OBJECTIVES: Integrating vaccination services with other essential health services could increase vaccination rates among socially marginalized populations. We examined the associations between colocation of vaccines at syringe service programs and COVID-19 vaccination status among people who inject drugs and people experiencing houselessness. METHODS: This study included 1891 participants aged ≥18 years at 9 sites in Oregon from July 2021 through March 2022. Participants self-reported whether they had ever received ≥1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. We calculated site-level COVID-19 vaccine availability and overall vaccination rates. We compared site-level vaccination rates and analyzed the association between vaccine availability and vaccination status. RESULTS: We found no significant difference in vaccination rates between sites that did and did not offer COVID-19 vaccines (t7 = -0.33; P = .75). We also found no significant association between vaccine availability and vaccination status. However, the odds of having received a COVID-19 vaccine were 2.79 times higher for each additional site visit during which COVID-19 vaccines were available (odds ratio [OR] = 2.79; 95% CI, 2.18-3.58; P < .001). The association between vaccine availability and vaccine status was not moderated by participant age (OR = 1.03; 95% CI, 0.99-1.07; P = .13) or housing instability (OR = 0.59; 95% CI, 0.13-2.60; P = .48). CONCLUSIONS: Colocating COVID-19 vaccines at syringe service programs was only positively associated with vaccination status if vaccines were offered frequently on-site. Future work should examine whether the frequency of offering vaccination services increases willingness to engage in vaccination and examine trust and convenience as potential mechanisms.

This article examines staff and client perspectives on an initiative providing co-located specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) financial counseling in women's legal services. An exploratory mixed-method study in five service locations captured perspectives via a client survey (n = 42), online interviews with staff (n = 15), and a review of services' progress reports. For staff and clients, integrating financial counseling into women's legal services contributed to a more comprehensive model of support which helped address the economic harms associated with violence. Findings highlight the benefits of service integration and co-location, which enabled staff to share knowledge and build capacity, and helped improve outcomes for women following violence.

Co-located infrastructure networks such as road, water, and sewer in theory offer the possibility for integrated multi-infrastructure interventions. However, how closely these networks are aligned in space and time determines the practical extent to which such coordinated interventions can be realized. This study quantifies the spatial alignment of the aforementioned infrastructure networks and demonstrates its application for integrated interventions and potential cost savings. It proposes two metrics, namely 1) shared surface area and, 2) shared trench volume, to quantify the spatial relationship (i.e., degree of co-location) of infrastructures. Furthermore, the study demonstrates how the degree of co-location can be used as a proxy for cost-saving potential of integrated interventions compared to silo-based, single-infrastructure, interventions. Through six case studies conducted in Norwegian municipalities, the research reveals that implementing integrated interventions across road, water, and sewer networks can result in potential average cost savings of 24% in urban areas and 11% in rural areas. Utility-specific savings under different cost-sharing scenarios were also analysed. To identify the yearly potential of integrated multi-infrastructure interventions, future work should add the temporal alignment of rehabilitation of infrastructures (i.e., time of intervention need for the infrastructures).

Introduction: Emerging research suggests that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors may play a pivotal role in the treatment of primary glomerular diseases. This study was aimed to investigate potential pharmacological targets connecting SGLT2 inhibitors with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and membranous nephropathy (MN). Methods: A univariate Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted using publicly available genome-wide association studies (GWAS) datasets. Co-localization analysis was used to identify potential connections between target genes and IgAN and MN. Then, Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) was employed to predict diseases associated with these target genes and SGLT2 inhibitors (canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, and empagliflozin). Subsequently, phenotypic scan analyses were applied to explore the causal relationships between the predicted diseases and target genes. Finally, we analyzed the immune signaling pathways involving pharmacological target genes using the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG). Results: The results of MR analysis revealed that eight drug targets were causally linked to the occurrence of IgAN, while 14 drug targets were linked to MN. In the case of IgAN, LCN2 and AGER emerged as co-localized genes related to the pharmacological agent of dapagliflozin and the occurrence of IgAN. LCN2 was identified as a risk factor, while AGER was exhibited a protective role. KEGG analysis revealed that LCN2 is involved in the interleukin (IL)-17 immune signaling pathway, while AGER is associated with the neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) signaling immune pathway. No positive co-localization results of the target genes were observed between two other SGLT2 inhibitors (canagliflozin and empagliflozin) and the occurrence of IgAN, nor between the three SGLT2 inhibitors and the occurrence of MN. Conclusion: Our study provided evidence supporting a causal relationship between specific SGLT2 inhibitors and IgAN. Furthermore, we found that dapagliflozin may act on IgAN through the genes LCN2 and AGER.

It is often argued that certain metaphysical complications surrounding the phenomenon of monozygotic twinning force us to conclude that, prior to the point at which twinning is no longer possible, the zygote or early embryo cannot be considered an individual human organism. In this essay, I argue, on the contrary, that there are in fact several ways of making sense of monozygotic twinning that uphold the humanity of the original zygote, but also that there is no easy answer to what happens when the human zygote twins. All of the options available carry with them one or more surprising, alarming, or otherwise counterintuitive implications. All things considered, I conclude that the "budding option," according to which the original human organism present before twinning carries on as one of the resulting embryos but not the other, is the most plausible explanation of what happens when a human zygote twins.

OBJECTIVES: Naloxone is an effective medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. Distributing naloxone directly to those at risk, therefore, reduces the risk of opioid-related deaths. New legislation in Australia means a prescription is no longer required to access naloxone. Whilst acknowledging the benefits of increased access, we aim to evaluate the impact psychiatrists can have on naloxone provision due to their unique position as doctors often working with those who may be at risk. METHODS: Data was recorded on those accessing naloxone from a co-located addiction and mental health service. Descriptive statistics were generated to establish the cohort characteristics, prior knowledge of naloxone and outcome of previously supplied naloxone. RESULTS: Naloxone was dispensed 488 times from 2021 to 2023. 267 people had previously been prescribed naloxone from these sites where 137 (51.3%) were reportedly used in an opioid reversal. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight the importance of community access to naloxone in reducing opioid-related harm. Whilst removing the need for a prescription makes naloxone more accessible, it remains vital that doctors remain involved in this process to broaden the reach of supply to those at risk.

To mitigate the effects of climate change, a significant percentage of future energy generation is set to come from renewable energy sources. This has led to a substantial increase of installed offshore wind in the North Sea in the last years (28 GW in 2021) and is projected to further accelerate to an installed capacity of 212 GW by 2050. Increasing the renewable energy grid penetration brings challenges, including 1) limitations in space availability and 2) the reliability of renewable energy systems in terms of grid balancing. In the North Sea, maritime space is getting scarce and the projected upscaling of offshore wind is putting pressure on the chemical-, biological, and physical balance of the marine ecosystem. Without economically viable large-scale storage systems, a renewable energy system focused on one intermittent source does not provide reliable baseload- and energy demand compliance. By integrating different supplementary offshore renewable energy sources into multi-source parks output becomes smoother, while the energy yield per area increases. Despite multiple studies stating the benefits of multi-source energy parks of either wind and wave energy or wind and PV energy, no study has been conducted on the co-location of all three offshore renewables. This study combines and analyzes the three offshore renewable energy sources: wave-, offshore PV- and wind energy in the example of Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden, a future wind farm north of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The additional renewables are allocated within the wind turbine spacing, taking into account safety zones and maintenance corridors. Co-location of these renewables increases the extracted energy density by 22%, making more efficient use of the limited available marine space. Moreover, the park output becomes smoother as the yearly-averaged coefficient of variation decreases by 13%, the capacity factor with respect to the export cable increases by 19%, and the hours where the output of the park is below 20% of the export cable capacity decreases by 86.5%.

Spatial association rule mining can reveal the inherent laws of spatial object interdependence and is an important part of spatial data mining. Most of the existing algorithms for mining local spatial association rules are oriented towards the spatial association between two categories of points and cannot fully reflect the spatial heterogeneity of complex spatial relations among multiple categories of points. In addition, the interactions between points in different categories are often asymmetrical. However, the existing algorithms ignore this asymmetry. To address the above problems, an algorithm for mining local spatial association rules for point data of multiple categories based on position quotients is proposed. First, the proximity relationship between points is determined by an adaptive filter, and the spatial weight value is given according to Gaussian kernel function. Then, the multivariate local colocation quotient of each point is calculated to measure the strength of the local regional spatial association rule. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulation function is used to generate a random sample distribution to test the significance of the results. The algorithm is verified on artificial simulation data and real Point of Interest (POI) data. The experimental results show that the algorithm can identify significant association regions of different spatial association rules for point sets.

BACKGROUND: Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular protozoan parasite that can infect a wide range of warm-blooded animals, including humans. It poses significant health risks, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and during pregnancy, leading to severe disease manifestations. The liver, being a crucial organ involved in immune response and metabolic regulation, plays a critical role in the host's defense against T. gondii infection. METHODS: In this study, we utilized RNA sequencing to investigate the expression profiles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in the liver of mice infected with T. gondii. By employing this method, we obtained a comprehensive overview of the alterations in gene expression occurring in the liver during infection. RESULTS: By comparing the infected groups to the control groups, we identified numerous differentially expressed lncRNAs DElncRNAs and DEmRNAs at two stages of infection. Specifically, at the acute infection stage, we found 628 DElncRNAs, and 6346 DEmRNAs. At the chronic infection stage, we identified 385 DElncRNAs and 2513 DEmRNAs. Furthermore, we identified 1959 commonly expressed DEmRNAs, including IL27, Nos2, and Cxcr2, across two infection stages. Enrichment and co-location analyses revealed pathways linked to immune and inflammatory responses during T. gondii infection. Notably, through co-location analysis, our analysis revealed several DElncRNAs, including Gm29156, Gm29157, and Gm28644, which are potentially implicated in the progression of liver inflammation induced by T. gondii. Additionally, functional enrichment analysis disclosed stage-specific characteristics of liver inflammation and immune response, alongside changes in metabolic regulation and immunosuppression pathways. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide valuable insights into the expression patterns of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the liver at different stages of T. gondii infection. We identified potential regulatory factors and pathways implicated in liver inflammation, thereby enhancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying liver inflammation and immune responses during T. gondii infection. These findings could contribute to the development of targeted therapeutic strategies for liver inflammation in the context of T. gondii infection.

BACKGROUND: Welfare advice services co-located in health settings are known to improve financial security. However, little is known on how to effectively evaluate these services. This study aims to explore the feasibility of evaluating a welfare advice service co-located in a primary care setting in a deprived and ethnically diverse population. It seeks to investigate whether the proposed evaluation tools and processes are acceptable and feasible to implement and whether they are able to detect any evidence of promise for this intervention on the mental health, wellbeing and financial security of participants. METHODS: An uncontrolled before and after study design was utilised. Data on mental health, wellbeing, quality of life and financial outcomes were collected at baseline prior to receiving welfare advice and at three months follow-up. Multiple logistic and linear regression models were used to explore individual differences in self-reported financial security and changes to mental health, wellbeing and quality of life scores before and after the provision of welfare advice. RESULTS: Overall, the majority of key outcome measures were well completed, indicating participant acceptability of the mental health, wellbeing, quality of life and financial outcome measures used in this population. There was evidence suggestive of an improvement in participant financial security and evidence of promise for improvements in measured wellbeing and health-related quality of life for participants accessing services in a highly ethnically diverse population. Overall, the VCS Alliance welfare advice programme generated a total of £21,823.05 for all participants, with participants gaining an average of £389.70 per participant for participants with complete financial outcome data. CONCLUSIONS: This research demonstrates the feasibility of evaluating a welfare advice service co-located in primary care in a deprived and ethnically diverse setting utilising the ascribed mental health, wellbeing and quality of life and financial outcome tools. It provides evidence of promise to support the hypothesis that the implementation of a welfare advice service co-located in a health setting can improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.

How to successfully integrate mental health and primary care remains a critically important question given the continued morbidity and early mortality of people with serious mental illness. This study investigated integration in a community mental health center (MHC) primarily treating people with SMI in a large, urban northeastern city where an on-site primary care center (PCC) was opened resulting in co-located mental health and primary care services being provided. Using focus groups and online surveys this study asked participants about their thoughts and interactions with the on-site PCC. Participants included staff from clinical, non-clinical, and leadership roles in the mental health center (MHC; PCC staff; and MHC clients who did not use the on-site PCC). MHC staff also offered their thoughts about and experiences with the on-site PCC one year and two years after the on-site PCC opened through an on-line survey. In both methods, staff reported limited awareness and expectations of the PCC in the first year. Staff indicated that successful care integration goes beyond co-location and peer health navigation can enhance integration. Finally, staff discussed desires for enhancing care integration and co-located services into a medical home that included communicating across medical records and providers at different agencies. Our results suggest that, in addition to the previously researched three C's of care integration (consultation, coordination, and collaboration), two more C's were essential to successful care integration: co-location and communication. Communication across medical records and providers at different agencies was an essential component of care integration, and co-location added increased ability to communicate across providers.

Integrated long-term, in-situ observations are needed to document ongoing environmental change, to "ground-truth" remote sensing and model outputs and to predict future Earth system behaviour. The scientific and societal value of in-situ observations increases with site representativeness, temporal duration, number of parameters measured and comparability within and across sites. Research Infrastructures (RIs) can support harmonised, cross-site data collection, curation and publication. Integrating RI networks through site co-location and standardised observation methods can help answers three questions about the terrestrial carbon sink: (i) What are present and future carbon sequestration rates in northern European forests? (ii) How are these rates controlled? (iii) Why do the observed patterns exist? Here, we present a conceptual model for RI co-location and highlight potential insights into the terrestrial carbon sink achievable when long-term in-situ Earth observation sites participate in multiple RI networks (e.g., ICOS and eLTER). Finally, we offer recommendations to promote RI co-location.

BACKGROUND: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) play crucial roles in regulating various physiological and pathological processes. However, the role of lncRNAs and mRNAs in mediating the liver response during Toxocara canis infection remains incompletely understood. METHODS: In the present study, the expression profile of lncRNAs and mRNAs was investigated in the liver of Beagle dogs infected by T. canis using high-throughput RNA sequencing. RESULTS: Compared with the control groups, 876 differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs and 288 DEmRNAs were identified at 12 h post-infection (hpi), 906 DElncRNAs and 261 DEmRNAs were identified at 24 hpi, and 876 DElncRNAs and 302 DEmRNAs were identified at 36 days post-infection (dpi). A total of 16 DEmRNAs (e.g. dpp4, crp and gnas) were commonly identified at the three infection stages. Enrichment and co-localization analyses identified several pathways involved in immune and inflammatory responses during T. canis infection. Some novel DElncRNAs, such as LNC_015756, LNC_011050 and LNC_011052, were also associated with immune and inflammatory responses. Also, LNC_005105 and LNC_005401 were associated with the secretion of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which may play a role in the healing of liver pathology at the late stage of infection. CONCLUSIONS: Our data provided new insight into the regulatory roles of lncRNAs and mRNAs in the pathogenesis of T. canis and improved our understanding of the contribution of lncRNAs and mRNAs to the immune and inflammatory response of the liver during T. canis infection.

Aberrant expression of G-protein-coupled receptor 158 (GPR158) has been reported to be inextricably linked to a variety of diseases affecting the central nervous system, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), depression, intraocular pressure, and glioma, but the underlying mechanism remains elusive due to a lack of biological and pharmacological tools to elaborate its preferential cellular distribution and molecular interaction network. To assess the cellular localization, expression, and function of GPR158, we generated an epitope-tagged GPR158 mouse model (GPR158Tag) that exhibited normal motor, cognitive, and social behavior, no deficiencies in social memory, and no anxiety-like behavior compared to C57BL/6J control mice at P60. Using immunofluorescence, we found that GPR158+ cells were distributed in several brain regions including the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum, and caudate putamen. Next, using the cerebral cortex of the adult GPR158Tag mice as a representative region, we found that GPR158 was only expressed in neurons, and not in microglia, oligodendrocytes, or astrocytes. Remarkably, the majority of GPR158 was enriched in Camk2a+ neurons whilst limited expression was found in PV+ interneurons. Concomitant 3D co-localization analysis revealed that GPR158 was mainly distributed in the postsynaptic membrane, but with a small portion in the presynaptic membrane. Lastly, via mass spectrometry analysis, we identified proteins that may interact with GPR158, and the relevant enrichment pathways were consistent with the immunofluorescence findings. RNA-seq analysis of the cerebral cortex of the GPR158-/- mice showed that GPR158 and its putative interacting proteins are involved in the chloride channel complex and synaptic vesicle membrane composition. Using these GPR158Tag mice, we were able to accurately label GPR158 and uncover its fundamental function in synaptic vesicle function and memory. Thus, this model will be a useful tool for subsequent biological, pharmacological, and electrophysiological studies related to GPR158.

BACKGROUND: There is a sharp contradiction between the supply and demand of medical resources in the provincial capitals of China. Understanding the spatial patterns of medical resources and identifying their spatial association and heterogeneity is a prerequisite to ensuring that limited resources are allocated fairly and optimally, which, along with improvements to urban residents' quality of life, is a key aim of healthy city planning. However, the existing studies on medical resources pattern mainly focus on their spatial distribution and evolution characteristics, and lack the analyses of the spatial co-location between medical resources from the global and local perspectives. It is worth noting that the research on the spatial relationship between medical resources is an important way to realize the spatial equity and operation efficiency of urban medical resources. METHODS: Localized colocation quotient (LCLQ) analysis has been used successfully to measure directional spatial associations and heterogeneity between categorical point data. Using point of interest (POI) data and the LCLQ method, this paper presents the first analysis of spatial patterns and directional spatial associations between six medical resources across Wuhan city. RESULTS: (1) Pharmacies, clinics and community hospitals show "multicentre + multicircle", "centre + axis + dot" and "banded" distribution characteristics, respectively, but specialized hospitals and general hospitals present "single core" and "double core" modes. (2) Overall, medical resources show agglomeration characteristics. The degrees of spatial agglomeration of the five medical resources, are ranked from high to low as follows: pharmacy, clinic, community hospital, special hospital, general hospital and 3A hospital. (3) Although pharmacies, clinics, and community hospitals of basic medical resources are interdependent, specialized hospitals, general hospitals and 3A hospitals of professional medical resources are also interdependent; furthermore, basic medical resources and professional medical resources are mutually exclusive. CONCLUSIONS: Government and urban planners should pay great attention to the spatial distribution characteristics and association intensity of medical resources when formulating relevant policies. The findings of this study contribute to health equity and health policy discussions around basic medical services and professional medical services.

BACKGROUND: Renewed efforts by the Nigerian government to address malnutrition have led to nutrition actions by several sectors, including the agriculture sector. However, the success of these actions depends on the characteristics of the stakeholders involved, including their relationships and coordination. OBJECTIVE: This article reports a 2015 study of nutrition-sensitive agricultural stakeholders in Nigeria that assessed what the stakeholders do, where they work and how they are organized to improve nutrition. The study provides a baseline for assessing progress and measuring stakeholder and coordination changes in the Nigerian nutrition-sensitive agriculture landscape. METHODS: Semi-structured interviews (n = 17) and focus group discussions (n = 2) were held with federal, state, and local government level stakeholders; reviews of stakeholder program documents were also conducted. RESULTS: The study identified 7 groups of nutrition-sensitive agriculture stakeholders and several coordination challenges. Political leadership, advocacy and provision of material and human resource support by nongovernmental organizations, and donor interest and funding have been vital for mobilizing nutrition-sensitive agriculture. Still, although stakeholders frequently highlighted that nutrition was an important consideration in their interventions, nutrition goals and activities and/or indicators to measure outcomes were not regularly communicated. Also, while coordination mechanisms existed, there appeared to be minimal actual cross-sectoral partnerships because of inadequate trust, competition, and conflicts over institutional turf and mandates. CONCLUSIONS: Needed enablers for improving nutrition-sensitive agriculture in Nigeria included improved stakeholder nutrition literacy, as well as enhanced stakeholder engagement facilitated by role definition, clarification, and consensus. Exploring different approaches to coordination may also be necessary.

Introduction: COVID-19, being a new type of infectious disease, holds significant implications for scientific prevention and control to understand its spatiotemporal transmission process. This study examines the diverse spatial patterns of COVID-19 within Wuhan by analyzing early case data alongside urban infrastructure information. Methods: Through co-location analysis, we assess both local and global spatial risks linked to the epidemic. In addition, we use the Geodetector, identifying facilities displaying unique spatial risk characteristics, revealing factors contributing to heightened risk. Results: Our findings unveil a noticeable spatial distribution of COVID-19 in the city, notably influenced by road networks and functional zones. Higher risk levels are observed in the central city compared to its outskirts. Specific facilities such as parking, residence, ATM, bank, entertainment, and hospital consistently exhibit connections with COVID-19 case sites. Conversely, facilities like subway station, dessert restaurant, and movie theater display a stronger association with case sites as distance increases, hinting at their potential as outbreak focal points. Discussion: Despite our success in containing the recent COVID-19 outbreak, uncertainties persist regarding its origin and initial spread. Some experts caution that with increased human activity, similar outbreaks might become more frequent. This research provides a comprehensive analytical framework centered on urban facilities, contributing quantitatively to understanding their impact on the spatial risks linked with COVID-19 outbreaks. It enriches our understanding of the interconnectedness between urban facility distribution and transportation flow, affirming and refining the distance decay law governing infectious disease risks. Furthermore, the study offers practical guidance for post-epidemic urban planning, promoting the development of safer urban environments resilient to epidemics. It equips government bodies with a reliable quantitative analysis method for more accurately predicting and assessing infectious disease risks. In conclusion, this study furnishes both theoretical and empirical support for tailoring distinct strategies to prevent and control COVID-19 epidemics.

Human mobility analysis plays a crucial role in urban analysis, city planning, epidemic modeling, and even understanding neighborhood effects on individuals' health. Often, these studies model human mobility in the form of co-location networks. We have recently seen the tremendous success of network representation learning models on several machine learning tasks on graphs. To the best of our knowledge, limited attention has been paid to identifying communities using network representation learning methods specifically for co-location networks. We attempt to address this problem and study user mobility behavior through the communities identified with latent node representations. Specifically, we select several diverse network representation learning models to identify communities from a real-world co-location network. We include both general-purpose representation models that make no assumptions on network modality as well as approaches designed specifically for human mobility analysis. We evaluate these different methods on data collected in the Adolescent Health and Development in Context (AHDC) study. Our experimental analysis reveals that a recently proposed method (LocationTrails) offers a competitive advantage over other methods with respect to its ability to represent and reflect community assignment that is consistent with extant findings regarding neighborhood racial and socio-economic differences in mobility patterns. We also compare the learned activity profiles of individuals by factoring in their residential neighborhoods. Our analysis reveals a significant contrast in the activity profiles of individuals residing in white-dominated vs. black-dominated neighborhoods and advantaged vs. disadvantaged neighborhoods in a major metropolitan city of United States. We provide a clear rationale for this contrastive pattern through insights from the sociological literature.

School nutrition programs (SNP) provide much needed access to fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods at low or no cost. Yet, the infrastructure of school kitchens and cafeteria vary across schools, potentially contributing to systematic barriers for SNP operation and equity. The purpose of this paper is to examine the association between school infrastructure and outcomes including meal participation, untraditional lunch periods, and having an open campus. Regression analyses were conducted using administrative data for 1804 schools and school nutrition manager survey data (n = 821) in New York City (NYC). Co-location was significantly associated with open campus status (OR = 2.84, CI: 1.11, 7.26) and high school breakfast participation (ß = -0.056, p = 0.003). Overcrowding was associated with breakfast (elementary: ß = -0.046, p = 0.03; middle: ß = 0.051, p = 0.04; high: ß = 0.042, p = 0.04) and lunch participation (elementary: ß = -0.031, p = 0.01) and untraditional lunchtimes (elementary: OR = 2.47, CI: 1.05, 5.83). Higher enrollment to cafeteria capacity ratios was associated with breakfast (elementary: ß = -0.025, p = 0.02) and lunch (elementary: ß = -0.015, p = 0.001; high: ß = 0.014, p = 0.02) participation and untraditional lunchtimes (middle: OR = 1.66, CI: 1.03, 2.68). Infrastructure characteristics are an important source of variation across NYC schools that may hinder the equity of school nutrition programs across the city.

Co-location has been a relevant topic in the international business literature, yet the extant literature focuses on the co-location of research and development (R&D) and production activities and overlooks marketing value activities. Marketing innovation is an agile and effective way to respond to crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and many manufacturers in global value chains aim to upgrade functionally following the trajectory of the OEM-ODM-OBM. Thus, this study proposes the co-location of marketing activities as a flexible and organizational learning strategy for manufacturing upgrades, and explores the antecedents of marketing co-location in foreign direct investment (FDI) decisions. The proposed research framework was examined using survey data from 343 Taiwanese manufacturing firms in China, which were drawn from a database compiled by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2020. The results show that the breadth of international experience, linkage to R&D, marketing as a primary knowledge source in the host country, upgrading for local demands, and new product development for global supply are all positively associated with the co-location of marketing and production functions. Additionally, it was found that there was a negative association between FDIs that had been impacted by COVID-19 and marketing co-location. The findings provide valuable theoretical, practical, and strategic insights into how firms should manage their global value chains with respect to marketing co-location in case of another crisis.
