RESUMEN

While it is known that increased dissolved CO2 concentrations and rising sea surface temperature (ocean warming) can act interactively on marine phytoplankton, the ultimate molecular mechanisms underlying this interaction on a long-term evolutionary scale are relatively unexplored. Here, we performed transcriptomics and quantitative metabolomics analyses, along with a physiological trait analysis, on the marine diatom Thalassiosira weissflogii adapted for approximately 3.5 years to warming and/or high CO2 conditions. We show that long-term warming has more pronounced impacts than elevated CO2 on gene expression, resulting in a greater number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The largest number of DEGs was observed in populations adapted to warming + high CO2, indicating a potential synergistic interaction between these factors. We further identified the metabolic pathways in which the DEGs function and the metabolites with significantly changed abundances. We found that ribosome biosynthesis-related pathways were upregulated to meet the increased material and energy demands after warming or warming in combination with high CO2. This resulted in the upregulation of energy metabolism pathways such as glycolysis, photorespiration, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway, as well as the associated metabolites. These metabolic changes help compensate for reduced photochemical efficiency and photosynthesis. Our study emphasizes that the upregulation of ribosome biosynthesis plays an essential role in facilitating the adaptation of phytoplankton to global ocean changes and elucidates the interactive effects of warming and high CO2 on the adaptation of marine phytoplankton in the context of global change.

Vascular calcification is an actively regulated biological process resembling bone formation, and osteogenic differentiation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) plays a crucial role in this process. 1-Palmitoyl-2-(5'-oxo-valeroyl)-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POVPC), an oxidized phospholipid, is found in atherosclerotic plaques and has been shown to induce oxidative stress. However, the effects of POVPC on osteogenic differentiation and calcification of VSMCs have yet to be studied. In the present study, we investigated the role of POVPC in vascular calcification using in vitro and ex vivo models. POVPC increased mineralization of VSMCs and arterial rings, as shown by alizarin red staining. In addition, POVPC treatment increased expression of osteogenic markers Runx2 and BMP2, indicating that POVPC promotes osteogenic transition of VSMCs. Moreover, POVPC increased oxidative stress and impaired mitochondria function of VSMCs, as shown by increased ROS levels, impairment of mitochondrial membrane potential, and decreased ATP levels. Notably, ferroptosis triggered by POVPC was confirmed by increased levels of intracellular ROS, lipid ROS, and MDA, which were decreased by ferrostatin-1, a ferroptosis inhibitor. Furthermore, ferrostatin-1 attenuated POVPC-induced calcification of VSMCs. Taken together, our study for the first time demonstrates that POVPC promotes vascular calcification via activation of VSMC ferroptosis. Reducing the levels of POVPC or inhibiting ferroptosis might provide a novel strategy to treat vascular calcification.

The effective separation of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons remains a notable challenge in the petrochemical industry. Herein, we report a self-healing three-dimensional B ← N-based hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF), BN-HOF-1, constructed from discrete B ← N inclusive dimers through weak C-H···F and C-H···N hydrogen-bonding interactions. To make use of the specific recognition of the B ← N inclusive dimers for the toluene molecules and the reversible ad/desorption nature of this novel HOF, BN-HOF-1 can exclusively recognize and separate toluene from the mixtures of toluene-methylcyclohexane, thus generating 99.6% pure toluene from its mixtures after gentle heating, the recorded value among any reported materials for toluene purification. After the toluene molecules were released from the framework, it becomes the condensed BN-HOF-1a, which can be further reused for the highly selective recognition and purification of toluene from its binary mixtures, through the reversible structural recovery back to BN-HOF-1. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction and molecular modeling studies reveal that the high specific toluene recognition is attributed to the complementary electrostatic potential between the host B ← N inclusive dimers and the guest toluene, while the self-healing and recovery nature of this HOF is attributed to weak intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions.

BACKGROUND: Patients with diabetic feet are prone to be infected due to the impaired immune system. However, the prognostic outcome of different microbial infections remains controversial. Identification and rapid screening of the pathogenic microorganisms that pose the greatest threat to the prognosis of patients with diabetic foot infections (DFIs) is critical. METHODS: Clinical data were statistically analyzed, which were obtained from 522 patients with DFIs, including pathogenic bacterial culture results and treatment outcomes at the last return visit. In addition, a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) detection method was developed to identify the prevalent subtype of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in DFIs patients. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Nanfang Hospital (NFEC-202012-K6) and registered on ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04916457) on June 1, 2021. RESULTS: We found that the proportion of patients with infections of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and MRSA was 27.7% (145/522) and 33.7% (49/145), respectively. Additionally, the incidence of osteomyelitis was 46.9% (23/49) and amputation/disability was 40.8% (20/49) in patients with MRSA infection, which were significantly higher compared to patients with other types of bacterial infections such as methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA). Notably, we demonstrated that the main prevalent subtype of MRSA in DFIs patients in our hospital was Staphylococcal chromosomal cassettes mec (SCCmec) type II. In addition, it only takes 1.5 h to complete the entire experimental procedure in this LAMP assay, providing high sensitivity (100%) and specificity (77.8%) in hospitalized patients with DFIs. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated there is a very high rate of MRSA isolation in patients with DFIs and revealed that patients infected with MRSA are at a higher risk of developing osteomyelitis, and amputation or disability. Importantly, we have developed a method for quickly screening newly admitted patients for MRSA.

A Pd-catalyzed dual C-H carbonylation of commercially available diarylamines using Co2(CO)8 as a safe CO source has been developed. This methodology provides a facile approach for the synthesis of diversified acridones in moderate to good yields. The protocol features good functional group compatibility, operational safety, easy scale-up, and versatile transformations.

BACKGROUND: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms after natural disaster can have a detrimental effect on marital relationships, which may be through parenting-related factor. AIMS: The study aimed to examine the mechanism underlying the long-term effects of PTSD symptoms on marital satisfaction via coparenting, and its differences between men and women following the Super Typhoon Lekima. METHODS: Participants were 465 married victims with children. They reported their PTSD, coparenting, and marital satisfaction at three and fifteen months after the tropical cyclone. RESULTS: The results showed that for women, only higher negative cognitive and emotional alterations (NCEA) symptoms were associated with lower marital satisfaction through conflict coparenting. For men, higher intrusion, NCEA, and hyperarousal symptoms were associated with marital satisfaction through different coparenting. To be specific, for men, higher intrusion symptoms were associated with lower marital satisfaction via less reprimand coparenting; higher NCEA symptoms were associated with lower marital satisfaction via less integrity coparenting, and associated with higher marital satisfaction via less conflict coparenting; higher hyperarousal symptoms were associated with lower marital satisfaction via more conflict coparenting. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggested that the long-term effect of PTSD symptoms on marital satisfaction via coparenting mainly showed for men.

We aimed to describe how breastfeeding relates to adherence to complementary feeding (CF) recommendations, diet diversification and feeding skills development and whether sociodemographic factors explain any differences observed. The Scottish Maternal Infant and Nutrition Survey for infants aged 8-12 months collected breastfeeding history, CF practices, diet and sociodemographic data using a self-completion questionnaire. Non-healthful CF practices were starting CF < 6 months, any consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), sweet or salty snacks (treats) or unmodified cow's milk and regular consumption of commercial baby foods. Diet diversification and feeding skills were assessed by amount of self-feeding and number of food groups, meals and snacks eaten daily. Of the 2730 mothers, 20% were solely infant formula fed (IFF) and 48% continued breastfeeding ≥6 months. Compared to IFF babies, mothers who gave any breast milk ≥6 months were more likely to start CF ≥ 6 months compared to those IFF (66% vs. 37%) and less likely to give treats (15% vs. 45%), SSBs (11% vs. 20%) and commercial baby foods (31% vs. 53%). These associations remained highly significant (p < 0.001) even after sociodemographic factor adjustment. Despite starting CF later, infants breastfed ≥6 months ate the same number of food groups and meals as those IFF, were just as likely to self-feed purees and more likely to self-feed finger foods daily (87% vs. 81% p < 0.001). Mothers who breastfeed beyond 6 months adhere more to CF recommendations and start CF later compared to IFF, but their babies eat a similarly diverse diet and have similar feeding skills.

PURPOSE: To ensure the safety of patients discharged from the hospital, a nurse-assessed scale for outpatient cataract surgery patients was constructed to provide a special tool for cataract patients' discharge readiness evaluation. DESIGN: This is a methodological study. METHODS: The development of the tool was completed between 2021 and 2022. Based on the literature review and qualitative interviews, the initial entry pool of the discharge readiness scale was established. After consultation with Delphi experts, the preliminary scale was tested by 312 participants to screen items and test reliability and validity. The analysis included internal consistency, content validity, and construct validity. The Strengthening the Reporting of Observation studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist was used as the reporting guideline for this study. FINDINGS: The final Discharge Readiness Scale for Cataract surgery consists of 21 items in five dimensions: cognition of discharge readiness, personal status, mastery of health education knowledge, coping capacity, and social support. Five common factors were extracted from the exploratory factor analysis, and they explained 70.12% of the total variance. All of the indexes of the confirmatory factor analysis were within the theoretical allowable range. The Cronbach's α of the total scale was 0.903, and the scale-level content validity index/average variance extracted was 0.99. CONCLUSIONS: The Discharge Readiness Scale for Cataract surgery, evaluated by nurses, has good reliability and validity and can be used to determine the discharge readiness of cataract patients undergoing day surgery.

Genetic changes together with epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation have been demonstrated to regulate many biological processes and thereby govern the response of organisms to environmental changes. However, how DNA methylation might act cooperatively with gene transcription and thereby mediate the long-term adaptive responses of marine microalgae to global change is virtually unknown. Here we performed a transcriptomic analysis, and a whole-genome bisulfite sequencing, along with phenotypic analysis of a model marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum adapted for 2 years to high CO2 and/or warming conditions. Our results show that the methylated islands (peaks of methylation) mCHH were positively correlated with expression of genes in the subregion of the gene body when the populations were grown under high CO2 or its combination with warming for ~2 years. We further identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and hence the metabolic pathways in which they function, at the transcriptomics level in differentially methylated regions (DMRs). Although DEGs in DMRs contributed only 18-24% of the total DEGs, we found that those DEGs acted cooperatively with DNA methylation and then regulated key processes such as central carbon metabolism, amino acid metabolism, ribosome biogenesis, terpenoid backbone biosynthesis, and degradation of misfolded proteins. Taken together, by integrating transcriptomic, epigenetic, and phenotypic analysis, our study provides evidence for DNA methylation acting cooperatively with gene transcription to contribute to the adaptation of microalgae to global changes.

Near-infrared (NIR)-responsive bioassays based on upconversion nanoparticle (UCNP) incorporating high-performance semiconductors have been developed by researchers, but most lack satisfactory ultrasensitivity for exceedingly trace amounts of target. Herein, for the first time, the CRISPR/Cas13a system is combined with cascade DNA circuits, fluorescent resonance energy transfer (FRET) effect, and luminescence-confined UCNPs-bonded CuInS2/ZnO p-n heterostructures-functionalized paper-working electrode to construct dual-signal-on paper-supported NIR-irradiated photoelectrochemical (PEC) (NIR-PEC) and upconversion luminescence (UCL) bioassay for high-sensitive quantification of miRNA-106a (miR-106a). By constructing an ideal FAM-labeled aminating molecular beacon (FAM-H2) model, a relatively good FRET ratio between the UCNP and FAM (≈85.3%) can be achieved. In the existence of miR-106a, the hairpin-structure FAM-H2 was unwound, bringing about the distance increase of UCNP and FAM and the restraint of FRET. Accordingly, both the NIR-PEC signal and the UCL intensity gradually recovered distinctly. Unlike conventional single-mode PEC sensors, with NIR excitation, the designed dual-mode sensing system could implement minimized misdiagnose assay and quantitative miR-106a determination with low detection limits, that is, 76.54 and 51.36 aM for NIR-PEC and UCL detection, respectively. This work not only broadens the horizon of application of the CRISPR/Cas13a strategy toward biosensing but also constructs a new structure of the UCNP-semiconductor in the exploration of efficient NIR-responsive tools and inspires the construction of a no-misdiagnosed and novel biosensor for dual-mode liquid biopsy.

A palladium-catalyzed dearomatization of indoles with alkynes has been developed, providing an efficient route to access a variety of synthetically useful spirocyclohexaneindolenines in moderate to good yields. The current method features a simple catalytic system, operational simplicity, and good functional group compatibility, which will contribute substantially to the development of dearomatization to access spiro compounds. Besides, the ubiquitous existence of spiro molecules, including spirocyclohexaneindolenines, in drugs and biological active molecules suggests the potential application of this methodology in medicinal chemistry.

This study aimed to examine the same-sex matching effect of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms from parents to children and the mediating role of children' sense of security and catastrophization. Longitudinal data from 447 parent-child dyads were acquired using self-report scales. Parents (77.0% mothers; Mage = 40.15 years old) reported their PTSD symptoms 3 months after Super Typhoon Lekima, and children (55.9% girls; Mage = 13.40 years old) reported their PTSD symptoms, sense of security, and catastrophization 3 months and 15 months after the typhoon. Results showed that intrusion in mothers predicated intrusion, avoidance, and hyperarousal symptoms in daughters, while avoidance and hyperarousal in mothers predicted the same symptoms in daughters. This was not observed in any other parent-child dyads. Moreover, mothers' intrusion positively predicted daughters' PTSD symptoms via daughters' sense of security and then catastrophization, while mothers' hyperarousal showed the opposite prediction. These findings suggest that a same-sex matching effect occurs from mothers to daughters in terms of intrusion, avoidance, and hyperarousal symptoms of PTSD. Thus, clinical interventions that target daughters' PTSD symptoms should also consider mothers' intrusion and avoidance symptoms. Moreover, it may be possible to develop interventions to improve daughters' sense of security.

BACKGROUND: This retrospective cohort study was to determine the factors related to restenosis post percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) at juxta-anastomotic of wrist radial-cephalic arteriovenous fistulas (RC-AVFs). METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of patients who underwent their first PTA for juxta-anastomotic stenosis at RC-AVF from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2020. Patient and stenotic lesion characteristics and PTA procedure factors were included in the analysis. The primary and assisted primary patency post PTA of RC-AVFs were evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank test. A Cox proportional hazard model was used to identify factors associated with restenosis post PTA. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was employed to evaluate the predictive value of the risk factors for restenosis post PTA. RESULTS: A total of 65 patients with a mean age of 59.09 ± 14.94 years were enrolled in the study. The mean RC-AVF age was 9.2 (4.9, 35.05) months, and the median time of intervention for stenosis was 10.8 (4.05, 41.35) months after AVF creation. The primary patency rates following the first PTA at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months were 93.9, 84.6, 63.1, and 55.4%, respectively. The assisted primary patency rates at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months were 95.4, 90.8, 87.7, and 84.6%, respectively. Cox proportional hazard regression analysis revealed the maximum balloon diameter >5 mm had a lower postoperative restenosis rate compared with the maximum balloon diameter ≤5 mm (hazard ratio = 0.422; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.201-0.884; P = 0.022). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of the maximum balloon diameter during PTA was 0.624 (95% CI, 0.486-0.762). The best critical value for the maximum balloon diameter was 6 mm, the sensitivity was 64.5%, and the specificity was 61.8%. CONCLUSIONS: For the first PTA at juxta-anastomotic of wrist RC-AVFs without thrombosis and complete occlusion, the use of a balloon with a maximum diameter of ≤5 mm is a risk factor to the occurrence of restenosis within 12 months post PTA. The result may help in tailoring surveillance programs in patients with RC-AVF stenosis.

INTRODUCTION: Several studies have examined the impact of parents' posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on their children's mental health, but few have evaluated the role of parents' specific PTSD trajectories. The aim of this study was to assess the mechanisms underlying distinct trajectories of parental PTSD that affect children's PTSD and depression through the feeling of safety. METHODS: The final sample comprised 242 dyads of parents and their children who experienced Super Typhoon Lekima in 2019. All participants were surveyed at three time points after the typhoon: 3 months (T1), 15 months (T2), and 27 months (T3). Parental PTSD symptoms at three time points and children's PTSD, depression, and feeling of safety at T3 were analyzed. RESULTS: Four parental PTSD trajectories were identified: recovery, resilience, delayed, and coping. Compared with the resilient group, children of parents with delayed PTSD trajectories reported higher levels of depression at T3, while children of parents in the coping group were more likely to experience severe PTSD at T3. Children of parents in the recovery group, with a reduced feeling of safety, exhibited more severe depression and PTSD at T3, whereas children of parents in the delayed group were at an increased risk of PTSD at T3. CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight the heterogeneity of parental PTSD trajectories following natural disasters and their distinct effects on children's PTSD and depression. Furthermore, feeling of safety emerges as a crucial mechanism in this process.

Chinese adolescents who experience potentially traumatic events may develop posttraumatic internalizing and externalizing problems. However, it remains controversial whether interventions should focus first on internalizing or externalizing problems (or simultaneously on both). Previous studies have attempted to elucidate the developmental trajectories of posttraumatic internalizing and externalizing problems, temporal associations between them, and the between-person effects on this association to identify appropriate primary interventions. However, these studies overlooked the potential codevelopment of internalizing and externalizing problems along with the within-person effects on this association. To address these gaps, this study examined the codevelopment of and within-person temporal association between internalizing and externalizing problems. Participants were 391 Chinese adolescents who completed self-report questionnaires at 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 years after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. Parallel latent growth curve modeling and random intercept cross-lagged panel modeling were used to test the hypotheses. The results showed that both internalizing and externalizing problems were stable over time following the earthquake. Moreover, internalizing problems positively predicted externalizing problems at the within-person level and showed a positive between-person relationship with externalizing problems. These findings suggest that internalizing and externalizing problems may codevelop, and internalizing problems are risk factors for externalizing problems in adolescents following trauma. This study investigated the trajectories in posttraumatic growth (PTG) among adolescents who survived from the Yancheng tornado in China, and explored the effects of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) on these trajectories. Participants (n = 246) finished 4 assessments at 6, 9, 12, and 18 months after the tornado. Growth mixture model and logistic regression were used to examine the heterogeneous trajectories and the role of PTSS for differentiating trajectories respectively. Two latent PTG trajectories were observed: group with decreasing PTG and group with fluctuant PTG, which might stem from the illusory component and the factual component of PTG respectively based on the two-component model; and adolescents with more PTSS had higher probabilities generating decreasing PTG, that is, illusory PTG. This study suggested differentiating PTG trajectories and related influencing factors to improve the post-disaster psychological interventions in a longitudinal perspective.

OBJECT: To explore the factors related to health-promoting lifestyles of the elderly based on social-ecosystem theory. DESIGN: A cross-sectional survey study was carried out to include 627 elderly people in communities in three cities of Hebei Province (Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, and Zhangjiakou) from October 2021 to January 2022 for questionnaire survey (601 validly returned cases). VENUE: Three cities of Hebei Province (Shijiazhuang, Tangshan, and Zhangjiakou). PARTICIPANTS: 627 elderly people. INTERVENTIONS: A cross-sectional survey study. MAIN MEASUREMENTS: The questionnaire survey was conducted by using the general demographic data, health promotion life scale, frailty scale, general self-efficacy scale, health engagement scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale, The family Adaptability, Partnership, Growth, Affection, and Resolve scale, and Perceived Social Support Scale. RESULTS: The total health promotion lifestyle score for the elderly was 100.20±16.21, which was at the lower limit of the good level, with the highest mean score for nutrition (2.71±0.51) and the lowest mean score for physical activity (2.25±0.56). Stepwise linear regression showed that exercise frequency (95% confidence interval (CI) 1.304-3.885), smoking status (95% CI -4.190 to -1.556), self-efficacy (95% CI 0.071-0.185), health management (95% CI 0.306-0.590), frailty (95% CI -3.327 to -1.162) in the microsystem, marital status (95% CI 0.677-3.660), children's attention to the elderly health (95% CI 4.866-11.305), family care in the mesosystem (95% CI 1.365-4.968), and pre-retirement occupation (95% CI 2.065-3.894), living area (95% CI 0.813-3.912), whether receive community-based chronic disease prevention and management services (95% CI 2.035-8.149), social support (95% CI 1.667-6.493) in the macrosystem were the main factors affecting health promotion of life in the elderly (P<0.05). Hierarchical regression analysis showed the microsystem accounted for 17.2%, the mesosystem accounted for 7.1%, and the macrosystem accounted for 11.4%. CONCLUSION: The health promotion lifestyle of the elderly in Hebei Province was at the lower limit of good level. Among them, exercise frequency, children's attention to the elderly health, and pre-retirement occupation played a major role in relation to the health-promoting lifestyle of the elderly. Hence, it needs the joint action of individuals, families, and society to promote the elderly to adopt the health promotion lifestyle and realize healthy aging.

Hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) have been emerging as a new type of very promising microporous materials for gas separation and purification, but few HOFs structures constructed through hydrogen-bonding tetramers have been explored in this field. Herein, we report the first microporous HOF (termed as HOF-FJU-46) afforded by hydrogen-bonding tetramers with 4-fold interpenetrated diamond networks, which shows excellent chemical and thermal stability. What's more, activated HOF-FJU-46 exhibits the highest xenon (Xe) uptake of 2.51 mmol g-1 and xenon/krypton (Kr) selectivity of 19.9 at the ambient condition among the reported HOFs up to date. Dynamic breakthrough tests confirmed the excellent Xe/Kr separation of HOF-FJU-46a, showing high Kr productivity (110 mL g-1 ) and Xe uptake (1.29 mmol g-1 ), as well as good recyclability. The single crystal X-ray diffraction and the molecular simulations revealed that the abundant accessible aromatic and pyrazole rings in the pore channels of HOF-FJU-46a can provide the multiple strong C-H⋅⋅⋅Xe interactions with Xe atoms.

The separation of acetylene (C2 H2 ) from carbon dioxide (CO2 ) is a very important but challenging task due to their similar molecular dimensions and physical properties. In terms of porous adsorbents for this separation, the CO2 -selective porous materials are superior to the C2 H2 -selective ones because of the cost- and energy-efficiency but have been rarely achieved. Herein we report our unexpected discovery of the first hydrogen bonded organic framework (HOF) constructed from a simple organic linker 2,4,6-tri(1H-pyrazol-4-yl)pyridine (PYTPZ) (termed as HOF-FJU-88) as the highly CO2 -selective porous material. HOF-FJU-88 is a two-dimensional HOFs with a pore pocket of about 7.6 Å. The activated HOF-FJU-88 takes up a high amount of CO2 (59.6 cm3 g-1 ) at ambient conditions with the record IAST selectivity of 1894. Its high performance for the CO2 /C2 H2 separation has been further confirmed through breakthrough experiments, in situ diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy and molecular simulations.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ranks the first in incidence and mortality among malignant tumors in China. Molecular targeted therapies such as gefitinib, an oral inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase, have shown significant benefits in patients with advanced NSCLC. However, most patients have unsatisfactory outcomes due to the development of drug resistance, and there is an urgent need to better understand the pathways involved in the resistance mechanisms. In this study, we found that HMGB1 is highly expressed in drug-resistant cells and confers to gefitinib resistance in NSCLC cells via activating autophagy process. Gefitinib upregulates HMGB1 expression in time-dependent and dose-dependent manners in human NSCLC cells. RNA interference-mediated knockdown of HMGB1 reduces PC9GR cell viability, induces apoptosis, and partially restores gefitinib sensitivity. Mechanistic analyses indicate that elevated HMGB1 expression contributes to gefitinib resistance by inducing autophagy. Thus, our results suggest that HMGB1 is an autophagy regulator and plays a key role in gefitinib resistance of NSCLC.
