Goals of international health care organizations and their relationships to Canada.

The author discusses the goals of one international health care organization, The World Organization of National Colleges, Academies, and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians (WONCA), focusing particularly on how the organization relates to Canada. For clarification of the subject, a brief history and description of the organization has been included. A number of Canadian family physicians have played an active part in the foundation, evolution, and activities of WONCA.
