ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION:

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the Plasmodium protozoa and transmitted by the female Anopheles mosquitos. Delayed diagnosis or treatment could evolve to life threatening complications and mortality that typically occur in children or travelers to endemic areas. In this article, we describe a case of a 6 year old healthy child, who travelled with his family to an endemic area in Ethiopia. A week prior to his hospitalization, the patient developed intermittent fever. The disease, its' risk factors and characteristics are described throughout this article.
