RESUMO

Primary sebaceous carcinoma of the lacrimal gland (PSCLG) is the rarest lacrimal gland (LG) tumor, often belatedly diagnosed, worsening the prognosis. We present a 68-year-old man with a large, indurated mass in the left orbital outer quadrant, visible at the conjunctival upper temporal fornix, extending to the lower fornix, with left gaze restriction. The lesion was not related to the eyelid or other periocular tissues. Excisional biopsy revealed the PSCLG diagnosis. There are only eight others previous PSCLGs. Males are the most affected. Indurated mass in the lacrimal fossa, with eyelid in "S" shape is the most common presentation. Image exams are suggestive, but histological and immunohistochemical evaluations showing a single tumor cell line within LG are mandatory for definitive diagnosis. Larger and more extensive lesions can have a poor prognosis, but early detection can favor the outcome.

Stress is a physiological response of the body to stressful life events but may not be when the individual is persistently exposed to the stress trigger, and it negatively affects certain physiological functions, thus triggering psychosomatic diseases. In literature, chronic stress and inadequate coping strategies are found to mediate the risk and development of periodontitis; mechanisms have therefore been proposed to explain the effects of stress on the periodontium. Since stress is a prevalent problem in modern life and given the importance of maintaining oral health, the present literature review aimed to estimate the association between stress and periodontal disease. The research question adopted is the following: "Are psychological stress and periodontal disease related?" The search was conducted in August 2022 and limited to articles in electronic databases from 2017 to 2022 in English, excluding reviews and literature reviews. From the electronic databases, a total of 532 articles were identified and became 306 after reviews and duplicates were removed. An additional bibliographic search was conducted through the same electronic databases, controlled terms and keywords including only systematic reviews, which were previously excluded. Through the bibliography cited in the systematic reviews, an additional 18 articles were identified, with a new total of 324. As a result of reading the title and abstract of these 324 articles, an additional 295 were excluded. Reading the full text of the remaining 29 studies, 2 articles were excluded due to non-adherence to the eligibility criteria. The remaining 27 results were included in our literature review. It has been suggested in the literature that adverse socioeconomic conditions elicit a stress response, which can trigger periodontal inflammation. Most of the 27 articles included in the study confirm and demonstrate a positive association between psychological stress and periodontal disease. Numerous studies have shown the mechanisms through which chronic stress negatively affects periodontal tissues. Therefore, in the light of the results obtained from this review, it is important that oral health professionals, also for general health purposes, consider stress factors among the risk factors of periodontal disease, its severity and decreased efficacy of treatments. It is therefore advisable to act preventively through the interception of chronic stress.

Os primeiros estudos envolvendo o autismo infantil atribuíam à família participação no comprometimento do desenvolvimento psicoafetivo da criança. A proposta deste estudo foi revisar a literatura relacionada ao autismo e família em duas bases de dados nacionais (Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Capes e Scientific Electronic Library Online), sem delimitação de período específico, bem como identificar as principais temáticas focadas. Foram localizados 29 estudos no Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Capes, sendo o primeiro registro em 1990 e 12 na Scientific Electronic Library Online, sendo a primeira publicação de 2001. Os resultados foram agrupados em sete categorias. As categorias "Qualidade de vida" e "Relações familiares" concentram a maioria das publicações no Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Capes. Já na Scientific Electronic Library, a maioria refere-se as "Relações familiares" e "Revisão bibliográfica". Identificou-se que nenhuma das teses ou dissertações foi publicada em formato de artigo científico, prejudicando a divulgação das pesquisas na área...


Early studies involving childhood autism attributed to family involvement in impairment of psycho-emotional development of the child. The purpose of this study was to review the literature related to autism and family in two national databases (Theses Database of Capes and Scientific Electronic Library Online) without defining a specific period as well as identify the main thematic focused. Were located 29 studies in Theses Database of Capes, the first record in 1990 and 12 in Scientific Electronic Library Online, the first publication in 2001. The results were grouped into seven categories. The categories "Quality of Life" and "Family Relations" concentrate most of publications on Theses Database. Already in Scientific Electronic Library Online, mostly refers to the "Family Relations" and "literature review". It was found that none of theses or dissertations was published in scientific paper format, hampering the dissemination of research in the area...

RESUMO

O objetivo deste trabalho teórico foi realizar uma revisão da literatura sobre dificuldades de aprendizagem através de pesquisa em bases de dados, resumos e artigos científicos, teses e dissertações, mapeando o que os estudos levantam como fatores de risco associados à dificuldade de aprendizagem em crianças em início da etapa escolar. Os resultados mostraram que a maioria dos estudos aborda a dificuldade de aprendizagem como fator de risco para problemas psicossociais na infância, associados a problemas socioemocionais e comportamentais. A contribuição do presente estudo é alarmar para a necessidade do desenvolvimento de estudos longitudinais para a melhor identificação dos fatores de risco e da investigação dos mecanismos que operam nesses fatores, prevenindo ou causando as dificuldades de aprendizagem.


The objective of this theoretical work was to carry through a revision of literature on learning difficulties, through research in scientific, teses summary, databases and article and dissertations, looking for what the studies raise as risk factors associates to the difficulty of learning in children in beginning of the pertaining to school stage. The results had shown that the majority of the studies approaches the learning difficulty as factor of risk for psicossociais problems in infancy, associates the partner-emotional and mannering problems. The contribution of the present study is to alarm the necessity of the development of longitudinal studies for the best identification of the factors of risk and the inquiry of the mechanisms that operate in these factors, preventing or causing the learning difficulties.


El objetivo de este trabajo teórico era llevar con una revisión de la literatura en dificultades que aprendían, con la investigación en científico, los teses resumen, las bases de datos y artículo y dissertações, mapeando qué los estudios levantan mientras que los factores de riesgo se asocian a la dificultad de aprender en niños en el principio de pertenecer a la etapa de la escuela. Los resultados habían demostrado que la mayoría de los estudios acerca a la dificultad que aprende como factor del riesgo para los problemas de los psicossociais en infancia, asocian los problemas socio-emocionales y mannering. La contribución del actual estudio es alarmar la necesidad del desarrollo de los estudios longitudinales para la mejor identificación de los factores del riesgo y de la investigación de los mecanismos que funcionan en estos factores, previniendo o causando las dificultades que aprenden.
