RESUMO

This study introduces the Worst Moth Disruption Strategy (WMFO) to enhance the Moth Fly Optimization (MFO) algorithm, specifically addressing challenges related to population stagnation and low diversity. The WMFO aims to prevent local trapping of moths, fostering improved global search capabilities. Demonstrating a remarkable efficiency of 66.6 %, WMFO outperforms the MFO on CEC15 benchmark test functions. The Friedman and Wilcoxon tests further confirm WMFO's superiority over state-of-the-art algorithms. Introducing a hybrid model, WMFO-MLP, combining WMFO with a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), facilitates effective parameter tuning for carbon emission prediction, achieving an outstanding total accuracy of 97.8 %. Comparative analysis indicates that the MLP-WMFO model surpasses alternative techniques in precision, reliability, and efficiency. Feature importance analysis reveals that variables such as Oil Efficiency and Economic Growth significantly impact MLP-WMFO's predictive power, contributing up to 40 %. Additionally, Gas Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Financial Risk, and Political Risk explain 26.5 %, 13.6 %, 8 %, and 6.5 %, respectively. Finally, WMFO-MLP performance offers advancements in optimization and predictive modeling with practical applications in carbon emission prediction.

RESUMO

Maruina is an aquatic genus of Psychodidae with larvae and pupae adapted for life in flowing water. The genus is restricted to the Western Hemisphere, with the majority of species distributed in the Neotropical region. 39 Maruina species are described, with 11 currently known to occur in Brazil, all recorded from the eastern Biomes of Atlantic forest and Caatinga. Here we describe four new Maruina species collected from Brazil: Maruina (Aculcina) roraimensis sp. nov., Maruina (Maruina) kallyntrona sp. nov. and M. (M.) mystax sp. nov. constitute the first report of Maruina from Amazonia and M. (A.) pila sp. nov. from the southern portion of the Atlantic forest expands the distribution of the genus to Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil. Type specimens of some described species were also studied. Redescriptions are completed for M. (M.) garota and M. (M.) namorada, and additional characters and figures are presented for M. (A.) duckhousei, M. (M.) barrettoi and M. (M.) jezeki. M. pilosella and M. spinosa are considered nomina dubia. Diagnostic characters for the genus and both subgenera are revised and distribution maps for Maruina species recorded in Brazil are provided.

RESUMO

Pericoma miljenkoi sp. nov. is described based on adult males from the Plitvicka jezera National Park, Croatia. Pericoma trifasciata is recorded from Croatia for the first time, and COI DNA barcodes are given from specimens collected in Germany. An emended key to adult Pericoma of the trifasciata group is presented. The Croatian Psychodidae fauna now stands at 35 species.

RESUMO

A new species of Sycorax Curtis, 1839 (Diptera, Psychodidae) from the Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil. Sycorax bravoi Santos, Ferreira & Falqueto sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on samples collected with a Möricke trap installed on the ground at the Biological Station of Santa Lúcia, municipality of Santa Teresa, in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo. Males have a paramere with a spiniform prolongation on the distal surface and an aedeagus with a long posterior membranous dorsal prolongation. Females have a racket-shaped genital furca and tubular spermatheca, tapered on the apical third. This finding raises the number of Sycorax species known from Brazil to seven.

Espécie nova de Sycorax Curtis, 1839 (Diptera, Psychodidae) da Mata Atlântica, sudeste do Brasil. Sycorax bravoi Santos, Ferreira & Falqueto sp. nov.
