RESUMO

Bulk DNA sequencing of multiple samples from the same tumor is becoming common, yet most methods to infer copy-number aberrations (CNAs) from this data analyze individual samples independently. We introduce HATCHet2, an algorithm to identify haplotype- and clone-specific CNAs simultaneously from multiple bulk samples. HATCHet2 extends the earlier HATCHet method by improving identification of focal CNAs and introducing a novel statistic, the minor haplotype B-allele frequency (mhBAF), that enables identification of mirrored-subclonal CNAs. We demonstrate HATCHet2's improved accuracy using simulations and a single-cell sequencing dataset. HATCHet2 analysis of 10 prostate cancer patients reveals previously unreported mirrored-subclonal CNAs affecting cancer genes.

BACKGROUND: Early diagnosis of prostate cancer is key to achieving a cure and its proper management leads to a good prognosis. In Ghana a large percentage of patients present with advanced disease and unusual presentations in these patients result in greater delay in the diagnosis thus worsening the outcomes. CASE PRESENTATION: We present three African males with advanced prostate cancer who had delayed diagnosis. The first patient, a 64 year old male presented with ascites of 2 years duration with weight loss and no lower urinary tract symptoms, the second, a 69 year old man with end stage renal failure of 6 months duration and was receiving dialysis, the third case, an 87 year old man was managed for pulmonary tuberculosis after he presented with chronic cough and lower urinary tract symptoms. All patients eventually had a prostate specific antigen done which were elevated. Further investigations including prostate biopsies, abdominopelvic CT scans for case 1, abdominopelvic ultrasound, prostate biopsies and blood urea and electrolytes for case 2, prostate biopsies, chest and lumbosacral showed a diagnosis of metastatic prostate carcinoma, and all patients were managed with androgen deprivation. The second patient received additional radiotherapy. CONCLUSION: A lack of knowledge of prostate cancer symptoms including unusual symptoms, can result in delayed diagnosis especially in regions of the world where a large number of patients present with advanced disease.

BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common non-cutaneous malignancy in men and leads to the second most common cause of cancer related mortality in men. Early detection of PCa allows for a potentially curative intervention. Most men will live over a decade from the time of their PCa diagnosis. Thus, treatments must balance curative interventions with their impact on quality of life. Radical prostatectomy (RP) is one such potentially curative intervention but often leads to erectile dysfunction (ED) and urinary incontinence (UI). Approximately 90,000 RPs are performed each year in the USA. Post-operative ED and UI is thought to occur in part from traumatic peripheral nerve injury (TPNI) to the neurovascular bundles that surround the prostate. Thus, patients undergoing RP may be a population that would benefit from clinical studies that look at TPNI. METHODS: The study is a single-institution, double-blinded placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial in which patients immediately post-RP receive either 4-aminopyrdine (4AP) or placebo in a 1:1 fashion. The primary outcome is evaluation of the efficacy of 4AP in accelerating the early return of baseline erectile and urinary function post-radical prostatectomy. DISCUSSION: This study is critical as it could reduce the morbidity associated with RP, a commonly performed operation, and identify a patient population that may greatly benefit into further TPNI research. Radical prostatectomy (RP) combined with pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) is the first step in multimodal treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) without distant metastases. For a long time, the surgical resection range has been highly dependent on the surgeon's visualization and experience with preoperative imaging. With the rapid development of prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography and single-photon emission computed tomography (PSMA-PET and PSMA-SPECT), PSMA-targeted surgery has been introduced for a more accurate pathological diagnosis and complete resection of positive surgical margins (PSMs) and micro-lymph node metastases (LNMs). We reviewed PSMA-targeted surgeries, including PSMA-PET-guided prostatic biopsy (PSMA-TB), PSMA-targeted radio-guided surgery (PSMA-RGS), PSMA-targeted fluorescence-guided surgery (PSMA-FGS), and multi-modality/multi-targeted PSMA-targeted surgery. We also discuss the strengths and challenges of PSMA-targeted surgery, and propose that PSMA-targeted surgery could be a great addition to existing surgery protocols, thereby improving the accuracy and convenience of surgery for primary and recurrent PCa in the near future.

Targeted alpha particle therapy (TAT) has emerged as a promising strategy for the treatment of prostate cancer (PCa). Actinium-225 (225Ac), a potent alpha-emitting radionuclide, may be incorporated into targeting vectors, causing robust and in some cases sustained antitumor responses. The development of radiolabeling techniques involving EDTA, DOTA, DOTPA, and Macropa chelators has laid the groundwork for advancements in this field. At the forefront of clinical trials with 225Ac in PCa are PSMA-targeted TAT agents, notably [225Ac]Ac-PSMA-617, [225Ac]Ac-PSMA-I&T and [225Ac]Ac-J591. Ongoing investigations spotlight [225Ac]Ac-hu11B6, [225Ac]Ac-YS5, and [225Ac]Ac-SibuDAB, targeting hK2, CD46, and PSMA, respectively. Despite these efforts, hurdles in 225Ac production, daughter redistribution, and a lack of suitable imaging techniques hinder the development of TAT. To address these challenges and additional advantages, researchers are exploring alpha-emitting isotopes including 227Th, 223Ra, 211At, 213Bi, 212Pb or 149Tb, providing viable alternatives for TAT.

PURPOSE: We report the use of online adaptive radiotherapy (OART) aiming to improve dosimetric parameters in the prostate cancer patient who had lower urinary tract symptoms that caused him not to adhere to the standard bladder filling protocol. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The reference treatment plan for adaptive radiotherapy plan was generated for the pelvis and the solitary bony lesion using the Ethos treatment planning system. For each treatment session, high-quality iterative reconstructed cone beam CT (CBCT) images were acquired, and the system automatically generated an optimal adaptive plan after verification of contours. Image-guided RT (IGRT) plans were also created using the reference plan recalculated on the CBCT scan and were compared with adaptive plans. RESULTS: The reference bladder volume in the planning CT scan was 173 cc, and the mean bladder volume difference over the course was 25.4% ± 16.6%. The ART offered superior target coverage for PTV 70 Gy over online IGRT (V95: 90.5 ± 3.2 % Vs 97.3 ± 0.4%; p=0.000) and the bladder was also better spared from the high dose (V65 Gy: 17.9 ± 9.1% vs 14.8 ± 3.6%; p=0.03). However, the mean rectum V65 doses were very similar in both plans. CONCLUSION: Managing the inconsistent bladder volume was feasible in the prostate cancer patient using the CBCT-guided OART and our analysis confirmed that adaptive plans offered better target coverage while sparing the bladder from high radiation doses in comparison to online IGRT plans. In recent years, the utility of polygenic risk scores (PRS) in forecasting disease susceptibility from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) results has been widely recognised. Yet, these models face limitations due to overfitting and the potential overestimation of effect sizes in correlated variants. To surmount these obstacles, we devised the Stacked Neural Network Polygenic Risk Score (SNPRS). This novel approach synthesises outputs from multiple neural network models, each calibrated using genetic variants chosen based on diverse p-value thresholds. By doing so, SNPRS captures a broader array of genetic variants, enabling a more nuanced interpretation of the combined effects of these variants. We assessed the efficacy of SNPRS using the UK Biobank data, focusing on the genetic risks associated with breast and prostate cancers, as well as quantitative traits like height and BMI. We also extended our analysis to the Korea Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES) dataset. Impressively, our results indicate that SNPRS surpasses traditional PRS models and an isolated deep neural network in terms of accuracy, highlighting its promise in refining the efficacy and relevance of PRS in genetic studies.

Background Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) is effective for detecting prostate cancer (PCa); however, there is a high rate of equivocal Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) 3 lesions and false-positive findings. Purpose To investigate whether fluorine 18 (18F) prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) 1007 PET/CT after mpMRI can help detect localized clinically significant PCa (csPCa), particularly for equivocal PI-RADS 3 lesions. Materials and Methods This prospective study included participants with elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels referred for prostate mpMRI between September 2020 and February 2022. 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT was performed within 30 days of mpMRI and before biopsy. PI-RADS category and level of suspicion (LOS) were assessed. PI-RADS 3 or higher lesions at mpMRI and/or LOS 3 or higher lesions at 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT underwent targeted biopsies. PI-RADS 2 or lower and LOS 2 or lower lesions were considered nonsuspicious and were monitored during a 1-year follow-up by means of PSA testing. Diagnostic accuracy was assessed, with histologic examination serving as the reference standard. International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grade 2 or higher was considered csPCa. Results Seventy-five participants (median age, 67 years [range, 52-77 years]) were assessed, with PI-RADS 1 or 2, PI-RADS 3, and PI-RADS 4 or 5 groups each including 25 participants. A total of 102 lesions were identified, of which 80 were PI-RADS 3 or higher and/or LOS 3 or higher and therefore underwent targeted biopsy. The per-participant sensitivity for the detection of csPCa was 95% and 91% for mpMRI and 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT, respectively, with respective specificities of 45% and 62%. 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT was used to correctly differentiate 17 of 26 PI-RADS 3 lesions (65%), with a negative and positive predictive value of 93% and 27%, respectively, for ruling out or detecting csPCa. One additional significant and one insignificant PCa lesion (PI-RADS 1 or 2) were found at 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT that otherwise would have remained undetected. Two participants had ISUP 2 tumors without PSMA uptake that were missed at PET/CT. Conclusion 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT showed good sensitivity and moderate specificity for the detection of csPCa and ruled this out in 93% of participants with PI-RADS 3 lesions. BACKGROUND: Stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) is an emerging treatment alternative for patients with localized low and intermediate risk prostate cancer patients. As already explored by some authors in the context of conventional moderate hypofractionated radiotherapy, focal boost of the index lesion defined by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is associated with an improved biochemical outcome. The objective of this phase II trial is to determine the effectiveness (in terms of biochemical, morphological and functional control), the safety and impact on quality of life, of prostate SABR with MRI guided focal dose intensification in males with intermediate and high-risk localized prostate cancer. METHODS: Patients with intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer according to NCCN definition will be treated with SABR 36.25 Gy in 5 fractions to the whole prostate gland with MRI guided simultaneous integrated focal boost (SIB) to the index lesion (IL) up to 50 Gy in 5 fractions, using a protocol of bladder trigone and urethra sparing. Intra-fractional motion will be monitored with daily cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and intra-fractional tracking with intraprostatic gold fiducials. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) will be allowed. The primary endpoint will be efficacy in terms of biochemical and local control assessed by Phoenix criteria and post-treatment MRI respectively. The secondary endpoints will encompass acute and late toxicity, quality of life (QoL) and progression-free survival. Finally, the subgroup of high-risk patients will be involved in a prospective study focused on immuno-phenotyping. DISCUSSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first trial to evaluate the impact of post-treatment MRI on local control among patients with intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer undergoing SABR and MRI guided focal intensification. The results of this trial will enhance our understanding of treatment focal intensification through the employment of the SABR technique within this specific patient subgroup, particularly among those with high-risk disease, and will help to clarify the significance of MRI in monitoring local responses. Hopefully will also help to design more personalized biomarker-based phase III trials in this specific context. Additionally, this trial is expected to be incorporated into a prospective radiomics study focused on localized prostate cancer treated with radiotherapy. Prostate cancer is one of the most common neoplasm in the male population. It is not known why some tumors become more aggressive than others. Although most studies show changes in the expression of cell adhesion molecules and the extracellular matrix correlated with the Gleason score, no study has objectively measured the tissue content of these molecules. This study aims to measure the content and tissue expression of collagen type I and IV and laminin in the extracellular matrix of patients with prostate adenocarcinoma and correlate these findings with the Gleason score and clinical characteristics. Forty-one patients who underwent radical prostate surgery at the Urology Department of a reference Hospital in Brazil between January 2015 and December 2020 were studied. The tissue protein content was estimated under light microscopy at a final magnification of 200 × . The mean collagen I score in prostate adenocarcinoma tissue samples was 7.16 ± 1.03 pixels/field. The mean type IV collagen score was 3.44 ± 0.61 pixels/field. The mean laminin score was 5.19 ± 0.79 pixels/field. The total Gleason score was correlated with both collagen and laminin. All the correlations were negative, which shows that the higher the collagen/laminin expression was, the lower the total Gleason score (p-value < 0,05). According to the Pearson correlation analysis, age has no statistical relationship with collagen and laminin content. PSA, in turn, showed a correlation only with laminin, but r = -0.378 (p = 0.015). Among the associated diseases and lifestyle habits, there is only statistical significance in the comparison of alcoholism for collagen I. For collagen IV and laminin, no statistical significance was obtained with the clinical variables analyzed.

BACKGROUND: Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 N (UBE2N) is recognized in the progression of some cancers; however, little research has been conducted to describe its role in prostate cancer. The purpose of this paper is to explore the function and mechanism of UBE2N in prostate cancer cells. METHODS: UBE2N expression was detected in Cancer Genome Atlas Prostate Adenocarcinoma (TCGA-PRAD) data, prostate cancer tissue microarrays, and prostate cancer cell lines, respectively. UBE2N knockdown or overexpression was used to analyze its role in cell viability and glycolysis of prostate cancer cells and tumor growth. XAV939 or Axin1 overexpression was co-treated with UBE2N overexpression to detect the involvement of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling and Axin1 in the UBE2N function. UBE2N interacting with Axin1 was analyzed by co-immunoprecipitation assay. RESULTS: UBE2N was upregulated in prostate cancer and the UBE2N-high expression correlated with the poor prognosis of prostate cancer. UBE2N knockdown inhibited cell viability and glycolysis in prostate cancer cells and restricted tumor formation in tumor-bearing mice. Wnt/ß-catenin inhibition and Axin1 overexpression reversed the promoting viability and glycolysis function of UBE2N. UBE2N promoted Axin1 ubiquitination and decreased Axin1 protein level.

Salinomycin (Sal) has been recently discovered as a novel chemotherapeutic agent against various cancers including prostate cancer which is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers affecting male populations worldwide. Herein we designed salinomycin nanocarrier (Sal-NPs) to extend its systemic circulation and to increase its anticancer potential. Prepared nanoform showed high encapsulation and sustained release profile for salinomycin. The present study elucidated the cytotoxicity and mechanism of apoptotic cell death of Sal-NPs against prostate cancer both in vitro and in vivo. At all measured concentrations, Sal-NPs showed more significant cytotoxicity to DU145 and PC3 cells than Sal alone. This effect was mediated by apoptosis, as confirmed by ROS generation, loss of MMP and cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase in both cells. Sal-NPs efficiently inhibited migration of PC3 and DU145 cells via effectively downregulating the epithelial mesenchymal transition. Also, the results confirmed that Sal-NPs can effectively inhibit the induction of Prostate adenocarcinoma in male Wistar rats. Sal-NPs treatment exhibited a decrease in tumour sizes, a reduction in prostate weight, and an increase in body weight, which suggests that Sal-NPs is more effective than salinomycin alone. Our results suggest that the molecular mechanism underlying the Sal-NPs anticancer effect may lead to the development of a potential therapeutic strategy for treating prostate adenocarcinoma.

BACKGROUND: Radiation therapy is utilized for treatment of localized prostate cancer. Nevertheless, cancerous cells frequently develop radiation resistance. While higher radiation doses have not always been effective, radiosensitizers have been extensively studied for their ability to enhance the cytotoxic effects of radiation. So, this study aims to evaluate the possible radiosensitization effects of docetaxel (DTX) and silver nanoparticles (SNP) in LNCaP cells. METHODS: The cytotoxic effects of DTX, SNP and 2 Gy of X-Ray radiation treatments were assessed in human LNCaP cell line using the MTT test after 24 h. Moreover, the effects of DTX, SNP and radiation on Epidermal growth factor (EGF), Caspase 3, inducible nitric oxide synthase and E-cadherin gene expression were analyzed using the Real-time PCR method. The level of Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidative stress marker, was also detected 24 h after various single and combined treatments. RESULTS: The combinations of SNP (in low toxic concentration) and/or DTX (0.25× IC50 and 0.5 × IC50 concentrations for triple and double combinations respectively) with radiation induced significant cytotoxicity in LNCaP cells in comparison to monotherapies. These cytotoxic effects were associated with the downregulation of EGF mRNA. Additionally, H2O2 levels increased after Radiation + SNP + DTX triple combination and double combinations including Radiation + SNP and Radiation + DTX versus single treatments. The triple combination treatment also increased Caspase 3 and and E-cadherin mRNA levels in compared to single treatments in LNCaP cells. CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that the combination of SNP and DTX with radiation induces significant anti-cancer effects. Upregulation of Caspase 3 and E-cadherin gene expression, and decreased mRNA expression level of EGF may be exerted specifically by use of this combination versus single treatments.

PURPOSE: Sequential PET/CT studies oncology patients can undergo during their treatment follow-up course is limited by radiation dosage. We propose an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to produce attenuation-corrected PET (AC-PET) images from non-attenuation-corrected PET (NAC-PET) images to reduce need for low-dose CT scans. METHODS: A deep learning algorithm based on 2D Pix-2-Pix generative adversarial network (GAN) architecture was developed from paired AC-PET and NAC-PET images. 18F-DCFPyL PSMA PET-CT studies from 302 prostate cancer patients, split into training, validation, and testing cohorts (n = 183, 60, 59, respectively). Models were trained with two normalization strategies: Standard Uptake Value (SUV)-based and SUV-Nyul-based. Scan-level performance was evaluated by normalized mean square error (NMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), structural similarity index (SSIM), and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). Lesion-level analysis was performed in regions-of-interest prospectively from nuclear medicine physicians. SUV metrics were evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), repeatability coefficient (RC), and linear mixed-effects modeling. RESULTS: Median NMSE, MAE, SSIM, and PSNR were 13.26%, 3.59%, 0.891, and 26.82, respectively, in the independent test cohort. ICC for SUVmax and SUVmean were 0.88 and 0.89, which indicated a high correlation between original and AI-generated quantitative imaging markers. Lesion location, density (Hounsfield units), and lesion uptake were all shown to impact relative error in generated SUV metrics (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The Pix-2-Pix GAN model for generating AC-PET demonstrates SUV metrics that highly correlate with original images. AI-generated PET images show clinical potential for reducing the need for CT scans for attenuation correction while preserving quantitative markers and image quality.

BACKGROUND: Metabolomics is nowadays considered one the most powerful analytical for the discovery of metabolic dysregulations associated with the insurgence of cancer, given the reprogramming of the cell metabolism to meet the bioenergetic and biosynthetic demands of the malignant cell. Notwithstanding, several challenges still exist regarding quality control, method standardization, data processing, and compound identification. Therefore, there is a need for effective and straightforward approaches for the untargeted analysis of structurally related classes of compounds, such as acylcarnitines, that have been widely investigated in prostate cancer research for their role in energy metabolism and transport and ß-oxidation of fatty acids. RESULTS: In the present study, an innovative analytical platform was developed for the straightforward albeit comprehensive characterization of acylcarnitines based on high-resolution mass spectrometry, Kendrick mass defect filtering, and confirmation by prediction of their retention time in reversed-phase chromatography. In particular, a customized data processing workflow was set up on Compound Discoverer software to enable the Kendrick mass defect filtering, which allowed filtering out more than 90 % of the initial features resulting from the processing of 25 tumoral and adjacent non-malignant prostate tissues collected from patients undergoing radical prostatectomy. Later, a partial least square-discriminant analysis model validated by repeated double cross-validation was built on the dataset of 74 annotated acylcarnitines, with classification rates higher than 93 % for both groups, and univariate statistical analysis helped elucidate the individual role of the annotated metabolites. SIGNIFICANCE: Hydroxylation of short- and medium-chain minor acylcarnitines appeared to be a significant variable in describing tissue differences, suggesting the hypothesis that the neoplastic growth is linked to oxidation phenomena on selected metabolites and reinforcing the need for effective methods for the annotation of minor metabolites.

OBJECTIVE:  To compare the acute toxicities of two radiation treatment techniques, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) in localised prostate adenocarcinoma. STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Oncology, Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, from July 2016 to June 2022. METHODOLOGY: Patients with localised prostate adenocarcinoma who underwent treatment using two different advanced radiotherapy techniques i.e., IMRT and 3D-CRT were recruited during the study period. They were followed up for six months for acute gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) adverse events (acute toxicities) related to both treatment modalities according to Modified radiation therapy oncology group (RTOG) criteria. The acute toxicities were assessed at the 2nd, 4th, and 6th week during treatment and at the 3rd and 6th month after treatment. RESULTS:  There were 78 patients, with 39 patients in each group. The mean age was 68 ± 10 years in the 3D-CRT and 68 ± 07 years in the IMRT group. Patients in the IMRT group exhibited markedly lower treatment-related acute GI and GU effects at the end of 4th and 6th weeks for anorectal pain (p = 0.04) and (p = 0.01) and burning micturition (p = 0.003) and (p = 0.01), respectively. Furthermore, at 3 months anorectal pain (p = 0.02), loose stools (p = 0.005), and burning micturition (p = 0.01) were present and at 6 months anorectal pain was (p = 0.01) still present. CONCLUSION: Radiation therapy modalities 3D-CRT and IMRT both showed acceptable toxicity profile in the management of localised prostate cancer, while IMRT group exhibited significantly lower treatment-related acute GI and GU effects. Prostate cancer is a malignant epithelial tumor of the prostate gland and is the most common malignant tumor of the male genitourinary system. Pharmacological therapies, including chemotherapy and androgen deprivation therapy, play a key role in the treatment of prostate cancer. However, drug resistance and side effects limit the use of these drugs and so there is a need for new drug therapies for prostate cancer patients. Flavonoids, with their wide range of sources and diverse biological activities, have attracted much attention in the field of anti-tumor drug screening. In 2016, at least 58 flavonoids were reported to have anti-prostate cancer activity. In recent years, six additional flavonoid compounds have been found to have anti-prostate cancer potential. In this review, we have collected a large amount of evidence on the anti-prostate cancer effects of these six flavonoids, including a large number of cellular experiments and a small number of preclinical animal experiments. In addition, we predicted their drug-forming properties using Schrödinger's QikProp software and ADMETlab due to the lack of in vivo pharmacokinetic data for the six compounds. In conclusion, this review has fully confirmed the anti-prostate cancer effects of these six flavonoids, summarized their mechanisms of action and predicted their druggability. It provides a reference for the further development of these compounds into anti-prostate cancer drugs.

Prostate cancer, accounting for 375,304 deaths in 2020, is the second most prevalent cancer in men worldwide. While many treatments exist for prostate cancer, novel therapeutic agents with higher efficacy are needed to target aggressive and hormone-resistant forms of prostate cancer, while sparing healthy cells. Plant-derived chemotherapy drugs such as docetaxel and paclitaxel have been established to treat cancers including prostate cancer. Carnosic acid (CA), a phenolic diterpene found in the herb rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) has been shown to have anticancer properties but its effects in prostate cancer and its mechanisms of action have not been examined. CA dose-dependently inhibited PC-3 and LNCaP prostate cancer cell survival and proliferation (IC50: 64, 21 µM, respectively). Furthermore, CA decreased phosphorylation/activation of Akt, mTOR, and p70 S6K. A notable increase in phosphorylation/activation of AMP-activated kinase (AMPK), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and its upstream regulator sestrin-2 was seen with CA treatment. Our data indicate that CA inhibits AKT-mTORC1-p70S6K and activates Sestrin-2-AMPK signaling leading to a decrease in survival and proliferation. The use of inhibitors and small RNA interference (siRNA) approaches should be employed, in future studies, to elucidate the mechanisms involved in carnosic acid's inhibitory effects of prostate cancer.
