RESUMEN

This study investigated the effect of melatonin on clinical outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We searched PubMed, the Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Ovid MEDLINE, and Clinicaltrials.gov for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published before September 11, 2021. Only RCTs that compared the clinical efficacy of melatonin with a placebo in the treatment of patients with COVID-19 were included. The primary outcome measure was the clinical recovery rate. We included three RCTs in this meta-analysis. Melatonin 3 mg three times daily was administered in one RCT, and 3 or 6 mg daily before bedtime in the other two trials. Treatment duration was 14 days in two RCTs and 7 days in one trial. The clinical recovery rates were 94.2% (81/86) and 82.4% (70/85) in the melatonin and control groups, respectively. Overall, patients receiving melatonin had a higher clinical recovery rate than did the controls (odds ratio [OR]: 3.67; 95% CI: 1.21-11.12; I2 = 0%, p = 0.02). The risk of intensive care unit admission was numerically lower in the melatonin group than in the control group (8.3% [6/72] vs. 17.6% [12/68], OR: 0.45; 95% CI: 0.16-1.25; I2 = 0%, p = 0.13), and the risk of mortality was numerically lower in the melatonin group than in the control group (1.4% [1/72] vs. 4.4% [3/68], OR: 0.32; 95% CI: 0.03-3.18; I2 = 0%, p = 0.33). In conclusion, melatonin may help improve the clinical outcomes of patients with COVID-19.

Orlistat has been proved to be an effective fatty acid synthase inhibitor that is able to inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis in many cancer cell types. However, the anticancer effects of orlistat on hepatocellular carcinoma are undefined. We found that orlistat inhibited cell growth and induced G0/G1 cell cycle arrest with increased cyclin D, cyclin E, and p21 expression in human hepatoma Hep3B cells. Furthermore, protein expression of cyclin A, cyclin B, Cdk1, Cdk2, and Cdk4 was reduced by orlistat. This study investigated the role of lipid metabolism on orlistat-induced human hepatoma Hep3B cell death. The decrease in the expression of key enzymes in fatty acid metabolism, including FASN, ACOT8, PPT1, FABP1, CPT1 and CPT2, was observed after orlistat treatment. We also demonstrated that peroxisomal activity was involved in the orlistat-induced Hep3B cell death. In this study, we established an in vitro model to investigate the effect of orlistat on lipid accumulation. We found that orlistat significantly inhibited the cellular lipid content when administered in fatty acid overload conditions in Hep3B cells. Combination treatment of orlistat and paclitaxel was able to induce a synergistic effect on growth inhibition and cell apoptosis in Hep3B cells. Our data suggested that orlistat displays antitumor activity and enhances the efficacy of paclitaxel in Hep3B cells.

Hyperglycemia-induced inflammation can greatly increase the risk of periodontal disease in people with diabetes. Low-level laser irradiation (LLLI) has been used for wound healing and anti-inflammation in many cases, and LLLI is known to inhibit the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated inflammatory response. However, the therapeutic effect of LLLI in diabetes patients with periodontitis remains unknown. In this study, we cultured human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) in high-glucose medium (35 mM) to mimic a hyperglycemic environment, and then measured the anti-inflammatory effect of LLLI by assessing the expression of pro-inflammatory genes including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-6, and IL-8 by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The results demonstrated no significant inflammatory response in HGFs cultured in mannitol medium and in those treated only with LLLI. However, HGFs cultured only in high-glucose medium showed significantly higher expression of pro-inflammatory cytokine than in those treated together with LLLI. We then observed that LLLI reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in HGFs cultured in high-glucose medium by modulating cAMP signaling. We also investigated whether antioxidant (vitamin C) treatment reduced the inflammatory effect of oxidative stress in HGFs cultured in high-glucose medium but found no additive effect upon co-treatment with LLLI, suggesting that LLLI may activate cAMP signaling, but not reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling, to reduce the high glucose-induced inflammation. In conclusion, LLLI may have an anti-inflammatory effect on HGFs in a high glucose environment and may benefit the treatment of periodontal disease in diabetes patients.

UNLABELLED: Backgroud: Increasing evidence suggests the involvement of chronic inflammation in the progression of prostate cancer, and prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2), also known as cyclooxygenase-2, catalyzes the rate-limiting steps of the pathway. We hypothesized that genetic variants of PTGS2 can influence the outcome of prostate cancer patients. METHODS: We genotyped five haplotype-tagging single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to detect common genetic variations across the PTGS2 region in 458 prostate cancer patients treated with radical prostatectomy. RESULTS: One SNP, rs4648302, was associated with disease recurrence. Five-year recurrence-free survival rate increased according to the number of variant alleles inherited (55.6%, 70.7%, and 100.0% for patients with different genotypes; P = 0.037), and the effect was maintained in multivariable analysis. Public dataset analyses also suggested that PTGS2 expression was correlated with prostate cancer prognosis. CONCLUSION: Our results indicated that PTGS2 could be a potential prognostic marker to improve the prediction of disease recurrence in prostate cancer patients.

Oral cancer is one of the major causes of deaths in the male population of Taiwan. Gan-Lu-Yin (GLY) is used for an adjuvant treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine in clinical patients. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms in oral cancer cell lines after exposure to GLY. The cytometric bead-based array (CBA) method was used for the examining and analyzing of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) secretion level. TNF-α mRNA expression was determined by real-time PCR analysis. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activity and other relative proteins were determined by NF-κB promoter assay, Western blotting, electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), and immuno-staining analyses. GLY decreased the secretion of TNF-α from the oral cancer CAL 27 cells. Furthermore, 2000 µg/mL of GLY significantly suppressed TNF-α mRNA expression of CAL 27 cells in a time-dependent manner. GLY reduced the levels of proteins, including nuclear NF-κB (p65 and p50), p-IKK (ser176), p-IκB, p-AKT, p-ERK, and nuclear Egr-1 in a time and dose-dependent manner. GLY also suppressed the NF-κB activity and translocation in CAL 27 cells. We suggest that GLY might promote the cure of oral cancer through decreasing the level of TNF-α cytokine, and these actions were mediated partially through the NF-κB, AKT, and ERK-dependent pathways in vitro. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Recent evidence indicates that microRNAs might participate in prostate cancer initiation, progression and treatment response. Germline variations in microRNAs might alter target gene expression and modify the efficacy of prostate cancer therapy. To determine whether genetic variants in microRNAs and microRNA target sites are associated with the risk of biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy (RP). We retrospectively studied two independent cohorts composed of 320 Asian and 526 Caucasian men with pathologically organ-confined prostate cancer who had a median follow-up of 54.7 and 88.8 months after RP, respectively. Patients were systematically genotyped for 64 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in microRNAs and microRNA target sites, and their prognostic significance on BCR was assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression model. After adjusting for known clinicopathologic risk factors, two SNPs (MIR605 rs2043556 and CDON rs3737336) remained associated with BCR. The numbers of risk alleles showed a cumulative effect on BCR [perallele hazard ratio (HR) 1.60, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.16-2.21, p for trend = 0.005] in Asian cohort, and the risk was replicated in Caucasian cohort (HR 1.55, 95% CI 1.15-2.08, p for trend = 0.004) and in combined analysis (HR 1.57, 95% CI 1.26-1.96, p for trend <0.001). Results warrant replication in larger cohorts. This is the first study demonstrating that SNPs in microRNAs and microRNA target sites can be predictive biomarkers for BCR after RP.

BACKGROUND: Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF1) pathway plays a critical role in malignant transformation, and epidemiology studies have also shown that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IGF1 pathway genes are associated with prostate cancer risk. However, the clinical significance of these SNPs on prostate cancer aggressiveness and prognosis after radical prostatectomy (RP) has not been determined. METHODS: We evaluated the associations of 4 common SNPs in IGF1 and IGF1R with age at diagnosis, preoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, pathologic Gleason score, pathologic stage, surgical margin, lymph node metastasis, and PSA recurrence in a cohort of 320 localized prostate cancer patients receiving RP. The prognostic significance on time to PSA recurrence was also assessed by Cox proportional hazards model. RESULTS: IGF1 rs2946834 alleles/genotypes and an IGF1 specific haplotype AT, containing the minor allele of rs2946834, were associated (P ≤ 0.028) with a 1.49- to 2.22-fold higher risk of having advanced-stage prostate cancer. In addition, a genetic interaction profile consisting of IGF1 rs2946834 and IGF1R rs2016347 was significantly associated with PSA recurrence (P = 0.033). CONCLUSIONS: Our study is the first to evaluate the impact of SNPs in IGF1 pathway genes on PSA recurrence. A genetic interaction between IGF1 rs2946834 and IGF1R rs2016347 might be a predictor of outcomes following RP.

PURPOSE: Molecular epidemiology studies have shown that vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer risk. However, the prognostic value of these polymorphisms on clinical outcomes in prostate cancer patients receiving androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) has not been determined. METHODS: We evaluated the association of five common VDR polymorphisms, ApaI, Tru9I, BsmI, FokI, and Cdx2, with clinicopathologic characteristics and clinical outcomes, including disease progression, prostate cancer-specific mortality, and all-cause mortality, in a cohort of 601 prostate cancer patients treated with ADT. RESULTS: Of the five VDR polymorphisms, FokI rs2228570 and BsmI rs1544410 were associated with Gleason score at diagnosis (P = 0.043) and prostate-specific antigen nadir following ADT (P = 0.023), respectively. The haplotype analysis revealed that the A-A-G (ApaI-Tru9I-BsmI) compared with C-G-G individuals were more likely to have high Gleason score (P = 0.050). However, none of these polymorphisms were significantly associated with disease progression and mortality after ADT. CONCLUSIONS: This is the largest study to date investigating the association of VDR polymorphisms and clinical outcomes in prostate cancer patients receiving ADT. Polymorphisms in the VDR gene might be associated with Gleason score, but these polymorphisms had no main effect on predicting response to ADT.

RESUMEN

A series of A/D-ring substituted dibenzo[de,g]quinolin-7-ones was produced from the corresponding isoquinolinones and (2-bromophenyl)acetonitriles in four steps. This represents a convenient approach toward the synthesis of tetracyclic alkaloids. A direct conversion of 1-(2-bromobenzoyl)isoquinolines to dibenzo[de,g]quinolin-7-ones is the key step in the total synthesis. The yield of the reductive photocyclization depends on the position of the substituents at the isoquinolyl ring and the phenyl group. The mechanism of the reductive photocyclization is also discussed.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer metastasis is a multistep process involving degradation of extracellular matrix components by proteolytic enzymes. Among them, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are the principal degrading enzymes and their expressions/activities are also correlated with survival. Much research has showed the associations between genetic polymorphisms in MMPs and risk of colorectal cancer; however, their prognostic significance has not been well determined. METHODS: We selected and genotyped 4 cancer-associated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in a cohort of 282 colorectal cancer patients. The associations of these SNPs with distant metastasis-free survival and overall survival were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier analysis, Cox regression model, and survival tree analysis. RESULTS: The relative risks of developing distant metastasis after curative surgery were higher in individuals with minor homozygote AA genotype than in those with GG/GA genotypes at MMP2 rs243866 (P = 0.012). Survival tree analysis also identified a higher-order genetic interaction profile consisting of MMP2 rs243866 and MMP2 rs2285053 that was significantly associated with distant metastasis-free survival (P trend = 0.016). After adjusting for possible confounders, the genetic interaction profile remained significant (P trend = 0.050). CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that genetic variations in the MMP2 might be potential predictors of distant metastasis-free survival after curative surgery.

6-(N,N-Dimethylamino)-2-(naphthalene-1-yl)-4-quinazolinone (DPQZ)-induced apoptosis was accompanied by the characteristics of DNA fragmentation and phosphatidylserine externalization in human oral cancer HSC-3 cells. The IC50 (half maximal inhibitory concentration) value of DPQZ is about 0.25 µM at 24 h. The interference in the dynamics of tubulin and cell division of DPQZ, like vinblastine (0.01 µM), has been proven in this study. Treatment of HSC-3 cells with DPQZ resulted in many of mitotic cells with multipolar spindles. Up-regulation of MAP kinases, such as ERK, JNK, and p38, mediated by DPQZ appears to be involved in DPQZ-induced apoptosis in HSC-3 cells. It is worthy of note that the expression of Ras and c-Raf that lie upstream of ERK were inhibited by DPQZ. In addition, the DPQZ-induced cell death was attenuated by JNK inhibitor SP600125 (3 or 10 µM), not by the ERK or p38 inhibitors. JNK inhibitor abolished the DPQZ-induced increase in the phosphorylation of Bcl-2 and the protein levels of proform caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9, indicating that JNK is an upstream activator of Bcl-2 and caspase family members and plays a key role in DPQZ-induced HSC-3 cell apoptosis. We also attempted to develop an anticancer drug that is designed to kill rapidly dividing cancer cells while causing less damage to normal cells. The DPQZ-induced cytotoxicity against human gingival fibroblasts was less than that against HSC-3 cells. Our work provides a new strategy and mechanism for developing anticancer drug and may contribute to clinical anticancer drug discovery and application.

Chronic inflammation is thought to be the leading cause of colorectal cancer, and interleukin-10 (IL10) has been identified as a potent immunomodulatory cytokine that regulates inflammatory responses in the gastrointestinal tract. Although several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IL10 have been associated with the risk of colorectal cancer, their prognostic significance has not been determined. Two hundred and eighty-two colorectal cancer patients were genotyped for two candidate cancer-associated SNPs in IL10. The associations of these SNPs with distant metastasis-free survival and overall survival were evaluated by Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression model. The minor homozygote GG genotype of IL10 rs3021094 was significantly associated with a 3.30-fold higher risk of death compared with the TT+TG genotypes (P=0.011). The patients with IL10 rs3021094 GG genotype also had a poorer overall survival in Kaplan-Meier analysis (log-rank P=0.007) and in multivariate Cox regression model (P=0.044) adjusting for age, gender, carcinoembryonic antigen levels, tumor differentiation, stage, lymphovascular invasion, and perineural invasion. In conclusion, our results suggest that IL10 rs3021094 might be a valuable prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer patients.

Two new norsesquiterpenoids, solanerianones A and B (1-2), together with nine known compounds, including four sesquiterpenoids, (-)-solavetivone (3), (+)-anhydro-ß-rotunol (4), solafuranone (5), lycifuranone A (6); one alkaloid, N-trans-feruloyltyramine (7); one fatty acid, palmitic acid (8); one phenylalkanoid, acetovanillone (9), and two steroids, ß-sitosterol (10) and stigmasterol (11) were isolated from the n-hexane-soluble part of the roots of Solanum erianthum. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of physical and spectroscopic data analyses. The anti-inflammatory activity of these isolates was monitored by nitric oxide (NO) production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated murine macrophage RAW264.7 cells. The cytotoxicity towards human lung squamous carcinoma (CH27), human hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep 3B), human oral squamous carcinoma (HSC-3) and human melanoma (M21) cell lines was also screened by using an MTT assay. Of the compounds tested, 3 exhibited the strongest NO inhibition with the average maximum inhibition (Emax) at 100 µM and median inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of 98.23% ± 0.08% and 65.54 ± 0.18 µM, respectively. None of compounds (1-9) was found to possess cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines at concentrations up to 30 µM.

Androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) is the most common therapy for advanced prostate cancer, but the prognosis significantly differs among individuals. In this study, we evaluated recently identified 19 prostate cancer susceptibility variants as prognostic predictors for the survival after ADT. A total of 601 prostate cancer patients treated with ADT were enrolled in this study cohort. The prognostic significance of the prostate cancer risk variants on disease progression, prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM) and all-cause mortality (ACM) after ADT were assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression model. Two polymorphisms, rs16901979 and rs7931342, were significantly associated with PCSM (p = 0.005 for rs16901979 and p = 0.038 for rs7931342), and rs16901979 was also associated with ACM (p = 0.003) following ADT. Although the effect of rs7931342 was attenuated after controlling for other known clinical prognostic factors, rs16901979 remained a significant predictor for PCSM and ACM after ADT (p = 0.002). Moreover, the addition of the rs16901979 status in current clinical staging system further enhanced the risk prediction on PCSM and ACM particularly for the high-risk patients with distant metastasis (p < 0.017). In conclusion, this is the first study showing that prostate cancer risk variants, such as rs16901979, might improve outcome prediction following ADT, thus allowing identification of high-risk patients who might benefit from appropriate adjuvant therapy.

Submerged cultures of Ganoderma lucidum are used to produce fungal mycelium, which is used as a functional food and in the production of various triterpenoids, including ganoderic acids (GAs). Specific culture approaches that produce fungal mycelium with high levels of GAs and good biological activity are critical in the functional food industry. In this study, a solid-medium culture approach to producing mycelium was compared to the submerged culture system. Production of GAs, biomass, intracellular polysaccharides, and cytotoxicity of the cultured mycelium were compared as between solid and submerged culture. Growing G. lucidum strains on solid potato dextrose agar medium increased biomass, the production of ganoderic acid 24 (lanosta-7,9(11), 24-trien-3α-o1-26-oic acid), GAs, and total intracellular polysaccharides as compared to fungi grown in submerged culture. Triterpenoid-enriched methanol extracts of mycelium from solid-medium culture showed higher cytotoxicity than those from submerged culture. The IC(50) values of methanol extracts from solid-medium culture were 11.5, 8.6, and 9.9 times less than submerged culture on human lung cancer cells CH27, melanoma cells M21, and oral cancer cells HSC-3 respectively. The squalene synthase and lanosterol synthase coding genes had higher expression on the culture of solid potato dextrose medium. This is the first report that solid-medium culture is able to increase GA production significantly as compared to submerged culture and, in the process, produces much higher biological activity. This indicates that it may be possible to enhance the production of GAs by implementing mycelium culture on solid medium.

White strain of Hypsizygus marmoreus is named as white genius mushroom (WGM) and is a popular food in Taiwan. We have confirmed the cytotoxicity of WGM extracts on human Hep3B liver cancer cells. A total of 8711 significantly differential genes were identified through large-scale transcriptome sequencing. According to the KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, autophagy, mitophagy and apoptosis pathways were identified as significant in WGM extracts-treated cells. WGM extracts induced a dose-dependent generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and membrane-enclosed vacuoles in Hep3B cells. The inhibition of ROS by the ROS scavengers blocked the induction of cell death and vacuoles formation. We suggested that the cell death and membrane-enclosed vacuoles induced by WGM extracts are dependent on ROS production in Hep3B cells. (2E,6E)-3,7,11,15,19,23,27,31,35-Nonamethylhexatriaconta-2,6,34-triene-1,11,15,19,23,27,31-heptol and (18:2) lysophosphatidylcholine were identified in WGM extracts. In addition to being a very popular edible mushrooms, WGM may be developed into a dietary supplement or dietary chemopreventive agent for the cancer treatment.

The aim of this study was to investigate the anticancer mechanisms of white genius mushroom (WGM). WGM is a popular edible mushroom in Taiwan and has been demonstrated to mediate potent antiproliferation effects against human Hep3B liver cancer cells in our previous study. According to next generation sequencing technology and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, mTOR and MAPK signaling pathways were markedly changed during treatment with WGM extracts in Hep3B cells. Therefore, this study examined the effects of WGM extracts on the expression of mTOR and MAPK signaling pathway-related proteins, such as PI3K, Akt, mTOR, Ras, Raf, MEK, ERK, p38 and JNK in Hep3B cells. According to the results of immunoblotting, we demonstrated that the protein expression of the members of PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK signaling pathways were involved in WGM extracts-induced cell death. Furthermore, the inhibitors of PI3K/Akt/mTOR and MAPK signaling pathways such as rapamycin, MK2206, LY3214996 and SB202190, blocked the induction of cell death and vacuoles formation induced by WGM extracts. This study also demonstrated that WGM extracts is able to inhibit Hep3B cell migration and colony formation in a dose-dependent manner. In addition to being a very popular food, WGM should be a pharmacologically safe natural agent for cancer treatment. Therefore, WGM might be designed to develop into a dietary chemopreventive agent for the cancer treatment.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of ceftobiprole for acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs). METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, EBSO, Ovid Medline, ClinicalTrial.gov and Cochrane Library were searched until 25 December 2020. Only randomized controlled trials that compared the treatment efficacy of ceftobiprole with that of other antibiotics for adult patients with ABSSSIs were included in this meta-analysis. RESULTS: The 3 RCTs involving 2291 adult patients with ABSSSIs were included. No significant difference in clinical success, as measured by the TOC, was observed between ceftobiprole and comparators among the intention-to-treat population (OR, 1.06; 95% CI, 0.85-1.33; I2 = 0%) and clinical evaluable population (OR, 1.17; 95% CI, 0.76-1.79; I2 = 17%). Ceftobiprole was associated with a similar risk of adverse events (AEs) to that of comparators. CONCLUSIONS: Ceftobiprole can achieve similar clinical and microbiological responses as alternative antibiotics in patients with ABSSSIs. In addition, ceftobiprole shares a similar safety profile to comparators.

Photodynamic therapy was found to be an effective therapy for local malignant tumors. This study demonstrated that 80 µg/ml Hedyotis corymbosa extracts with 0.8 J/cm(2) fluence dose caused M21 skin cancer cell death. Photoactivated H. corymbosa-induced M21 cell death is a typical apoptosis that is accompanied by nuclear condensation, externalization of phosphatidylserine and the changes in protein expression of apoptosis-related proteins, such as Bcl-2 and caspase family members. This study applied 2D electrophoresis to analyse the proteins involved in the photoactivated H. corymbosa-induced M21 cell apoptosis. We found 12 proteins to be markedly changed. According to the results of protein sequence analysis of these altered protein spots, we identified that the expression of cytoskeletal proteins and chaperones were involved in the photoactivated H. corymbosa-induced M21 cell apoptosis. We further demonstrated that photoactivated H. corymbosa caused a significant effect on the cytoskeleton distribution and mitochondrial activity in M21 cells. Based on the above findings, this study characterized the effects and mechanisms of the photoactivated H. corymbosa-induced apoptosis in M21 skin cancer cells.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association of RUNX1 rs2253319 with clinicopathological characteristics of prostate cancer (PCa) and disease recurrence after radical prostatectomy (RP). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Taking advantage of the systematic stage and grade for each tumor in a cohort of 314 patients with localized PCa receiving RP, we evaluated the associations of RUNX1 rs2253319 with age at diagnosis, preoperative prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, Gleason score, surgical margin, pathologic stage, status of lymph node metastasis, and PSA recurrence after RP. RESULTS: The minor allele, T, and the minor homozygote TT genotype of RUNX1 rs2253319 were significantly associated with a 1.49- to 2.76-fold higher risk for advanced pathologic stage and a 3.35- to 9.52-fold higher risk for lymph node metastasis. RUNX1 rs2253319 TT genotype was also associated with poorer PSA-free survival compared with the major homozygote CC genotype in Kaplan-Meier analysis (log-rank test, P= 0.038) and multivariate Cox proportional hazards model adjusting for age and PSA concentration (P= 0.045). CONCLUSION: RUNX1 rs2253319 is associated with adverse clinicopathological features and might be a prognostic factor for the recurrence of PSA in patients with PCa receiving RP.
