RESUMEN

Treatment with therapy targeting BRAF and MEK (BRAF/MEK) has revolutionized care in melanoma and other cancers; however, therapeutic resistance is common and innovative treatment strategies are needed1,2. Here we studied a group of patients with melanoma who were treated with neoadjuvant BRAF/MEK-targeted therapy ( NCT02231775 , n = 51) and observed significantly higher rates of major pathological response (MPR; ≤10% viable tumour at resection) and improved recurrence-free survival (RFS) in female versus male patients (MPR, 66% versus 14%, P = 0.001; RFS, 64% versus 32% at 2 years, P = 0.021). The findings were validated in several additional cohorts2-4 of patients with unresectable metastatic melanoma who were treated with BRAF- and/or MEK-targeted therapy (n = 664 patients in total), demonstrating improved progression-free survival and overall survival in female versus male patients in several of these studies. Studies in preclinical models demonstrated significantly impaired anti-tumour activity in male versus female mice after BRAF/MEK-targeted therapy (P = 0.006), with significantly higher expression of the androgen receptor in tumours of male and female BRAF/MEK-treated mice versus the control (P = 0.0006 and P = 0.0025). Pharmacological inhibition of androgen receptor signalling improved responses to BRAF/MEK-targeted therapy in male and female mice (P = 0.018 and P = 0.003), whereas induction of androgen receptor signalling (through testosterone administration) was associated with a significantly impaired response to BRAF/MEK-targeted therapy in male and female patients (P = 0.021 and P < 0.0001). Together, these results have important implications for therapy.

Treatments for organ-confined prostate cancer include external beam radiation therapy, radical prostatectomy, radiotherapy/brachytherapy, cryoablation and high-intensity focused ultrasound. None of these are cancer-specific and are commonly accompanied by side effects, including urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Moreover, subsequent surgical treatments following biochemical recurrence after these interventions are either limited or affected by the scarring present in the surrounding tissue. Carnosine (ß-alanyl-L-histidine) is a histidine-containing naturally occurring dipeptide which has been shown to have an anti-tumorigenic role without any detrimental effect on healthy cells; however, its effect on prostate cancer cells has never been investigated. In this study, we investigated the effect of carnosine on cell proliferation and metabolism in both a primary cultured androgen-resistant human prostate cancer cell line, PC346Flu1 and murine TRAMP-C1 cells. Our results show that carnosine has a significant dose-dependent inhibitory effect in vitro on the proliferation of both human (PC346Flu1) and murine (TRAMP-C1) prostate cancer cells, which was confirmed in 3D-models of the same cells. Carnosine was also shown to decrease adenosine triphosphate content and reactive species which might have been caused in part by the increase in SIRT3 also shown after carnosine treatment. These encouraging results support the need for further human in vivo work to determine the potential use of carnosine, either alone or, most likely, as an adjunct therapy to surgical or other conventional treatments.

Rationale: Constantly exposed to the external environment and mutagens such as tobacco smoke, human lungs have one of the highest somatic mutation rates among all human organs. However, the relationship of these mutations to lung disease and function is not known. Objectives: To identify the prevalence and significance of clonal somatic mutations in chronic lung diseases. Methods: We analyzed the clonal somatic mutations from 1,251 samples of normal and diseased noncancerous lung tissue RNA sequencing with paired whole-genome sequencing from the Lung Tissue Research Consortium. We examined the associations of somatic mutations with lung function, disease status, and computationally deconvoluted cell types in two of the most common diseases represented in our dataset, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; 29%) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF; 13%). Measurements and Main Results: Clonal somatic mutational burden was associated with reduced lung function in both COPD and IPF. We identified an increased prevalence of clonal somatic mutations in individuals with IPF compared with normal control subjects and individuals with COPD independent of age and smoking status. IPF clonal somatic mutations were enriched in disease-related and airway epithelial-expressed genes such as MUC5B in IPF. Patients who were MUC5B risk variant carriers had increased odds of developing somatic mutations of MUC5B that were explained by increased expression of MUC5B. Conclusions: Our identification of an increased prevalence of clonal somatic mutation in diseased lung that correlates with airway epithelial gene expression and disease severity highlights for the first time the role of somatic mutational processes in lung disease genetics.

Luminescent lanthanide (Ln3+ = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Tb)-ions doped calcium molybdate(CaMoO4) nanoparticles(NPs) were prepared by the polyol wet-chemical route. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of all samples showed the formation of a single-phase scheelite type tetragonal structure with an average crystalline size over 21.6-33.4 nm. Thermal stability was evaluated to study the surface-anchored functional groups by weight loss measurement. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra were recorded to identify the adsorbed functional groups. Aqueous dispersibility and colloidal stability were recorded with the help of the UV/visible absorption spectra. These nanocrystals formed semi-transparent colloidal solutions after being evenly disseminated in aqueous media. The doping of the luminescent ions significantly affects the crystal structure and photoluminescence (PL) properties of the CaMoO4:Ln3+ NPs. In a comparative analysis of the absorption spectra, bandgap, Raman-active modes, and luminescent properties, they were greatly influenced by altering the dopant ion due to the variation in the atomic radius of the element. The doping of smaller atomic radius Ln3+-ions distorts the unit cell, and, subsequently, bond angle/length alters the symmetry of the host crystal. The distorted crystal lattice affects the crystalline, size, lattice parameter, band gap values, Raman active vibrational modes, and luminescent efficiency. The distorted crystal structure of the host lattices facilitates the movement of the oxygen vacancies through charge transfer, resulting in efficiently suppressed emission efficiency.Graphical abstract.

Drug resistance and inability to distinguish between cancerous and non-cancerous cells are important obstacles in the treatment of cancer. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) is now emerging as a crucial material to challenge this global issue due to its tunable properties. Developing an effective, inexpensive, and eco-friendly method in order to tailor the properties of ZnO NPs with enhanced anticancer efficacy is still challenging. For the first time, we reported a facile, inexpensive, and eco-friendly approach for green synthesis of ZnO-reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (ZnO-RGO NCs) using garlic clove extract. Garlic has been playing one of the most important dietary and medicinal roles for humans since centuries. We aimed to minimize the use of toxic chemicals and enhance the anticancer potential of ZnO-RGO NCs with minimum side effects to normal cells. Aqueous extract of garlic clove was used as reducing and stabilizing agent for green synthesis of ZnO-RGO NCs from the zinc nitrate and graphene oxide (GO) precursors. A potential mechanism of ZnO-RGO NCs synthesis with garlic clove extract was also proposed. Preparation of pure ZnO NPs and ZnO-RGO NCs was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The in vitro study showed that ZnO-RGO NCs induce two-fold higher cytotoxicity in human breast cancer (MCF7) and human colorectal cancer (HCT116) cells as compared to pure ZnO NPs. Besides, biocompatibility of ZnO-RGO NCs in non-cancerous human normal breast (MCF10A) and normal colon epithelial (NCM460) cells was higher than those of pure ZnO NPs. This work highlighted a facile and inexpensive green approach for the preparation of ZnO-RGO NCs with enhanced anticancer activity and improved biocompatibility.

INTRODUCTION: Radioisotope and blue dye are standard agents for performing sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy in breast cancer. The paucity of nuclear medicine facility poses logistic challenge. This study evaluated performance of radioisotope & methylene blue (MB) with indocyanine green (ICG) and MB for SLNB. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This randomized controlled trial was conducted from December 2019 to July 2022 comparing SLN identification proportions of radioisotope-blue dye [Group A] with dual dye (MB + ICG; Group B]. Secondary objective included time required and cost effectiveness of performing SLNB. Sample size of 70 (35 in each arm) was calculated. Upfront operable node negative early breast cancer was included in the study. Clinico-demographic data, number & type of SLN, time taken were noted. Cost analysis was done including the equipment, manpower & consumables. Chi-square/Fisher exact test was used to compare proportion between two groups. p value of less than 0.05 was considered to represent statistical significance. RESULTS: Seventy patients randomized to either group were similar in clinico-demographic and tumor characteristics. SLN identification rate (IR) was 91.43% in group A and 100% in group B. Overall IR of MB, radioisotope and ICG were 91.43%, 91.43% and 100%, respectively. Mean number of SLNs identified were 3 in group A and 4 in group B. Median time required for SLNB was 12 min and 14 min in either group, respectively. Cost of performing SLNB was higher in Group B. CONCLUSION: SLNB using dual dye is non-inferior to radioisotope-blue dye in upfront operable early breast cancer. Trial registration number Clinical Trial registry India CTRI/2020/02/023503.

The emerging resistance against commonly used antiparasitic drugs has driven investigators to explore alternative approaches using plant-derived active ingredients. These compounds have been tested for antiviral, antibacterial, and anthelmintic properties, particularly against adult worms. However, their effects on larval forms have been neglected. Curcumin is a polyphenol that is a significant constituent of the rhizome of Curcuma longa and possesses various biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-infectious, and anti-carcinogenic. In the present study, the anthelmintic potential of curcumin was tested in vitro for its efficacy against the zoonotically important larval form, the progenetic metacercariae of Clinostomum complanatum, which were procured from the forage fish, Trichogaster fasciatus. Curcumin produced time and concentration-dependent inhibition in the motility of treated metacercarial worms, with the maximum inhibition of motility reported at 60 µM along with a significant increase of (36-92%) in ROS and (57-112%) in GSH levels at the end of a period of 6 h. In contrast, curcumin at the highest concentration significantly inhibited the activities of the antioxidant and detoxification enzymes SOD (36%) and GST (16%), respectively, in addition to altering the polypeptide profile and inhibiting cysteine proteases. The tegumental surface appeared to be highly disrupted in curcumin-treated worms, exhibiting severe blebbing, shearing of the tegument, and spine erosion. Such changes would affect the tegumental functions and survival of worms in the hostile microenvironment. This would render worms more susceptible to host-mediated rejection responses. Based on the results of the present study, it is inferred that C. complanatum could serve as an excellent model for screening novel anthelmintic drugs against larval trematodes of great economic significance. Furthermore, we conclude that curcumin could be exploited as an excellent phytotherapeutic agent against the virulent larval form under investigation.

Chapati is unleavened flat bread originated from Indian sub-continent and is considered as staple product in everyday meals. Its quality attributes are dependent on number of factors including the wheat used, ingredients added and processing parameters. The study was aimed to observe the effect of yeast addition on functional, rheological, and sensory characteristics on whole wheat flour and chapati at varying percentage (0.25-1.0). All the experiments conducted were compared with a control flour/chapati without yeast addition. The results showed that all the attributes were favourably affected with yeast addition when compared with control samples. It was noticed that the peak viscosity, setback, breakdown and final viscosity decreased with yeast addition and the paste obtained had higher gel strength. Alveogragh results also depict the increase in tensile strength and decrease in extensibility of dough on yeast incorporation. Textural and sensory studies revealed that yeast concentration upto 0.75% w/w in whole wheat flour resulted in chapati with good overall acceptability.

Obstructive uropathy in children is predominantly urinary system malformation and one of the leading causes of chronic renal failure. Antenatal ultrasound can detect obstructive uropathy in infants. It is important to conduct diagnostics not only to identify the obstruction level in urinary system, but to assess renal function, renal blood flow and urination. Children are given conservative and surgical treatment methods to restore urodynamics, prevent infectious complications, improve renal blood flow. Currently, there are no principles, approaches and technologies for medical rehabilitation of patients with obstructive uropathy, therefore, the use of selective chromotherapy, which has an activating effect on regional circulation, and sound stimulation improving muscles tone of pelvis and ureters, is pathogenetically reasonable and promising. OBJECTIVE: To develop technologies of physiotherapy application (sound stimulation, selective chromotherapy) for inclusion in comprehensive medical rehabilitation of children with megaloureter. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Clinical observations and special examinations have been performed in 90 children with megaloureter aged from 1 to 10 years. The patients were divided into 2 groups: 30 children (study group) received sound stimulation combined with selective chromotherapy; 30 children (the 1st comparison group) - sound stimulation; 30 children (the 2nd comparison group) - selective chromotherapy (blue spectrum). General clinical methods, ultrasound of kidneys and bladder with Doppler monitoring of intrarenal blood flow, functional methods of bladder examination were used. RESULTS: The positive effects of separate and combined application of sound stimulation and selective chromotherapy on clinical and laboratory indicators, urodynamics of urinary tract and renal blood flow in children with megaloureter after surgery have been revealed. The efficacy of selective chromotherapy use in children with megaloureter and comorbid neurologic bladder dysfunction has been proven. CONCLUSION: Modern technologies for the application of physiotherapy, namely selective chromotherapy and sound stimulation, to include them in the comprehensive medical rehabilitation of children with megaloureter, have been developed for the first time and their high efficacy has been proven.

In recent decades, a promising area of physiotherapy has been intensively developed In Russia and abroad - magnetic therapy, based on the use of various types of magnetic fields for preventive, curative and rehabilitative purposes. The use of high-intensity pulsed magnetotherapy is promising. The effectiveness of the method in a number of diseases of childhood, which has an active stimulating effect on the state of the neuromuscular apparatus, has been proven.

AIM: Micropigmentation of the nipple-areolar complex is the final aesthetic step in autologous breast reconstruction. The mechanism of referred pain observed in patients during micropigmentation after a non-neurotonized pedicled latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction is poorly understood. METHODS: Patients undergoing micropigmentation for nipple-areolar restoration at our breast unit were included in this study. Baseline sensitivity of both breasts was recorded using a questionnaire and non-invasive Semmes-Weinstein monofilament testing. Patients experiencing local and regional referred symptoms, while undergoing micropigmentation, were identified and their clinical data were collected and analysed. Three months postoperatively, the patients completed a questionnaire pertaining to their satisfaction and future analgesic preference. RESULTS: Thirty (17.8%) patients experienced referred sensations during micropigmentation. Their symptoms ranged from "ache" (6.7%), "discomfort" (13.3%) to "deep pain" (13.3%) and were either local and/or referred to ipsilateral axilla, upper limb and back. The majority were pleased with postoperative outcomes [shape (30, 100%), size (28, 93.3%), colour match (22, 73.3%)] and a small number were not satisfied with the shape (2, 6.7%,) position (1, 3.3%) and appearance of the tattoo (1, 3.3%). CONCLUSION: Micropigmentation is a safe procedure with good patient satisfaction and low rates of complications; however, patients may experience significant local or referred symptoms. This observation can be explained by the proposed "somato-somatic" theory of referred pain and ascertains the need for use of oral and/or local anaesthetic as well as improved counselling in these patients.

The study examines the role of technology transfer in preventing communicable diseases, including COVID-19, in a heterogeneous panel of selected 65 countries. The study employed robust least square regression and innovation accounting matrixes to get robust inferences. The results found that overall technological innovation, including innovative capability, absorptive capacity, and healthcare competency, helps reduce infectious diseases, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Patent applications, scientific and technical journal articles, trade openness, hospital beds, and physicians are the main factors supporting the reduction of infectious diseases, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to inadequate research and development, healthcare infrastructure expenditures have caused many communicable diseases. The increasing number of mobile phone subscribers and healthcare expenditures cannot minimize the coronavirus pandemic globally. The impulse response function shows an increasing number of patent applications, mobile penetration, and hospital beds that will likely decrease infectious diseases, including COVID-19. In contrast, insufficient resource spending would likely increase death rates from contagious diseases over a time horizon. It is high time to digitalize healthcare policies to control coronavirus worldwide.

Infectious scleritis is rare and most commonly herpetic in origin. We report an unusual bilateral subacute presentation of scleritis with uveitis and glaucoma which responded to treatment with acyclovir. A 47-year-old male coast guard personnel presented with 2 months history of bilateral red eye. He was initially managed elsewhere as conjunctivitis, and on examination had bilateral diffuse redness of the eyes persisting with phenylephrine, with scleral edema and mild globe tenderness. Investigations for underlying autoimmune systemic illness were normal. He showed inadequate response to topical steroids and cycloplegics and developed uveitis and glaucoma while on steroids. He was then given tablet acyclovir with antiglaucoma topical medications with which he showed rapid response and complete resolution. The case is being reported for highlighting this unusual bilateral presentation of scleritis with uveitis and glaucoma with possible viral etiology.

The article presents a literature review on the prevalence, relevance, social significance, and principles of medical rehabilitation of children with different types of scoliosis in scoliotic disease. The current classification, diagnostics features, and clinical course of the disease are addressed. Current approaches to the choice of medical rehabilitation methods for scoliotic disease in children are described: therapeutic exercise, hydrokinesiotherapy, massage, physiotherapeutic treatment, kinesiotaping, and corseting. Special consideration is given to postoperative management and stages of medical rehabilitation of children with scoliosis, including resort treatment.

This study evaluated the effects of postpartum collection time and quality of colostrum fed to calves on the failure of passive transfer, growth, and small intestine development in the first 5 wk of life. Newborn calves (Holstein-Friesian × Jersey) were identified at birth and collected either early (E; within 12 h postpartum; n = 20) or late (L; 18-24 h postpartum; n = 20) and fed either high-quality colostrum [HQC, first milking colostrum with Brix% = 23 ± standard deviation (SD) 2] or low-quality colostrum (LQC, mixed colostrum and transition milk with Brix% = 12 ± 1) to create 4 treatments: E-HQC, E-LQC, L-HQC, and L-LQC (n = 10/treatment). After collection, calves (body weight = 32.3 ± 4.6 kg/calf) were fed either HQC or LQC (7.5% of their arrival body weight per feed) for the first 3 (L calves) or 4 feedings (E calves). All calves were then managed and fed similarly using automatic feeders which recorded individual intake of milk replacer and calf starter. Blood samples were taken at d 1 (after collection from dams but before colostrum feeding), 4, 14, and 35 of age to analyze selected metabolites. All calves were killed at d 35 ± 2 of age and histomorphology of duodenum, jejunum, and ileum was evaluated. At collection, 75% of E calves and 58% of L calves had serum total protein ≤52 g/L. At d 4 of age, calves fed HQC had greater serum total protein than calves fed LQC; however, failure of passive transfer (serum total protein ≤52 g/L) incidence did not differ between HQC and LQC. Collection time did not affect the scouring duration, but the amount of electrolyte used to treat sick calves was lower in L versus E calves, whereas feeding HQC versus LQC lowered both the scouring duration and electrolyte use to treat sick calves. Calves fed HQC had a greater total surface area of the duodenum (+23%) and jejunum (+17%) compared with LQC calves. Duodenal crypts were deeper in E-LQC calves than E-HQC and L-HQC calves, whereas L-LQC calves were intermediate. Villus height to crypt depth ratio in duodenum, jejunum, and ileum was greater in HQC than LQC calves. A trend toward greater average daily gain was observed in HQC versus LQC calves (667 vs. 590 g/d) but the average daily gain was not influenced by collection time. Serum IGF-1 at d 4 was higher in HQC versus LQC calves and this might have contributed to greater average daily gain and small intestine development. Calves fed HQC had higher feed conversion ratios (FCR; total body weight gain/total dry matter intake) compared with LQC calves, and L calves had higher FCR compared with E calves. In conclusion, in comparison to feeding LQC, feeding HQC reduced the scouring duration, enhanced surface area of duodenum and jejunum, and improved FCR during the first 5 wk of calf age. Postpartum collection time of calves did not affect small intestine development, but L calves had higher FCR and required a lesser volume of electrolytes to treat scours compared with E calves during the first 35 d of life.

This study evaluated feed intake, milk yield, and subclinical ketosis in dairy cows in early lactation fed 2 different diets postpartum. Cows are typically offered a high-energy ration immediately after calving. We compared a conventional high-energy total mixed ration (TMR) with a transition ration that contained chopped straw. We predicted that adding chopped straw would increase dry matter intake, milk production, and indicators of energy metabolism during the first 3 wk of lactation compared to cows fed a conventional high-energy TMR. We also predicted that carryover effects would be likely for at least 2 wk after treatment ended. A total of 68 mixed-age Holstein cows were enrolled in the study 3 wk before their expected calving. All cows were managed on a single high-forage diet during the dry period. At calving, cows were allocated to 1 of the 2 diets: half to the conventional high-energy TMR (CTMR; n = 34; net energy for lactation = 1.61 Mcal/kg; neutral detergent fiber = 31.7%), and the other half to a high-forage TMR containing chopped wheat straw, equivalent to 4.27% dry matter (STMR; n = 34; net energy for lactation = 1.59 Mcal/kg; neutral detergent fiber = 33.7%) for 3 wk after calving. Cows on STMR were then shifted to CTMR for the next 2 wk to study short-term residual effects on the performance of cows. Treatments were balanced for parity, body condition score, and body weight. Feed intake was measured daily from 2 wk before to 5 wk after calving using automatic feed bins. Blood was sampled twice weekly from 2 wk before to 5 wk after calving, and ß-hydroxybutyrate and glucose were measured in serum samples. Subclinical ketosis was identified using a threshold of ß-hydroxybutyrate ≥1.0 mmol/L in wk 1 after calving and ≥1.2 mmol/L in wk 2 to 5 after calving. Cows were milked twice daily, and weekly samples (composite samples of morning and afternoon milkings) were analyzed to determine total solids, fat, protein, lactose, and somatic cell count. Data were analyzed in 2 separate periods: the treatment phase (wk +1, +2, and +3) and the post-treatment phase (wk +4 and +5). The addition of straw to the TMR negatively affected the dry matter intake of STMR cows during wk 2 and 3 of lactation. Daily milk yield during the first 5 wk of lactation was lower in STMR cows than in CTMR cows. Concentrations of ß-hydroxybutyrate were higher in CTMR cows than in STMR cows during wk 1, but this effect was reversed during wk 2 and 3 of lactation. By 21 d in milk, STMR cows had a greater risk of developing subclinical ketosis than CTMR cows. Adding chopped wheat straw to the TMR during the first 21 d after calving lowered dry matter intake and provided no metabolic or production benefits to lactating dairy cattle.

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic has placed a significant strain on healthcare resources and utilisation globally. The appearance of the disease in the Republic of Ireland resulted in a broad postponement of scheduled and routine surgical care. The influence of the novel coronavirus, and the associated imposition of public health measures such as school closures and social distancing, on the burden of emergency surgical disease is less clear. AIM: The aim of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 on the number of patients presenting to our institution with emergent surgical illnesses or requiring emergency general surgical procedures. METHODS: All patients attending our service between March 1st 2020 and April 30th 2020 were identified retrospectively by examining electronic handover and electronic discharge summaries, and data were collected relating to demographics, presenting illness, critical care utilisation, length of stay, operative or endoscopic procedure performed, and in-hospital mortality. Similar data were collected March 1st to April 30th 2019, 2018, and 2017 respectively to allow direct comparison. RESULTS: 151 patients were admitted during the study period, compared to a total of 788 during the proceeding three years (mean 2.49 admissions per night versus 4.35 per night, 42.8% reduction, p < 0.001). Median age of admitted patients was 51.8 years, compared to 50.3 years formerly (p = 0.35). 53 emergency procedures were performed, compared to a median of 70 over the same period in the previous years (mean 0.87 per day versus 1.16 per day, 25.4% reduction, p = 0.05). CONCLUSION: A significant overall reduction in the number of patients being admitted to our unit and requiring emergency surgical procedures during March and April 2020 was seen, in line with patterns reported internationally.

Lack of rapid, non-destructive, and precision sorting and grading automatic tools for quality and safety assurance of mango fruit, in India, limits its share in the global market (< 1%) despite being the world's largest producer. External defects on the surface of mango fruit are very common and a major cause of quality deterioration as well as degradation of market value. The goal of this work is, thus, to develop a computer vision system for defect detection of mangoes using monochrome cameras and to check its potential for detecting the defect. Considering the above facts an algorithm was developed and its performance was evaluated based on accuracy, efficiency, and average inspection time. The average accuracy and efficiency of the developed algorithm for defect detection was obtained as 88.75% and 97.88%, respectively. Monochrome computer vision systems are very successful and have great potential to detect various common external defects such as a black lesions, mechanical damage, etc. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The online version of this article (10.1007/s13197-020-04939-9) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.

RESUMEN

Medical rehabilitation of children suffering from bronchial asthma is based on the complex use of natural therapeutic factors, drug, non-drug therapy and other methods in order to achieve control over the disease and long-term remission. The use of non-drug technologies is necessary taking into account the pathogenesis of the bronchial asthma development and is aimed at relieving bronchospasm, reducing the activity of allergic inflammation in the bronchi, improving their drainage function, strengthening the respiratory muscles and increasing exercise tolerance. When carrying out rehabilitation measures it is important to observe the basic principles of medical rehabilitation. An individual medical rehabilitation program is drawn up taking into account the assessment of the child's clinical condition at each stage with the diagnosis of the initial rehabilitation status, the establishment of a rehabilitation diagnosis and an assessment of the rehabilitation potential. The article presents the data of the analysis of scientific publications and our own research allowing to draw up an algorithm for the formation of an individual program of medical rehabilitation for children with bronchial asthma.
