BACKGROUND: Liver cirrhosis is a major cause of death worldwide. Cirrhosis develops after a long asymptomatic period of fibrosis progression, with the diagnosis frequently occurring late, when major complications or cancer develop. Few reliable tools exist for timely identification of individuals at risk of cirrhosis to allow for early intervention. We aimed to develop a novel score to identify individuals at risk for future liver-related outcomes. METHODS: We derived the LiverRisk score from an international prospective cohort of individuals from six countries without known liver disease from the general population, who underwent liver fibrosis assessment by transient elastography. The score included age, sex, and six standard laboratory variables. We created four groups: minimal risk, low risk, medium risk, and high risk according to selected cutoff values of the LiverRisk score (6, 10, and 15). The model's discriminatory accuracy and calibration were externally validated in two prospective cohorts from the general population. Moreover, we ascertained the prognostic value of the score in the prediction of liver-related outcomes in participants without known liver disease with median follow-up of 12 years (UK Biobank cohort). FINDINGS: We included 14 726 participants: 6357 (43·2%) in the derivation cohort, 4370 (29·7%) in the first external validation cohort, and 3999 (27·2%) in the second external validation cohort. The score accurately predicted liver stiffness in the development and external validation cohorts, and was superior to conventional serum biomarkers of fibrosis, as measured by area under the receiver-operating characteristics curve (AUC; 0·83 [95% CI [0·78-0·89]) versus the fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4; 0·68 [0·61-0·75] at 10 kPa). The score was effective in identifying individuals at risk of liver-related mortality, liver-related hospitalisation, and liver cancer, thereby allowing stratification to different risk groups for liver-related outcomes. The hazard ratio for liver-related mortality in the high-risk group was 471 (95% CI 347-641) compared with the minimal risk group, and the overall AUC of the score in predicting 10-year liver-related mortality was 0·90 (0·88-0·91) versus 0.84 (0·82-0·86) for FIB-4. INTERPRETATION: The LiverRisk score, based on simple parameters, predicted liver fibrosis and future development of liver-related outcomes in the general population. The score might allow for stratification of individuals according to liver risk and thus guide preventive care. Transition-metal nitrogen-doped carbons (TM-N-C) are emerging as a highly promising catalyst class for several important electrocatalytic processes, including the electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). The unique local environment around the singly dispersed metal site in TM-N-C catalysts is likely to be responsible for their catalytic properties, which differ significantly from those of bulk or nanostructured catalysts. However, the identification of the actual working structure of the main active units in TM-N-C remains a challenging task due to the fluctional, dynamic nature of these catalysts, and scarcity of experimental techniques that could probe the structure of these materials under realistic working conditions. This issue is addressed in this work and the local atomistic and electronic structure of the metal site in a Co-N-C catalyst for CO2RR is investigated by employing time-resolved operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) combined with advanced data analysis techniques. This multi-step approach, based on principal component analysis, spectral decomposition and supervised machine learning methods, allows the contributions of several co-existing species in the working Co-N-C catalysts to be decoupled, and their XAS spectra deciphered, paving the way for understanding the CO2RR mechanisms in the Co-N-C catalysts, and further optimization of this class of electrocatalytic systems.

Transition metal-nitrogen-doped carbons (TMNCs) are a promising class of catalysts for the CO2 electrochemical reduction reaction. In particular, high CO2-to-CO conversion activities and selectivities were demonstrated for Ni-based TMNCs. Nonetheless, open questions remain about the nature, stability, and evolution of the Ni active sites during the reaction. In this work, we address this issue by combining operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy with advanced data analysis. In particular, we show that the combination of unsupervised and supervised machine learning approaches is able to decipher the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) of the TMNCs, disentangling the contributions of different metal sites coexisting in the working TMNC catalyst. Moreover, quantitative structural information about the local environment of active species, including their interaction with adsorbates, has been obtained, shedding light on the complex dynamic mechanism of the CO2 electroreduction.

Cirrhosis, highly prevalent worldwide, develops after years of hepatic inflammation triggering progressive fibrosis. Currently, the main etiologies of cirrhosis are non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and alcohol-related liver disease, although chronic hepatitis B and C infections are still major etiological factors in some areas of the world. Recent studies have shown that liver fibrosis can be assessed with relatively high accuracy noninvasively by serological tests, transient elastography, and radiological methods. These modalities may be utilized for screening for liver fibrosis in at-risk populations. Thus far, a limited number of population-based studies using noninvasive tests in different areas of the world indicate that a significant percentage of subjects without known liver disease (around 5% in general populations and a higher rate -18% to 27%-in populations with risk factors for liver disease) have significant undetected liver fibrosis or established cirrhosis. Larger international studies are required to show the harms and benefits before concluding that screening for liver fibrosis should be applied to populations at risk for chronic liver diseases. Screening for liver fibrosis has the potential for changing the current approach from diagnosing chronic liver diseases late when patients have already developed complications of cirrhosis to diagnosing liver fibrosis in asymptomatic subjects providing the opportunity of preventing disease progression.

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for more than 75% of primary liver cancers, which are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. The GALAD (gender, age, AFP-L3, AFP, and des-carboxy-prothrombin) score is a diagnostic tool developed based on gender, age, alpha-fetoprotein, alpha-fetoprotein L3, and des-gamma-carboxy prothrombin, originally designed as a diagnostic tool for HCC in high-risk patients. METHODS: We analyzed 212 patients with and without cirrhosis. The population study was divided into patients with liver cirrhosis without evidence of HCC at the time of serum sample collection for GALAD score determination and patients with liver cirrhosis and a confirmed diagnosis of HCC at the time of serum sample collection for GALAD score determination. Patients were followed up until death or liver transplantation. The association between variables and HCC mortality risk was performed, and the results were presented as hazard ratio (HR). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to assess the performance of the GALAD HCC diagnosis. The survival probability was explored using the non-parametric test, and the equality of survival amongst categories was assessed with the log-rank test. RESULTS: Biomarkers were higher in the HCC group compared to cirrhosis. Kaplan-Meier survival probability analysis for individual GALAD categories revealed that a high GALAD level was associated with decreased survival during follow-up, and the difference between the curves was statistically significant (p = 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that the GALAD score has promise as a prognostic tool, with implications for improving patient management and treatment strategies for HCC.

BACKGROUND: the relationship between past asbestos exposure and the onset of malignant mesothelioma (MM) is well established. However, defining the exposure is not always easy, as it occurs decades before the onset of the disease. OBJECTIVES: this report describes four cases of MM diagnosed in two different married couples, both exposed to asbestos fibers: husbands at work and wives for cohabiting and washing their work overalls. DESIGN: case report. METHODS: the information was collected through interviews using a semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed by occupational hygienists during the activity of epidemiological surveillance of this disease. The results of the mineral content of asbestos fibers performed on lung parenchymal from one of the female cases are available. RESULTS: these two cases show a longer latency in the lesser exposed confirming what an occupational epidemiological study has recently highlighted. CONCLUSIONS: whenever good quality information collected during interviews are available, skilled occupational hygienists are able to reconstruct past exposures in quali-quantitative terms.

BACKGROUND: An increased risk of mesothelioma has been reported in various countries for construction workers. The Italian National Mesothelioma Registry, from 1993 to 2018, reported exposure exclusively in the construction sector in 2310 cases. We describe the characteristics of these cases according to job title. METHODS: We converted into 18 groups the original jobs (N=338) as reported by ISTAT codes ('ATECO 91'). The exposure level was attributed at certain, probable and possible in accordance with the qualitative classification of exposure as reported in the Registry guidelines. Descriptive analysis by jobs highlights the total number of subjects for each single job and certain exposure, in descending order, insulator, plumbing, carpenter, mechanic, bricklayer, electrician, machine operator, plasterer, building contractor, painter and labourer. RESULTS: The cases grow for plumbing in the incidence periods 1993-2018, while, as expected, it decreases for insulator. Within each period considered the most numerous cases are always among bricklayers and labourers, these data confirm the prevalence of non-specialised "interchangeable" jobs in Italian construction sector in the past. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the 1992 ban, the construction sector still presents an occupational health prevention challenge, circumstances of exposure to asbestos may still occur due to incomplete compliance with prevention and protection measures.

The study describes the 466 cases of malignant mesotheliomas (MM) collected by the National Mesothelioma Register (ReNaM) in Italy in the period 1993-2018 relating to subjects with exclusive asbestos exposure in merchant or military navy. The cases among maritime workers represent 1.8% of the total cases with defined exposure registred in the ReNaM, of which 212 cases (45.4%) among merchant maritime workers and 254 cases (54.5%) among navy. The distribution by site of mesothelioma showed 453 (97.2%) MM cases of the pleura, 11 (2.3%) of the peritoneum and 2 (0.4%) of the tunica vaginalis of the testis. With regard to occupational exposure, it was classified as certain in 318 (68.2%) cases, probable in 69 (14.8%) cases and possible in 79 (16.9%) cases. Among the 23 classified jobs, the highest percentages of certain exposures are among naval engineers, motor mechanics, machine captains and sailors. Machine crew accounted for 49.3% of the cases, deck crew for 27.6%. All cases began exposure on board between 1926 and 1988. Seamen were exposed to asbestos while at sea by virtue of living onboard ships and from continual release of asbestos fibers due to the motion of a vessel. Epidemiological surveillance through the ReNaM has allowed us to verify among cases in the maritime, navy and merchant marine sectors, that in the past, subjects were exposed regardless of the ship's department where have provided service therefore all these cases must be considered as occupational diseases.

BACKGROUND: Socio-economic inequalities among different racial/ethnic groups have increased in many high-income countries. It is unclear, however, whether increasing socio-economic inequalities are associated with increasing differences in survival in liver transplant (LT) recipients. METHODS: Adults undergoing first time LT for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) between 2002 and 2017 recorded in the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) were included and grouped into three cohorts. Patient survival and graft survival stratified by race/ethnicity were compared among the cohorts using unadjusted and adjusted analyses. RESULTS: White/Caucasians comprised the largest group (n=9,006, 64.9%), followed by Hispanic/Latinos (n=2,018, 14.5%), Black/African Americans (n=1,379, 9.9%), Asians (n=1,265, 9.1%) and other ethnic/racial groups (n=188, 1.3%). Compared to Cohort I (2002-2007), the 5-year survival of Cohort III (2012-2017) increased by 18% for Black/African Americans, by 13% for Whites/Caucasians, by 10% for Hispanic/Latinos, by 9% for patients of other racial/ethnic groups and by 8% for Asians (All P values<0.05). Despite Black/African Americans experienced the highest survival improvement, their overall outcomes remained significantly lower than other ethnic∕racial groups (adjusted HR for death=1.20; 95%CI 1.05-1.36; P=0.005; adjusted HR for graft loss=1.21; 95%CI 1.08-1.37; P=0.002). CONCLUSION: The survival gap between Black/African Americans and other ethnic/racial groups undergoing LT for HCC has significantly decreased over time. However, Black/African Americans continue to have the lowest survival among all racial/ethnic groups.

SUMMARY: Introduction. Malignant mesotheliomas have been observed in entertainment workers in the last decades. They have been evaluated as occupationally exposed to asbestos contained in tools used for fireproof and sound-absorbing purposes. Aim of the study. To evaluate the mortality of workers engaged in a Florentine theatre where a large quantity of asbestos was found in the '80s, put in place 20 years earlier. Methods. It is a cohort study on entertainment workers with follow-up period ranged from 1-1-1970 till 31-12-2018. Standardized Mortality Ratios (SMRs) and their 95% Confidence Intervals (95% IC) were calculated by gender and job ("manual workers" and "all other jobs"), using age and sex specific mortality rates of Tuscan population. Results. The cohort includes 826 workers (389 manual workers and 437 engaged in other jobs) engaged by the Florentine theatre between 01/01/1937 and 31/12/1990. Excesses of mortality for all causes are observed in manual workers, either males (301 cases; SMR 304,0; 95% IC 271,5-340,3) or females (86 cases; SMR 429,8; 95% IC 348,0-531,0). The group of the other workers presents deficits of mortality by all causes, cancers and cardiovascular diseases in both genders. One death for pleural cancer is observed in a manual worker. Discussion. The results are in line with previous observations in similar occupations. In the examined Florentine theatre the asbestos exposures were important only for the manual workers who worked in the technical rooms characterized by the presence of friable asbestos sprinkled and in a bad state of maintenance.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: In 2012, the KDIGO group proposed new definitions for acute kidney injury (AKI), acute kidney disease (AKD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). According to the definition adapted by the International Club of Ascites, AKI has been extensively investigated in patients with cirrhosis. On the contrary, there are currently no data on the epidemiology and clinical outcomes associated with AKD. The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence and the impact of AKD on the clinical course and survival of patients with cirrhosis. METHODS: A total of 272 consecutive patients with cirrhosis attending our outpatient clinic were included in the study. Clinical and laboratory data were collected at inclusion. Patients were followed-up until death, liver transplant or the end of follow-up. RESULTS: During follow-up, 80 patients developed AKD (29.4%). Forty-two (52.5%) recovered from the first episode of AKD and 26 maintained a normal renal function up to the end of follow-up. Sixteen patients developed a second episode of AKD. Globally, 36 patients (45.0%) died with AKD. Finally, AKD progressed to CKD in 11 patients (13.8%). The 5-year survival rate was significantly lower in patients who developed AKD than in those who did not (34.8% vs. 88.8%, p <0.001). The 5-year rates of complications of cirrhosis and of hospitalizations were also higher in patients with AKD than in those without AKD. CONCLUSIONS: AKD is frequent in patients with cirrhosis. It can be reversible, but it may recur and progress to CKD. AKD has a very negative impact on morbidity and mortality in patients with cirrhosis. LAY SUMMARY: Renal impairment has a very negative impact on patients with cirrhosis. Renal impairment seems to be characterized by a very dynamic course, which is defined according to renal function and length of the impairment as acute kidney injury, acute kidney disease and chronic kidney disease. The role of acute kidney disease is currently unknown. Our study shows for the first time that acute kidney disease is frequent in patients with cirrhosis and has a very negative impact on survival.

The understanding of reactive processes involving organic substrates is crucial to chemical knowledge and requires multidisciplinary efforts for its advancement. Herein, we apply a combined multivariate, statistical and theoretical analysis of coupled time-resolved X-ray absorption (XAS)/UV-Vis data to obtain detailed mechanistic information for on the C-H bond activation of 9,10-dihydroanthracene (DHA) and diphenylmethane (Ph2CH2) by the nonheme FeIV-oxo complex [N4Py·FeIV(O)]2+ (N4Py = N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-N-bis(2-pyridyl)methylamine) in CH3CN at room temperature. Within this approach, we determine the number of key chemical species present in the reaction mixtures and derive spectral and concentration profiles for the reaction intermediates. From the quantitative analysis of the XAS spectra the transient intermediate species are structurally determined. As a result, it is suggested that, while DHA is oxidized by [N4Py·FeIV(O)]2+ with a hydrogen atom transfer-electron transfer (HAT-ET) mechanism, Ph2CH2 is oxidized by the nonheme iron-oxo complex through a HAT-radical dissociation pathway. In the latter process, we prove that the intermediate FeIII complex [N4Py·FeIII(OH)]2+ is not able to oxidize the diphenylmethyl radical and we provide its structural characterization in solution. The employed combined experimental and theoretical strategy is promising for the spectroscopic characterization of transient intermediates as well as for the mechanistic investigation of redox chemical transformations on the second to millisecond time scales.

The speciation of framework-interacting CuII sites in Cu-chabazite zeolite catalysts active in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3 is studied, to investigate the influence of the Al content on the copper structure and their reactivity towards a NO/O2 mixture. To this aim, three samples with similar Cu densities and different Si/Al ratios (5, 15 and 29) were studied using in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), FTIR and diffuse reflectance UV-Vis during pretreatment in O2 followed by the reaction. XAS and UV-Vis data clearly show the main presence of Z2CuII sites (with Z representing a framework negative charge) at a low Si/Al ratio, as predicted. EXAFS wavelet transform analysis showed a non-negligible fraction of proximal Z2CuII monomers, possibly stabilized into two 6-membered rings within the same cage. These sites are not able to form Cu-nitrates by interaction with NO/O2. By contrast, framework-anchored Z[CuII(NO3)] complexes with a chelating bidentate structure are formed in samples with a higher Si/Al ratio, by reaction of NO/O2 with Z[CuII(OH)] sites or structurally similar mono- or multi-copper Zx[CuIIxOy] sites. Linear combination fit (LCF) analysis of the XAS data showed good agreement between the fraction of Z[CuII(OH)]/Zx[CuIIxOy] sites formed during activation in O2 and that of Z[CuII(NO3)] complexes formed by reaction with NO/O2, further confirming the chemical inertia of Z2CuII towards these reactants in the absence of solvating NH3 molecules.

A series of gas-phase reactants is used to treat a Cu-exchanged mordenite zeolite with the aim of studying the influence of the reaction environment on the formation of Cu pairs. The rearrangement of Cu ions to form multimeric sites as a function of their oxidation state was probed by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and also by applying advanced analysis through wavelet transform, a method able to specifically locate Cu-Cu interactions also in the presence of overlapping contributions from other scattering paths. The nature of the Cu-oxo species formed upon oxidation was further crosschecked by DFT-assisted fitting of the EXAFS data and by resonant Raman spectroscopy. Altogether, the CuI /CuII speciation clearly correlates with Cu proximity, with metal ion pairs quantitatively forming under an oxidative environment.

The NH3-mediated selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) of NOx over Cu-ion-exchanged chabazite (Cu-CHA) catalysts is the basis of the technology for abatement of NOx from diesel vehicles. A crucial step in this reaction is the activation of oxygen. Under conditions for low-temperature NH3-SCR, oxygen only reacts with CuI ions, which are present as mobile CuI diamine complexes [CuI(NH3)2]+. To determine the structure and reactivity of the species formed by oxidation of these CuI diamine complexes with oxygen at 200 °C, we have followed this reaction, using a Cu-CHA catalyst with a Si/Al ratio of 15 and 2.6 wt% Cu, by X-ray absorption spectroscopies (XANES and EXAFS) and diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectroscopy, with the support of DFT calculations and advanced EXAFS wavelet transform analysis. The results provide unprecedented direct evidence for the formation of a [Cu2(NH3)4O2]2+ mobile complex with a side-on µ-η2,η2-peroxo diamino dicopper(II) structure, accounting for 80-90% of the total Cu content. These [Cu2(NH3)4O2]2+ are completely reduced to [CuI(NH3)2]+ at 200 °C in a mixture of NO and NH3. Some N2 is formed as well, which suggests the role of the dimeric complexes in the low-temperature NH3-SCR reaction. The reaction of [Cu2(NH3)4O2]2+ complexes with NH3 leads to a partial reduction of the Cu without any formation of N2. The reaction with NO results in an almost complete reduction to CuI, under the formation of N2. This indicates that the low-temperature NH3-SCR reaction proceeds via a reaction of these complexes with NO.

THORONDOR is a data treatment software with a graphical user interface (GUI) accessible via the browser-based Jupyter notebook framework. It aims to provide an interactive and user-friendly tool for the analysis of NEXAFS spectra collected during in situ experiments. The program allows on-the-fly representation and quick correction of large datasets from single or multiple experiments. In particular, it provides the possibility to align in energy several spectral profiles on the basis of user-defined references. Various techniques to calculate background subtraction and signal normalization have been made available. In this context, an innovation of this GUI involves the usage of a slider-based approach that provides the ability to instantly manipulate and visualize processed data for the user. Finally, the program is characterized by an advanced fitting toolbox based on the lmfit package. It offers a large selection of fitting routines as well as different peak distributions and empirical ionization potential step edges, which can be used for the fit of the NEXAFS rising-edge peaks. Statistical parameters describing the goodness of a fit such as χ2 or the R-factor together with the parameter uncertainty distributions and the related correlations can be extracted for each chosen model.

BACKGROUND: The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has emerged as a relevant threat for humans worldwide. Abnormality in liver function tests (LFTs) has been commonly observed in patients with COVID-19, but there is controversy on its clinical significance. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence, the characteristics and the clinical impact of abnormal LFTs in hospitalized, non-critically ill patients with COVID-19. METHODS: In this multicentre, retrospective study, we collected data about 565 inpatients with COVID-19. Data on LFTs were collected at admission and every 7 ± 2 days during the hospitalization. The primary outcome was a composite endpoint of death or transfer to intensive care unit (ICU). RESULTS: Upon admission 329 patients (58%) had LFTs abnormality. Patients with abnormal LFTs had more severe inflammation and higher degree of organ dysfunction than those without. During hospitalization, patients with abnormal LFTs had a higher rate of transfer to ICU (20% vs 8%; P < .001), acute kidney injury (22% vs 13%, P = .009), need for mechanical ventilation (14% vs 6%; P = .005) and mortality (21% vs 11%; P = .004) than those without. In multivariate analysis, patients with abnormal LFTs had a higher risk of the composite endpoint of death or transfer to ICU (OR = 3.53; P < .001). During the hospitalization, 86 patients developed de novo LFTs abnormality, which was associated with the use of tocilizumab, lopinavir/ritonavir and acetaminophen and not clearly associated with the composite endpoint. CONCLUSIONS: LFTs abnormality is common at admission in patients with COVID-19, is associated with systemic inflammation, organ dysfunction and is an independent predictor of transfer to ICU or death.

In this work, we propose a method to directly determine the mechanism of the reaction between the nonheme complex FeII(tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine) ([FeII(TPA)(CH3CN)2]2+) and peracetic acid (AcOOH) in CH3CN, working at room temperature. A multivariate analysis is applied to the time-resolved coupled energy-dispersive X-ray absorption spectroscopy (EDXAS) reaction data, from which a set of spectral and concentration profiles for the reaction key species is derived. These "pure" extracted EDXAS spectra are then quantitatively characterized by full multiple scattering (MS) calculations. As a result, structural information for the elusive reaction intermediates [FeIII(TPA)(κ2-OOAc)]2+ and [FeIV(TPA)(O)(X)]+/2+ is obtained, and it is suggested that X = AcO- in opposition to X = CH3CN. The employed strategy is promising both for the spectroscopic characterization of reaction intermediates that are labile or silent to the conventional spectroscopic techniques, as well as for the mechanistic understanding of complex redox reactions involving organic substrates.

The behavior in solution of the dicyanoaurate anion in the presence of other metal centers has so far been little explored, despite its importance in material science. The design and synthesis of systems with controlled coordination behavior, using chelating ligands and ZnII, has allowed us to detect self-assembly and oligomerization in solution. This phenomenon has been studied with 13C and 1H NMR, absorption and emission UV-vis spectroscopy, ESI-MS, and XAS at both the Au L3-edge and Zn K-edge: all of these techniques confirm the presence of Au-Zn aggregation products. These fragments, resembling structural units in the solid state, reveal that coordination of dicyanoaurate to free sites around metal centers can occur at a lower concentration than those at which crystals start to form and at which aurophilic interactions are observed, forming the connection between solution species and solid-state architectures.

Cu-exchanged zeolites have been shown to possess Cu-oxo species active towards the direct methane to methanol (DMTM) conversion, carried out through a chemical-looping approach. Different Cu-zeolites have been investigated for the DMTM process, with Cu-mordenite (Cu-MOR) being among the most active. In this context, an accurate determination of the local structure and nuclearity of selective Cu-oxo species responsible for an efficient DMTM conversion still represents an ongoing challenge for characterization methods, including synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). Herein, we explore the potential of an alternative analysis of Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) data using wavelet transform (WT) to enhance the technique sensitivity to multimeric Cu species hosted in the MOR framework. Combining ex situ XAS measurements under model red-ox conditions with in situ data collected after the key steps of the DMTM process, we demonstrate how EXAFS-WT enables unambiguous detection of Cu-Cu scattering contributions from multimeric Cu-species. As also confirmed by complementary in situ IR spectroscopy results, these are observed to dynamically respond to the chemical environment over the different conditions probed. We finally report a proof-of-concept EXAFS fit using the WT representation, applied to the structural refinement of O2-activated Cu-MOR. The fitting results reveal a Cu local coordination environment consistent with mono-(µ-oxo) di-copper cores, with Cu-Cu separation of ∼3.1 Å, paving the way to future applications and developments of the method in the field of Cu-zeolite research and beyond.
