RESUMEN

Photoperiods integrate with the circadian clock to coordinate gene expression rhythms and thus ensure plant fitness to the environment. Genome-wide characterization and comparison of rhythmic genes under different light conditions revealed delayed phase under constant darkness (DD) and reduced amplitude under constant light (LL) in rice. Interestingly, ChIP-seq and RNA-seq profiling of rhythmic genes exhibit synchronous circadian oscillation in H3K9ac modifications at their loci and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) expression at proximal loci. To investigate how gene expression rhythm is regulated in rice, we profiled the open chromatin regions and transcription factor (TF) footprints by time-series ATAC-seq. Although open chromatin regions did not show circadian change, a significant number of TFs were identified to rhythmically associate with chromatin and drive gene expression in a time-dependent manner. Further transcriptional regulatory networks mapping uncovered significant correlation between core clock genes and transcription factors involved in light/temperature signaling. In situ Hi-C of ZT8-specific expressed genes displayed highly connected chromatin association at the same time, whereas this ZT8 chromatin connection network dissociates at ZT20, suggesting the circadian control of gene expression by dynamic spatial chromatin conformation. These findings together implicate the existence of a synchronization mechanism between circadian H3K9ac modifications, chromatin association of TF and gene expression, and provides insights into circadian dynamics of spatial chromatin conformation that associate with gene expression rhythms.

As an essential enzyme in the uridine diphosphate (UDP)-GlcNAc biosynthesis pathway, the significant role of N-acetylglucosamine phosphate mutase (AGM) remains unknown in plants. In the present study, a functional plant AGM (AtAGM) was identified from Arabidopsis thaliana. AtAGM catalyzes the isomerization of GlcNAc-1-P and GlcNAc-6-P, and has broad catalytic activity on different phosphohexoses. UDP-GlcNAc contents were significantly decreased in AtAGM T-DNA insertional mutants, which caused temperature-dependent growth defects in seedlings and vigorous growth in adult plants. Further analysis revealed that protein O-GlcNAcylation but not N-glycosylation was dramatically impaired in Atagm mutants due to UDP-GlcNAc shortage. Combined with the results from O-GlcNAcylation or N-glycosylation deficient mutants, and O-GlcNAcase inhibitor all suggested that protein O-GlcNAcylation impairment mainly leads to the phenotypic variations of Atagm plants. In conclusion, based on the essential role in UDP-GlcNAc biosynthesis, AtAGM is important for plant growth mainly via protein O-GlcNAcylation-level regulation.

To investigate the effects of tamoxifen (TAM) and toremifene (TOR) on hepatic function and serum lipid levels in breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant endocrine therapy. The clinical data of 597 early breast cancer patients treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between January 2016 and December 2022 were collected. All the patients received standard adjuvant endocrine therapy with TAM or TOR after chemotherapy. Hepatic function and serum lipid data of all patients before and at 6 months and 1, 2, and 3 years after the treatment were collected retrospectively and analyzed statistically. There: no negative effect on hepatic function was observed in patients treated with either TAM or TOR. The triglyceride levels in both groups increased during treatment, and the effect of TAM on improving total cholesterol levels was stronger. Total cholesterol levels were not affected by time or treatment regimen. The low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels decreased in both groups, and the effect was similar between groups. TAM can decrease the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, whereas TOR can increase the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, and there was a significant difference between groups. In the postoperative adjuvant endocrine therapy, TOR and TAM will not negatively impact the hepatic function of breast cancer patients, and TOR is better than TAM in the management of serum lipids; therefore, it may be a better choice for clinical medication.

OBJECTIVES: In Chinese culture, family members are the main decision maker on end-of-life (EoL) issues for patients with advanced cancer. Yet little is known about Chinese families' confidence in making EoL decisions and its associated factors. This study aims to investigate the status and associated factors of Chinese family members' confidence in making EoL decisions for patients with advanced cancer. METHODS: This cross-sectional study used a convenience sample of 147 family members of patients with stage III or stage IV cancer from a tertiary cancer center in Guangzhou, China. The questionnaires included demographic information of patients and their family members, patients' EoL preferences, and the Chinese version of the Family Decision-Making Self-Efficacy (FDMSE) Scale. RESULTS: A total of145 family members (98.64%) completed the questionnaires. The average score of FDMSE was 3.92 ± 0.53. A multiple regression analysis showed that the factors associated with FDMSE included patients' duration of disease, health insurance, participation in EoL decision-making, the expression of unfilled wishes, and family members' employment status. SIGNIFICANCE OF RESULTS: Chinese family members were not confident enough in making EoL decisions for patients with advanced cancer. It is recommended to develop cultural-tailored advanced care planning models to clarify patient preferences and to enhance the family members' self-efficacy in making EoL decisions with or for patients with advanced cancer.

Previously, we successfully synthesized a 18F-labeled positron-emission tomography (PET) tracer, termed 18F-5-fluoro-N-(2-[diethylamino]ethyl)picolinamide (18F-5-FPN), with high specificity for melanin. In this study, we sought to investigate the value of 18F-5-FPN in assessing the response to photothermal therapy (PTT) in melanoma via comparison with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) to reveal an early response, recognize early recurrence, and distinguish the inflammatory response during the treatment. B16F10, inflammatory, and MDA-MB-231 models were subjected to 18F-FDG PET and 18F-5-FPN PET static acquisitions. We compared quantitative data to assess the specificity of different agents for different diseases. B16F10 and MDA-MB-231subcutaneous tumor models were irradiated with an 808 nm laser for PTT. Their survival was documented to observe the efficacy of and response to PTT, using 18F-5-FPN and 18F-FDG PET. 18F-5-FPN accumulated in B16F10 cell xenografts only, whereas 18F-FDG accumulated in all three models. Melanin in B16F10 cell xenografts successfully transformed the optical energy into heat. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining at 24 h revealed destruction and extensive necrosis of tumor tissue. PTT rapidly inhibited the growth of B16F10 cell xenografts and prolonged the median survival. The mean tumor uptakes of 18F-5-FPN on day 2 (7.52 ± 3.65 %ID/g) and day 6 (10.22 ± 6.00 %ID/g) were much lower than that before treatment (18.33 ± 4.98 %ID/g, p < 0.01). However, a significant difference in 18F-FDG uptakes was not found between day 1 after PTT and before treatment. Compared with 18F-FDG, 18F-5-FPN PET could estimate PTT efficacy in melanoma, monitor minimal recurrence, and distinguish melanoma from inflammation and other carcinoma types, thanks to its high affinity to melanin. 18F-5-FPN may provide a new approach for precise and accurate evaluation of response, timely management of therapeutic regimens, and sensitive follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Antenatal depression (AD) is a major depressive disorder during pregnancy, which may lead to devastating sequelae for the expectant mothers and infants. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence, to analyze trajectory model based on EPDS score, and to explore the influence factors of AD among pregnant women in Chengdu, China. METHODS: Participants from four maternity hospitals in Chengdu, China were recruited when they had their first pregnancy medical check-up during March 2019 to May 2020. All participants were required to fill in Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale Chinese version (EPDS) once during three trimesters and provided information about their health status, social-demographic etc. The trajectory model, chi-square test and multivariate binary logistic regression were used to analyze all collected data. RESULTS: A total of 4560 pregnant women were recruited, while 1051 women completed the study. The prevalence of depression symptoms during the first, second and third trimesters were 32.92% (346/1051), 19.79% (208/1051) and 20.46% (215/1051) respectively. According to the results of the latent growth mixture modeling, the trajectory model of three categories based on EPDS score were identified in this study: low-risk group (38.2%, 401/1051), medium-risk group (54.8%, 576/1051) and high-risk group (7%, 74/1051). Good marital relationship (P = 0.007, OR = 0.33, 95% CI 0.147 ~ 0.74), good relationship with parents-in-law (P = 0.011, OR = 0.561, 95% CI 0.36 ~ 0.874), planned pregnancy (P = 0.018, OR = 0.681, 95% CI 0.496 ~ 0.936) were the protective factors while lower education level (P = 0.036, OR = 1.355, 95% CI 1.02 ~ 1.799), fear about dystocia (P = 0.0, OR = 1.729, 95% CI 1.31 ~ 2.283), recent major negative life events (P = 0.033, OR = 2.147, 95% CI 1.065 ~ 4.329) were the risk factors of medium-risk group. Good marital relationship (P = 0.005, OR = 0.2, 95% CI 0.065 ~ 0.615), good relationship with parents-in-law (P = 0.003, OR = 0.319, 95% CI 0.15 ~ 0.679) were also protective factors of high-risk group, but the risk factors for high-risk group were medical history (P = 0.046, OR = 1.836, 95% CI 1.011 ~ 3.334), pregnancy complications (P = 0.022, OR = 2.015, 95% CI 1.109 ~ 3.662), worry about dystocia (P = 0.003, OR = 2.365, 95% CI 1.347 ~ 4.153), recent major negative life events (P = 0.011, OR = 3.661, 95% CI 1.341 ~ 9.993). No protective or risk factors were identified for low-risk group. CONCLUSION: Even the incidence and levels of depression in the first trimester of pregnancy were the highest, the probability of pregnancy women get depression during gestation period were higher than other population. Therefore, it's important to monitor the psychological status of pregnant women during the whole pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. The study suggested a good partner relationship and good relations with parents-in-law both protected pregnant women from depression and promoted the well-being of mothers and children.

AIMS: To systematically examine and review relevant qualitative studies exploring the current lifestyle among individuals at high risk of colorectal cancer (CRC), and their awareness of the role of a healthy lifestyle in CRC prevention. BACKGROUND: The increasing incidence and mortality of CRC have presented a serious threat against the health and life of people. As the major population affected by CRC, the lifestyle of individuals at a high risk of CRC is attracting increasing attention. DESIGN: A qualitative evidence synthesis using the Thomas and Harden method and the PRISMA 2020 checklist provided by the EQUATOR network were used. DATA SOURCES: Literature was retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL and PsycINFO from the inception to December 2021. REVIEW METHODS: Two reviewers independently screened the titles and abstracts and identified the eligible studies. Critical appraisals of each included study were performed. Thematic analysis was used to guide the data synthesis. RESULTS: The data from nine articles were analysed. Three interpretive themes were extracted that formed an overarching synthesis of the experience with healthy lifestyles among high-risk individuals of CRC. The findings suggested that these individuals with limited awareness of CRC and personal risks lacked sufficient knowledge about the relationship between lifestyle and CRC, and their attitudes and practices towards the role of a healthy lifestyle in CRC prevention were also diversified. CONCLUSION: Professionals can potentially provide personalised guidance for healthy lifestyles based on knowledge of prevention, the actual background and social support of individuals at high risk of CRC. IMPACT: Considering that knowledge gaps and health beliefs among these individuals are the premise blocking their adoption of a healthy lifestyle, the findings of this review may make contributions to the design and content of public health policy and prevention programs. The pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease is thought to be directly linked to the abnormal aggregation of ß-amyloid (Aß) in the nervous system as a common neurodegenerative disease. Consequently, researchers in many areas are actively looking for factors that affect Aß aggregation. Numerous investigations have demonstrated that, in addition to chemical induction of Aß aggregation, electromagnetic radiation may also affect Aß aggregation. Terahertz waves are an emerging form of non-ionizing radiation that has the potential to affect the secondary bonding networks of biological systems, which in turn could affect the course of biochemical reactions by altering the conformation of biological macromolecules. As the primary radiation target in this investigation, the in vitro modeled Aß42 aggregation system was examined using fluorescence spectrophotometry, supplemented by cellular simulations and transmission electron microscopy, to see how it responded to 3.1 THz radiation in various aggregation phases. The results demonstrated that in the nucleation aggregation stage, 3.1 THz electromagnetic waves promote Aß42 monomer aggregation and that this promoting effect gradually diminishes with the exacerbation of the degree of aggregation. However, by the stage of oligomer aggregation into the original fiber, 3.1 THz electromagnetic waves exhibited an inhibitory effect. This leads us to the conclusion that terahertz radiation has an impact on the stability of the Aß42 secondary structure, which in turn affects how Aß42 molecules are recognized during the aggregation process and causes a seemingly aberrant biochemical response. Molecular dynamics simulation was employed to support the theory based on the aforementioned experimental observations and inferences.

In this work, zeolite based on coal fly ash was firstly synthesized via wet milling for the adsorption of lead (Pb(II)). The effects of contact time, solid-to-liquid ratio and initial pH of solution on Pb(II) removal were investigated in detail. The experimental data showed that synthesized zeolite has high adsorption capacity of 99.082 mg of Pb(II) per gram of adsorbent. Coal fly ash zeolite synthesized by wet milling has good Pb(II) adsorption performance when the initial pH of the solution is above 5. The adsorption kinetic results demonstrated that removal of Pb(II) via the synthesized zeolite followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results directly demonstrated the adsorption between Pb(II) and synthesized zeolite, and a possible reaction pathway was proposed. Specifically, the removing mechanism of Pb(II) from aqueous solution via the synthesized zeolite involves two stages: one is that Pb(II) in aqueous solution is absorbed on the interior of the synthesized zeolite, and the other is chemical precipitation.

Rational design and synthesis of highly efficient and robust photocatalysts with positive exciton splitting and interfacial charge transfer for environmental applications is critical. Herein, aiming at overcoming the common shortcomings of traditional photocatalysts such as weak photoresponsivity, rapid combination of photo-generated carriers and unstable structure, a novel Ag-bridged dual Z-scheme g-C3N4/BiOI/AgI plasmonic heterojunction was successfully synthesized using a facile method. Results showed that Ag-AgI nanoparticles and three-dimensional (3D) BiOI microspheres were decorated highly uniformly on the 3D porous g-C3N4 nanosheet, resulting in a higher specific surface area and abundant active sites. The optimized 3D porous dual Z-scheme g-C3N4/BiOI/Ag-AgI manifested exceptional photocatalytic degradation efficiency of tetracycline (TC) in water with approximately 91.8% degradation efficiency within 165 min, outperforming majority of the reported g-C3N4-based photocatalysts. Moreover, g-C3N4/BiOI/Ag-AgI exhibited good stability in terms of activity and structure. In-depth radical scavenging and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses confirmed the relative contributions of various scavengers. Mechanism analysis indicated that the improved photocatalytic performance and stability were ascribed to the highly ordered 3D porous framework, fast electron transfer of dual Z-scheme heterojunction, desirable photocatalytic performance of BiOI/AgI and synergistic effect of Ag plasmas. Therefore, the 3D porous Z-scheme g-C3N4/BiOI/Ag-AgI heterojunction had a good prospect for applications in water remediation. The current work provides new insight and useful guidance for designing novel structural photocatalysts for environment-related applications.

Quorum sensing (QS), which controls the survival and virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, including the formation of biofilm, is considered to be a new target to overcome pathogens. The aim of this study was to identify new QS inhibitors against P. aeruginosa and provide potential treatments for clinical infections. In this study, 25 compounds were isolated from Plumula nelumbini. Among these compounds, C25 showed the most significant biofilm inhibition activity, reaching 44.63% at 100 µM without inhibiting bacterial growth. Furthermore, C25 showed significant inhibition activity of rhamnolipid, pyocyanin, and elastase. Further mechanistic studies have confirmed that C25 could downregulate key genes in the QS system, including lasI, lasR, lasA, lasB, and pqsR, and Molecular docking studies have shown that C25 can bind to the active sites of the LasR and PqsR receptors. The present study suggests that C25 is a promising QS inhibitor for treating P. aeruginosa infections.

Actinidia arguta, commonly called hardy kiwifruit or kiwiberry, is a perennial vine of Actinidiaceae Actinidia genus. Understanding the main pathogens that cause the fruit rot of A. arguta during storage is of great significance for finding strategies to prevent fruit rot. In September 2020, the A. arguta (Sieb.et Zucc.) Planch. ex Miq. LD133 was harvested from a farm in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, China (40°31'N, 124°20'E). After being stored at room temperature for about a week, the fruit rotted (no mechanical damage or wound). Initial symptoms were localized irregular spots, which then became soft and the spots connected into large, flaky, light brown lesions. Later symptoms were dark brown lesions and rot that affect the entire fruit. The strain that shows the same morphology as observed in the four decaying tissues was isolated on PDA. The strain was white, edge irregular and surface wavy, and the reverse side was pale yellow (Fig. S1A). The black viscous acervuli appeared on the surface of the mycelium after 7 to 10 days at 25℃ with 12 hours photoperiod. Conidia were fusiform to ellipsoid, straight to slightly curved, 5.7×25.9 µm (width × length), n=30, with five versicolor cells (three brown median cells, two hyaline cells on apical and basal). The apical cell generally contains one to four appendages on conidia (Fig. S1B). For identify the selected strains, three genetic regions (ITS, TUB and TEF 1-α) were used for amplification and sequencing. These sequences of pathogen shared 98 to 100% homology with Neopestalotiopsis clavispora. Then, a phylogenetic tree was constructed by the Bayesian algorithm using PhyloSuite (v1.2.2) (Zhang et al. 2020). Based on the morphological and molecular characterization, the pathogen was identified as Neopestalotiopsis clavispora (Chamorro et al. 2016). Next, pathogenicity of the screened strains was determined by wound inoculation method. Ripe healthy fruits are immersed in 1% NaClO, rinsed twice with sterile water. A sterile needle was used to penetrate 1-2mm of peel, and then inoculate hyphae (about 5mm in length, 1mm in diameter), and 10 µL of sterile water as a control. The treated fruits are stored in an artificial climate chamber (22°C, 70% relative humidity with 12 hours photoperiod). The inoculated fruit began to show signs of rot on the second day, and after 6 days, lesions similar to those found during storage of the pathogenic isolated fruit appeared. Similarly, 10 µL (106 conidia/mL) conidial suspension exhibited decay symptoms. Compared with conidial suspension as inoculum, hyphae has shorter incubation period and stronger pathogenicity to fruit (Fig. S2). The pathogen was re-isolated from these infected fruits and identified as N. clavispora, thus fulfilling Koch's postulates. N. clavispora has been reported causing root and crown rot on strawberry in Spain, Argentina, Uruguay and Italy (Chamorro et al. 2016; Gilardi et al. 2019; Machin et al. 2019; Obregon et al. 2018), and as a pathogen on blueberry in Spain and Korea (Borrero et al. 2018; Lee et al. 2019), and causing leaf spot on macadamia in Brazil (Santos et al. 2019), and causing leaf spot on Syzygium cumini in India (Banerjee and Rana 2020). However, to our knowledge, this is the first report of Neopestalotiopsis clavispora causing postharvest fruit rot of A. argute in the worldwide. The identification of the pathogen is of great significance for conducting research on A. argute fruit preservation to prolong its shelf life and improve its merchantability.

AIMS: To systematically review the literature on relationships between communication issues and missed nursing care. DESIGN: Systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 Statement. DATA SOURCES: EMBASE, Web of Science, CINAHL, PubMed and Cochrane databases were comprehensively searched from inception to December 2021. REVIEW METHODS: Screening, data extraction and initial quality assessment were conducted independently by two reviewers. The JBI quality assessment tool was used for study appraisal and the certainty of evidence was assessed using the five Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) criteria. Discrepancies were settled by consulting a third researcher. RESULTS: A total of 18 articles were included. Missed nursing care was common and the status of communication was not optimistic in clinical. Nurses' sociodemographic characteristics and work environment both influenced missed nursing care and communication. Intrateam communication included three parts: doctors-nurses communication, nurses-nurses communication and nurses-patients communication, poor intrateam communication could contribute to missed nursing care. There was an interaction between missed nursing care and communication. CONCLUSION: Promoting efficient intrateam communication, to acknowledge the importance of communication factors in reducing the incidence of missed nursing care in clinics is required. Future research can explore the impact of the internal dimension of communication on missed nursing care and consider interventions aimed at nurses' effective communication. IMPACT: What problem did the study address? This study offers new evidence that the impact of intrateam communication on missed nursing care. What were the main findings? Effective intrateam communication can reduce the incidence of missed nursing care, there is mutual influence between communication and missed nursing care. Where and on whom will the research have an impact? Policymakers can provide positive interventions on communication problems in different populations (e.g. nurses-patients, nurses-nurses and doctors-nurses) to provide high-quality patient care.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To systematically identify, synthesise and characterise the available qualitative evidence on the experience of adult colorectal cancer survivors with continuity of care led by different health professionals. BACKGROUND: The limited evidence base for effective continuity of care led by different medical staff who assist colorectal cancer survivors with their unique survivorship care hampers the development of effective interventions. Synthesising the data on survivors' experience of care led by different health professionals is critical to develop such interventions. DESIGN: A qualitative evidence synthesis using the Thomas and Harden method and the PRISMA 2020 checklist provided by the EQUATOR network were used. METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL and PsycINFO were searched through November 2020 for qualitative and mixed methods studies in English. JBI-QARI was used to undertake a quality review of the identified studies. The review findings were synthesised by a team of researchers, and the level of confidence was evaluated using GRADE-CERQual. RESULTS: Eleven studies met the criteria for inclusion in the review. The identified analytical themes included experience of diversity, preference for health professionals and space for enhancement to facilitate improved medical care delivery. Colorectal cancer survivors report diverse experiences regarding continuity of care led by different providers. Specifically, they attach substantial importance to trusted relationships with providers that are closely associated with their overall care experience. CONCLUSION: Effective communication and good rapport among stakeholders are cornerstones for addressing the complexity of ongoing care. Future interventions should include adjusting the percentage of care from different providers to deliver cost-effective and personalised continuity of care. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Synthesising data on survivors' experience facilitates the development of practical approaches to increase the quality of continuity of care and may also foster the integration of providers' advantages to enable more cost-effective intervention. The limited capacity of primary care providers may be enhanced by better cooperation and communication with specialists and by additional professional cancer-related training.

OBJECTIVES: To analyze the correlation and mechanism of action among caregivers' expressed emotion, positive aspects, coping style and the behavioral and psychological symptoms of people with dementia by using the theory of planned behavior as a framework. METHODS: We investigated 193 pairs of people with dementia and caregivers to assess patients' behavioral and psychological symptoms, as well as caregivers' expressed emotion, positive aspects and coping style. Regression analysis and structural equation modeling were used. RESULTS: Dementia severity and psychotropic drug use were influencing factors of behavioral and psychological symptoms. Caregivers' positive aspects predicted expressed emotion and coping style, while expressed emotion predicted behavioral and psychological symptoms. Expressed emotion played a completely mediating role between caregivers' positive aspects and dementia patients' behavioral and psychological symptoms. CONCLUSION: Health care professionals should follow strict guidelines on medication, and focus on the caregiver's emotional state to reduce adverse effects on the person with dementia.

BACKGROUND: To conduct a comprehensive comparison of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) in Chinese people with early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) and late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD) and analyse the factors of differences. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey of 93 EOAD and100 LOAD and their caregivers in China from November 2018 to May 2019. RESULTS: The total Neuropsychiatric Inventory score was significantly higher in LOAD. A higher level of agitation in EOAD was related to a lower quality of life of caregivers and the emotional expression of ignoring people with dementia. Higher euphoria scores in LOAD were associated with reduced negative coping by caregivers and reduced stability and predictability at home. CONCLUSION: The early identification and management of specific BPSD of EOAD and LOAD by family members and health professionals may improve the quality of care and life for people with dementia and that of caregivers.

Diaries have been widely used among people with dementia as a data collection tool and memory aid. An understanding of their usage is conducive to the subsequent development of intervention measures, but comprehensive evidence is still lacking. This review synthesises the existing literature to obtain an in-depth understanding of the positive and negative effects of diary usage among people with dementia and the influencing factors. The data were collected from eight databases from the inception of each database to November 2020. A thematic synthesis method was used to sort and summarise the included studies. Ten studies were chosen for the review. The following three analytical themes were identified: (i) positive changes; (ii) factors affecting the record; and (iii) negative feelings. Diaries can cause positive changes in people with dementia, but the specific patterns of stimulation and changes over time remain to be explored. Furthermore, researchers should encourage patients and their families to have a correct understanding of the diary, improve their motivation and social support, fully use the positive effects of the diary, and reduce the occurrence of negative effects. Medical staff should help caregivers improve their awareness of the usefulness and ease of the diary and encourage them to provide support and companionship to people with dementia while exhibiting a positive attitude.

The quality markers(Q-markers) of Shujin Huoxue Capsules were comprehensively discriminated based on the five principles of transfer and traceability, specificity, compatibility, effectiveness and measurability. The compounds that could be transferred from the original medicinal materials to the preparation were selected with the principle of transfer and traceability. The specific components in the prescription were screened by reviewing literature with the principle of specificity. According to the principle of compatibility, the attributes of compounds were evaluated by the sovereign, minister, assistant and guide combination rules of the original medicinal materials in the prescription. According to the principle of measurability, the measurable components were summarized by reference to the pharmacopoeia and literature combined with the content. The mechanism of Shujin Huoxue Capsules in the treatment of osteoporosis was studied through network pharmacology based on the principle of effectiveness, which was the evaluation index of effectiveness. The chemical components screened out above were regarded as candidate Q-markers, and the cobweb model was plotted to obtain the comprehensive score of Q-markers. Hydroxysafflor yellow A, trachelosid, eleutheroside B, α-cyperone, protocatechuic acid, protocatechualdehyde and 4-methoxy salicylaldehyde were discriminated as the Q-markers of Shujin Huoxue Capsules based on the five principles combined with cobweb model.

BACKGROUND: Low temperature (LT) often occurs at the seedling stage in the early rice-growing season, especially for direct seeded early-season indica rice, and using flooding irrigation can mitigate LT damage in rice seedlings. The molecular mechanism by which flooding mitigates the damage induced by LT stress has not been fully elucidated. Thus, LT stress at 8 °C, LT accompanied by flooding (LTF) and CK (control) treatments were established for 3 days to determine the transcriptomic, proteomic and physiological response in direct seeded rice seedlings at the seedling stage. RESULTS: LT damaged chloroplasts, and thylakoid lamellae, and increased osmiophilic bodies and starch grains compared to CK, but LTF alleviated the damage to chloroplast structure caused by LT. The physiological characteristics of treated plants showed that compared with LT, LTF significantly increased the contents of rubisco, chlorophyll, PEPCK, ATP and GA3 but significantly decreased soluble protein, MDA and ABA contents. 4D-label-free quantitative proteomic profiling showed that photosynthesis-responsive proteins, such as phytochrome, as well as chlorophyll and the tricarboxylic acid cycle were significantly downregulated in LT/CK and LTF/CK comparison groups. However, compared with LT, phytochrome, chlorophyllide oxygenase activity and the glucan branching enzyme in LTF were significantly upregulated in rice leaves. Transcriptomic and proteomic studies identified 72,818 transcripts and 5639 proteins, and 4983 genes that were identified at both the transcriptome and proteome levels. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were significantly enriched in glycine, serine and threonine metabolism, biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis and metabolic pathways. CONCLUSION: Through transcriptomic, proteomic and physiological analyses, we determined that a variety of metabolic pathway changes were induced by LT and LTF. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses demonstrated that DEGs and DEPs were associated with photosynthesis pathways, antioxidant enzymes and energy metabolism pathway-related proteins. Our study provided new insights for efforts to reduce the damage to direct seeded rice caused by low-temperature stress and provided a breeding target for low temperature flooding-resistant cultivars. Further analysis of translational regulation and metabolites may help to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which flooding mitigates low-temperature stress in direct seeded early indica rice at the seedling stage.

Considering the omnipresence of microplastics (MPs) in aquatic environments, they are expected to exert significatn impacts as carriers for diverse waterborne pollutants. In this work, the adsorptive behavior of two ionic components (i.e., sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) and Cr(VI)) has been explored against the two types of MPs as model adsorbents, namely poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and polystyrene (PS). The influence of key variables (e.g., pH, particle size, and dose of the MPs) on their adsorption behavior is evaluated from various respects. The maximum adsorption capacity values of SDBS on PET and PS are estimated to be 4.80 and 4.65 mg⋅g-1, respectively, while those of Cr(VI) ions are significantly lower at 0.080 and 0.072 mg⋅g-1, respectively, The adsorptive equilibrium of SDBS is best described in relation to pH and MP size by a Freundlich isotherm. In contrast, the adsorption behavior of Cr(VI) is best accounted for by a Langmuir isotherm to indicate its adsorption across at least two active surface sites.
