RESUMEN

The catalytic electro-oxidation of some small organic molecules is known to display kinetic instabilities, which reflect on potential and/or current oscillations. Under oscillatory conditions, those systems can be considered electrocatalytic oscillators and, therefore, can be described by their amplitude, frequency, and waveform. Just like mechanical oscillators, the electrocatalytic ones can be coupled and their dynamics can be changed by setting different coupling parameters. In the present work, we study the unidirectional coupling of electrocatalytic oscillators, namely, those comprehending the catalytic electro-oxidation of methanol and formic acid on polycrystalline platinum in acidic media under potentiostatic control. Herein, we explore two different scenarios (the coupling of compositionally identical and non-identical oscillators) and investigate the effects of the master's identity and of the coupling constant on the slave's dynamics. For the master (methanol)-slave (methanol) coupling, the oscillators exhibited phase lag synchronization and complete phase synchronization. On the other hand, for the master (formic acid)-slave (methanol) coupling, the oscillators exhibited complete phase synchronization with phase-locking with a 2:3 ratio, complete phase synchronization with phase-locking with a 1:2 ratio, phase lag synchronization, and complete phase synchronization. The obtained results suggest that both the master's identity and the coupling constant (sign and magnitude) are parameters that play an important role on the coupled systems, in such a way that even for completely different systems, synchronization could emerge by setting a suitable coupling constant. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report concerning the electrical coupling of hidden N-shaped-negative differential resistance type systems.

The rice stalk stink bug, Tibraca limbativentris, is an important rice pest in Brazil with a high invasive potential for Mexico and the USA. The sex pheromone of this species was previously identified as a combination of two stereoisomers of 1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol (zingiberenol), but the absolute configurations of these sesquiterpenes were not determined, neither were their effect(s) on T. limbativentris behavior evaluated. In this study, using two chiral columns, we compared retention times of the two natural 1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol stereoisomers from air-entrainment samples of male T. limbativentris with those of synthetic stereoisomers of 1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol. The results showed that T. limbativentris males produce (3S,6S,7R)-1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol (1) and (3R,6S,7R)-1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol (5) as their sex pheromone. Two new minor, male-specific components were also identified as cis and trans isomers of 2,10-bisaboladien-1-ol (sesquipiperitol). Y-tube olfactometer bioassays showed that the major (3S,6S,7R) isomer 1 was essential for attraction of T. limbativentris females, but the minor (3R,6S,7R) isomer 2 was not, nor did it show synergistic/antagonistic effects when added to the major isomer. The (1S,6S,7R) and (1R,6S,7R) stereoisomers of sesquipepiritol also attracted T. limbativentris females.

Rare earth elements (REEs) are naturally distributed in the environment, and are increasingly being used in agriculture and high technology materials worldwide, thereby increasing anthropogenic contamination and environmental risks. There exists scarce and contradictory toxicity information about REEs; hence, more studies are required, especially on their mixtures. Thus, this study aimed to assess the toxicities of La3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, and the combinations of these elements (binary 1:1 and ternary 1:1:1), to organisms from different trophic levels: producers (the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris and Raphidocelis subcapitata), primary consumers (the microcrustaceans Daphnia similis and Artemia salina), and decomposers (the fungi Penicillium simplicissimum and Aspergillus japonicus). Ecotoxicological bioassays were performed, and toxic concentrations were determined. Thereafter, toxicities of single and mixture REEs were classified as slightly to highly toxic according to their toxic units. Finally, a concentration addition (CA) model was used to estimate how REEs interact upon combining. Nd3+ was the most toxic element for all organisms, especially D. similis (48 h LC50 9.41 mg.L-1), and was therefore classified as highly toxic. Sm3+ promoted cell agglomeration in Chlorella vulgaris and was the most toxic of the tested elements for this organism (72 h IC50 25.78 mg.L-1). The CA model revealed synergistic responses for most of the combinations, principally Nd3+ + Sm3+, which was the most toxic combination for the tested organisms. Both fungi were the most resistant organisms, and A. japonicus produced exudate and sclerotia, which help in the detoxification of chemicals. Owing not only to the fact that fungi displayed a higher resistance to REEs, but also due to the absence of regulations for REEs released from the agricultural or industrial sector, and the lack of methods to treat effluents or to dispose of technological items containing REEs, these organisms should be considered as a model for the biosorption or bioremediation of REEs. Finally, the toxic effects of REEs, particularly Nd3+, on the biota and human health should be the focus of future studies due to their increased use in technology.

INTRODUCTION: Insulinomas are a rare type of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours characterized by insulin hypersecretion. They are considered malignant when metastases are present. Traditional therapies often promote only temporarily symptomatic relief and may be associated with severe adverse effects. There is scarce experience in treating malignant insulinomas with peptide receptors radionuclide therapy (PRRNT). PATIENTS AND METHODS: We describe PRRNT results in four patients with inoperable malignant insulinomas with poorly controllable hypoglycaemia. All patients received therapy with 177Lu-DOTA-TATE after conventional therapies failed in controlling disease progression and symptoms. The activity administered per cycle was 4.8-7.4 GBq. The interval between cycles was 10-16 weeks. Haematology, liver and kidney function tests were performed before treatment initiation and 5 and 10 weeks after each cycle. RESULTS: Patient 1 presented significant clinical benefit for 13 months after PRRNT, with imaging improvement. Patient 2 obtained reduction of the number and severity of hypoglycaemic episodes during 15 months after therapy. Patient 3 is asymptomatic since PRRNT first cycle performed 23 months ago and revealed significant imaging improvement. Patient 4 had resolution of hypoglycaemia only 3 days after PRRNT first cycle and today, 16 months after therapy, the disease seems to be in remission and the patient maintains euglycaemic state. PRRNT was well tolerated, with only hematologic grade 2 toxicity in patient 1 and mild kidney toxicity in patient 3. CONCLUSIONS: After the start of 177Lu-DOTA-TATE all patients achieved hypoglycaemia symptomatic control and had evident improvement of their quality of life. Three patients showed imagiological improvement suggesting reduced tumour load.

Male obesity is associated with decreased testosterone levels but the pathophysiological mechanisms behind this association are not completely understood. This study aimed to investigate the impact of hyperglycaemia/insulin resistance and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels on testosterone levels in a population of obese men. We investigated the impact of several clinical, anthropometric and analytic measures on testosterone levels in 150 obese males. Testosterone deficiency was present in 52.0% of the enrolled patients. This percentage dropped to 17.6% when only calculated free testosterone (FT) was accounted, as SHBG levels were correlated negatively with body mass index (r = -.20; p < .05). Older age (p < .05) and higher homoeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (p < .01) and lower SHBG levels (p < .05) were independently correlated with lower FT. Weight and fasting plasma glucose lost their statistical significance after multivariate adjustment. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and pre-diabetes had lower FT than those with normal glucose tolerance (p < .05 and p < .01 respectively). Insulin resistance, and not hyperglycaemia and weight per se, seems to be the main determinant of low testosterone levels in obese males. Low SHBG levels are correlated with low FT even after HOMA-IR adjustment. This suggests that SHBG can be associated with testosterone deficiency beyond the influence of insulin resistance unlike previously reported.

Previous studies have shown that the boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis, is attracted to constitutive and conspecific herbivore-induced cotton volatiles, preferring the blend emitted by cotton at the reproductive over the vegetative stage. Moreover, this preference was paralleled by the release of the acyclic homoterpenes (tetranorterpenes) (E)-4,8-dimethyl-1,3,7-nonatriene (DMNT) and (E,E)-4,8,12-trimethyltrideca-1,3,7,11-tetraene (TMTT) in Delta Opal cotton being higher at the vegetative than at the reproductive stage. Here, we evaluated whether this difference in release of acyclic homoterpenes also occurred in other cotton varieties, and if boll weevils could recognize these compounds as indicators of a specific cotton phenological stage. Results showed that cotton genotypes CNPA TB-90, BRS-293 and Delta Opal all produced higher levels of DMNT and TMTT at the vegetative stage than at the reproductive stage and that these homoterpenes allowed for principal component analysis separation of volatiles produced by the two phenological stages. Electroantennograms confirmed boll weevil antennal responses to DMNT and TMTT. Behavioral assays, using Y-tube olfactometers, showed that adding synthetic homoterpenes to reproductive cotton volatiles (mimicking cotton at the vegetative stage in terms of homoterpene levels) resulted in reduced attraction to boll weevils compared to that to unmodified reproductive cotton. Weevils showed no preference when given a choice between plants at the vegetative stage and the vegetative stage-mimicked plant. Altogether, the results show that DMNT and TMTT are used by boll weevils to distinguish between cotton phenological stages.

BACKGROUND: To analyze articles that studied patients submitted to diphosphonates therapy and who received dental implants before, during or after bisphosphonate (BP) treatment, compared to healthy patients, analyzing the increase of failure and loss of implants or bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) incidence. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement was used in this study. The clinical question in "PICO" format was: In patients under bisphosphonate therapy, do dental implants placement, compared to healthy patients, increase the failure and loss of implants or bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw incidence? PubMed/MEDLINE was searched for articles published up until April 15, 2015 using a combination of MeSH terms and their Entry terms. RESULTS: The search resulted in 375 articles. After selection according to the eligibility criteria, 15 studies fulfilled were included (eight retrospective, one prospective and six case series), with a total of 1339 patients analyzed, 3748 implants placed, 152 loss of implants and 78 cases of BRONJ. CONCLUSIONS: Due to the lack of randomized clinical trials looking at this theme, further studies with longer follow-up are needed to elucidate the remaining questions. Thus, it is wise to be careful when planning dental implant surgery in patients undergoing bisphosphonate therapy because of the risk of developing BRONJ as well as occurring failure of implant. Moreover, complete systemic condition of the patient must be also taking into considering when such procedures are performed.

The genetic heterogeneity presented by different cell lines derived from glioblastoma (GBM) seems to influence their responses to antitumoral agents. Although GBM tumors present several genomic alterations, it has been assumed that TP53, frequently mutated in GBM, may to some extent be responsible for differences in cellular responses to antitumor agents, but this is not clear yet. To directly determine the impact of TP53 on GBM response to ionizing radiation, we compared the transcription profiles of four GBM cell lines (two with wild-type (WT) TP53 and two with mutant (MT) TP53) after 8Gy of gamma-rays. Transcript profiles of cells analyzed 30 min and 6h after irradiation showed that WT TP53 cells presented a higher number of modulated genes than MT TP53 cells. Our findings also indicate that there are several pathways (apoptosis, DNA repair/stress response, cytoskeleton organization and macromolecule metabolic process) in radiation responses of GBM cell lines that were modulated only in WT TP53 cells (30 min and 6h). Interestingly, the majority of differentially expressed genes did not present the TP53 binding site, suggesting secondary effects of TP53 on transcription. We conclude that radiation-induced changes in transcription profiles of irradiated GBM cell lines mainly depend on the functional status of TP53.

With 199Hg atoms confined in an optical lattice trap in the Lamb-Dicke regime, we obtain a spectral line at 265.6 nm for which the FWHM is ~15 Hz. Here we lock an ultrastable laser to this ultranarrow 1S0-3P0 clock transition and achieve a fractional frequency instability of 5.4×10(-15)/✓τ for τ ≤ 400 s. The highly stable laser light used for the atom probing is derived from a 1062.6 nm fiber laser locked to an ultrastable optical cavity that exhibits a mean drift rate of -6.0×10(-17) s(-1) (-16.9 mHz s(-1) at 282 THz) over a six month period. A comparison between two such lasers locked to independent optical cavities shows a flicker noise limited fractional frequency instability of 4×10(-16) per cavity.

The boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis, has been monitored through deployment of traps baited with aggregation pheromone components. However, field studies have shown that the number of insects caught in these traps is significantly reduced during cotton squaring, suggesting that volatiles produced by plants at this phenological stage may be involved in attraction. Here, we evaluated the chemical profile of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by undamaged or damaged cotton plants at different phenological stages, under different infestation conditions, and determined the attractiveness of these VOCs to adults of A. grandis. In addition, we investigated whether or not VOCs released by cotton plants enhanced the attractiveness of the aggregation pheromone emitted by male boll weevils. Behavioral responses of A. grandis to VOCs from conspecific-damaged, heterospecific-damaged (Spodoptera frugiperda and Euschistus heros) and undamaged cotton plants, at different phenological stages, were assessed in Y-tube olfactometers. The results showed that volatiles emitted from reproductive cotton plants damaged by conspecifics were attractive to adults boll weevils, whereas volatiles induced by heterospecific herbivores were not as attractive. Additionally, addition of boll weevil-induced volatiles from reproductive cotton plants to aggregation pheromone gave increased attraction, relative to the pheromone alone. The VOC profiles of undamaged and mechanically damaged cotton plants, in both phenological stages, were not different. Chemical analysis showed that cotton plants produced qualitatively similar volatile profiles regardless of damage type, but the quantities produced differed according to the plant's phenological stage and the herbivore species. Notably, vegetative cotton plants released higher amounts of VOCs compared to reproductive plants. At both stages, the highest rate of VOC release was observed in A. grandis-damaged plants. Results show that A. grandis uses conspecific herbivore-induced volatiles in host location, and that homoterpene compounds, such as (E)-4,8-dimethylnona-1,3,7-triene and (E,E)-4,8,12-trimethyltrideca-1,3,7,11-tetraene and the monoterpene (E)-ocimene, may be involved in preference for host plants at the reproductive stage.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor-A(165) (VEGF-A(165)) on the in vitro development of goat secondary preantral follicles. Preantral follicles (≥150 µm in diameter) were isolated from the ovaries of adult mixed-breed goats and individually cultured for 18 days in αMEM in the absence (control) or presence of VEGF-A(165) at concentrations of 10 ng/ml (VEGF10) and 100 ng/ml (VEGF100). Analyses of follicular survival, diameter, antrum formation and rate of daily growth were performed every 6 days. At the end of the culture period, morphologically normal oocytes (≥110 µm in diameter) were taken for in vitro maturation (IVM). The results demonstrated that all follicles presented oocytes and granulosa cells that were morphologically normal and after labeling with calcein-AM, high rates of oocyte viability were observed in all treatments. The follicular diameter and the growth rate achieved in the presence of VEGF10 were higher than those of the control. Both treatments with VEGF-A(165) showed higher rates of oocyte recovery for IVM when compared with the control. Moreover, only the addition of VEGF-A(165) permitted oocytes grown in vitro to reach metaphase II. Thus, the addition of VEGF-A(165) to the culture medium improves the development of goat preantral follicles cultured in vitro, allowing the production of mature oocytes.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different medium replacement intervals on the viability, antral cavity formation, growth and in vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes from caprine and ovine pre-antral follicles. Pre-antral ovarian follicles (≥ 150 µm) were isolated from the ovarian cortex of goats and sheep and were individually cultured for 24 days using two different medium replacement intervals [2 days (T(1) ) or 6 days (T(2) )]. Follicle development was evaluated on the basis of antral cavity formation, increases in follicular diameter and the presence of healthy cumulus oocyte complexes and fully grown oocytes. For caprine species, results showed a higher percentage (p<0.05) of viable follicles in T(1) than T(2) from day 6 until the end of the culture. In addition, when comparing both treatments after the same culture duration, the rate of antrum formation was significantly higher in T(1) than in T(2) from day 12 onwards. Yet, in ovines, when both treatments were compared on day 24 of the culture, there were more viable follicles in T(2) than in T(1) (p<0.05). In the caprine species, percentages of fully grown oocytes (≥ 110 µm) acceptable for IVM after 24 days of culture were significantly higher in normal follicles cultured in T(1) (30.0%) than in T(2) (6.7%; p<0.05). On the other hand, in ovines, at the end of the culture, the percentage of oocytes destined for IVM was higher in T(2) than in T(1) (23.5% vs 2.9%; p<0.05). In conclusion, under the same conditions, the frequency of medium replacement significantly affected the in vitro development of caprine and ovine pre-antral follicles. To improve the efficiency of the culture system, the medium must be replaced every 2 and 6 days for goat and sheep pre-antral follicles, respectively.

The extraction of small lipophilic molecules (SLMs) in the soil-root interface that play a role in belowground ecological interactions between plants and insect herbivores was investigated. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microtubing has been shown to absorb root SLMs selectively in low-disturbance setups, where analytes were extracted from the polymer with methanol. This technique was adapted to isolate SLMs that diffuse in the vapour phase in soil and sand and under various experimental parameters, extracting with a plug of diethyl ether pushed through the length of the silicon tubing. Moisture level had a substrate-dependent effect on the recovery rate of analytes that were applied as synthetic blends of known belowground SLM semiochemicals in the media. Higher amounts of two selected SLMs, (E)-caryophyllene and (-)-thujopsene, were extracted from sand, and increased polymer and solvent volume, as well as sampling duration, resulted in more of these two SLMs recovered by extraction. It was also shown that PDMS tubes lose no extraction capacity after repeated use. The signature compound (E)-caryophyllene was successfully isolated from the rhizosphere of maize plants infested with Diabrotica v. virgifera larvae by extracting the silicon tubing with diethyl ether. Because the tubes are preconditioned to reduce the presence of contaminants, such extracts can be directly analysed by GC and GC-MS and used in electrophysiological and behavioural assays. After further modifications, non-invasive, in situ PDMS probes can be developed that extract SLMs from plant rhizosphere for the study of belowground chemical ecology processes.

INTRODUCTION: Several reports highlight bariatric surgery as an efficient and long-lasting strategy for weight loss. Herein, we aimed to evaluate the impact of bariatric surgery on 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and to compare the effectiveness of different surgical procedures, employing the Framingham Risk Score (FRS). METHODS: Retrospective longitudinal observational study of patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Data was assessed preoperatively and during a 4-year follow-up period. RESULTS: We evaluated 1449 individuals, 85.2% female, age of 42.4 ± 10.6 years, and preoperative BMI of 44.3 ± 5.8 kg/m2; 58.0% underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), 23.4% sleeve gastrectomy (SG), and 18.6% adjustable gastric band (AGB). The 10-year CVD risk decreased 43.6% in the first postoperative year. The decrease in FRS was more pronounced in the RYGB group (50.5% in the first postoperative year) (p < 0.001). Although there was a subsequent slight increase in FRS during the follow-up period, the cardiovascular benefits were maintained when compared with baseline. For all surgical procedures, CVD risk showed a quadratic trend with a J-shaped curve. A negative interaction between the RYGB group CVD risk and time was observed (ß = - 0.072 (95% CI, - 0.109; - 0.035)). In the RYGB group, FRS decreased more when compared with the SG and AGB groups and, from the second postoperative year onwards, increased more slowly, regardless of gender. The SG group showed similar trend as that of the AGB (ß = - 0.002 (95% CI, - 0.049; 0.053)). CONCLUSION: Our study showed a significant reduction of 10-year CVD risk after bariatric surgery. This decrease was more pronounced in the first postoperative year, and RYGB was the procedure with the greatest decrease of the 10-year CVD risk.

Porcine pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (pFSH) is known to regulate the production of growth factors that have an essential role in early foliculogenesis. However, the effects of different preparations of pFSH on the survival and development of caprine follicles are not yet known. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different pFSH (Stimufol and Folltropin) on the in vitro survival and growth of caprine preantral follicles. Pieces of caprine ovarian tissues were cultured for either one or seven days in a supplemented Minimum Essential Medium, alone or containing either Stimufol (50 ng/mL) or Folltropin (10, 50, 100 and 1000 ng/mL). Fresh control ovarian tissues as well as cultured tissued were processed for histological and ultrastructural studies. The results showed that after seven days, only Stimufol maintained follicular morphology similar to control. Moreover, follicular degeneration was higher in medium alone or with Folltropin at 50, 100 and 1000 ng/mL. However, at day seven, the percentage of growing follicles was higher in 100 ng/mL of Folltropin than Stimufol. In conclusion, FSH preparations affect differently the performance of in vitro culture of caprine preantral follicles. Stimufol was better to preserve follicular morphology while Folltropin was more efficient to promote follicular growth.

The objective of this study was to investigate the capacity of decolorization and detoxification of the textile dyes Reactive Red 198 (RR198), Reactive Blue 214 (RB214), Reactive Blue 21 (RB21) and the mixture of the three dyes (MXD) by Penicillium simplicissimum INCQS 40211. The dye RB21, a phthalocyanine, was totally decolorized in 2 days, and the others, the monoazo RR198, the diazo RB214 and MXD were decolorized after 7 days by P. simplicissimum. Initially the dye decolorization involved dye adsorption by the biomass followed by degradation. The acute toxicity after fungal treatment was monitored with the microcrustacean Daphnia pulex and measured through Effective Concentration 50% (EC50). P. simplicissimum reduced efficiently the toxicity of RB21 from moderately acutely toxic to minor acutely toxic and it also reduced the toxicity of RB214 and MXD, which remained minor acutely toxic. Nevertheless, the fungus increased the toxicity of RR198 despite of the reduction of MXD toxicity, which included this dye. Thus, P. simplicissimum INCQS 40211 was efficient to decolorize different textile dyes and the mixture of them with a significant reduction of their toxicity. In addition this investigation also demonstrated the need of toxicological assays associated to decolorization experiments.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the reproductive behavior and response of Elasmopalpus lignosellus (Zeller) males to calling females. Frequency of mating was recorded in couples during the first 7 days of the adult stage. Calling behavior of females was observed during the first 4 days of the adult stage and responses of males, in the same age intervals, to calling females were recorded in wind tunnel bioassays. The maximum number of matings occurred when the couple was between 24 and 48 h old. The scotophase period significantly influenced mating behavior, which peaked between 6 and 8 h of darkness and the mean mating duration was 93.9 ± 4.2 min. Calling females, when evaluated in a wind tunnel, attracted significantly more males than in bioassays with clean air (control). The number of individuals in calling behavior was significantly lower for females that were between 0 to 24 h old compared to the other females evaluated, but this did not influence male response. A lower proportion of males between 48 to 72 h old responded to calling females and these responses were delayed in comparison with males of other ages (0 to 24, 24 to 48, and 72 to 96 h old). These results indicate that the age of E. lignosellus males influences the response to conspecific calling females.

Melissa officinalis is a plant from the family Lamiaceae, native in Europe particularly in the Mediterranean region. Given our interest in identifying extracts and compounds capable of inhibiting tumor cell growth, and given the antioxidant content and the high consumption of Melissa officinalis in Portugal, this study aimed to test the tumor cell growth inhibitory activity of five different extracts of this plant (aqueous, methanolic, ethanolic, hydromethanolic and hydroethanolic) in three human tumor cell lines: MCF-7, AGS and NCI-H460. All extracts decreased cell growth in all cell lines in a concentration-dependent manner. The ethanolic extract was the most potent one, presenting a GI50 concentration of approximately 100.9 µg mL-1 in the NCI-H460 lung cancer cells. This extract was characterized by LC-DAD-ESI/MS regarding its phenolic composition, revealing rosmarinic acid as the most abundant compound. The GI75 concentration of this extract affected the cell cycle profile of these cells. In addition, both the GI50 and the GI75 concentrations of the extract induced cellular apoptosis. Moreover, treatment of NCI-H460 cells with this extract caused a decrease in pro-caspase 3 and an increase in p53 levels. This study emphasizes the relevance of the study of natural products as inhibitors of tumor cell growth.

RESUMEN

Thyroid carcinoma is the most common endocrine neoplasia. Differentiated thyroid carcinomas (DTCs) represent the majority of cases, which usually follow an indolent clinical course with low mortality rates. The authors describe two cases of well DTC without classic histological poor prognosis features, presenting as extensive and unresectable osteolytic bone metastases. DTCs are considered harmless tumours, due to their benign and silent behaviour. The authors want to underline the importance of clinical awareness during follow-up in cases of DTC, which can be aggressive in presentation and behaviour. Timely identification and diagnosis of these tumours are essential for prompt treatment initiation and improvement of overall survival.
