ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To analyze economic-financial and patrimonial cases of elder abuse, recorded in the specialized police station for security and protection of the elderly of a capital city in the northeast region of Brazil. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was carried out with data extracted from police reports and inquiries recorded in the abovementioned police station. Descriptive and inferential statistics were carried out by means of Pearson's chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, and multivariate logistic regression. RESULTS: The sample was made up of 555 police reports. The data showed that financial abuse presented a prevalence of 58.9%, and that older elderly people (67.9%), men (70.4%), and single (75.0%) presented a higher percentage of financial abuse compared with other types of violence, often occurring in public places, with 3.1 more chances of occurrence than at the elderly's home. Regarding aggressors, women (73.5%), without suspicion of alcohol use (66.4%), and non-family members committed more financial abuse, evidencing 2.97 more chances of practicing it. CONCLUSION: In the period studied, financial abuse increased in its magnitude when compared with other types of violence, a fact that justifies researching the theme in order to prevent it.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To identify the factors associated with the knowledge of patients and caregivers about Clean Intermittent Urethral Catheterization in the literature which hinder or facilitate the procedure. METHOD: An integrative review of the literature conducted in the MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane, Web of Science, SCOPUS and LILACS databases. RESULTS: 13 primary studies were included in the sample after the peer review. A synthesis of knowledge was performed in two categories: Factors associated with the knowledge of patients and caregivers which hinder the procedure and Factors associated with the knowledge of patients and caregivers which facilitate the procedure. Factors that hinder and facilitate the procedure respectively related to the need of information and negative feelings, use of easy-to-understand language, and application of information leaflets, among others. CONCLUSION: There is a shortage of published articles on the subject, and those which were identified had a low level of evidence, therefore requiring greater commitment and effort on the part of health professionals and researchers to use more robust designs.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Identifying the types of non-psychotic mental disorders in adult women who suffered intimate partner violence in the literature. METHOD: An integrative review carried out in the MEDLINE, CINAHL, LILACS, Web of Science and SCOPUS databases. RESULTS: We selected 19 articles published in international journals in English, with a predominance of cross-sectional study studies (78.9%). The most common types of non-psychotic mental disorders were: depression (73.7%) and post-traumatic stress disorder (52.6%). It was observed that 78.9% of the articles presented a 2C level of evidence. CONCLUSION: Studies have shown that adult women who are victims of intimate partner violence mostly suffer from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as other morbidities; a fact that highlights how devastating violence by an intimate partner can impact on the mental health of those who experience it.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: to assess the effectiveness of using an educational video in comparison with verbal nursing guidelines in increasing older adults' perception of falling risks. METHOD: this is a randomized clinical trial in a cluster, with 138 community older adults, randomized into an intervention group, which watched an educational video, and a control group, which received verbal instructions. The perception of falling risks was assessed by FRAQ-Brazil in the pre-test and after a 30-day follow-up. Student's t-test was used for dependent samples to compare intragroup means and for independent samples to compare intergroup means. The effect size was determined by Cohen's d. RESULTS: in the intragroup analysis, intervention and control groups had an increase in perception, with a statistically significant difference between pre-and post-tests. In the intergroup analysis, the control group showed a greater increase in the perception of falling risks in relation to the intervention group (p = 0.013), with Cohen's d of small effect. CONCLUSION: the use of an educational video and verbal instructions increased older adults' perception of falling risks, with better results in the control group. However, the effect size was small. Abstract Objective To characterize the digital proficiency of nurse students about the history of Brazilian nursing class institutions. Methods Exploratory-descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out in the Nursing bachelor's degree from three campuses of a federal public higher education institution in northeastern Brazil. We applied, from November 2020 to May, a questionnaire via Google Forms to nurse students regularly registered in the second and third periods of the course. We carried out statistical, descriptive, and inferential analyses. Results 56 nurse students participated in the study, of which 55.64% were from campus 1; 53.6% attended the third semester, 83.9% were female; average age of 20.55 (+3.32) years old; 55.4 were brown; 94.6% with no employment relationship; 73.2% living with their parents; 92.9% with a monthly family income of three minimum wages. We considered the average degree of basic digital proficiency low. Regarding the digital technologies in teaching and the learning about the class institutions' history, 62.5% believed that it contributed to the learning process, besides the classroom space and it eased the access to content, and 78.6% considered it important to develop a critical-reflexive sense and the awareness about the participation of these institutions. They found it fundamental to know the creation history, contributions, struggles, challenges, and first directors of the Brazilian Nursing Association, besides the creation of the Nursing Federal and Regional Councils and the respective attributions. Conclusion The teaching-learning process mediated by digital technologies needs to consider the digital competencies and students' interest in remote teaching about the nursing class institutions' history.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Objective To construct and validate a comic book for adolescents about cardiac resuscitation. Methods This is a methodological study with a quantitative approach carried out in three phases: 1) integrative review; 2) identification of learning needs (through a cross-sectional survey with 84 adolescents); and 3) construction and validity of storyboard made under considerations of the Theory of Meaningful Learning. The story obeyed the six steps of comic artist Mccloud, and was validated by 23 judges who judged the comic book using the Educational Content Validation Instrument in Health. The Content Validity Index and the binomial test were used to verify whether the proportion of agreement was statistically equal to or greater than 80%. Results The integrative review justified the need to construct educational technologies on Basic Life Support. The 84 adolescents indicated the need to learn about the first three links of care in a cardiac arrest. The technology brought, in the narrative of character Dara, instructions to apply Basic Life Support only with the hands in victims of cardiac arrest. In validity, 17 (seventeen) of the 18 (eighteen) items assessed received the maximum score, and the overall assessment of the technology obtained a value of 0.99. Conclusion The judges considered the comic book type educational technology valid for teaching cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objective: to map the educational technologies devised to teach Basic Life Support to adolescents. Method: a scoping review conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and carried out between May and November 2022, in seven databases and Google Scholar, to answer the following question: "Which are the educational technologies devised/used about Basic Life Support for adolescents?". By means of inclusion/exclusion criteria, two independent reviewers selected the articles resorting to the EndNote® and Rayyan® software programs. Forms adapted from the Joanna Briggs Institute were used for data extraction and methodological analysis. The data were reported by means of the PRISMA-ScR checklist extension and the protocol of this study is published in: https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/P87SV. Results: a total of 34 articles were selected, which were organized into six categories of educational technologies: 1) Audiovisual; 2) Computational; 3) Learning kits; 4) Mobile devices; 5) Printed material; and 6) Manufactured. This topic has appeared in publications since 1975, especially in medical journals, mainly by European and North American authors. The materials included were 16 experimental and 18 quasi-experimental trials, of varied methodological quality levels and predominantly conducted with High School students. Conclusion: the educational technologies mapped were as follows: videos, films, Digital Versatile Disc, images, music, audiovisual narratives, games, virtual reality/avatar, web courses, computational software, computer and smartphone apps, task cards and manikins (including manufactured ones). Although there are countless educational technologies on Basic Life Support for adolescents, they have not allowed achieving good levels of practical skills, mainly when they propose to teach ventilation to lay people.
