RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the state of the hearing function in the patients presenting with the intralabyrinthine distribution of giant cholesteatoma before and after the surgical treatment based on the results of examination by the subjective and objective methods. The possibility of preservation of the hearing function after the surgical intervention has been demonstrated.

RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was to compare the results of different surgical approaches to the treatment of tympanoplasty in the patients presenting with "dry" mesotympanitis. We compared the morphological and functional outcomes of tympanoplasty in 49 patients allocated to the three study groups. Group 1 was comprised of 28 patients that underwent tympanoplasty using the endaural (intrameatal) approach through an ear speculum. Group 2 consisted of 16 patients that underwent tympanoplasty using the endaural(intrameatal) approach through type A and B intercatilaginous incisions by the method of Heermann, Group 3 included 5 patients who underwent tympanoplasty using the postaural transcanal approach. The analysis of the outcomes of surgeries has demonstrated that the best morphological and functional results were obtained in the patients of groups 2 and 3.

RESUMEN

The objective of the present study was to improve the efficacy of the surgical treatment of the patients presenting with chronic suppurative epitympanitis. We compared morphological and surgical results of the surgical treatment of the patients with chronic suppurative epitympanitis divided into two groups. Those comprising group 1 underwent sanitation tympanoplasty by open surgery. The patients of group 2 were treated by sanitation surgery of the closed type with the reconstruction of the posterior wall of the external acoustic meauts and obliteration of the mastoid process using a cartilaginous implant in combination with simultaneous tympanoplasty. The surgical technique employed in this study is described. Analysis of the results obtained demonstrated the possibility of complete rehabilitation of the patients comprising group 2.

RESUMEN

A technique of plastic reconstruction of the mastoid compartment with cutaneoperiosteofascial flap is described for rapid and complete epidermization of the postoperative cavity in open sanation operations in epitympanitis and epimesotympanitis with cholesteatoma. Good morphological and functional results were achieved in 32 patients operated by the above technique.
