INTRODUCTION: MRI often induces anxiety, leading to incomplete scans and claustrophobia-related distress. Open MRI systems aim to enhance patient comfort. This study examines how prior MRI experiences impact subsequent encounters in an open upright MRI scanner. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 118 adult patients completed a self-administered questionnaire from August 2022 to October 2023. It covered previous MRI experiences, including questions about claustrophobia, premature scan terminations, sedative medication usage, general MRI experiences, and interactions with radiology technologists. RESULTS: Patients in open upright MRI reported less claustrophobia compared to closed MRI systems (18.4% vs. 58.3%), fewer premature scan terminations (5.3% vs. 31.0%), and less sedative use (5.3% vs. 46.9%). Moderate positive correlations were found between past and current claustrophobic events and premature scan terminations. Effective communication with radiology technologists was essential for patient comfort and reduced claustrophobia. Scan duration and noise triggered discomfort in 26.1% and 21.6% of study participants respectively. Persons without prior MRI experience were more satisfied with the examination and expressed no clear preference for future MRI settings, contrasting those with previous exposure favoring the open MRI setup. CONCLUSION: The study emphasizes the benefits of open upright MRI for high-risk claustrophobic patients. It identifies the lasting impact of negative MRI experience on future examinations and highlights the crucial role of radiology technologists. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Integrating open MRI scanners in medical facilities and prioritizing effective communication with radiology technologists enhances patient comfort. Positive experiences with open MRI may improve patient compliance and offer greater flexibility for future examinations.

OBJECTIVES: Early interventions improve outcomes for people at high risk of psychosis and are likely to be cost saving. This group tends to seek help for emotional problems - depression and anxiety - via primary care services, where early detection methods are poor. We sought to determine prevalence rates of high risk for psychosis in UK primary care mental health services and clinical outcomes following routinely delivered psychological therapies. METHODS: We used a brief screen designed for settings with low base rates and significant time constraints to determine prevalence of high risk for psychosis in UK 'Talking Therapies' services. We examined socio-demographic characteristics, presenting problems and recovery trajectories for this group, compared with people not at risk of psychosis. RESULTS: A 2-item screen selected for specificity yielded a prevalence rate of 3% in primary care mental health services. People at elevated risk of psychosis were younger and more likely to report at least one long-term physical condition. This group presented with higher levels of depression, anxiety and trauma symptoms at assessment and were less likely to have recovered at the end of treatment, compared to people not at risk. CONCLUSIONS: Very brief screening tools can be implemented in busy health care settings. The 3% of referrals to UK primary care psychological therapies services at elevated risk of psychosis typically present with more severe symptoms and greater levels of comorbidity and may require augmented interventions to recover fully.

This literature review aims to explore religiosity, faith, and related beliefs in autistic adolescents. The term religiosity was used interchangeably with various related concepts such as faith, spirituality, and religious beliefs, and a broader, multifaceted approach encompassing the cognitive, subjective, social, cultural, and emotional domains of religiosity is analyzed in this population subgroup. In alignment with the neurodiversity paradigm, this review endeavors to adopt an inclusive lens toward autism spectrum conditions, appreciating the spectrum of cognitive and behavioral differences and highlighting the importance of recognizing strengths and challenges alike, reflecting the nuanced discourse surrounding neurodiversity and autism spectrum conditions. However, terms such as "high-functioning autism" and "disorder" were used where needed to reflect the journals included in the review. A systematic search was conducted by accessing academic search engines such as APA PsycInfo, APA PsycArticles, APA PsycTests, and PubMed. Only peer-reviewed articles written in English and performed on human subjects were included using strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Several recurring themes were identified from the 13 articles selected after review for relevance and quality. The most important finding was the association of different terminologies and features while exploring "religiosity in autism." Thirty-nine key themes were identified, which were grouped into six major themes. These were religious faith, spirituality, and its expression in autistic adolescents; religious behaviors and practices of autistic adolescents; cognition and religion in autistic teens; social and cultural influences on religiosity in autistic young ones; parents' and carers' influence, perspectives, and experiences about faith and spirituality on autistic adolescents; and perceived benefits of faith to autistic teens: parents and adolescent perspectives. Looking at the concept of religiosity and spirituality as a whole, it can be inferred from the available research included in this review that religiosity (cognitive abilities, behaviors, and experiences) in a subset of autistic adolescents (high-functioning autism) might not be significantly subdued as compared to neurotypical adolescents. However, there is not enough research to conclude the same or the opposite for autistic adolescents in general. When found, reserved religiosity could be attributed to a plethora of factors, and decreased mental ability or mentalization, empathy, or imagination did not seem to be the sole or primary predictors or contributors to religiosity. The role of culture, parents, carers, and religious affiliations was significant and might be a stronger contributor to religiosity and its expression than other previously argued predictors like mentalization. Many autistic teens and their carers regard religiosity and spirituality as essential domains in their and their children's lives, want their children to be given opportunities to be a part of religious groups and affiliations, and look forward to government, religious, and healthcare authorities actively supporting them in this domain. The findings call for policymakers, religious leaders, and stakeholders to devise strategies for inclusion and support for autistic adolescents. The possible role of religion as a resource and coping strategy for these children and their families is worth exploring.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected the lives, health, and social well-being of people globally including presenting special challenges in low to middle income countries for people living with HIV. This study investigates the pandemic experiences of the four key HIV-positive populations in Indonesia: men who have sex with men, transgender women, female sex workers, and people who use drugs. In-depth interviews were conducted with a convenience sample of 22 key population members recruited through 9 nongovernment HIV agencies in Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia. Indonesia's Large-scale Social Restrictions Policy mandating physical distancing and stay-at-home orders had been in effect for 7-10 months at the time of the interviews. The interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed, and coded using NVivo™ (R1.7) software. A grounded theory approach identified key concepts along with similarities, differences, and reoccurring patterns of COVID-19 lived experience among participants. Participants recounted the impact of both the pandemic and the Restriction Policy on their interpersonal, financial, medical, and psychosocial well-being. When in need, they turned to formal and informal sources of financial and social support plus their own resourcefulness. Along with other factors, HIV medication shortages, HIV and COVID-19 related stigma, and fear of acquiring COVID-19 negatively impacted their antiretroviral adherence and the use of health services. The results point to the latent consequences of government attempts to curb a pandemic through public health lockdowns and enforced policies of physical separation. Its findings reveal the importance of ensuring that public safety nets for HIV key populations are available to supplement more informal personal sources of needed support.

INTRODUCTION: The stay of a critically ill child in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is a significant experience for the family. Thus far, little is known regarding the impact of this stay on parents and their healthy children for whom no continuous aftercare services are offered. This study aimed to capture the post-stay experience and needs of parents after this traumatic event so that they could return to family and everyday life. METHODS: This qualitative descriptive study was conducted in collaboration with four pediatric intensive care units in Switzerland. It included parents whose children had fully recovered after a stay and who did not require continuous medical follow-up. All children were hospitalized in the PICU for at least 48 h. Data were collected through narrative pairs (n = 6) and individual interviews (n = 8). Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed, coded inductively according to Saldaña, and analyzed. RESULTS: The results showed three related phases that influence each other to restore normality in daily life: Trust and inclusion in the treatment process during the stay (1), processing after the stay (2), and returning to everyday life (3). CONCLUSION: Follow-up meetings should be available to all parents whose children have been hospitalized in the PICU. In particular, it should also be available to parents whose children have fully recovered and no longer have any medical disabilities.

Background: The value of music lies in its ability to evoke emotions. People can gain emotional experiences in music and can also regulate their own emotions through music. Music has its own structural rules, and exploring the relationship between musical structure and emotions is an important approach to understanding the mechanism of music-induced emotions. Musical mode refers to the arrangement of intervals around the tonic, presenting different musical modes based on the central tone and the arrangement of intervals, including Chinese pentatonic modes and Western major and minor modes. Musical morphology indicates significant differences in the construction intensity of traditional Chinese pentatonic modes and major and minor modes, affecting their mode forms and thus determining their adaptability to external influences. Aims: Exploring the modalities of music and the effects of individual music training experiences on emotion induction; validating whether musical modes exhibit cross-cultural universality in the process of emotion induction. Method: This study recruited 65 university students as participants (34 with music training experience, 31 without music training experience). Through a passive listening paradigm using the GEMS and combined with a biofeedback equipment, it explored the differences in behavioral and physiological indicators (skin conductance, temperature, heart rate) of emotional experiences (basic and aesthetic emotions) influenced by the modal forms of Chinese traditional pentatonic modes and Western major and minor modes. Results: Firstly, the arousal level of music emotion is a primary factor influencing individuals' aesthetic emotional experiences in music, which is related to the intensity of modal construction in music; Secondly, the emotional pleasure and skin temperature change induced by pentatonic music are greater than those induced by major and minor modes; Thirdly, the arousal level, electrodermal change, and heart rate variability of major and minor modes are greater than those of pentatonic music; Finally, music training experience enhances college students' familiarity and preference for pentatonic music, thereby strengthening the electrodermal physiological indicators of emotional experiences. Conclusion: The different modal forms of music express different levels of emotional arousal, leading to differences in individuals' emotional dimensions and physiological indicators in music. Additionally, individuals' music training experiences and cultural backgrounds also influence their experience of music emotions.

Background: Heart failure (HF) is responsible for a high number of hospitalizations, caused by a progressive worsening quality of life. Telemedicine allows for better management of patients' complex conditions, improving the care released. However, the risk of remaining at a testing stage often limits the integration of remote care in daily pathways for HF patients. The aim of this study is to outline the steps needed to integrate telemedicine activities into ordinary HF clinic practices. This methodology is applied to observe activities and trend improvements over a 12-month routine phase. Method: Three steps have been defined for an efficient introduction of remote care services in ordinary activities, integrating them with traditional in-person care: (i) introduction of temporary telemedicine projects, (ii) systematization of telemedicine pathways, and (iii) evaluation of monitoring phase. Observational data have been collected from structured interviews to show the rate of telemedicine activities achieved in clinical practice over the last year. Results: The methodology has been proposed in the HF clinic of the Italian hospital ASST Bergamo Est. After an initial testing phase, in which usability and user experience have been tested, four different remote activities were added: (i) telemonitoring for patients with an implantable device, (ii) follow-up televisits, (iii) nursing telephone support, and (iv) high-intensity telesurveillance pathways for patients after an HF acute event. During the last year, 218 telemonitoring pathways, 75 televisits, 500 telephone calls, and nine telesurveillance pathways have been performed. Success rates were high, and patients gave positive feedback. Conclusion: By integrating multiple telemedicine activities, it has been possible to better manage complex patients, keep track of disease progression, and improve their participation in care.

OBJECTIVE: Women who experience obstetric interventions and complications during childbirth have an increased risk of developing postnatal post-traumatic stress and mental illness. This study aimed to test the effect of a trauma-informed support programme based on psychological first aid (PFA) to reduce the mothers' symptoms of stress, fear of childbirth (FOC), anxiety and depression after a complicated childbirth. METHODS: The study population consisted of women ≥ 18 years old who had undergone a complicated childbirth (i.e. acute or emergency caesarean section, vacuum extraction, child in need of neonatal care, manual placenta removal, obstetric anal sphincter injury, shoulder dystocia or major haemorrhage (>1000 ml)). A total of 101 women participated in the study, of whom 43 received the intervention. Demographic questions and three self-assessment instruments measuring stress symptoms, FOC, anxiety and depression were answered one to three months after birth. RESULTS: The women in the intervention group scored significantly lower on the stress symptom scale, with a halved median score compared to the control group. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding FOC, depression and anxiety. CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that this PFA-based support programme might reduce post-traumatic stress symptoms in women who have gone through a complicated childbirth. With further studies in a larger population, this support programme has the potential to contribute to improved maternal care optimizing postnatal mental health.

OBJECTIVE: Medication reconciliation (MedRec) is an essential healthcare function particularly relevant to pharmacists' expertise and a learning opportunity for pharmacy students. Our objective was to assess change across clinical competence, confidence, and communication skills after completion of a medication reconciliation (MedRec) rotation by second year pharmacy students. METHODS: A retrospective post-then-pre survey including 29 questions was developed/delivered to students following the completion of required MedRec hours. The primary endpoint was the change in three domains via summed scores from individual questions. Cohen's difference (d) was used to determine group-effect size change. Secondary endpoints included individual question change, perceived patient impact, and subgroup analyses. RESULTS: Of 115 P2 students, 81.7% (n=94) participated in the study. Students self-reported increases on the Likert Scale (0-10) of 2.49±1.90 in clinical competency domain (p<.001, d=1.52), 3.57±2.13 in confidence domain (p<.001, d=1.13), and 3.12±2.15 in communication skills domain (p<.001, d=1.57), representing large group-effect changes across all three. Twenty-one of the 22 individual questions had large group-effect changes; one question (nursing communications) had a moderate group-effect change. Student perception of MedRec impact on patient care (Likert Scale 0-10) was positive: post-rotation score 7.39±1.57. CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this is the first larger-scale study that examines student-evaluated outcomes of a MedRec-based rotation. Students self-reported high levels of post-rotation competency across all domains; students from ethnic minorities and with less work/MedRec experience increased their lower pre-rotation scores to statistically similar post-rotation scores, compared to non-minority and more experienced peers. Further study of the model and outcomes is advised.

BACKGROUND: Engaging in clinical research includes confronting challenges about the uncertainty around outcomes and ramifications the results may have on practice. This is pertinent for osteopathy where little is known about the experiences of osteopaths involved in clinical trials. The aim of this study was to explore the lived experience of osteopaths who participated in a randomised controlled trial for infantile colic. The study was informed by a principles-based approach to clinical ethics and their application to practice. DESIGN: Qualitative study using semi-structured interviews and reflexive thematic analysis. SETTING: An international two-arm pragmatic randomised controlled trial (the CUTIES trial) to evaluate the effectiveness of osteopathic care for infantile colic. METHODS: A principles-based approach to clinical ethics and their application to practice for osteopaths asked to make decisions about participating in a clinical trial was used. Osteopaths from the UK and Australia who completed the CUTIES trial training were invited to be interviewed about their experiences, regardless of whether they went on to recruit infants in the trial. Interviewees were asked about their reasons for wanting to participate in the CUTIES trial, why they decided to continue or not to continue in the trial and, for those who completed the trial, their personal experiences as participants in the trial. Data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. RESULTS: Nine osteopaths were interviewed. Three themes were identified from the data: Paradigm dilemma - observed clinical outcomes vs scientific evidence for mechanism of effects; trial-related ethical dilemmas; and trial outcome dilemmas. CONCLUSION: Participating in the CUTIES trial required osteopaths to overcome clinical ethical dilemmas for the benefit of patients, the research, and the profession.

AIMS: Maternal positions during childbirth play an important role in safe vaginal births and might also influence women's childbirth experiences greatly. Lateral positions, as a potential position to reduce negative maternal and neonatal outcomes, have become popular in recent years, especially in China where the adoption of conventional lithotomy positions is still common. However, the childbirth experience of those who gave birth in lateral positions has been rarely studied. This study aimed to describe and compare women's childbirth experiences of adopting the newly introduced lateral positions and the conventional lithotomy positions during the second stage of labour. STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional study was conducted in two tertiary hospitals in China involving a total of 658 primiparous and parous women who adopted lateral and lithotomy positions during the second stage of labour from July to November 2020. Sociodemographic characteristics, maternal and neonatal outcomes as well as childbirth experience assessed by the Childbirth Experience Questionnaire (CEQ) were collected. This study followed the STROBE guidelines. RESULTS: Women who once adopted lateral positions during the second stage of labour had better positive childbirth experiences compared with those in the lithotomy positions group, as demonstrated by their overall higher CEQ scores. Women in the lateral position group also reported better participation and perceived safety, and a greater sense of control during childbirth. Lateral positions remained an influential factor in CEQ scores after controlling for potential confounders. In this study, adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes were rare. Women in lateral positions had comparatively better perineal outcomes. CONCLUSION: This study described and compared women's childbirth experiences of adopting conventional lithotomy positions and lateral positions during the second stage of labour using a valid instrument. Women who adopted lateral positions during the second stage of labour reported better childbirth experiences than those giving birth in the conventional lithotomy positions. Thus, assisting women in giving birth in lateral positions might be a promising way to improve women's childbirth experience.

We Investigated how promoting diverse, healthy food options affects long-term dietary choices. We hypothesized that encouraging exploration of nutritious plant-based foods would lead to lasting improvements in diet. Participants (N=211) were randomly assigned into two groups for a 6-week intervention: The fixed menu group was given the same large menu every week, while the changing menu group received a new small menu each week. At the end of the intervention both groups were exposed to the same menu suggestions. Food diversity evaluation was based on weekly reports collected during the intervention. Self-reported adherence to Mediterranean diet components was assessed using the I-MEDAS screener. The proportion of plant-based foods in participants' diets was estimated using a 0-100% scale based on self-report. Both items were evaluated using online questionnaires given to participants at baseline, at the end of the intervention, as well as three and six months after the intervention concluded. Results mean(SD) demonstrated that participants in fixed menu group explored a significantly wider array of items 26.33(11.64) than those in the changing menus group [19.79(10.29), t(202) = 4.25, p < 0.001, Cohen's d = 0.60]. A repeated measures analysis of covariance rmANCOVA revealed that short-term increase in I-MEDAS and PBD score were noted in both groups; however, only participants with the fixed menu sustained this increase at months follow-up [diff = 1.50, t(132) = 4.50, p <0.001 Our findings suggest that manipulating the rate of exposure to food suggestions may affect overall dietary variety. It seems that early presentation with options may increase overall dietary variety and may even support longer-term habits. This study contributes to developing effective interventions and highlights the challenge of promoting exploratory behavior in nutrition.

INTRODUCTION: Reflections enable students to gain additional value from a given experience. The use of Chat Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT, OpenAI Incorporated) has gained momentum, but its impact on dental education is understudied. OBJECTIVES: To assess whether or not university instructors can differentiate reflections generated by ChatGPT from those generated by students, and to assess whether or not the content of a thematic analysis generated by ChatGPT differs from that generated by qualitative researchers on the same reflections. METHODS: Hardcopies of 20 reflections (10 generated by undergraduate dental students and 10 generated by ChatGPT) were distributed to three instructors who had at least 5 years of teaching experience. Instructors were asked to assign either 'ChatGPT' or 'student' to each reflection. Ten of these reflections (five generated by undergraduate dental students and five generated by ChatGPT) were randomly selected and distributed to two qualitative researchers who were asked to perform a brief thematic analysis with codes and themes. The same ten reflections were also thematically analyzed by ChatGPT. RESULTS: The three instructors correctly determined whether the reflections were student or ChatGPT generated 85% of the time. Most disagreements (40%) happened with the reflections generated by ChatGPT, as the instructors thought to be generated by students. The thematic analyses did not differ substantially when comparing the codes and themes produced by the two researchers with those generated by ChatGPT. CONCLUSIONS: Instructors could differentiate between reflections generated by ChatGPT or by students most of the time. The overall content of a thematic analysis generated by the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT did not differ from that generated by qualitative researchers. Overall, the promising applications of ChatGPT will likely generate a paradigm shift in (dental) health education, research, and practice.

Background: Australia provides education services to international students which includes international students completing a health professional education (HPE) degree. Studying for a HPE degree can be challenging for most students. There are specific challenges for international students when completing a degree with clinical placements. The challenges international students can face include receiving adequate and timely information, understanding health service access, and receiving the correct information from education providers and agents.Objectives: To gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges for international health professional education students in accessing healthcare, understanding the requirements of compliance to attend clinical placements and the difficulties with attending clinical placements.Design: A semi-structured interview schedule based on findings from a survey (N = 318 participants) was used to explore international student perspectives in one-on-one interviews.Methods: Data were collected from international HPE students from a single Australian metropolitan multi-campus university using a questionnaire, which included qualitative open-ended questions, in addition to semi-structured follow-on interviews. Data collection took place between March and October 2021 and qualitative data were inductively thematically analysed.Results: Challenges reported in interviews by six international students were focused on understanding the navigation of new administrative systems and compliance processes. Students noted gaps in the communication of understanding legislative compliance requirements to attend clinical placements, difficulties accessing healthcare and making use of overseas student health cover, organisational issues, and transport issues when attending clinical placements.Conclusions: Higher education providers and international education agents must address communication deficits in course requirements linked to clinical placement prerequisites. This study highlights gaps in commencing international students' understanding, and higher education providers' communication of clear, timely detailed information.

BACKGROUND: Sepsis is a frequent cause of global deaths with time critical diagnosis and treatment impacting outcomes. Prehospital emergency nurses are pivotal in assessment that influences timely diagnosis. AIM: To gain a deep understanding of nurse's experiences when caring for those with suspected sepsis. DESIGN AND METHODS: A qualitative study using semi-structured interviews and inductive content analysis according to the Elo Kyngäs method. FINDINGS: Early identification of sepsis by prehospital emergency nurses (n = 13) was augmented through a combination of clinical experience and the implementation of practice guidelines. There were three key components to practice improvement a) clinical experience, b) continuous education and c) explicit guidelines. CONCLUSIONS: Identification of sepsis in the prehospital environment can shorten the time to treatment for patients with sepsis. Early identification can be achieved by continuous education in the Emergency Medical Service (EMS), ensuring experienced personnel and including the EMS in medical guidelines.

Background: Becoming a parent, while often perceived as a joyous event, can also be a vulnerable life transition, with approximately one in five mothers experiencing perinatal mental illness. Peer support is recommended for its preventive and therapeutic benefits. However, relevant program components of perinatal mental health peer support remain to be identified. Objectives: This review aims to (1) identify peer support programs in perinatal mental health through existing reviews and to (2) synthesize the components of these programs. Methods: A systematic literature review guided by PRISMA was conducted searching four databases, supplemented by hand searches. The Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR) checklist facilitated the systematic extraction and synthesis of program components. Results: Eleven peer support programs were identified from three reviews, largely conducted in English-speaking countries. The identified reviews highlight the benefits of peer support in perinatal mental health. Key components of individual programs were contextual background, materials, provider training and support, delivery modes and locations, and evaluation. Sharing lived experience and providing flexible support were central to all programs. Conclusion: Aspects of flexibility, authenticity and the challenges of program evaluation in peer support must be considered. Findings can now inform future planning and implementation efforts of peer support programs in periantal mental health.

Core to understanding emotion are subjective experiences and their expression in facial behavior. Past studies have largely focused on six emotions and prototypical facial poses, reflecting limitations in scale and narrow assumptions about the variety of emotions and their patterns of expression. We examine 45,231 facial reactions to 2,185 evocative videos, largely in North America, Europe, and Japan, collecting participants' self-reported experiences in English or Japanese and manual and automated annotations of facial movement. Guided by Semantic Space Theory, we uncover 21 dimensions of emotion in the self-reported experiences of participants in Japan, the United States, and Western Europe, and considerable cross-cultural similarities in experience. Facial expressions predict at least 12 dimensions of experience, despite massive individual differences in experience. We find considerable cross-cultural convergence in the facial actions involved in the expression of emotion, and culture-specific display tendencies-many facial movements differ in intensity in Japan compared to the U.S./Canada and Europe but represent similar experiences. These results quantitatively detail that people in dramatically different cultures experience and express emotion in a high-dimensional, categorical, and similar but complex fashion.

Background: Despite the global acceptance of palliative sedation, China's engagement in this field remains comparatively restricted. There exists a scarcity of information regarding the attitudes and experiences of hospice nurses concerning palliative sedation. Objectives: This survey aimed at investigating the attitudes of Chinese hospice nurses toward palliative sedation, as well as their practices in palliative sedation. Design: A cross-sectional descriptive study. Setting/Subjects: In 2023, the survey on palliative sedation was introduced during the opening ceremony of the largest National Symposium on New Advances in Hospice Nursing in China. Subsequently, the study questionnaire was disseminated through email to a cohort of 806 hospice nurses attending the conference. Measurements/Results: The statistical analysis was based on 641 valid responses. Among them, 508 had no experience with palliative sedation, while only 133 had such experience. Around 92.5% of hospice nurses with experience in palliative sedation agreed with the physician's instructions to begin palliative sedation. Nurses were present at the start of sedation in nearly all cases (97.0%), and most doctors (79.7%) and family members (82.0%) were also present. However, 8.3% of them perceived that there was no difference between palliative sedation and euthanasia. Furthermore, 13.5% of participants believed that the purpose of palliative sedation was to hasten death. Conclusions: Hospice nurses play a crucial role in the process of palliative sedation, yet they also face significant challenges. It suggests that there is an urgent need in China for the development of consensus or guidelines for palliative sedation to clarify the roles of team members, including hospice nurses.

Background: The participation of patients in clinical trials is crucial for the development of healthcare. There are several challenges in the recruitment of trial participants with acute medical conditions. The registry-based randomized DAPA-MI clinical trial recruited patients during hospitalization for myocardial infarction and provided study drugs in bottles with smart caps that used wireless technology to transmit monitoring data. This interview study aimed to investigate patients' experience of participation in a clinical trial and their attitude to the new bottle cap technology. Methods: A subset of patients participating in the DAPA-MI trial were recruited from four hospitals in Sweden. Semi-structured interviews were conducted and analysed using manifest content analysis. Results: Video interviews were performed including 21 patients (four women and 17 men). The median age was 59 years (range 44-80). Four categories of patients' experiences were identified. A willingness to contribute consisted of patients' positive attitudes to participation and to be a part of development and research. The perception of information emphasized the value of the oral information as well as the importance of time for reflection. Be in a vulnerable condition highlighted the impaired ability to perceive and remember in the acute medical condition. Adaptation to a new technology described the overall positive experiences of the smart bottle cap to evaluate adherence. Conclusions: Patients' experiences of trial participation were in general positive but some challenges in the acute setting of a myocardial infarction were revealed. The smart bottle cap was well accepted, despite some handling difficulties.

Background: Kimono is being reevaluated for its sustainability aspects, such as having fewer offcuts in the production process due to its structural differences from Western-style clothes and its high reusability due to the adaptability to individuals' body shapes. On the other hand, once a common attire for daily wear in Japan, kimono has transitioned to being worn only on special events and the kimono-related industry has also shrunk. To stimulate demand for kimono, it is essential to familiarize younger generations with its potential as daily wear. Methods: A questionnaire survey on perceptions of kimono was conducted among two groups in Japan: 211 college students and 50 kimono enthusiasts. The questionnaire included demographic questions and psychometric scales, primarily focusing on their kimono experiences, challenges associated with wearing kimono, their perceptions of kimono and Western-style clothes, and their attitudes towards kimono. Results: The results revealed that a majority of students had worn kimono before, though they found it difficult to move while wearing it. In contrast, kimono enthusiasts evaluated it as easier to move, hard to become disheveled, and casual. They also rated the ease of wearing Western-style clothes lower compared to students, and this tendency intensified with the length of enthusiast experience. Furthermore, the findings indicated that enthusiasts regarded the kimono more as daily wear compared to students, while still deriving enjoyment from it as formal attire in special events. Conclusions: These results suggest that the cognition that Western-style clothes are easy to move and kimono is not may change with experiences. Therefore, providing opportunities for people in Japan to acquire how to wear kimono in comfortable ways possibly impacts their perceptions of kimono.
