Congenital eccrine nevus on the neck.

Eccrine nevus (EN) is a very rare hamartoma of the skin and with varying clinical manifestations. Histologically, these neoplasms present as a proliferation of normally structured eccrine sweat glands in the dermis. There have been no more than 20 cases previously have been reported in the English literature. Herein we report a 25-year-old man with eccrine nevus on the neck. To our best knowledge, this is the first case that the lesion affecting the neck.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum: a rare tumor with a favorable prognosis.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP) is a rare adenexal carcinoma with only 21 cases reported in the literature. Most patients describe a long-standing mass with recent change, supporting the idea that SCACP arises from malignant transformation of pre-existing syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP). Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum is generally treated with wide surgical excision of the lesion and patients do exceeding well and require no systemic therapy.

Microcystic adnexal carcinoma: the first reported congenital case.

Microcystic adenexal carcinoma is a rare, locally aggressive, malignant appendage tumor also known as sclerosing sweat duct carcinoma. Since widespread recognition of microcystic adenexal carcinoma as a distinct clinicopathologic entity, approximately 300 total cases have been reported in the literature, with only eight previous cases reported in children under the age of 18, with no reported cases in patients younger than 6 years old. Our patient is unique in that the lesion was present at birth, making this the youngest case of microcystic adenexal carcinoma reported.

Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma: report of five congenital cases.

Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare entity characterized histologically by the combination of proliferative eccrine and vascular elements. It generally arises before puberty, as solitary or multiple lesions, with a heterogeneous clinical appearance, affecting predominantly the distal extremities, with or without associated pain or hyperhidrosis. It may require surgical treatment due to cosmetic concern, progressive enlargement or the presence of pain or excessive hyperhidrosis. We report five congenital cases of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma, emphasizing a clinically uncommon tumor-like appearance, with numerous telangiectasias on their surfaces resembling vascular lesions, in two of them.

An unusual case of congenital linear eccrine spiradenoma.

Eccrine spiradenoma (ES) is a benign uncommon tumor of skin adnexa with a characteristic clinical and histopathological presentation. Typically, it presents as a painful, slow growing and solitary nodule on the head or upper trunk in adult patients. We report a child with linear ES which presented with asymptomatic papulonodular lesions in a blaschkoid distribution on the face. Cases reported in the literature of multiple spiradenomas are very rare and multiple linear lesions are even rarer. To date, 21 cases of linear/multiple ES have been reported. Of these, eight were in children or adolescents. We report an additional case of this rare clinical presentation and review the literature.

Congenital mucinous eccrine nevus in a 5-month-old girl with frequent intertriginous dermatitis.

We present a 5-month-old girl with one localized plaque in a bandlike distribution on the left wrist since birth. Localized hyperhidrosis was also noted. Histopathologic examination of the lesion showed typical findings of mucinous eccrine nevus. Our report may serve to alert dermatologists to consider this entity in congenital lesions.

Congenital apocrine tumour: a rare scalp tumour.

We report a rare congenital scalp tumour with histological diagnosis of a congenital apocrine adenoma with features of a tubular adenoma. Following cranial CT and MRI, the tumour was serially excised. The macroscopic and microscopic appearances and management are discussed. To our knowledge, such a case has not been previously reported.

Congenital syringocystadenoma papilliferum.

We present a boy with a congenital, ulcerated nodule on the scalp. At birth, the lesion was considered to be the result of a traumatic injury, but a biopsy at the age of 6 months pointed to a diagnosis of syringocystadenoma papilliferum. We draw attention to the difficulty of identifying head lesions in young children from clinical signs alone.

A novel case of linear syringomatous hamartoma.

A 4-year-old girl presented with a linear, indurated area of dusky erythema and hyperpigmentation down the left leg, present since birth. Histology suggested syringomata. The clinical course and appearances suggest a novel entity for which we have coined the term 'linear syringomatous hamartoma'.

Hamartoma angiomatoso ecrino: a propósito de dos casos / Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma: two case reports

El Hamartoma Angiomatoso Ecrino /HAE) es una malformación combinada: vascular y ecrina, benigna, poco frecuente, que se presenta al nacimiento o en la infancia, ubicada generalmente en las extremidades. Es de crecimiento lento, proporcional al crecimiento del niño, generalmente único. Se presenta habitualmente como una placa o nódulo de color rojo, violáceo o color piel. Puede presentar dolor, hipertricosis e hiperhidrosis local, características que lo diferencian de otras malformaciones vasculares. A la histología se observa un aumento de glándulas ecrinas, maduras, en la dermis, acompañadas de acúmulos de vasos sanguíneos (capilares) dilatados. El tratamiento de elección del HAE es la resección quirúrgica. Describimos dos casos de HAE diagnosticados en un periodo de tres años en el Servicio de Dermatología del Hospital Barros Luco-Trudeau.

Congenital blaschkoid eccrine spiradenoma on the face.

Eccrine spiradenoma is an uncommon tumour of the sweat gland(s) and generally occurs as a solitary small painful nodule. Very rarely, it may present as multiple tumours arranged in a linear/blaschkoid pattern. An 8-year-old girl had many papulonodular lesions, arranged in a linear pattern on the left half of the face, involving the forehead and lateral side of the nose. The lesions were along Blaschko's lines. Lesions were reported to be present at birth; no family member had similar lesion(s), either in solitary or multiple form. Histopathologic examination of a biopsy specimen revealed characteristic features of eccrine spiradenoma. The case is reported because of the rare occurrence of this presentation.
