ABSTRACT

PIP: The influence of oral contraceptives on levels of 16 plasma proteins was studied in 95 normal women (aged 18-42 years) not treated with oral contraceptives, in 103 women treated for 3 months to several years with ovulation inhibitors, and in 19 women before and 1 and 3 months after oral contraception was begun. Plasma protein values observed in the untreated women were comparable with those reported in the literature. After 4 weeks of treatment, there were significant changes in plasma protein levels in the women of the 3rd group, and values of alpha-1-antitrypsin, ceruloplasmin, and beta-1-A/C globulin were significantly higher in this group than in the 2nd group.^ieng
