RESUMEN

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as crucial regulators in the central nervous system, yet their role in vestibular compensation remains elusive. To address this knowledge gap, we employed unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL) in rats to establish animal models of peripheral vestibular dysfunction. Utilizing ribonucleic acid sequencing (RNA-seq), we comprehensively analysed the expression profiles of genes dysregulated in the medial vestibular nucleus (MVN) of these rats at distinct time points: 4 h, 4 days, and 14 days post-UL. Through trans-target prediction analysis integrating differentially co-expressed messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and lncRNAs, we constructed lncRNA-mRNA regulatory networks. Validation of selected mRNAs and lncRNAs was performed using RT-qPCR. Our RNA-seq analysis revealed significant aberrant expression of 3054 lncRNAs and 1135 mRNAs compared to control samples. By applying weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), we identified 11 co-expressed modules encompassing all genes. Notably, within the MEmagenta module, we observed an initial upregulation of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at 4 h, followed by downregulation at 4- and 14-days post-UL. Our findings indicated that 3068 lncRNAs positively regulated 1259 DEGs, while 1482 lncRNAs negatively regulated 433 DEGs in the MVN. The RT-qPCR results corroborated the RNA-seq data, validating our findings. This study offers novel insights into the lncRNA-mRNA expression landscape during vestibular compensation, paving the way for further exploration of lncRNA functions in this context.

The vestibular system is essential for balance and spatial orientation, and its dysfunction can lead to cognitive deficits. This study investigates the effects of unilateral vestibular dysfunction (UVL) on cognitive function and the underlying neurobiological changes in mice. We established a unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL) model in mice and assessed cognitive function at 28 days post-surgery using a comprehensive battery of behavioral tests. We found significant impairments in spatial reference memory, working memory, and synaptic plasticity in UL mice, which persisted despite compensation for vestibular and postural motor deficits. Immunofluorescence staining revealed enhanced activation of c-Fos in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG) at various time points post-UL, suggesting a role of the hippocampus in cognitive deficits following UVL. RNA sequencing of the DG identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and altered pathways related to cognitive function, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal activation. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) validated the expression changes of selected genes. Our findings indicate that UVL leads to persistent cognitive impairments in mice, associated with altered neuronal activation and gene expression in the hippocampus. This study offers valuable insights into the neurobiological mechanisms underlying cognitive deficits associated with UVL. Moreover, it underscores the importance of early cognitive screening in patients with vestibular diseases, as this approach is instrumental in comprehensive condition assessment, precise diagnosis, targeted treatment, and effective rehabilitation.

Energetic materials (EMs) and metals are the important components of solid propellants, and a strong catalysis of metals on EMs could further enhance the combustion performance of solid propellants. Accordingly, the study on the adsorption of EMs such as octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX), hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), and ammonium dinitramide (ADN) on metals (Ti, Zr, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Al) was carried out by density functional theory (DFT) to reveal the catalytic effect of metals. The deep dissociation of EMs on Ti and Zr represents a stronger interaction and corresponds to the rapid thermal decomposition behavior of the EMs/metal composite in the experiment. It is expected that DFT calculation can be selected instead of experiments to compare the catalytic effect of metals and preliminarily screen out potential high-performance metals. Based on the data set of the calculated adsorption energy, further machine learning (ML) was used to predict the adsorption energy of EMs on metals for a convenient comparison of the catalytic effect of metals, since a quite high adsorption energy value represents a more thorough dissociation. The kernel ridge regression (KRR) method shows the best performance on predicting adsorption energy and helps to choose the metals for efficiently catalyzing ammonium nitrate (AN) and hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20). Such adsorption computation and ML not only reveal the decomposition mechanism of EMs on metals but also provide a simple underlying method to predict the catalytic effect of metals.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of antibiotic bone cement combined with the lobulated perforator flap based on the descending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery (d-LCFA) in the treatment of infected traumatic tissue defects in the foot, in accordance with the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) concept. METHODS: From December 2019 to November 2022, 10 patients with infected traumatic tissue defects of the foot were treated with antibiotic bone cement combined with the d-LCFA lobulated perforator flap. The cohort comprised 6 males and 4 females, aged 21 to 67 years. Initial infection control was achieved through debridement and coverage with antibiotic bone cement, requiring one debridement in nine cases and two debridements in one case. Following infection control, the tissue defects were reconstructed utilizing the d-LCFA lobulated perforator flap, with the donor site closed primarily. The flap area ranged from 12 cm×6 cm to 31 cm×7 cm. Postoperative follow-up included evaluation of flap survival, donor site healing, and ambulatory function of the foot. RESULTS: The follow-up period ranged from 7 to 24 months, averaging 14 months. Infection control was achieved successfully in all cases. The flaps exhibited excellent survival rates and the donor site healed by first intention. Based on the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot scale, pain and function were evaluated as excellent in 3 cases, good in 5 cases, and moderate in 2 cases. CONCLUSION: The application of antibiotic bone cement combined with the d-LCFA lobulated perforator flap is an effective treatment for infected traumatic tissue defects of the foot with the advantages of simplicity, high repeatability, and precise curative effects. The application of the d-LCFA lobulated perforator flap in wound repair causes minimal damage to the donor site, shortens hospital stays, lowers medical expenses, and accelerates patient rehabilitation, aligning with the ERAS concept. Therefore, it is a practice worth promoting in clinical use.

OBJECTIVES: The oldest-old (aged ≥80 years) are the most rapidly growing population and age is related to hearing impairment (HI) and cognitive decline. We aimed to estimate the association between HI and fall, and the effect of different cognitive states on this association among the oldest-old Chinese population. DESIGN: A total of 6931 Chinese oldest-old were included in the 2018 cross-cohort from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). The presence of HI was identified by using a dichotomized metric of self-reported hearing status. Cognitive function was evaluated by using the modified Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Cognitive impairment was defined as the MMSE score below 24 points. Data on fall history were collected by questionnaires survey from the participants or their relatives. We studied the association of hearing status and cognitive function with fall by using multivariable logistic regressions, upon adjustment of sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyles, and health conditions. RESULTS: Our participants were aged 92 (range 80 to 117) on average, with 60.1% being women. In total, 39.1% of the participants had reported HI, 50.1% had cognitive impairment, and 26.2% had a history of falling. Participants with HI had a higher incidence of cognitive impairment (79.4%), as compared with their counterparts without HI (31.3%). Compared with those without HI, HI patients had a higher risk of falling after full adjustment for potential confounders (OR = 1.16 [95% confidence interval, CI, 1.01, 1.32], p = 0.031). In comparison with HI participants without cognitive impairment, HI patients with cognitive impairment had a higher fall risk (OR = 1.45 [95% CI = 1.23, 1.72], p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Association of hearing status and cognition with fall was, for the first time, examined on the basis of a nationally-representative oldest-old Chinese population. Poor cognitive performance was common in individuals with HI, and those with HI and cognitive impairment further increased the risk of falling.

Energetic materials are a special class of energy materials composed of C, H, O, and N. Their safety always deteriorates with increasing energy. Regulating the properties of energetic materials to meet application requirements is one of the focuses of research in this field. Energetic metal-organic frameworks (EMOFs) are good candidates as primary explosives to replace lead azide (LA) and other explosives containing toxic metal elements. However, safety remains the biggest concern in applications. In this paper, crystal morphology modulation of EMOF was carried out by stepwise coordination of metal ions and energetic ligands on surfaces of graphene oxide (GO) and amino-functionalized graphene oxide (AGO). Two energetic composite materials, Cu-AFTO@GO and Cu-AFTO@AGO, were successfully synthesized and also the EMOF (Cu-AFTO). The structures and morphologies of these materials were fully characterized. The thermal decomposition behaviors, mechanical sensitivity, and electrostatic discharge sensitivity were investigated in detail. The electric ignition ability of EMOF and two composite materials was tested. This study shows that it is possible to reduce the diameter of EMOF crystals from hundreds of microns to tens of nanometers by a stepwise coordination method. The high electrical conductivity and sensitivity-reducing effect of GO and/or AGO allow the nanosized EMOF crystals to have a lower ignition threshold and lower sensitivity.

We have studied the self-assembly behavior of dehydro[24]annulene (D24A) derivatives 1, 2a-2d, and 3a-3c at the liquid/solid interface using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Both the relative placement and the nature of the four D24A substituents strongly influence the self-assembly pattern. Overall, the eight D24A derivatives examined in this study display seven types of 2D packing patterns. The D24A derivatives 1, 2a, and 3a have either two or four stearate groups and adopt face-on configurations of their macrocyclic cores with respect to the highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surface. Their 2D packing pattern is determined by the interchain spacings and number of stearate substituents. The D24A derivatives 2b-2d and 3b-3c bear hydrogen-bonding carbamate groups to further strengthen intermolecular interactions. Face-on patterns were also observed for most of these compounds, while an unstable edge-on self-assembly was observed in the case of 2b at room temperature. Stable edge-on self-assemblies of D24A derivatives were sought for this work as an important stepping stone to achieving the on-surface topochemical polymerization of these carbon-rich macrocycles into tubular π-conjugated nanowires. The overall factors determining the 2D packing patterns of D24As at the liquid/solid interface are discussed on the basis of theoretical simulations, providing useful guidelines for controlling the self-assembly pattern of future D24A macrocycles.

Two new energetic coordination polymers (CPs) [Pb(BT)(H2O)3]n (1) and [Pb3(DOBT)3(H2O)2]n·(4H2O)n (2) with 1D and 3D structures were synthesized by employing two rational designed ligands, 1H,1'H-5,5'-bitetrazole (H2BT) and 1H,1'H-[5,5'-bitetrazole]-1,1'-diol ligands (DHBT), respectively. Thermal analyses and sensitivity tests show that the 3D architecture reinforces the network of 2 which has higher thermal stability and lower sensitivity than that of 1. Through oxygen-bomb combustion calorimetry the molar enthalpy of formation of 2 is derived to be much higher than that of 1 as well as the reported CPs. Herein, more importantly, the heats of detonation (ΔHdet) were calculated according to the decomposition products of TG-DSC-MS-FTIR simultaneous analyses for the first time. The calculated results show that ΔHdet of 2 is 23% higher than that of 1. This research demonstrates that 3D energetic CP with outstanding energetic properties can be obtained through efficient and reasonable design.

A series of two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) locked with intralayer hydrogen-bonding (H-bonding) interactions were synthesized. The H-bonding interaction sites were located on the edge units of the imine-linked tetragonal porphyrin COFs, and the contents of the H-bonding sites in the COFs were synthetically tuned using a three-component condensation system. The intralayer H-bonding interactions suppress the torsion of the edge units and lock the tetragonal sheets in a planar conformation. This planarization enhances the interlayer interactions and triggers extended π-cloud delocalization over the 2D sheets. Upon AA stacking, the resulting COFs with layered 2D sheets amplify these effects and strongly affect the physical properties of the material, including improving their crystallinity, enhancing their porosity, increasing their light-harvesting capability, reducing their band gap, and enhancing their photocatalytic activity toward the generation of singlet oxygen. These remarkable effects on the structure and properties of the material were observed for both freebase and metalloporphyin COFs. These results imply that exploration of supramolecular ensembles would open a new approach to the structural and functional design of COFs.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a prevalent form of adult hearing impairment, characterized by oxidative damage to auditory sensory hair cells. Although certain dihydropyridines, the L-type calcium channel blockers, exhibit protective properties against such damage, the ability of third-generation dihydropryidines like lercanidipine to mitigate NIHL remains unclear.We utilized glucose oxidase (GO)-treated OC1 cell lines and cochlear explants to evaluate the protective influence of lercanidipine on hair cells. To further investigate its effectiveness, we exposed noise-stimulated mice in vivo and analyzed their hearing thresholds. Additionally, we assessed the antioxidative capabilities of lercanidipine by examining oxidation-related enzyme expression and levels of oxidative stress markers, including 3-nitrotyrosine (3NT) and 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNE). Our findings demonstrate that lercanidipine significantly reduces the adverse impacts of GO on both OC-1 cell viability (0.3 to 2.5 µM) and outer hair cell (OHC) survival in basal turn cochlear explants (7 µM). These results are associated with increased mRNA expression of antioxidant enzyme genes (HO-1, SOD1/2, and Txnrd1), along with decreased expression of oxidase genes (COX-2, iNOS). Crucially, lercanidipine administration prior to, and following, noise exposure effectively ameliorates NIHL, as evidenced by lowered hearing thresholds and preserved OHC populations in the basal turn, 14 days post-noise stimulation at 110 dB SPL. Moreover, our observations indicate that lercanidipine's antioxidative action persists even three days after simultaneous drug and noise treatments, based on 3-nitrotyrosine and 4-hydroxynonenal immunostaining in the basal turn. Based on these findings, we propose that lercanidipine has the capacity to alleviate NIHL and safeguard OHC survival in the basal turn, potentially via its antioxidative mechanism. These results suggest that lercanidipine holds promise as a clinically viable option for preventing NIHL in affected individuals.

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) have recently emerged as an efficient class of photocatalysts due to their structural diversity and excellent stability. Nevertheless, the synthetic reactions of CTFs have usually suffered from poor reversibility, resulting in a low crystallinity of the materials. Here, we report the introduction of methoxy groups on the monomer 2,5-diphenylthiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole to reinforce interlayer π-π interactions of the resulting donor-acceptor type CTFs, which improved crystallinity, further increasing the visible light absorption range and allowing for efficient separation and transport of carriers. The morphology is strongly correlated to the wettability, which has a significant impact on the mass transfer capacity and photocatalytic activity in the photocatalytic reaction. To further improve crystallinity and photocatalytic activity, CTF-NWU-T3 photocatalysts in a bowl shape were prepared using a SiO2 template. The energy band structure, photocatalytic hydrogen evolution, and pollutant degradation efficiency of involved materials were investigated. The donor-acceptor type CTF-NWU-T3 with a bowl-shaped morphology, synthesized using the template method and the introduction of methoxy groups, exhibited an excellent photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of 32064 µmol·h-1·g-1. This study highlights the significance of improving donor-acceptor interactions and increasing the dispersibility of catalyst particles in dispersion to enhance the photocatalytic activity of heterogeneous photocatalysts.

The vestibular system may have a critical role in the integration of sensory information and the maintenance of cognitive function. A dysfunction in the vestibular system has a significant impact on quality of life. Recent research has provided evidence of a connection between vestibular information and cognitive functions, such as spatial memory, navigation and attention. Although the exact mechanisms linking the vestibular system to cognition remain elusive, researchers have identified various pathways. Vestibular dysfunction may lead to the degeneration of cortical vestibular network regions and adversely affect synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis in the hippocampus, ultimately contributing to neuronal atrophy and cell death, resulting in memory and visuospatial deficits. Furthermore, the extent of cognitive impairment varies depending on the specific type of vestibular disease. In the present study, the current literature was reviewed, potential causal relationships between vestibular dysfunction and cognitive performance were discussed and directions for future research were proposed.

Vestibular compensation is the natural process of recovery that occurs with acute peripheral vestibular lesion. Here, we summarize the current understanding of the mechanisms underlying vestibular compensation, focusing on the role of the medial vestibular nucleus (MVN), the central hub of the vestibular system, and its associated neural networks. The disruption of neural activity balance between the bilateral MVNs underlies the vestibular symptoms after unilateral vestibular damage, and this balance disruption can be partially reversed by the mutual inhibitory projections between the bilateral MVNs, and their top-down regulation by other brain regions via different neurotransmitters. However, the detailed mechanism of how MVN is involved in vestibular compensation and regulated remains largely unknown. A deeper understanding of the vestibular neural network and the neurotransmitter systems involved in vestibular compensation holds promise for improving treatment outcomes and developing more effective interventions for vestibular disorders.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the effects of unilateral labyrinthectomy (UL) on monoamine neurotransmitters in the medial vestibular nucleus (MVN) of rats. METHODS: Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were utilized for the vestibular impaired animal model through UL. The success of the model establishment and the recovery process were evaluated using vestibular behavioral tests, including spontaneous nystagmus, postural asymmetry, and balance beam test. Additionally, the expression levels of c-Fos protein in the MVN were assessed by immunofluorescence. Furthermore, changes in the expression levels of monoamine neurotransmitters, including 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), and histamine in the MVN, were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) at different time points after UL (4 h, 8 h, 1 day, 2 days, 4 days, and 7 days). RESULTS: Compared to the sham control group, the UL group exhibited the most pronounced vestibular impairment symptoms at 4 h post-UL, which significantly decreased at 4 days and almost fully recovered by 7 days. Immunofluorescence results showed a notable upregulation of c-Fos expression in the MVN subsequent to the UL-4 h, serving as a reliable indicator of heightened neuronal activity. In comparison with the sham group, HPLC analysis showed that the levels of 5-HT and NE in the ipsilesional MVN of the UL group were significantly elevated within 4 days after UL, and peaked on 1 day and 2 days, respectively. DA showed an increasing trend at different time points up to 7 days post-UL, while histamine levels significantly increased only at 1 day post-UL. CONCLUSIONS: UL-induced dynamic changes in monoamine neurotransmitters during the early compensation period in the rat MVN may be associated with the regulation of the central vestibular compensation mechanism by the MVN.

(1) Background: Patients with vestibular migraine (VM) often present with positional vertigo. A portion of these patients have features of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). It is a challenge to rapidly identify the BPPV component of VM associated with positional vertigo. (2) Methods: Retrospective data collected from 60 VM and 47 VM + BPPV patients were used to build a diagnostic model, and then prospective data from 47 patients were used for the external validation. All patients had VM manifesting as positional vertigo, with or without accompanying BPPV. The clinical manifestations and the results of vestibular function tests were comprehensively analyzed using logistic regression. (3) Results: The univariate and multivariate analyses showed that the age, symptom duration, tinnitus, ear fullness, nausea, head shaking nystagmus, the direction of the Dix-Hallpike and roll tests, and horizontal gain could help differentiate between the two groups. A nomogram and an online calculator were generated. The C-index was 0.870. The diagnostic model showed good discriminative power and calibration performance during internal and external validation. (4) Conclusions: This study provided a new perspective for diagnosing VM with positional vertigo by identifying the BPPV component and, for the first time, offers a prediction model integrating multiple predictors.

Meniere's disease (MD) represents one of the vertigo disorders characterized by triad symptoms (recurrent vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus or ear fullness). The diagnosis of MD relies on the accurate and detailed taking of medical history, and the differentiation between MD and vestibular migraine (VM) is of critical importance from the perspective of the treatment efficacy. VM is a highly prevalent vertigo condition and its typical symptoms (headache, vestibular symptoms, cochlear symptoms) mimic those of MD. Furthermore, the misdiagnosis in MD and VM could lead to VM patients mistakenly receiving the traumatic treatment protocol designed for MD, and sustaining unnecessary damage to the inner ear. Fortunately, thanks to the advances in examination technologies, the barriers to their differentiation are being gradually removed. These advances enhance the diagnostic accuracy of vertigo diseases, especially VM and MD. This review focused on the differentiation of VM and MD, with an attempt to synthesize existing data on the relevant battery of differentiation diagnosis (covering core symptoms, auxiliary tests [audiometry, vestibular tests, endolymphatic hydrops tests]) and longitudinal follow-up. Since the two illnesses are overlapped in all aspects, no single test is sufficiently specific on its own, however, patterns containing all or at least some features boost specificity.

Proton-conducting materials are essential to the emerging hydrogen economy. Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are promising proton-conducting materials at high temperatures but need more effective sites to strengthen interaction for proton carriers. However, their construction and design in a concise condition are still challenges. Herein, we show a low temperature approach to synthesize CTFs via a direct cyclotrimerization of aromatic aldehyde using ammonium iodide as facile nitrogen source. Among the CTFs, the perfluorinated CTF (CTF-TF) was successfully synthesized with much lower temperature ( ≤ 160 °C) and open-air atmosphere. Due to the additional hydrogen-bonding interaction between fluorine atoms and proton carriers (H3PO4), the CTF-TF achieves a proton conductivity of 1.82 × 10-1 S cm-1 at 150 °C after H3PO4 loading. Moreover, the CTF-TF can be readily integrated into mixed matrix membranes, displaying high proton conduction abilities and good mechanical strength. This work provides an alternative strategy for rational design of proton conducting media.

The broad employment of clean hydrogen through water electrolysis is restricted by large voltage requirement and energy consumption because of the sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction. Here we demonstrate a novel alternative oxidation reaction of green electrosynthesis of valuable 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan energetic materials and coupled with hydrogen production. Such a strategy could greatly decrease the hazard from the traditional synthetic condition of 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan and achieve low-cell-voltage hydrogen production on WS2/Pt single-atom/nanoparticle catalyst. The assembled two-electrode electrolyzer could reach 10 and 100 mA cm-2 with ultralow cell voltages of 1.26 and 1.55 V and electricity consumption of only 3.01 and 3.70 kWh per m3 of H2 in contrast of the conventional water electrolysis (~5 kWh per m3). Density functional theory calculations combine with experimental design decipher the synergistic effect in WS2/Pt for promoting Volmer-Tafel kinetic rate during alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction, while the oxidative-coupling of starting materials driven by free radical could be the underlying mechanism during the synthesis of 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azofurazan. This work provides a promising avenue for the concurrent electrosynthesis of energetic materials and low-energy-consumption hydrogen production.

INTRODUCTION: Meniere's disease (MD) is a chronic disorder of inner ear, characterized by audial and vestibular symptoms. It presents a great variability among patients in terms of clinical features, etiology, pathology, and response to the same therapy. It's challenging to diagnose and manage for its heterogeneity. Indeed, the consensus is reached that MD has subtypes. Identifying subtypes of MD is important for individualized therapy and further research. AREAS COVERED: In this review, we examined the heterogeneity of MD. We also included the valid subtyping solutions and updated data regarding the association among subtypes, disease progression, and management. EXPERT OPINION: MD is an etiologically multifactorial condition, and it might be a constellation of symptoms associated with endolymph hydrops, not a disease entity. So far, MD can be classified as distinct phenotypes and endotype, respectively based on symptoms, pathology, possible etiology, and co-existing condition. Patients in different subtypes present different clinical features and are suitable for different treatment. The identification of these subtypes will benefit both basic and clinical studies of MD, by helping achieve personalized therapy, accurate prognosis prediction and even disease screening in near future. Therefore, MD subtyping is the emerging direction of diagnosis and treatment in the future.

INTRODUCTION: Vestibular rehabilitation (VR) is now a subject of active studies and has been shown to be effective for multiple vestibular disorders, peripheral or central. VR is a physical therapy that helps train the central nervous system to compensate for vestibular dysfunction. There is moderate to strong evidence that VR is safe and effective for the management of peripheral vestibular dysfunction. Nonetheless, the studies on how VR works on central vestibular dysfunction remains scanty. AREAS COVERED: This article addressed the rehabilitation strategies and possible mechanisms, including how central vestibular function might improve upon rehabilitation. In addition, it provides some examples concerning the effect of VR on central vestibular dysfunction. EXPERT OPINION: VR works on the vestibular system through repetition of specific physical exercises that activate central neuroplastic mechanisms to achieve adaptive compensation of the impaired functions. VR has become a mainstay in the management of patients with dizziness and balance dysfunction. Individualized VR programs are a safe and effective treatment option for a large percentage of patients with central vestibular disease reporting imbalance and dizziness. Exploration of various treatment strategies and possible mechanisms will help develop the best and personalized VR treatment for patients with central vestibular dysfunction.
