BACKGROUND: Multisystem inflammatory disease in children (MIS-C) is a post-infectious condition following coronavirus disease-19 infection. Long-term follow-up data suggests that initial clinical severity does not necessarily correlate with long-term outcomes. The long-term immunological response in children with MIS-C remains poorly understood. We analyzed cytokine profiles at diagnosis and during follow-up, in pediatric patients with MIS-C, exploring correlations among cytokine expressions and standard biochemical and hormonal test results. METHODS: Twenty-five MIS-C patients (mean 9.4 ± 3.9) with complete test results at diagnosis and at 6- and 12-months follow-up were included in the study. Selected cytokines, such as IL-9, eotaxin, IP-10, MIP-1ß, RANTES, MCP-1(MCAF), TNF-α, PDGF-B, IL-4, and MIP-1α, were included in the analysis. RESULTS: IP-10, MCP-1 (MCAF), and MIP-1α levels normalized or nearly normalized at 6-12 months, the remaining cytokines, including IL-9, eotaxin, MIP-1ß, RANTES, TNF-α, PDGF-B, IL-4, remained higher in MIS-C than in controls at our last follow-up time. At 6 months post-diagnosis, a mild negative correlation between triglycerides and HOMA-IR with MCP-1 (MCAF), IL-4, and Eotaxin was noted. At the 12-month follow-up we found a mild positive correlation of cortisol and ACTH levels with PDGF-B, MIP-1α, and TNF-α. Conversely, a negative correlation between these cytokines with fasting glucose and HOMA-IR was observed. CONCLUSIONS: Our study findings highlight a notable cytokine-mediated inflammatory response in pediatric patients with MIS-C, characterized by sustained elevated levels over a 12-month monitoring period compared to the control group. We have identified various interrelationships among different cytokines, as well as correlations between heightened cytokine levels and metabolic and hormonal patterns. The pronounced inflammatory response underscores its involvement in acute organ damage, while its persistence suggests potential implications for long-term metabolic disorders.

The perinatal period is an extremely delicate phase that can involve a high risk for onset of depressive disorders. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) is a widely validated instrument for assessing perinatal depressive symptoms, including the dimension of anhedonia. There are studies suggesting that the neural mechanism underlying the occurrence of anhedonia in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar depression (BD) might be distinct. Anhedonia seems to represent a more stable and frequent symptom in women with postpartum bipolar relative to unipolar depressive disorder and is associated with significantly higher depressive symptom severity. Perinatal medicine is an important component of women's health. Treatment of anhedonia can be challenging, and the most effective treatment can be a combination of psychotherapy and medication, but the screening of anhedonia in peripartum women can prevent the development of other psychiatric disorders and maladaptive behaviors.

Therapeutic apheresis refers to a group of extracorporeal blood processing procedures used in the treatment of a variety of systemic diseases. These complex procedures are burdened by adverse reactions related to both procedures and underlying medical conditions. Given the importance of centralizing the collection and the analysis of information on therapeutic apheresis, the Italian National Blood Center (NBC), at the request of the Italian Scientific Society of Hemapheresis and Cell Manipulation (SIdEM), implemented the Italian Registry of Therapeutic Apheresis (IRTA) including it in the Information System of Transfusion Services (SISTRA), coordinated by the NBC. In 2022, a total of 34,702 therapeutic apheresis procedures was carried out in 8,781 patients, including paediatric patients, with an average of 3.9 procedures per patient. The 2022 IRTA data indicate that the patient with hematological and/or neurological disorders mainly turns to the apheresis centers. These results confirm the IRTA data from years 2020 and 2021. In the hematological field, the apheresis centers supply hematopoietic stem cells collection for autologous transplantation as well as mononuclear cell collection for extracorporeal photopheresis. With regard to the neurological field, myasthenia, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and Guillain-Barré syndrome along with other neurological pathologies related to immune disorders are the most treated. In conclusion, this manuscript presents 2022 activity data of IRTA providing institutions and scientific societies with a wide range of information including type and number of therapeutic procedures, adverse events and patients' outcome.

Adrenergic pathways represent the main channel of communication between the nervous system and the immune system. During inflammation, blood monocytes migrate within tissue and differentiate into macrophages, which polarize to M1 or M2 macrophages with tissue-damaging or -reparative properties, respectively. This study investigates whether the ß-adrenergic receptor (ß-AR)-blocking drug propranolol modulates the monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation process and further influences macrophages in their polarization toward M1- and M2-like phenotypes. Six-day-human monocytes were cultured with M-CSF in the presence or absence of propranolol and then activated toward an M1 pro-inflammatory state or an M2 anti-inflammatory state. The chronic exposure of monocytes to propranolol during their differentiation into macrophages promoted the increase in the M1 marker CD16 and in the M2 markers CD206 and CD163 and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor É£ expression. It also increased endocytosis and the release of IL-10, whereas it reduced physiological reactive oxygen species. Exposure to the pro-inflammatory conditions of propranolol-differentiated macrophages resulted in an anti-inflammatory promoting effect. At the molecular level, propranolol upregulated the expression of the oxidative stress regulators NRF2, heme oxygenase-1 and NQO1. By contributing to regulating macrophage activities, propranolol may represent a novel anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating compound with relevant therapeutic potential in several inflammatory diseases.

OBJECTIVES: to assess the variability in expenditure compared to 2022 assuming different rates of shifting of therapy days from current active ingredients used for the treatment of haemophilia B to nonacog beta pegolDesign: descriptive cross-sectional study. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS: consumption in the year 2022 (data source: Medicines Utilisation Monitoring Centre, Italian Medicines Agency) of all medicinal products available in Italy containing coagulation factor IX. MAIN OUTCOMES MEASURES: for each active ingredient, the total number of therapy days and the variability in expenditure compared to 2022 were estimated on the basis of a switch of therapy days, between 5% and 20%, to nonacog beta pegol. RESULTS: on the basis of considered scenarios, the analysis shows that the total annual expenditure for clotting factors used in the treatment of haemophilia B could remain at most unchanged or reduced. Particularly, the extent of the reduction in spending could vary from 0.11% to 2.26%. This trend would be in contrast to the stable increase seen in recent years, particularly in 2022. CONCLUSIONS: this predictive spending assessment may be useful in evaluating the economic impact from new treatment options, such as etranacogene dezaparvovec gene therapy already approved by the European Medicines Agency and the Food and Drug Administration, and to improve pharmaceutical governance.

OBJECTIVES: The determination of assay-dependent upper and lower reference limits (URL, LRL) of free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) during childhood and adolescence, is challenging. METHODS: Thyroid hormones were measured via the Abbott Alinity system in 502 euthyroid children partitioned in the following age groups: ≤2, 2.1-10, and 10.1-18 years. The 97.5th and 2.5th percentiles (URL and LRL) were derived according to CLSI EP28- A3c guidelines. Quantile regression models were used to assess: (a) 90% confidence intervals of the URL and LRL, (b) the effect of age on URL and LRL within each age class and on overall age range, (c) the difference between the URLs and LRLs estimated for each age partition with an estimate of the confidence interval divided by the reference interval being derived (CI/RI). RESULTS: The CI/RI for the LRLs are smaller as compared to the URLs, except for FT4 for the 2.1-10 years age group. Considering the CI/RI and the overlap between CIs across the three age groups, one single LRL might be considered for TSH, FT3 and FT4 between 0 and 18 years. However, for the URL, there was a noticeable decrease in the URL over the 3 age groups for all three biomarkers, with there being no overlap in CIs for the URL between the ≤2 vs. the 10.1-19 years age groups. CONCLUSIONS: A common LRL for TSH, FT4 and FT3 for patients aged ≤18 years may be utilized when these biomarkers are measured with the Alinity system. For the URLs the use of age-specific URLs for these biomarkers is recommended.

OBJECTIVES: Clinical practice guidelines endorse the stratification of prostate cancer (PCa) risk according to individual total prostate-specific antigen (tPSA) values and age to enhance the individual risk-benefit ratio. We defined two nomograms to predict the individual risk of high and low grade PCa by combining the assay of tPSA and %free/tPSA (%f/tPSA) in patients with a pre-biopsy tPSA between 2 and 10 µg/L. METHODS: The study cohort consisted of 662 patients that had fPSA, tPSA, and a biopsy performed (41.3% with a final diagnosis of PCa). Logistic regression including age, tPSA and %f/tPSA was used to model the probability of having high or low grade cancer by defining 3 outcome levels: no PCa, low grade (International Society of Urological Pathology grade, ISUP<3) and high grade PCa (ISUP≥3). RESULTS: The nomogram identifying patients with: (a) high vs. those with low grade PCa and without the disease showed a good discriminating capability (∼80%), but the calibration showed a risk of underestimation for predictive probabilities >30% (a considerable critical threshold of risk), (b) ISUP<3 vs. those without the disease showed a discriminating capability of 63% and overestimates predictive probabilities >50%. In ISUP 5 a possible loss of PSA immunoreactivity has been observed. CONCLUSIONS: The estimated risk of high or low grade PCa by the nomograms may be of aid in the decision-making process, in particular in the case of critical comorbidities and when the digital rectal examinations are inconclusive. The improved characterization of the risk of ISUP≥3 might enhance the use for magnetic resonance imaging in this setting.

In 2019, the Italian National Blood Center (NBC), at the request of the Italian Scientific Society of Haemapheresis and Cell Manipulation (SIdEM), included the Italian Registry of Therapeutic Apheresis (IRTA) in the Information System of Transfusion Services (SISTRA), whose activity is coordinated by the NBC. The IRTA provides institutions and scientific societies with a wide range of information including therapeutic procedures and outcomes of treated patients. The Italian National Health Service offers therapeutic apheresis for patients with various conditions, but it is mainly the patient with haematological and/or neurological disorders who turns to the apheresis centres as evidenced by the activity data of 2021. In the haematological field, the apheresis centres mainly supply haematopoietic stem cells for autologous or allogeneic transplantation as well as mononuclear cell collection for extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP), a therapeutic approach of II line in post-transplant Graft versus Host Disease. The activity of 2021 in the neurological field confirms the data of 2019, the pre-pandemic year, and indicates that myasthenia, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and Guillain-Barré syndrome along with other neurological pathologies related to immune disorders are the diseases in which apheresis procedures are most used. In conclusion, the IRTA is a valuable tool for monitoring the activity of apheresis centres carried out at a national level and above all for providing an overall picture of how the use of this therapeutic tool evolves and changes over time.

ABSTRACT: Dysfunctional parenting styles are risk factors for eating disorders (EDs). In this observational study, we examined 57 women with ED, a psychiatric control group (n = 26), and healthy participants (n = 60). Several instruments were administered: Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ-40) to examine the type of defense mechanism used, Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) to investigate the perception of the relationship with parents, Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire and Eating Disorder Inventory-3 to assess the severity of the ED, and Body Shape Questionnaire to investigate the perception of their body shape. In patients with anorexia and bulimia, neurotic factor (p = 0.007) and immature factor (p = 0.002) are associated with perception of relationship with their own parents. In the PBI, maternal care was associated with higher scores in the DSQ-40 in the immature factor (p = 0.012), whereas paternal overprotection was associated with lower scores in the DSQ-40 in the mature factor (p = 0.016). Patients with anorexia and bulimia overutilize more neurotic and primitive defense mechanisms compared with nonclinical subjects, and this use is associated with greater severity of eating symptomatology. This can be related to diversified ego forces, can inform about the nature and severity of disease, and can characterize prognostic and psychotherapeutic value.

The acoustic emission (AE) technique is one of the most widely used in the field of structural monitoring. Its popularity mainly stems from the fact that it belongs to the category of non-destructive techniques (NDT) and allows the passive monitoring of structures. The technique employs piezoelectric sensors to measure the elastic ultrasonic wave that propagates in the material as a result of the crack formation's abrupt release of energy. The recorded signal can be investigated to obtain information about the source crack, its position, and its typology (Mode I, Mode II). Over the years, many techniques have been developed for the localization, characterization, and quantification of damage from the study of acoustic emission. The onset time of the signal is an essential information item to be derived from waveform analysis. This information combined with the use of the triangulation technique allows for the identification of the crack location. In the literature, it is possible to find many methods to identify, with increasing accuracy, the onset time of the P-wave. Indeed, the precision of the onset time detection affects the accuracy of identifying the location of the crack. In this paper, two techniques for the definition of the onset time of acoustic emission signals are presented. The first method is based on the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) while the second one relies on the use of artificial intelligence (AI). A recurrent convolutional neural network (R-CNN) designed for sound event detection (SED) is trained on three different datasets composed of seismic signals and acoustic emission signals to be tested on a real-world acoustic emission dataset. The new method allows taking advantage of the similarities between acoustic emissions, seismic signals, and sound signals, enhancing the accuracy in determining the onset time.

RESUMEN

The National Blood Centre (NBC) at the request of the Italian Scientific Society of Haemapheresis and Cell Manipulation (SIdEM) has funded and developed a software dedicated to the collection of data related to therapeutic apheresis procedures, known as the Italian Registry of Therapeutic Apheresis (IRTA). Although on a voluntary basis, participation in the registry was widespread. The data collected includes type and number of procedures, patients treated and their outcomes, and reported adverse events to the procedures. For the years 2019 and 2020, the therapeutic apheresis procedure was widely used in the field of haematology, transplantation and rheumatology and was mainly associated with mild adverse events, thus showing a high level of safety. In addition to allowing the competent institution to monitor an important activity in the transfusion medicine field, the Registry is a new starting point for collaboration between transfusion centres distributed throughout the national territory and could encourage the design of major clinical trials.

BackgroundIn high-income countries, hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is mainly a zoonosis. However, it is also transfusion-transmissible and some countries, but not Italy, have introduced HEV screening for blood donations.AimWe assessed HEV infection prevalence and risk factors in a nationwide sample of Italian blood donors.MethodsWe selected 107 blood establishments (BE) distributed in the 20 Italian regions by a stratified two-stage design and invited them to participate in the study. Donors were tested for anti-HEV IgG and IgM and HEV RNA. Sociodemographic data and risk factors were collected through a questionnaire.ResultsOverall, 60 BE from 60 provinces in 19 Italian regions joined the study. We assessed HEV markers in 7,172 blood donors, of whom 6,235 completed the questionnaire. Overall crude and adjusted anti-HEV IgG prevalences were 8.3% and 5.5%, respectively. Overall anti-HEV IgM prevalence was 0.5%, while no blood donor was HEV RNA-positive. Anti-HEV IgG prevalence varied widely among regions (range: 1.3%-27.20%) and hyperendemic prevalences (> 40%) were detected in some provinces in two regions. Older age (AOR = 1.81; 95% CI: 1.36-2.41), foreign nationality (AOR = 2.77; 95% CI: 1.06-7.24), eating raw pork liver sausages (AOR = 2.23; 95% CI: 1.55-3.20) and raw homemade sausages (AOR = 3.63; 95% CI: 2.50-5.24) were independent infection predictors.ConclusionItalian blood donors showed a low to moderate HEV seroprevalence. High levels in some regions and/or provinces were mainly attributable to eating habits. Prevention should include avoiding consumption of raw or undercooked meat and safe production of commercial pork products.

Adrenergic receptors (AR) belong to the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily and regulate migration and proliferation in various cell types. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether ß-AR stimulation affects the antiproliferative action of α2-AR agonists on B16F10 cells and, if so, to determine the relative contribution of ß-AR subtypes. Using pharmacological approaches, evaluation of Ki-67 expression by flow cytometry and luciferase-based cAMP assay, we found that treatment with isoproterenol, a ß-AR agonist, increased cAMP levels in B16F10 melanoma cells without affecting cell proliferation. Propranolol inhibited the cAMP response to isoproterenol. In addition, stimulation of α2-ARs with agonists such as clonidine, a well-known antihypertensive drug, decreased cancer cell proliferation. This effect on cell proliferation was suppressed by treatment with isoproterenol. In turn, the suppressive effects of isoproterenol were abolished by the treatment with either ICI 118,551, a ß2-AR antagonist, or propranolol, suggesting that isoproterenol effects are mainly mediated by the ß2-AR stimulation. We conclude that the crosstalk between the ß2-AR and α2-AR signaling pathways regulates the proliferative activity of B16F10 cells and may therefore represent a therapeutic target for melanoma therapy.

BACKGROUND: Although many trials are currently investigating the safety and efficacy of convalescent plasma (CP) in critically ill COVID-19 patients, there is a paucity of ongoing and published studies evaluating the CP donors' side. This retrospective study reports the first Italian experience on CP donors' selection and donations. METHODS: Patients aged 18-68 years who had recovered from COVID-19 at least 2 weeks previously were recruited between March 18 and June 30, 2020 in a study protocol at the Italian hospitals of Pavia and Mantova. RESULTS: During the study period, 494 of 512 donors recruited were judged eligible and underwent 504 plasmapheresis procedures. Eighty-five percent (437/512) of the CP donors were males. The average time between symptom recovery and CP donation was 36.6 (±20.0) days. Four hundred and eighty-eight plasmapheresis procedures (96.8%) were concluded and each unit was divided into two subunits (total 976) with an average volume of 316.2 (±22.7) mL. Ninety-three percent (460/494) of CP donors at the time of plasma donation had a neutralizing IgG titer ≥1:80. Plasmapheresis-related adverse reactions occurred in 2.6% (13/504) of cases; all the reactions were mild and none required therapeutic intervention. Donors' age and COVID-19 severity were positively associated with greater antibody responses. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates the feasibility and safety of a pilot CP program conducted in Italy. The identification of factors (ie, age and severity of COVID-19) positively associated with higher neutralizing antibody titers at the time of donation may help to optimize the selection of CP donors.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The International Haemovigilance Network collects aggregate data on complications of blood donation from member haemovigilance systems (HVS). We analysed the data collected in 2006-2016 in order to learn from it and consider future improvements. MATERIALS AND METHODS: National HVS entered annual data on donation complications and on annual whole blood and apheresis donations in the 'ISTARE' (International Surveillance of Transfusion Adverse Reactions and Events) online database. We calculated national and aggregate donation complication rates. RESULTS: Twenty-four HVS provided data for 138 country years (CY; median 7 CY, IQR 2-8), covering 155 M donations. The overall complication rate was 6·3/1000 donations and the median country rate 3·2/1000 (IQR 1·1-10·1). Overall and severe complication rates varied considerably between HVS. Vasovagal reactions (VVR) were most commonly reported: 4·6/1000 donations, median country rate 3·1/1000 donations (IQR 0·6-7·7). Rare complications included generalized allergic reaction (0·10/100 000) and major blood vessel injury (category available since 2015; 0·12/100 000). Eighteen HVS reported complications of whole blood donation (WBD) and apheresis separately (89 CY, 101·6 M WBD and 26·3 M apheresis donations). The median country VVR rate was 3·4/1000 WBD (IQR 1·0-9·1) and 1·5/1000 apheresis donations (1·0-4·2). Rates of venepuncture-related complications tended to be higher for apheresis: the median country rate of reported haematomas was 0·39/1000 WBD (IQR 0·31-1·2) vs. 4·2/1000 apheresis donations (0·69-5·6). CONCLUSION: International reporting allows HVS to study rates of blood donation complications and capture information about very rare events. The present variability of reporting and severity assessment hampers comparisons between HVS and requires further work.

The tests currently used for the identification of SARS-CoV-2 include specimens taken from the upper and lower respiratory tract. Although recommendations from the World Health Organization prioritise the usage of a nasopharyngeal swab (NS), nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPA) are thought to be superior in identifying SARS-CoV-2 in children. To our knowledge, however, no paediatric study has been published on the subject. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performances of NS referred to NPA for SARS-CoV-2 in children. We calculated the sensitivity and specificity of the NS referred to the NPA of the whole sample and considered both age and collection period as covariates in different analyses. We collected 300 paired samples. The NS had a specificity of 97.7% and a sensitivity of 58.1%. We found similar results for the group of subjects ≥ 6 years old, while for subjects < 6 years old, the sensitivity was 66.7% and the specificity 97.8%. Considering period as a covariate, the sensitivity and specificity for patients hospitalised in March (31 patients, 52 records) were 70.0% and 97.6%, while for patients involved in the follow-up (16 patients, 57 records), they were 57.2% and 89.7%. The NS has a low sensitivity in detecting SARS-CoV-2 in children when referred to the NPA, whereas its specificity is high. Our results suggest that in children under 6 years of age, NSs should be preferred whenever possible. Though statistically not significant, the sensitivity of the NS rises when performed before the NPA.

OBJECTIVES: To estimate the number of actually Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infected blood donors applying a statistical forecasting model. BACKGROUND: Following the outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic, a drop in blood donation has been observed. It is crucial to determine the actual number of potential SARS-CoV-2-positive donors to define the measures and ensure adequate blood supply. METHODS: The cumulative incidence of SARS-CoV-2 positivity, calculated on the general population, was applied to the donor population by estimating the number of positive subjects. The calculation model was validated by the linear interpolation method. The number of blood units actually discarded based on post-donation information was also taken into account. RESULTS: Three months after the outbreak, 5322 donors were estimated to be positive for SARS-CoV-2 and were therefore potentially excluded from donation. A total of units of blood components were discarded following post donation information. The estimated number of donors deceased (180) and the number of clinically recovered individuals in the same period was also considered. CONCLUSION: This forecasting model can be used to obtain information on blood donors' involvement during future SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks, especially in case of changes concerning epidemiology, incidence by age bracket and geographical distribution and also for new outbreaks of emerging viruses.

The assessment of prognostic markers is key to the improvement of therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. Some promising markers may fail to be applied in clinical practice, or some useless markers may be applied, because of misleading results ensuing from inadequate planning of the study and/or from an oversimplified statistical analysis. This commentary illustrates and discusses the main issues involved in planning an effective clinical study and the subsequent statistical analysis for the prognostic evaluation of a cancer marker. Another aim is to extend the most applied statistical models (ie, those using Kaplan-Meier and Cox) to enable the choice of the best-suited methods for study endpoints. Specifically, for tumor-centered endpoints like tumor recurrence, the issue of competing risks is highlighted. For markers measured on a continuous numerical scale, a loss of relevant prognostic information may occur by setting arbitrary cutoffs; thus, the methods to analyze the original scale are explained. Furthermore, because the P-value is not a sufficient criterion to assess the usefulness of a marker in clinical practice, measures for evaluating the ability of the marker to discriminate between "good" and "bad" prognoses are illustrated. Several tumor markers are considered both in human and veterinary medicine. Given the similarity between markers for human breast cancer and canine mammary cancer, an application of the statistical methods discussed within the article to a public dataset from human breast cancer patients is shown.

Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is associated with an intense inflammatory response that is critical for cardiac repair but is also involved in the pathogenesis of adverse cardiac remodeling, i.e., the set of size, geometry, and structure changes that represent the structural substrate for the development of post-MI heart failure. Deciphering the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying cardiac repair after MI is, therefore, critical to favorably regulate cardiac wound repair and to prevent development of heart failure. Catecholamines and estrogen play an active role in regulating the inflammatory response in the infarcted area. For example, stress-induced catecholamines alter recruitment and trafficking of leukocytes to the heart. Additionally, estrogen affects rate of cardiac rupture during the acute phase of MI, as well as infarct size and survival in animal models of MI. In this review, we will summarize the role of ß-adrenergic receptors and estrogen in cardiac repair after infarction in preclinical studies.

BACKGROUND: Esthetic dentistry has become a very important aspect of every dental treatment from the patient perspective, whether it is orthodontics or implant therapy. The aim of this article is to describe the advantages of a newly developed branch of five-to-five clear aligner therapy (CAT) (Invisalign Go, Align Technology, San Jose, Calif) in interdisciplinary treatments especially in terms of minimally invasive interventions. CASE PRESENTATION: Two case reports are presented together with a comprehensive analysis using the SAFE (Safety, Assessment, Function, Ethics) assessment. This paper aims to introduce a new systematic in CAT. Invisalign Go (Align Technology, Santa Clara, California, USA) allows orthodontic treatment from second premolar and second premolar in both arches. It is specially designed for general practitioners devoted to restorative dentistry for a better planning of a multidisciplinary and mini-invasive treatment plan. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The clinical results demonstrate how CAT is extremely useful in multidisciplinary treatment plan in order to straighten teeth especially in a pre-restorative phase to allow minimally invasive and adhesive restorations.
