ABSTRACT
A novel time-resolved cathodoluminescence method, where a pulsed electron beam is generated via the photoelectric effect, is used to probe individual CdTe grain boundaries. Excitons have a short lifetime (≤100 ps) within the grains and are rapidly quenched at the grain boundary. However, a ~47 meV shallow acceptor, believed to be due to oxygen, can act as a long lifetime hole trap, even at the grain boundaries where their concentration is higher. This provides direct evidence supporting recent observations of hopping conduction across grain boundaries in highly doped CdTe at low temperature.
ABSTRACT
We show in this paper that the contrast of the interface between resonant and nonresonant media imaged in Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy strongly depends on the pump and Stokes fields spectral detuning. More specifically, when this detuning drives the vibrational resonance with the maximum phase difference, a spatial dip appears at the interface in the CARS image. This effect is studied both theoretically and experimentally and is an evidence of the coherent and resonant nature of the CARS contrast mechanism.
ABSTRACT
Automatic term annotation from biomedical documents and external information linking are becoming a necessary prerequisite in modern computer-aided medical learning systems. In this context, this paper presents BioAnnote, a flexible and extensible open-source platform for automatically annotating biomedical resources. Apart from other valuable features, the software platform includes (i) a rich client enabling users to annotate multiple documents in a user friendly environment, (ii) an extensible and embeddable annotation meta-server allowing for the annotation of documents with local or remote vocabularies and (iii) a simple client/server protocol which facilitates the use of our meta-server from any other third-party application. In addition, BioAnnote implements a powerful scripting engine able to perform advanced batch annotations.
