RESUMO

This article analyzes a regularized set of fuzzy differential equations with respect to an uncertain parameter. We provide sufficient conditions for the correctness of a new regularization scheme. For the resulting family of regularized fuzzy differential equations, the following properties are analyzed, and efficient criteria are proposed: successive approximations, continuity, global existence of solutions, existence of approximate solutions, existence of solutions in the autonomous case. In addition, we develop stability criteria for the regularized family of fuzzy differential equations on the basis of the comparison technique and the method of nonlinear integral inequalities. We expect that the derived results will inspire future research work in this direction.

RESUMO

We prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to a system of equations describing the evolution of a linear thermoelastic body by using a semi-group method. Moreover, the uniform exponential stability of the solution is shown in a particular case.•With respect to the existence and uniqueness of the solution, we have defined a linear operator which generates a contraction semi-group and show that it is monotone maximal.•With respect to the stability of the system, we have computed explicitly the expression of the solution of the system and show that the semi-group is uniformly exponentially stable in a particular case.

RESUMO

The sustainability of fishery is a global challenge due to overfishing and reduced stocks all over the world; one of the leading factors of this threat is fish loss/waste. As a contribution to the global efforts towards a sustainable world, this review addresses the topic from different sides and proposes an overview of biorefinery approaches by discussing bioactive compounds that could be produced from fish loss (nitrogen compounds, lipids, minerals and pigments, and fish-based compounds such as chitosan). The second part of this review reports on the possibility of using loss or unwanted fish to design products for human consumption or for animal feeding, with a focus on economic criteria, consumers' segmentation, and some examples of products. The final focus is on Food and Agriculture Organization FAO guidelines as a roadmap for the future with respect to solving this threat by addressing the problem from different sides (technology, skills, market, policy, social and gender equity, and infrastructures).

RESUMO

We consider an undamped second order in time evolution equation. For any positive value of the initial energy, we give sufficient conditions to conclude nonexistence of global solutions. The analysis is based on a differential inequality. The success of our result is based in a detailed analysis which is different from the ones commonly used to prove blow-up. Several examples are given improving known results in the literature.

In the new bioeconomy, fungi play a very important role in addressing major global challenges, being instrumental for improved resource efficiency, making renewable substitutes for products from fossil resources, upgrading waste streams to valuable food and feed ingredients, counteracting life-style diseases and antibiotic resistance through strengthening the gut biota, making crop plants more robust to survive climate change conditions, and functioning as host organisms for production of new biological drugs. This range of new uses of fungi all stand on the shoulders of the efforts of mycologists over generations: the scientific discipline mycology has built comprehensive understanding within fungal biodiversity, classification, evolution, genetics, physiology, ecology, pathogenesis, and nutrition. Applied mycology could not make progress without this platform. To unfold the full potentials of what fungi can do for both environment and man we need to strengthen the field of mycology on a global scale. The current mission statement gives an overview of where we are, what needs to be done, what obstacles to overcome, and which potentials are within reach. It further provides a vision for how mycology can be strengthened: The time is right to make the world aware of the immense importance of fungi and mycology for sustainable global development, where land, water and biological materials are used in a more efficient and more sustainable manner. This is an opportunity for profiling mycology by narrating the role played by fungi in the bioeconomy. Greater awareness and appreciation of the role of fungi can be used to build support for mycology around the world. Support will attract more talent to our field of study, empower mycologists around the world to generate more funds for necessary basic research, and strengthen the global mycology network. The use of fungi for unlocking the full potentials of the bioeconomy relies on such progress. The fungal kingdom can be an inspiration for even more.
