OBJECTIVES: To describe the current state of research and future research hotspots through a metrological analysis of the literature in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research. METHODS: The data retrieved and extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), the core database of the Web of Science information service platform (hereinafter referred to as "WoS"), was used to analyze the trends and topic changes in research on forensic identification of human remains from 1991 to 2022. Network visualisation of publication trends, countries (regions), institutions, authors and topics related to the identification of remains in forensic anthropology was analysed using python 3.9.2 and Gephi 0.10. RESULTS: A total of 873 papers written in English in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research were obtained. The journal with the largest number of publications was Forensic Science International (164 articles). The country (region) with the largest number of published papers was China (90 articles). Katholieke Univ Leuven (Netherlands, 21 articles) was the institution with the largest number of publications. Topic analysis revealed that the focus of forensic anthropological remains identification research was sex estimation and age estimation, and the most commonly studied remains were teeth. CONCLUSIONS: The volume of publications in the field of forensic anthropological remains identification research has a distinct phasing. However, the scope of both international and domestic collaborations remains limited. Traditionally, human remains identification has primarily relied on key areas such as the pelvis, skull, and teeth. Looking ahead, future research will likely focus on the more accurate and efficient identification of multiple skeletal remains through the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques.

As the decision-making basis for "safety" in risk management and risk assessment activities, acceptable risk has always been an important topic of risk-related research. Based on the records in the Science Citation Index Expanded database and Social Sciences Citation Index database via the Web of Science Core Collection, 1124 articles or reviews related to acceptable risk in engineering and operations research and management science were retrieved. These documents, published between 1961 and 2021, covered 3056 authors, 75 countries/territories, 1296 institutions, and 323 journals. In this study, bibliometric data such as annual growth trends were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Through the co-occurrence maps created by CiteSpace and Gephi, the most productive and influential countries/territories, institutions, and authors as well as their cooperation networks were identified. Further analysis was conducted to determine the core publications and publication sources in this field through co-citation analysis. Insights into focus areas and research topics over time were obtained through keyword co-occurrence analysis. This study provides a macroscopic overview of acceptable risk research and may help researchers better understand this research field and predict its dynamic directions.
RESUMO
There is a relationship between the trade flows of the countries and their economic growth potential and development. One way to analyze the trade flows of countries with each other is the use of network analysis techniques. Network analysis uses a visual, mathematical and statistical approach to identify and quantify the structural properties of networks. In this study, the relationship of the first 50 countries in the world in terms of export volume was evaluated with Gephi 0.9.2, one of the social network analysis programs. The effect of the COVID-19 epidemic disease on the commercial flows of the countries is the main purpose of the study. The existence of the effective role of geographic proximity in commercial flows, the commercial partners of the countries, the centrality criteria and the existence of countries that have an active role in the world are clarified with this study.
RESUMO
The ageing population and society (APS) nexus is one of the key grand challenges of this millennium. And yet, the systematic analysis of scholarly literature on the APS nexus has remained under the radar. This study responds to this gap and employs a quantitative approach through a scientometric analysis of literature on the APS nexus to inform policy discussions and guide future research directions. This study adopts quantitative scientometric methods to examine the APS literature (n = 566) between 2011 and 2020 found in the Scopus database. The analysis reveals key research topics and recognizes the most important articles, authors, publication outlets, institutions, and countries in the field. The findings indicate that while issues such as ageing population, gender, quality of life, and socio-economic aspects of ageing have received significant interest, social exclusion of older adults, age diversity, social policy, and the eldercare workforce have received less attention. As challenges associated with the APS nexus will continue to gain currency in the future, this paper discusses the implications of the findings on (a) future research direction and (b) north-south research collaboration. The analysis shown in this paper should be of interest to scholars and policymakers interested in addressing the challenges associated with the APS nexus.

This study aims to analyze the research on the prevention and treatment of cerebral small vessel diseases(CSVDs) with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) based on knowledge map, and to preliminarily explore the research hotspots and trends. To be specific, articles on TCM treatment of CSVDs in CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP(from establishment to November 2021) were retrieved, followed by bibliometric analysis. Then CiteSpace 5.7 R4 and Gephi were employed for generation of maps on annual number of articles, author cooperation, institution cooperation, keyword co-occurrence, keyword clustering, and keyword emergence. A total of 106 eligible articles were screened out, and the annual number of articles presented a steady upward trend. A total of 277 authors were included in the author cooperation network, among whom CHEN Zhigang published the most articles. A total of 87 institutions were included in the institution cooperation network, among which Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine showed the most frequent cooperation with other institutions. Keyword clustering showed that research on the TCM treatment of CSVDs mainly focused on five aspects: related disease research, neurological function deficits, disease nature and location in TCM, TCM treatment methods, and formulas. The prevention and treatment of CSVDs with TCM in China has been developing steadily in the past ten years, and TCM has unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of this disease. The knowledge maps vividly demonstrated the development and research hotspots and trends in this field. The result is expected to provide a reference for further research in this field.

OBJECTIVE: This study compares two maps of biomedical sciences using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) term co-assignments versus MeSH terms of citing/cited articles and reveals similarities and differences between the two approaches. METHODS: MeSH terms assigned to 397,475 journal articles published in 2015, as well as their 4,632,992 cited references, were retrieved from Web of Science and MEDLINE databases, respectively, which formed over 7 million MeSH co-assignments and nearly 18 million direct citation pairs. We generated six network visualizations of biomedical science at three levels using Gephi software based on these MeSH co-assignments and citation pairs. RESULTS: The MeSH co-assignment map contained more nodes and edges, as MeSH co-assignments cover all medical topics discussed in articles. By contrast, the MeSH citation map contained fewer but larger nodes and wider edges, as citation links indicate connections to two similar medical topics. CONCLUSION: These two types of maps emphasize different aspects of biomedical sciences, with MeSH co-assignment maps focusing on the relationship between topics in different categories and MeSH direct citation maps providing insights into relationships between topics in the same or similar category.

Glycoside hydrolase (GH) represents a crucial category of enzymes for carbohydrate utilization in most organisms. A series of glycoside hydrolase families (GHFs) have been classified, with relevant information deposited in the CAZy database. Statistical analysis indicated that most GHFs (134 out of 154) were prone to exist in bacteria rather than archaea, in terms of both occurrence frequencies and average gene numbers. Co-occurrence analysis suggested the existence of strong or moderate-strong correlations among 63 GHFs. A combination of network analysis by Gephi and functional classification among these GHFs demonstrated the presence of 12 functional categories (from group A to L), with which the corresponding microbial collections were subsequently labeled, respectively. Interestingly, a progressive enrichment of particular GHFs was found among several types of microbes, and type-L as well as type-E microbes were deemed as functional intensified species which formed during the microbial evolution process toward efficient decomposition of lignocellulose as well as pectin, respectively. Overall, integrating network analysis and enzymatic functional classification, we were able to provide a new angle of view for GHs from known prokaryotic genomes, and thus this study is likely to guide the selection of GHs and microbes for efficient biomass utilization.

The extreme high temperature weather event caused by global warming has increased the risk of urban electric power supply. Critical risk determination method is useful to the system risk prevention and adaptive strategy formulation. Based on analyzing the failure mechanism of power supply under heat wave impact, the paper put forward the method framework of energy-flow network on electric power system risk evaluation. There are three parts in the framework including energy-flow chart analysis of power supply and consumption, establishment and network analysis of Gephi visualization network, and matrix diagram evaluation of node importance. The visualized network of power system with different years and electricity input from external area were established and compared in the case study of Beijing in China. The analysis results showed that the network structure stability of the power system decreased slightly, which was due to the node energy flow becoming high imbalance such as power input from external area, local power generation and energy consumption. For risk prevention, power infrastructures should focus on the high-voltage transmission and distribution facilities and 500 kV hub substations. Meanwhile, to electric power generation and supply, natural gas supply and power supply from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region played the key roles. And power consumption should focus on the tertiary industry and living consumption.

Social network analysis (SNA) concerns itself in studying network structures in relation to individuals' behavior. Individuals may be influenced by their network members in their behavior, and thus past researchers have developed computational methods that allow us to measure the extent to which individuals are exposed to members with certain behavior within one's social network, and that be correlated with their own behavior. Some of these methods include network exposure model, affiliation exposure model, and decomposed network exposure models. We developed a Gephi plugin that computes and visualizes these various kinds of network exposure models called NET-EXPO. We experimented with NET-EXPO on some social network datasets to demonstrate its pragmatic use in social network research. This plugin has the potential to equip researchers with a tool to compute network exposures in a user friendly way and simplify the process to compute and visualize the network data.

Although students initially learn of ionic buffering in basic chemistry, buffering and acid-base transport in biology often is relegated to specialized classes, discussions, or situations. That said, for physiology, nephrology, pulmonology, and anesthesiology, these basic principles often are critically important for mechanistic understanding, medical treatments, and assessing therapy effectiveness. This short introductory perspective focuses on basic chemistry and transport of buffers and acid-base equivalents, provides an outline of basic science acid-base concepts, tools used to monitor intracellular pH, model cellular responses to pH buffer changes, and the more recent development and use of genetically encoded pH-indicators. Examples of newer genetically encoded pH-indicators (pHerry and pHire) are provided, and their use for in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experiments are described. The continued use and development of these basic tools provide increasing opportunities for both basic and potentially clinical investigations.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the history of malpractice literature using forensic science based on a bibliometric and graph theory. METHODS: Documented data were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection of Clarivate Analytics on February 22, 2019. We selected articles for the years 1975-2018 from among documents concerning malpractice in the "Medicine, Legal" section and the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Social Sciences Citation Index. Descriptive statistics and co-occurrence analyses were performed using Microsoft Excel 2016, Gephi 0.9.2, and VOSviewer 1.6.10 software. RESULTS: In all, 379 papers and 3160 citing articles were retrieved. The most active publication year was 2013. Relative growth rate showed no malpractice explosion during the study period. Full articles comprised 83.11% of all papers. There were marked differences between the number of publications during the first 21 years and the last 23 years. More studies were published in the United States than in other countries and regions, but malpractice research has diminished during the most recent 3 years. Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics contributed the most to the field, with 51 documents. The journal with the highest impact factor, however, was Forensic Science International: Genetics. B. Madea topped the list of authors with the highest number of documents. Three clusters were identified, led by authors C. Terranova, B. Madea, and T.A. Brennan, respectively. The malpractice topics that received the most attention were malpractice claims, the types of malpractice, and the causes of medical malpractice. Our study of the citing papers also provided interesting results. CONCLUSION: This bibliometric analysis indicated that studying the field of medical malpractice was poor during 1975-2018. United States was the most prolific country, and B. Madea published more documents in the field. The studies in Medicine, Legal mostly focused on the claims, appraisement methods, and causes of medical malpractice. In the future, forensic scientists should pay more attention to medical malpractice.
