Introduction: This study investigates the relationship between approaches to learning, self-perceived study burnout, and the level of knowledge among veterinary students. Veterinary educational programs are under regular development and would benefit greatly from detailed feedback on students' knowledge, proficiency, influencing factors, and coping mechanisms. Methods: The VetRepos consortium developed and calibrated an item repository testing knowledge across the entire veterinary curriculum. Two hundred forty-eight students from seven European veterinary institutions took the VetRepos test, comprising a subset of the repository. They also responded to a questionnaire assessing deep and unreflective learning approaches and self-perceived study burnout, represented by exhaustion and cynicism. Structural equation modeling analyzed the relationship between these latent traits and the VetRepos test score. Results: The model failed the exact-fit test but was retained based on global fit indices, inter-item residual correlations, and standardized residual covariances. Root Mean Square Error of Approximation with robust standard errors and scaled test statistic was 0.049 (95% confidence interval 0.033-0.071), scaled and robust Comparative Fit Index 0.95 (0.90-0.98), and scaled Standardized Root Mean Square Residual 0.056 (0.049-0.071). Measurement invariance across study years was not violated (ΔCFI = 0.00, χ2 = 3.78, Δdf = 4, p = 0.44), but it could not be confirmed between genders or universities. The VetRepos test score regressed on the study year [standardized regression coefficient = 0.68 (0.62-0.73)], showed a negative regression on the unreflective learning approach [-0.25 (-0.47 to -0.03)], and a positive regression on the deep approach [0.16 (0.03-0.28)]. No direct association with perceived burnout was observed; however, a significant, medium-sized association was found between the unreflective approach and self-perceived study burnout. No significant differences in learning approaches or perceived burnout were found between study years. Discussion: The most important source of variance in VetRepos test scores, unrelated to the study year, was the learning approach. The association between the VetRepos test score and self-perceived burnout was indirect. Future research should complement this cross-sectional approach with longitudinal and person-oriented studies, further investigating the relationship between study burnout and learning approaches.

Background: Natural products exhibit structural complexity, diversity, and historical therapeutic significance, boasting attractive functions and biological activities that have significantly influenced drug discovery endeavors. The identification of target proteins of active natural compounds is crucial for advancing novel drug innovation. Currently, methods for identifying targets of natural products can be categorized into labeling and label-free approaches based on whether the natural bioactive constituents are modified into active probes. In addition, there is a new avenue for rapidly exploring the targets of natural products based on their innate functions. Aim: This review aimed to summarize recent advancements in both labeling and label-free approaches to the identification of targets for natural products, as well as the novel target identification method based on the natural functions of natural products. Methods: We systematically collected relevant articles published in recent years from PubMed, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect, focusing on methods employed for identifying protein targets of bioactive natural products. Furthermore, we systematically summarized the principles, procedures, and successful cases, as well as the advantages and limitations of each method. Results: Labeling methods allow for the direct labeling of target proteins and the exclusion of indirectly targeted proteins. However, these methods are not suitable for studying post-modified compounds with abolished activity, chemically challenging synthesis, or trace amounts of natural active compounds. Label-free methods can be employed to identify targets of any natural active compounds, including trace amounts and multicomponent mixtures, but their reliability is not as high as labeling methods. The structural complementarity between natural products and their innate receptors significantly increase the opportunities for finding more promising structural analogues of the natural products, and natural products may interact with several structural analogues of receptors in humans. Conclusion: Each approach presents benefits and drawbacks. In practice, a combination of methods is employed to identify targets of natural products. And natural products' innate functions-based approach is a rapid and selective strategy for target identification. This review provides valuable references for future research in this field, offering insights into techniques and methodologies.

Purpose: Leg length discrepancy (LLD) is a common complication following total hip arthroplasty (THA). The direct anterior approach (DAA) for THA is gaining popularity due to its advantages, but there is limited research on the incidence and size of LLD. This systematic review aims to explore the differences in LLD between DAA and other approaches, as well as the techniques to control LLD in DAA. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies comparing THA by DAA with other surgical approaches and investigating methods to control LLD in DAA, following PRISMA guidelines and a priori registration on PROSPERO (CRD42023412644). The quality of the included studies was assessed. Data on preoperative and postoperative LLD and other relevant outcomes were extracted and analyzed descriptively. Results: In total, 29 studies were included in this systematic review. The majority (86%) were classified as level IV evidence. Comparisons between DAA and posterior approach (PA) or anterolateral approach (ALA) showed DAA had lower rates of LLD >10 mm compared to PA and ALA. Different pre- and intra-operative techniques were evaluated, but no consensus on the best method for preventing LLD in DAA was reached. Conclusion: DAA shows comparable or superior results in the prevention of LLD compared to other surgical approaches. Supine patient placement, direct leg measurement, and the use of IF contribute to these outcomes. Intraoperative fluoroscopy with a grid and preoperative planning offers a good option, especially for training purposes, but its role in preventing LLD by experienced DAA surgeons needs further investigation.

BACKGROUND: While study approaches have been directly associated with students' academic performance, learning environment factors may play a more indirect role. The aim of this study was (i) to assess learning environment factors as predictors of students' average exam grades, and (ii) whether study approaches mediated associations between learning environment factors and exam grades. METHODS: Three annual surveys (2017-2019) yielded data from a total of 263 Norwegian occupational therapy students. Learning environment factors were assessed with the Course Experience Questionnaire, and the Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students were used to assess study approaches. Linear regression analyses and mediation analyses were performed. RESULTS: Higher levels of 'student autonomy' were directly associated with lower averaged grades whereas higher levels of 'appropriate workload' were associated with higher averaged grades. There were statistically significant total indirect effects of 'clear goals' and 'appropriate workload' on grades; these effects occurred through the study approach variables. However, all learning environment variables showed one or more relationships with academic performance that was mediated by study approach variables. CONCLUSION: Learning environment variables appear to be complexly associated with academic performance, both directly and indirectly.

Sarcopenia is a complex age-associated syndrome of progressive loss of muscle mass and strength. Although this condition is influenced by many factors, age-related changes in immune function including immune cell dynamics, and chronic inflammation contribute to its progression. The complex interplay between the immune system, gut-muscle axis, and autophagy further underscores their important roles in sarcopenia pathogenesis. Immunomodulation has emerged as a promising strategy to counteract sarcopenia. Traditional management approaches to treat sarcopenia including physical exercise and nutritional supplementation, and the emerging technologies of biophysical stimulation demonstrated the importance of immunomodulation and regulation of macrophages and T cells and reduction of chronic inflammation. Treatments to alleviate low-grade inflammation in older adults by modulating gut microbial composition and diversity further combat sarcopenia. Furthermore, some pharmacological interventions, nano-medicine, and cell therapies targeting muscle, gut microbiota, or autophagy present additional avenues for immunomodulation in sarcopenia. This narrative review explores the immunological underpinnings of sarcopenia, elucidating the relationship between the immune system and muscle during ageing. Additionally, the review discusses new areas such as the gut-muscle axis and autophagy, which bridge immune system function and muscle health. Insights into current and potential approaches for sarcopenia management through modulation of the immune system are provided, along with suggestions for future research directions and therapeutic strategies. We aim to guide further investigation into clinical immunological biomarkers and identify indicators for sarcopenia diagnosis and potential treatment targets to combat this condition. We also aim to draw attention to the importance of considering immunomodulation in the clinical management of sarcopenia.

The complications anticipated in the postoperative period after surgical resection of lateral ventricular neoplasms (LVN) are hemorrhage, hydrocephalus. At the N.N. Burdenko Neurosurgery Center, 48 patients with LVN underwent surgical resection. We focused on the correlation between approaches to the ventricular system on one hand and the extent of resection and incidence of complications on the other based on anatomical and perfusion characteristics estimated via preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with arterial spin labeling perfusion. By eliminating the surgical approach as a potential risk factor, we were able to demonstrate the correlation between the frequency of postoperative hemorrhage, the Evans index value, patient's gender, tumor blood flow (nTBF) and the location of the mass in the anterior horn of the lateral ventricle. The risk of hemorrhage depends on the patient's gender, presence of hydrocephalus, location of the mass and tumor blood flow values. The risk increases along with increase in Evance index and nTBF values.

Research with nonnative speech spans many different linguistic branches and topics. Most studies include one or a few well-known features of a particular accent. However, due to a lack of empirical studies, little is known about how common these features are among nonnative speakers or how uncommon they are among native speakers. Moreover, it remains to be seen whether findings from such studies generalize to lesser-known features. Here, we demonstrate a quantitative approach to study nonnative accent features using Dutch-accented English as an example. By analyzing the phonetic distances between transcriptions of speech samples, this approach can identify the features that best distinguish nonnative from native speech. In addition, we describe a method to test hypotheses about accent features by checking whether the prevalence of the features overall varies between native and nonnative speakers. Furthermore, we include English speakers from the United States and United Kingdom and native Dutch speakers from Belgium and The Netherlands to address the issue of regional accent variability in both the native and target language. We discuss the results concerning three observed features. Overall, the results provide empirical support for some well-known features of Dutch-accented English, but suggest that others may be infrequent among nonnatives or in fact frequent among natives. In addition, the findings reveal potentially new accent features, and factors that may modulate the expression of known features. Our study demonstrates a fruitful approach to study nonnative accent features that has the potential to expand our understanding of the phenomenon of accent.

The dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2) represents a pivotal target for therapeutic intervention in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Parkinson's disease. The successful discovery of numerous effective DRD2 inhibitors has led to their clinical application and ongoing evaluation in various clinical trials. This review explores the synthetic approaches and clinical applications of prototypical small-molecule DRD2 inhibitors that have received approval or are currently undergoing clinical trials, highlighting their therapeutic potential and challenges. The synthesis of these inhibitors employs various chemical strategies, including modifications of phenothiazine and butyrophenone structures, which have yielded significant antipsychotic agents like chlorpromazine and haloperidol. Additionally, newer classes of inhibitors, such as aripiprazole, exhibit partial agonist activity at DRD2, offering a unique therapeutic profile. Clinically, DRD2 inhibitors demonstrate efficacy in managing positive symptoms of schizophrenia, manic episodes in bipolar disorder, and dopaminergic imbalance in Parkinson's disease. However, the emergence of adverse effects, including tardive dyskinesia, extrapyramidal symptoms and metabolic syndrome, presents substantial challenges. Advances in the development of second-generation antipsychotics aim to balance efficacy with a better side effect profile by targeting additional neurotransmitter receptors. This review aims to deliver an overview of the synthesis and clinical applications of representative small-molecule DRD2 inhibitors across various clinical phases, thereby offering strategic insights for the advancement of DRD2 inhibitor development.

Cellular DNA is constantly exposed to endogenous or exogenous factors that can induce lesions. Several types of lesions have been described that can result from UV/ionizing irradiations, oxidative stress, or free radicals, among others. In order to overcome the deleterious effects of such damages, i.e., mutagenicity or cytotoxicity, cells possess a highly complex DNA repair machinery, involving repair enzymes targeting specific types of lesions through dedicated cellular pathways. In addition, DNA is highly compacted in the nucleus, the first level of compaction consisting of ~ 147 DNA base pairs wrapped around a core of histones, the so-called nucleosome core particle. In this complex environment, the DNA structure is highly constrained, and fine-tuned mechanisms involving remodeling processes are required to expose the DNA to repair enzymes and to facilitate the damage removal. However, these nucleosome-specific mechanisms remain poorly understood, and computational methods emerged only recently as powerful tools to investigate DNA damages in such complex systems as the nucleosome. In this mini-review, we summarize the latest advances brought out by computational approaches in the field, opening new exciting perspectives for the study of DNA damage and repair in the nucleosome context.

In the past decade, there has been a significant increase in the forced migrant and refugee population in Europe. As the journey to arrive at the country of destination is mostly irregular, research has shown that forced migrants survive a number of traumatic experiences trying to reach safety and ensure the well-being of themselves and their families. Since research shows that exposure to traumatic experiences refugee and migrant families endure on their journey is severe, a systematic literature review was conducted to understand the concept of trauma-informed approaches for migrant and refugee families. A total of seven research databases have been a part of this study, and the search resulted in 45 papers that were analyzed and their results presented. The following inclusion criteria were considered: (a) migrant/refugee families living with their children and (b) migrant/refugee families approaching care (health, social, educational, legal). Inclusion criteria refer to phenomenological studies, consider trauma/resilience of migrant/refugee families, include studies that are published in English language only; published literature only; 2013 onwards, and only full-text studies. The results of this analysis imply that papers are more focused on the experiences of trauma than on the approaches to treat it. However, this analysis did result in identifying approaches, interventions, and tools in working with trauma refugee and migrant families. Trauma-informed approaches for forced migrant families require a culturally adapted response provided across all sectors of family support to refugees and migrants.

Recognizing the real-life impact of racial stress on physical and psychological health is vital for creating impactful health promotion interventions among African American families. Despite the known link between racial stress and poor physical health outcomes, no existing intervention to date has targeted stress management strategies to buffer racial stress and build positive health behaviors among African American families. The current study outlines the lessons learned throughout the development of the Linking Exercise for Advancing Daily Stress (LEADS) Management and Resilience program, a 10-week family-based health promotion, stress management, and resilience intervention that aimed to improve physical activity, healthy eating, and well-being among African American adolescents and parents. We highlight the evolution of the LEADS intervention from a health promotion and stress management intervention to a culturally salient health promotion, stress management, and resilience intervention utilizing community-based participatory research strategies. This paper chronicles our systematic journey in making those changes and the lessons we learned along the way. We provide specific recommendations and implications for future health promotion interventions developed for African American families. Overall, we argue for a research orientation that respects cultural and racial contexts, embraces diversity within research teams and self-reflection, recognizes the heterogeneity among African American populations, and applies strength-based approaches.

AIM(S): To identify and summarize evidence on paediatric patient safety in a hospital setting from parents' point of view. DESIGN: A mixed-methods systematic review. PROSPERO ID: ID number CRD42023453626. DATA SOURCES: PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, the Cochrane Library and the Wiley database were searched in July 2023. REVIEW METHODS: Two researchers independently applied eligibility criteria, selected studies and conducted a quality appraisal. Data-based convergent synthesis and thematic content analysis were employed. RESULTS: Twelve studies were included: eight qualitative research studies, two cross-sectional studies, one non-randomized experimental study and one mixed-methods study. The results were grouped into two themes-parental perceptions of inclusion in paediatric patient safety and parental perceptions of exclusion from paediatric patient safety-and comprised seven main subthemes: comfort in communication, parental engagement, communication difficulties, withdrawal from activity, uncertainty about available information and threats to patient safety. CONCLUSIONS: Parents are willing to be engaged in care but require support from healthcare professionals, as they are often anxious about the condition of their children and actions they believe might be helpful. They need to be treated as valuable partners and be engaged in communication and decision processes. IMPACT: The development and implementation of interventions involving parents in ensuring the safety of hospitalized paediatric patients should be of the utmost priority to healthcare organizations, as the common theme throughout the included studies was the need for improved communication with and recognition of parents as allies. BACKGROUND: Emotional labour (EL) can take a significant toll on nurses' mental health and well-being and has serious implications for the retention of nurses in the workforce. Nurse educators have struggled to prepare novices to manage EL or find serviceable resources with which to do so within the body of nursing literature, which is dominated by essentially unhelpful narratives and is absent of the practical, real-world wisdom of elder nurses. PURPOSE: This exploratory research study illuminated elder nurses' experiential knowledge and beliefs of what is important for novices to learn about EL. METHODS: Conventional Content Analysis (CCA) of qualitative survey data from 688 nurses with 20+ years of experience. RESULTS: CCA generated descriptive categories and sub-categories: What the elders themselves learned as student nurses, and their advice to novices in the individual realm, ("It's a Thing," healthy disengagement, supporting mental and physical well-being, reframing self-reproach), team realm (peer support, mentors), and institutional realm (structural barriers to mentors' support of novices, building novices' capacities for self-advocacy, resources to support health and well-being). CONCLUSIONS: The elders' data confronted and reframed legacy individuated narratives in the literature by supporting and contextualizing nurses' emotional work. Elders advised novices that EL is a reality requiring concrete strategies to manage it throughout their practices. Elders extended their focus for management of EL beyond the individual to include peer support, mentorship, and the structural conditions in which nurses perform their EL, highlighting the need to empower nurses by building their capacity for self-advocacy of their workers' rights.

The integration of trauma-informed and ethical frameworks in qualitative research concerning survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) within displaced communities is critical. These individuals often bear the weight of traumatic experiences compounded by displacement and associated hardships. Adopting a trauma-informed approach establishes a safe environment, prioritizing survivors' well-being and respecting their agency and narratives, thereby fostering trust and reducing re-traumatization risks. Ethical considerations ensure the dignity, rights, and cultural sensitivities of participants are upheld, contributing to rigorous and humane research. This integration amplifies survivors' voices and experiences, enhancing understanding and empathy. Trauma-informed approaches acknowledge the likelihood of trauma in individuals' lives and prioritize safety without aiming to treat symptoms. Proficient interviewing skills aim to improve comfort, safety, and recall without avoiding challenging questions. Integration of trauma-informed principles across all interview phases is crucial, particularly for individuals experiencing various traumas simultaneously, such as displacement, violence, and ongoing conflict. Drawing from the authors' experiences and existing literature, this paper advocates for a compassionate and empowering shift in qualitative research methodologies to better engage with survivors of trauma and GBV within displaced communities.

This review explores the pivotal role of angiogenesis in breast cancer progression and treatment. It covers biomarkers, imaging techniques, therapeutic approaches, resistance mechanisms, and clinical implications. Key topics include Vascular Endothelial Growth Factors, angiopoietins, microRNA signatures, and circulating endothelial cells as biomarkers, along with Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography Angiography, Ultrasound, and Positron Emission Tomography for imaging. Therapeutic strategies targeting VEGF, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and the intersection of angiogenesis with immunotherapy are discussed. Challenges such as resistance mechanisms and personalized medicine approaches are addressed. Clinical implications, prognostic value, and the future direction of angiogenesis-targeted therapies are highlighted. The article concludes with reflections on the transformative potential of understanding angiogenesis.

CONTEXT: Owning livestock can support women's empowerment and progress toward gender-equitable agri-food systems. Gender inequality, however, can reduce women's ownership of livestock and access to animal vaccines. Gender accommodative approaches (GAAs), and more recently gender transformative approaches (GTAs), are increasingly implemented in development interventions. However, their impact on women's empowerment has not been systematically tested. Here, we describe the 'Women Rear Project', implemented in northern Ghana between 2019 and 2023, and assess the impact of GTAs and GAAs on women's empowerment, ownership of livestock, and access to animal vaccines. OBJECTIVE: We sought to systematically assess changes conferred by GAAs and GTAs on gender norms and women's empowerment and access to animal vaccines. METHODS: Using a mixed-methods approach, in 2021 and 2023 we collected quantitative and qualitative data regarding women's empowerment, gender norms, and access to animal vaccines. Qualitative data regarding women's and men's conceptualizations of gender norms and women's empowerment were obtained via focus group discussions and key informant interviews. Quantitative survey data were obtained from 500 households, using the Women's Empowerment in Livestock Index (WELI). Quantitative data on livelihood indicators were also collected, using the Rural Household Multi-Indicator Survey (RHoMIS) tool. We systematically assessed changes between baseline (2021) and endline (2023) in local conceptualizations of empowerment in the livestock sector, the effects of GTAs and GAAs on such conceptualizations, and how empowerment was experienced by women and men and the implications for women's access to animal vaccines. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Local conceptualizations of empowerment in 2021, among both women and men, emphasized financial independence, decision-making autonomy, self-reliance, and problem-solving skills. In 2023, this conceptualization of empowerment had expanded to include the ability to act without external restrictions; women were empowered by managing resources, running successful businesses, and making decisions in consultation with their husbands. Furthermore, women in communities where GTAs had been enacted scored significantly higher in empowerment compared with women in communities where only GAAs had been introduced. Gender norms impacted empowerment indicators, with respect among household members and autonomy in income both contributing to disempowerment. Gender norms also affected respondents' reporting. Women's access to livestock vaccines was more positive in GTA/GAA communities. We recommend efforts are made to reduce restrictive gender norms and enhance women's empowerment and access to resources such as animal vaccines. RESUMO

Smart materials are upcoming in many industries due to their unique properties and wide range of applicability. These materials have the potential to transform traditional engineering practices by enabling the development of more efficient, adaptive, and responsive systems. However, smart materials are characterized by nonlinear behaviour and complex constitutive models, posing challenges in modelling and simulation. Therefore, understanding their mechanical properties is crucial for model-based design. This review aims for advancements in numerically implementing various smart materials, especially focusing on their nonlinear deformation behaviours. Different mechanisms and functionalities, classification, constitutive models and applications of smart materials were analyzed. In addition, different numerical approaches for modelling across scales were investigated. This review also explored the strategies and implementations for mechanically intelligent structures using smart materials. In conclusion, the potential model-based design methodology for the multiple smart material-based structures is proposed, which provides guidance for the future development of mechanically intelligent structures in industrial applications.

This study provides a comprehensive overview of hereditary hemochromatosis (HH), a genetic condition characterized by iron overload due to excessive iron absorption. It elucidates diverse inheritance patterns and clinical manifestations by exploring mutations in critical genes such as HFE (hemochromatosis), HJV (hemojuvelin), HAMP (hepcidin antimicrobial peptide), TfR2 (transferrin receptor 2), and FP (ferroportin). The significance of early screening, diagnosis, and personalized management strategies based on genetic classification is emphasized, particularly in terms of high-income vs. low-income countries. Addressing challenges in diagnosis, genetic testing accessibility, and healthcare disparities, the study highlights the importance of early detection, cost-effective screening strategies, and enhancing healthcare outcomes globally. Advanced genetic testing in high-income countries facilitates early diagnosis and management, reducing complications such as liver disease and cardiomyopathy. In contrast, low-income populations face several barriers, including limited access to genetic testing, high costs, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure. Cost-effective serum ferritin (SF) and transferrin saturation (TS) tests and emerging point-of-care (POC) tests offer affordable diagnostic options for low-resource settings. Additionally, the ongoing development of hepcidin measurement methods holds promise for enhancing diagnostic capabilities. Implementing these strategies can aid healthcare providers in improving global HH management and reducing the burden of iron overload complications. Furthermore, the study underscores the need for public health initiatives to raise awareness about HH, promote routine screenings, and advocate for equitable healthcare policies. Collaborative efforts between governments, healthcare organizations, and research institutions are crucial in addressing the global burden of HH. By fostering international cooperation and resource-sharing, it is possible to bridge the gap between high-income and low-income countries, ensuring all individuals have access to the necessary diagnostic and treatment options. This holistic approach can ultimately lead to better health outcomes and improved quality of life for individuals affected by HH worldwide. This comprehensive examination of HH not only illuminates the genetic and clinical aspects of the condition but also provides a roadmap for addressing the multifaceted challenges associated with its diagnosis and management.

PURPOSE: Hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) is reported in up to 40% of people with stroke. Causes of HSP are often multifactorial. To inform appropriate treatment, reliable/valid assessments are critical. The aim of this scoping review was to collate assessment approaches used in studies where the primary outcome was HSP, and to identify how frequently each assessment approach was used. METHODS: A systematic search, including studies from 2000-2023 was conducted of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, AMED, Biomed Central, and Cochrane Library databases, with four key terms used: "assess", "stroke", "pain" and "shoulder". All primary studies published in English language fulfilling the reviews inclusion criteria were included. Six reviewers extracted the data. RESULTS: A total of 29 assessment methods for HSP were identified from 124 studies. The common assessments were: Visual Analogue Scale (n = 75, 60%), Passive Range of Movement (n = 65, 52%), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (n = 32, 26%), glenohumeral subluxation (n = 30, 24%) and Numerical Rating Scale (n = 27, 22%). CONCLUSION: A wide range of assessment approaches was identified for HSP, and some are used more than others. A fully comprehensive assessment that considers different aspects of pain including severity and timing, functioning, and the psychological burden, is needed in this area of practice to be able to guide appropriate treatment.


Hemiplegic shoulder pain is reported in up to 40% of people with stroke and a wide range of assessments approaches are reported in the literature.Simple questioning about shoulder pain may not be adequate for providing the best clinical care to patients and an ideal assessment approach would be one that takes into consideration both quantitative and qualitative information.Until a new measure is developed, the four common assessments reported (Visual Analogue Scale; Passive Range of Movement; Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Numerical Rating Scale) should be used in combination.

Accurate crop yield predictions are crucial for farmers and policymakers. Despite the widespread use of ensemble machine learning (ML) models in computer science, their application in crop yield prediction remains relatively underexplored. This study, conducted in Canada, aims to assess the potential of five distinct ensemble ML models-Adaptive Boosting (AdaBoost), Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), XGBoost, LightGBM, and Random Forest (RF)-in predicting crop yields chosen for their ability to manage complex datasets and their strong performance potential. The study integrated various factors, including climate variables, satellite-derived vegetation indices, soil characteristics, and honeybee census data. Data preparation comprised two main steps: first, climate variables were interpolated and averaged for croplands in ArcGIS Pro, along with averaging vegetation indices and soil characteristics. Honeybee census data was also incorporated. Second, the data was organized in Python to create a structured format for models' input. The models' accuracy was assessed using Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), R-squared, and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). XGBoost emerged as the most accurate model, with the lowest MAE (68.70 for canola and 39.47 for soybeans), lowest RMSE (119.48 for canola and 102.39 for soybeans), and highest R-squared values (0.95 for canola and 0.96 for soybeans) on the test dataset. The study also assessed crop yields under various climate change scenarios, finding minimal variations across the scenarios, but significant negative impacts on canola and soybean yields across Canada. Honeybee colonies were identified as the most influential factor on crop yields, contributing 52.34 % to canola and 57.18 % to soybean yields. This research provides detailed crop yield maps of canola and soybeans at the Census Consolidated Subdivisions (CCS) level across Canada's agricultural landscape, offering valuable forecasts for localized decision-making. Additionally, it offers a proactive strategy for climate change preparedness, assisting farmers and stakeholders optimise resource allocation and manage risks effectively.
