RESUMEN

The anaerobic Gram-negative rod Fusobacterium nucleatum is an oral commensal and periodontal pathogen that has been associated with a wide variety of infections, yet it is extremely rare to be associated with prosthetic joint infection. After an exhaustive literature review, only two cases of prosthetic joint infection by F. nucleatum have been previously reported. To our knowledge, the case we report on here is the first combined with periprosthetic abscess and related with hemochromatosis. We therefore sought to provide a comprehensive literature review of case reports or series of less commonly encountered anaerobic microorganisms isolated from prosthetic joint infections.

RESUMEN

We present a case report of recurrent pericarditis with pericardial effusion and high levels of Coxiella burnetti antibodies (phase II), excluding other possible etiologies. The rarity of this disorder is commented and the necessity of be considered this etiological possibility in a second time, particularly in patients who are susceptible to suffer Q-Fever disease.

RESUMEN

A case of spontaneous acute infrarenal aortic dissection, with extension to the right common iliac artery and proximally to just below the origin of the renal arteries is presented. This dissection did not involve the visceral vessels nor the iliac system. The diagnosis was made with ultrasonography and computed tomography, without the need for angiography, and confirmed during surgical intervention, in which, prosthetic replacement of the affected segment was carried out.
