Este trabalho teve como o objetivo comparar dois Projetos Políticos Pedagógicos, descrever e analisar o desenvolvimento da visão humanística no curso de graduação em Odontologia da Universidade Federal Fluminense, a partir da ótica dos acadêmicos do referido curso. Realizou-se uma pesquisa descritivo-exploratória com enfoque quanti-qualitativo. A coleta de dados deu-se em 03 etapas, as duas primeiras por meio de categorização dos fatores selecionados pelos alunos e a terceira pelo método denominado grupo focal. As estratégias de análises utilizadas foram a categorização, operações estatísticas simples, análise temática e análise crítica com a literatura revisada. Entre os resultados da pesquisa têm-se: não existe diferença entre a visão humanística dos alunos no período inicial quando comparada com as dos alunos no final do período do ciclo profissional no Projeto Pedagógico Antigo, no Projeto Pedagógico Novo, em curso, os alunos demonstram em sua maioria estar voltados para uma visão mais humanística. Conclui-se que a humanização, do processo ensino-aprendizagem no contexto acadêmico pesquisado, apresenta ainda deficiências, constituindo-se, portanto, em um caminho a perseguir, onde o comprometimento de todos os envolvidos neste processo de transformação e formação tem um papel fundamental.
The aim of this paper was to compare two Pedagogical Political Projects, to describe and analyze the development of humanistic vision in the undergraduate course in Dentistry of the Federal University of Fluminense, from the perspective of the academics of this course. A descriptive-exploratory research with quantitative-qualitative approach was carried out. The data collection took place in 03 stages; the first two by categorizing the factors selected by the students and the third by the method called the focal group. The analysis strategies used were categorization, simple statistical operations, thematic analysis and critical analysis with the reviewed literature. The results of the research are: there is no difference between the humanistic view of the students in the initial period when compared to the students at the end of the professional cycle in the Pedagogical Project. In the New Pedagogical Project, in progress, students demonstrate, in majority, aimed at a more humanistic view. It is concluded that the humanization of the teaching-learning process in the researched academic context still presents deficiencies, constituting, therefore, a path to be pursued, where the commitment of all those involved in this process of transformation and formation plays a fundamental role.

The accurate detection of dehydration processes in hydrated drugs can reveal various intermolecular vibration modes mediated by hydrogen bonds between water molecules and other components, which underpin the further development of pharmaceutical science, food safety and biophysics. Herein, terahertz (THz) technology is utilized to investigate the dehydration state of d(+)-Raffinose pentahydrate (Rf·5H2O), in conjunction with imaging-based point by point scanning data acquisition and barcodes methods, to establish an innovative platform integrated identification, trace detection, and application capabilities. Our study demonstrates that the dehydration process of Rf·5H2O can be dynamically monitored through the evolution of its THz absorption peaks, offering more precise results compared to XRD and Raman spectroscopies. Moreover, the absorbance spectra data collected at each individual pixel is utilized to build visualized THz images, achieving an ultralow minimum content required for detection of 0.032 µg/(50 µm)2. Additionally, we introduce a THz spectra-barcode conversion system that not only ensures efficient electronic recordkeeping but also enhances user readability, thereby facilitating the practical applications of THz technology.

Although nanozymes have shown significant potential in wastewater treatment, enhancing their degradation performance remains challenging. Herein, a novel catalytic behavior was revealed for defective nanozymes with catalase-mimicking characteristics that efficiently degraded tetracycline (TC) in wastewater. Hydroxyl groups adsorbed on defect sites facilitated the in-situ formation of vacancies during catalysis, thereby replenishing active sites. Additionally, electron transfer considerably enhanced the catalytic reaction. Consequently, numerous reactive oxygen species (ROS) were generated through these processes and subsequent radical reactions. The defective nanozymes, with their unique catalytic behavior, proved effective for the catalytic degradation of TC. Experimental results demonstrate that â¢OH, â¢O2-, 1O2 and e- were the primary contributors to the degradation process. In real wastewater samples, the normalized degradation rate constant for defective nanozymes reached 26.0 min-1 g-1 L, exceeding those of other catalysts. This study reveals the new catalytic behavior of defective nanozymes and provides an effective advanced oxidation process for the degradation of organic pollutants.

This study aims to evaluate the effect of high-pressure processing (HPP) (500 and 600 MPa for 3 min and 5 min) on the microbial changes of Murrah buffalo milk in comparison to heat treatment (72 °C for 15 s of holding time) during refrigerated storage of 28 days. The results indicated that the total plate count (TPC) of raw milk at day 0 was 5.5 ± 0.6 log10 CFU/mL. At day 0, heat treatment lowered TPC to 3.9 ± 0.6, while HPP treatment was in the range of 4.1 ± 0.3 to 4.8 ± 0.6 log10 CFU/mL. Similarly, lowered yeast and mold count and lactic acid bacteria were noted in heat- and HPP-treated milk samples compared to the control sample during refrigerated storage. There were no Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli detected in heat and HPP-treated samples. Heat or HPP treatment at 600 MPa for 5 min significantly extended the shelf-life of Murrah buffalo milk for three weeks at the refrigerated storage. In addition, HPP treatment did not alter the pH, lightness (L* value), protein, or fat content of Murrah buffalo milk during refrigerated storage. Hence HPP at 600 MPa for 5 min could be a suitable alternative to conventional heat treatment.

Dry processing emerges as a cost-effective technique for achieving high material loading in the field of lithium-ion battery fabrication. Nevertheless, insight into the role of current collectors in this process is still scarce. Herein, a set of dry-processed electrodes with three different current collectors is accordingly prepared and comprehensively studied. This work novelly reveals that the current collectors exhibit significant influence on the interface adhesion strength and the electron conductivity, which leads to difference in the mechanical strength and electrochemical performance of dry-processed electrodes. Consequently, it is recommended that carbon-coated current collector is preferred for dry-processed high energy density lithium-ion battery electrodes.

HYPOTHESIS: Disulfide bonds in proteins are strong chemical bonds forming the secondary and tertiary structure like in the dairy protein ß-lactoglobulin. We hypothesize that the partial or complete removal of disulfide bonds affects the structural rearrangement of proteins caused by intra- and intermolecular interactions that in turn define the interfacial activity of proteins at oil/water interfaces. The experimental and numerical investigations contribute to the mechanistic understanding of the structure-function relationship, especially for the interfacial adsorption behavior of proteins. EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL: Systematically, the 5 cysteines of ß-lactoglobulin were recombinantly exchanged by alanine. First, the protein structure of the variants in bulk was analyzed with Fourier-transform-infrared-spectroscopy and molecular dynamic simulations. Second, the structural changes after adsorption to the interface have been also analyzed by molecular dynamic simulations. The adsorption behavior was investigated by pendant drop analysis and the interfacial film properties by dilatational rheology. FINDINGS: The structural flexibility of ß-lactoglobulin with no cysteines encourages its unfolding at the interface, and accelerates the interfacial protein film formation that results in more visco-elastic films in comparison to the reference.

Fenton and Fenton-like processes, which could produce highly reactive species to degrade organic contaminants, have been widely used in the field of wastewater treatment. Therein, the chemistry of Fenton process including the nature of active oxidants, the complicated reactions involved, and the behind reason for its strongly pH-dependent performance, is the basis for the application of Fenton and Fenton-like processes in wastewater treatment. Nevertheless, the conflicting views still exist about the mechanism of the Fenton process. For instance, reaching a unanimous consensus on the nature of active oxidants (hydroxyl radical or tetravalent iron) in this process remains challenging. This review comprehensively examined the mechanism of the Fenton process including the debate on the nature of active oxidants, reactions involved in the Fenton process, and the behind reason for the pH-dependent degradation of contaminants in the Fenton process. Then, we summarized several strategies that promote the Fe(II)/Fe(III) cycle, reduce the competitive consumption of active oxidants by side reactions, and replace the Fenton reagent, thus improving the performance of the Fenton process. Furthermore, advances for the future were proposed including the demand for the high-accuracy identification of active oxidants and taking advantages of the characteristic of target contaminants during the degradation of contaminants by the Fenton process.

Innately designed to induce physiological changes, pharmaceuticals are foreknowingly hazardous to the ecosystem. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are recognized as a set of contemporary and highly efficient methods being used as a contrivance for the removal of pharmaceutical residues. Since reactive oxygen species (ROS) are formed in these processes to interact and contribute directly toward the oxidation of target contaminant(s), a profound insight regarding the mechanisms of ROS leading to the degradation of pharmaceuticals is fundamentally significant. The conceptualization of some specific reaction mechanisms allows the design of an effective and safe degradation process that can empirically reduce the environmental impact of the micropollutants. This review mainly deliberates the mechanistic reaction pathways for ROS-mediated degradation of pharmaceuticals often leading to complete mineralization, with a focus on acetaminophen as a drug waste model.

The chemistry of sulfur cycle contributes significantly to the atmospheric nucleation process, which is the first step of new particle formation (NPF). In the present study, cycloaddition reaction mechanism of sulfur trioxide (SO3) to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which is a typical air pollutant and toxic gas detrimental to the environment were comprehensively investigate through theoretical calculations and Atmospheric Cluster Dynamic Code simulations. Gas-phase stability and nucleation potential of the product thiosulfuric acid (H2S2O3, TSA) were further analyzed to evaluate its atmospheric impact. Without any catalysts, the H2S + SO3 reaction is infeasible with a barrier of 24.2 kcal/mol. Atmospheric nucleation precursors formic acid (FA), sulfuric acid (SA), and water (H2O) could effectively lower the reaction barriers as catalysts, even to a barrierless reaction with the efficiency of cis-SA > trans-FA > trans-SA > H2O. Subsequently, the gas-phase stability of TSA was investigated. A hydrolysis reaction barrier of up to 61.4 kcal/mol alone with an endothermic isomerization reaction barrier of 5.1 kcal/mol under the catalytic effect of SA demonstrates the sufficient stability of TSA. Furthermore, topological and kinetic analysis were conducted to determine the nucleation potential of TSA. Atmospheric clusters formed by TSA and atmospheric nucleation precursors (SA, ammonia NH3, and dimethylamine DMA) were thermodynamically stable. Moreover, the gradually decreasing evaporation coefficients for TSA-base clusters, particularly for TSA-DMA, suggests that TSA may participate in NPF where the concentration of base molecules are relatively higher. The present new reaction mechanism may contributes to a better understanding of atmospheric sulfur cycle and NPF.

High ammonia-nitrogen digestate has become a key bottleneck limiting the anaerobic digestion of organic solid waste. Vacuum ammonia stripping can simultaneously remove and recover ammonia nitrogen, which has attracted a lot of attention in recent years. To investigate the parameter effects on the efficiency and mass transfer, five combination conditions (53 °C 15 kPa, 60 °C 20 kPa, 65 °C 25 kPa, 72 °C 35 kPa, and 81 °C 50 kPa) were conducted for ammonia stripping of sludge digestate. The results showed that 80% of ammonia nitrogen was stripped in 45 min for all experimental groups, but the ammonia transfer coefficient varied under different conditions, which increased with the rising of boiling point temperature, and reached the maximum value (39.0 mm/hr) at 81 °C 50 kPa. The ammonia nitrogen removal efficiency was more than 80% for 30 min vacuum stripping after adjusting the initial pH to above 9.5, and adjustment of the initial alkalinity also affects the pH value of liquid digestate. It was found that pH and alkalinity are the key factors influencing the ammonia nitrogen dissociation and removal efficiency, while temperature and vacuum mainly affect the ammonia nitrogen mass transfer and removal velocity. In terms of the mechanism of vacuum ammonia stripping, it underwent alkalinity destruction, pH enhancement, ammonia nitrogen dissociation, and free ammonia removal. In this study, two-stage experiments of alkalinity destruction and ammonia removal were also carried out, which showed that the two-stage configuration was beneficial for ammonia removal. It provides a theoretical basis and practical technology for the vacuum ammonia stripping from liquid digestate of organic solid waste.

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and cellulose microfibrils (CMFs) are promising materials with the potential to significantly enhance the mechanical properties of electrospun nanofibers. However, the crucial aspect of optimizing their integration into these nanofibers remains a challenge. In this work, we present a method to prepare and electrospin a cellulosic solution, aiming to overcome the existing challenges and realize the optimized incorporation of CNCs into nanofibers. The solution parameters of electrospinning were explored using a combined experimental and simulation (molecular dynamics) approach. Experimental results emphasize the impact of polymer solution concentration on fiber morphology, reinforcing the need for further optimization. Simulations highlight the intricate factors, including the molecular weight of cellulose acetate (CA) polymer chains, electrostatic fields, and humidity, that impact the alignment of CNCs and CMFs. Furthermore, efforts were made to study CNCs/CMFs alignment rate and quality optimization. It is predicted that pure CNCs benefit more from electrostatic alignment, while lower molecular weight CA enables better CNC/CMF alignment.

Blending two or more materials to create better high-moisture meat analogues has been actively studied in the food science and technology field. Walnut protein is a high-quality plant-based protein resource, yet its full potential remains underexploited. Thus, this study focused on exploring the quality characteristics and fibrous structure formation mechanism of walnut protein (WP) and wheat gluten (WG) meat analogues during high-moisture extrusion cooking process. Results showed that the optimized WP and WG-blended high-moisture meat analogues exhibited a more pronounced anisotropic and oriented fibrous structure. The blending of WP and WG can protect the molecular chains from the thermal transition, and promote the aggregation of protein molecules mainly by enhancing the interaction between hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds, increasing the apparent viscosity and forming protein subunits with larger molecular weights (>100 kDa) to stabilize the newly formed conformation. Additionally, the content of α-helix was the highest among the secondary structures. This study provides a theoretical basis for the application of WG and WP to produce HMMAs with rich fibrous structures.

RESUMEN Artículo de reflexión que describe el proceso de adopción institucional de la etnoeducación en Colombia y aborda distintas posiciones críticas sobre su forma de implementación. Objetivo general: Describir el desarrollo histórico de la etnoeducación sus logros y desafíos, su articulación desde un enfoque decolonial y la urgencia del giro narrativo desde las voces de los actores, como alternativas para lograr una paz total desde los territorios. Método: Se utilizó el enfoque cualitativo, con método de interpretación hermenéutico para el análisis e interpretación de la información y la realización del artículo de reflexión, desde un análisis crítico. Resultados: Se abordan las percepciones de los estudiosos y los postulados emergentes y contrahegemónicos de las Epistemologías del Sur y el enfoque decolonial que proponen otras alternativas de educación para las minorías étnicas en Colombia. Finalmente, se describe como ejemplo ilustrativo de nuevos paradigmas y referentes profanos, como el Sumak Kawsay o Buen Vivir que forma parte del acervo cultural de los pueblos indígenas en Latinoamérica y se ha convertido en objeto de estudio de la academia con interesantes reflexiones para superar la actual crisis civilizatoria. Conclusiones: Entre las conclusiones obtenidas se tienen: La etno-educación debería ser una propuesta concertada entre el Estado y las organizaciones ético políticas de las minorías étnicas, con miras a superar las diferencias y a adoptar con enfoque decolonial, una educación propia y multicultural como alternativa para lograr una paz estable y duradera en el país.
ABSTRACT Reflection article that describes the process of institutional adoption of ethno-education in Colombia and addresses different critical positions on its implementation. The general objective is to describe the historical development of ethno-education, its achievements and challenges, its articulation from a decolonial approach and the urgency of the narrative turn from the voices of the actors, as alternatives to achieve total peace from the territories. Method: The qualitative approach was used, with a hermeneutic interpretation method for the analysis and interpretation of the information and the realization of the reflection article, from a critical analysis. Results: The perceptions of scholars and the emerging and counter-hegemonic postulates of the Epistemologies of the South and the decolonial approach that propose other educational alternatives for ethnic minorities in Colombia are addressed. Finally, it is described as an illustrative example of new paradigms and profane referents, such as Sumak Kawsay or Good Living, which is part of the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples in Latin America and has become an object of study of the academy with interesting reflections to overcome the current civilizational crisis. Among the conclusions reached are the following: Ethno-education should be a concerted proposal between the State and the ethno-political organizations of ethnic minorities, with a view to overcoming differences and adopting with a decolonial approach, aproper and multicultural education as an alternative to achieve a stable and lasting peace in the country.

Objetivo: identificar quais os instrumentos disponíveis para avaliação multidimensional da fragilidade em idosos com doença cardiovascular, potencialmente aplicáveis durante a realização do Processo de Enfermagem. Método: revisão sistemática conduzida em oito bases de dados/portais, para identificação de estudos que apresentassem instrumentos multidimensionais de avaliação de fragilidade em idosos com doença cardiovascular e que fossem aplicáveis ao processo de enfermagem. Resultados: foram incluídos 19 instrumentos multidimensionais. O Brief Frailty Index for Coronary Artery Disease foi desenvolvido para uso no cuidado cardiovascular de idosos. O Frailty Index for Adults e o Maastricht Frailty Screening Tool for Hospitalized Patients foram desenvolvidos para uso no Processo de Enfermagem. Conclusão: apesar de apenas um instrumento ter sido desenvolvido para o idosos com doença cardiovascular e apenas dois serem aplicáveis ao processo de enfermagem, a maioria deles tem potencial de adaptação e validação para uso nesta população durante a avaliação de enfermagem.
Objective: to identify which tools are available for multidimensional frailty assessment of older adult with cardiovascular disease and which are potentially applicable during the Nursing Process. Method: a systematic review conducted in eight databases/portals to identify studies that presented multidimensional frailty assessment tools for older adult with cardiovascular disease and that were applicable to the nursing process. Results: a total of 19 multidimensional tools were included. The Brief Frailty Index for Coronary Artery Disease was developed for use in the cardiovascular care of older adult. The Frailty Index for Adults and the Maastricht Frailty Screening Tool for Hospitalized Patients were developed for use in the Nursing Process. Conclusion: although only one tool was developed for older adults with cardiovascular disease and only two are applicable to the nursing process, most of them have the potential to be adapted and validated for use in this population during nursing assessment.
Objetivo: identificar qué instrumentos están disponibles para la evaluación multidimensional de la fragilidad en personas mayores con enfermedad cardiovascular, que se puedan aplicar en el Proceso de Enfermería. Método: revisión sistemática realizada en ocho bases de datos/portales, para identificar estudios que presentaran instrumentos multidimensionales para la evaluación de la fragilidad en adultos mayores con enfermedad cardiovascular y que fueran aplicables al proceso de enfermería. Resultados: se incluyeron 19 instrumentos multidimensionales. El Brief Frailty Index for Coronary Artery Disease se desarrolló para usarlo en el cuidado cardiovascular de las personas mayores. El Frailty Index for Adults y la Maastricht Frailty Screening Tool for Hospitalized Patients se elaboraron para ser usados en el Proceso de Enfermería. Conclusión: aunque sólo se elaboró un instrumento para adultos mayores con enfermedad cardiovascular y sólo dos son aplicables al proceso de enfermería, la mayoría de ellos tienen el potencial para ser adaptados y validados para ser usados en esa población en la evaluación de enfermería.

Microorganisms in the soil are crucial constituents of land ecosystems, significantly influencing their structure and functionality. However, the accumulation of antibiotics in agricultural practices may negatively affect these microbial communities. The objective of this study was to explore the ecological effects of the sulfonamide drug sulfadiazine (SDZ) on the rhizosphere soil microbial communities of ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.). A potting system experiment was constructed by exposing for 45 days after treatments with different initial concentrations of SDZ (0, 1, 10, and 30 mg/kg) to assess the effects of SDZ on soil microbial diversity, bacterial-fungal co-occurrence networks, and community assembly processes. The findings indicated that SDZ treatment significantly altered the community composition, especially for bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria and Gemmatimonadota and fungi in the phylum Mortierellomycota and Aphelidiomycota. Network analysis revealed that SDZ stress caused alterations in microbial interaction patterns, especially at high treatment concentrations, and reduced network connectivity. In addition, SDZ significantly affected microbial community assembly processes, where stochastic processes were enhanced in bacterial communities, while fungal communities showed a balance of stochastic and deterministic processes. Analysis of environmental variables revealed that the presence of SDZ may disrupt the link between soil microorganisms and soil nitrogen compounds. The results provide new perspectives for understanding the ecological impacts of antibiotic residues in agroecosystems and provide a scientific basis for soil health management.

Due to its diverse topography, Pakistan faces different types of floods each year, which cause substantial physical, environmental, and socioeconomic damage. However, the susceptibility of specific regions to different flood types remains unexplored. To the best of our knowledge for the first time, this study employed an integrated approach by leveraging a GIS-based Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), remote sensing, and machine learning (ML) algorithms, to assess susceptibility to three different types of flooding in Peshawar, Pakistan. The study first evaluated the degree of susceptibility to riverine, urban, and flash floods using the GIS-based AHP technique, and then employed ML models, (i.e., specifically Random Forest [RF] and Extreme Gradient Boosting [XG-Boost] to analyze multi-type flood susceptibility in the study region. The performance of the ML models was also evaluated, and the XG-Boost model outperforms RF, demonstrating a higher correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.561-0.922) and lower mean absolute error (MAE = 0.042-0.354), and root-mean-square error (RMSE = 0.119-0.415) for both training and testing datasets. The superior performance of the XG-Boost was further confirmed by the higher value of the area under the curve (AUC) values, which is relatively higher (0.87) than that of the AHP (0.70) and RF (0.86) models. Based on the relative best performance, the XG-Boost model was chosen for further susceptibility assessment of different types of floods, and the generated flood susceptibility maps revealed that 20.9% of the total area is susceptible to riverine flooding, while 30.27% and 48.68% of the total area is susceptible to urban and flash flooding, respectively. BACKGROUND: With application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the disease screening, process reengineering occurred simultaneously. Whether process reengineering deserves special emphasis in AI implementation in the community-based blinding fundus diseases screening is not clear. METHOD: Cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses were performed employing decision-analytic Markov models. A hypothetical cohort of community residents was followed in the model over a period of 30 1-year Markov cycles, starting from the age of 60. The simulated cohort was based on work data of the Shanghai Digital Eye Disease Screening program (SDEDS). Three scenarios were compared: centralized screening with manual grading-based telemedicine systems (Scenario 1), centralized screening with an AI-assisted screening system (Scenario 2), and process reengineered screening with an AI-assisted screening system (Scenario 3). The main outcomes were incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) and incremental cost-utility ratio (ICUR). RESULTS: Compared with Scenario 1, Scenario 2 results in incremental 187.03 years of blindness avoided and incremental 106.78 QALYs at an additional cost of $ 490010.62 per 10,000 people screened, with an ICER of $2619.98 per year of blindness avoided and an ICUR of $4589.13 per QALY. Compared with Scenario 1, Scenario 3 results in incremental 187.03 years of blindness avoided and incremental 106.78 QALYs at an additional cost of $242313.23 per 10,000 people screened, with an ICER of $1295.60 per year of blindness avoided and an ICUR of $2269.35 per QALY. Although Scenario 2 and 3 could be considered cost-effective, the screening cost of Scenario 3 was 27.6 % and the total cost was 1.1 % lower, with the same expected effectiveness and utility. The probabilistic sensitivity analyses show that Scenario 3 dominated 69.1 % and 70.3 % of simulations under one and three times the local GDP per capita thresholds. CONCLUSIONS: AI can improve the cost-effectiveness and cost-utility of screenings, especially when process reengineering is performed. Therefore, process reengineering is strongly recommended when AI is implemented.

The engineering application of volatile fatty acids (VFA) production from food waste (FW) can significantly enhance resource utilization. Enhancing VFA production is crucial for advancing this engineering application. This study presented a economically-feasible method to achieve high VFA production from FW: Conducting fermentation at pH 9 and 37 â with addition of 20â¯% anaerobic sludge significantly increased the conversion of FW to VFAs (80.56â¯g COD/L, accounting for 87.37â¯% of the soluble chemical oxygen demand), while also increasing the content of NH4+-N (2658.15â¯mg/L). Macrotranscriptomic sequencing showed that Anaerosalibacter, Amphibacillus, Wansuia, Clostridiisalibacter, unclassified Tissierellia, Massilibacterium, unclassified Bacteroidales, and Tissierellia were the key active microorganisms for VFA production. The expression abundance of functional enzymes and genes related to VFA production pathways increased during the fermentation. This study significantly advanced the practical application of VFA production from FW, offering both theoretical insights and bacterial resources.

Background: As global populations age, the suitability of community outdoor spaces for older adult residents has become a critical urban planning concern. However, comprehensive evaluation methods for assessing these spaces are lacking. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the aging-suitability of community outdoor spaces in Zhengzhou, China, and provide optimization suggestions for urban planners and policymakers. Methods: An evaluation index system was established using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), with aging-suitability as the goal layer. The criteria layer included outdoor behavioral activities, green space configuration, transportation and road systems, and basic service facilities. The semantic differential (SD) method was employed to conduct a comprehensive evaluation among older adult residents in three communities (A, B, and C) in Zhengzhou city. Results: The evaluation revealed that older adult residents generally had a favorable assessment of their community spaces' aging-suitability. Community A received the highest overall rating. Green space configuration and transportation systems emerged as critical factors influencing aging-suitability. Conclusion: The combined AHP-SD approach proved effective in evaluating the aging-suitability of community outdoor spaces. The study identified key areas for improvement in each community, with variations in strengths and weaknesses across the three sites. Implications: Based on the findings, optimization suggestions are proposed in four aspects: enhancing outdoor behavioral activities, improving green space landscapes, refining road transportation systems, and upgrading basic service facilities. These recommendations can guide urban planners and policymakers in creating more age-friendly community environments.

Background: Nutritional diagnosis involves identifying a nutritional problem, its cause, and the signs that indicate it to guide appropriate treatment. Few studies report on the most prevalent nutritional diagnoses in people living with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Objective: To define nutritional diagnoses across different domains and their association with metabolic, anthropometric, and dietary parameters in individuals with T2D. Methods: A personalized nutritional intervention was conducted using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) model, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation, utilizing standardized terminology from the Nutrition Care Process Terminology (NCPT). Two dietitians, trained and standardized in applying the NCP and NCPT, performed patient assessments and established the diagnoses. Patients over 18 years old with a diagnosis of T2D for less than 5 years were included. Results: Data from 2,050 patients were analyzed, of whom 55.3% were women, and 44.7% were men, with a median age of 57 and 54 years, respectively. The most prevalent nutritional diagnosis was excessive energy and carbohydrate intake. Diagnoses were distributed across domains: Intake (55.9%), Behavioral/Environmental (32.7%), Clinical (10.2%), and 1.2% without nutritional diagnosis. Significant intergroup differences were observed in anthropometric variables such as BMI, waist circumference, and body fat percentage (p < 0.05). HbA1c and glucose levels were significantly higher in the Intake and Behavioral groups (p < 0.001). Albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) was higher in the ingestion group (p = 0.007). Caloric and carbohydrate intake were higher in the ingestion group, while protein and fat intake were higher in the clinical and behavioral groups (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Nutritional diagnoses in the intake domain, followed by behavioral/ environmental and clinical domains, are highly prevalent in people with T2D and are associated with worse metabolic control, higher BMI, and increased energy and carbohydrate intake. Timely identification of issues in these domains can support targeted nutritional therapy to improve disease management and promote a healthy lifestyle.
