 were concentrated in this period. Key journals for health sciences include PLOS ONE, Malaria Journal, and Tropical Medicine & International Health, focusing on HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. Higher education institutions in Mozambique show regional disparities, with 67.9 % in the South and only 8.9 % in the North, indicating significant inequality in their distribution across the country. Conclusion: This study highlights Mozambique's significant progress in health research productivity over 43 years, establishing it as a leader among PALOP countries. The substantial increase in publications, particularly after 2008, underscores the nation's growing research capacity and commitment to addressing critical health challenges such as HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. However, regional disparities in higher education access and limited research contributions from private universities remain high in Mozambique.

RESUMO

More and more digital technologies are being integrated into school learning, and one strategy by policymakers to reinforce this trend is employing digital one-to-one approaches. For digital technologies to be fruitfully integrated into school-based learning scenarios, teachers and their anticipations are key. In our study, we want to explore how internal, external and technological factors affect the instructional anticipations of mathematics teachers in a digital one-to-one educational environment. Therefore, we employed a modified model of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. Through our structural equation study, in which data from more than 900 mathematics teachers were analyzed, we identified that especially technological and external factors can predict mathematics teachers' instructional anticipations. Findings from our study could be particularly relevant for educational policymakers, informing them about the importance of factors or interventions related to educational technology implementation.

RESUMO

Background: Simulation-based medical education (SBME) is a widely used method in medical education. This study aims to analyze publications on SBME in terms of countries, institutions, journals, authors, and keyword co-occurrence, as well as to identify trends in SBME research. Methods: We retrieved the Publications on SBME from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from its inception to January 27, 2024. Microsoft Excel 2019, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer were used to identify the distribution of countries, journals, and authors, as well as to determine the research hotspots. Results: We retrieved a total of 11272 publications from WoSCC. The number of documents published in 2022 was the highest in the last few decades. The USA, the UK, and Canada were three key contributors to this field. The University of Toronto, Stanford University, and Harvard Medical School were the top major institutions with a larger number of publications. Konge, Lars was the most productive author, while McGaghie, William C was the highest cited author. BMC Medical Education has the highest number of publications among journals. The foundational themes of SBME are "Patient simulation," "extending reality," and "surgical skills." Conclusions: SBME has attracted considerable attention in medical education. The research hotspot is gradually shifting from traditional simulations with real people or mannequins to virtual, digitally-based simulations and online education. Further studies will be conducted to elucidate the mechanisms of SBME. The utilization of SBME will be more rationalized.
