RESUMEN

Prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers are the most common malignancies of the urinary system. Chemotherapeutic drugs are generally used as adjuvant treatment in the middle, late, or recurrence stages after surgery for urologic cancers. However, traditional chemotherapy is plagued by problems such as poor efficacy, severe side effects, and complications. Copper-containing nanomedicines are promising novel cancer treatment modalities that can potentially overcome these disadvantages. Copper homeostasis and cuproptosis play crucial roles in the development, adaptability, and therapeutic sensitivity of urological malignancies. Cuproptosis refers to the direct binding of copper ions to lipoylated components of the tricarboxylic acid cycle, leading to protein oligomerization, loss of iron-sulfur proteins, proteotoxic stress, and cell death. This review focuses on copper homeostasis and cuproptosis as well as recent findings on copper and cuproptosis in urological malignancies. Furthermore, we highlight the potential therapeutic applications of copper- and cuproptosis-targeted therapies to better understand cuproptosis-based drugs for the treatment of urological tumors in the future.

We aim to develop an amplified luminescence proximity homogeneous assay (AlphaLISA) for quantification of trypsinogen-2 levels in human serum for the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. Based on new amplified luminescence proximity homogeneity assay (AlphaLISA) method, carboxyl-modified donor and acceptor beads were coupled to capture and detection antibodies. A double antibody sandwich immunoassay was used to detect the concentration of trypsinogen-2 in serum. The method had good linearity (> 0.998). The intra - analysis precision was between 1.54% and 2.20% (< 10%), the inter-analysis precision was between 3.17% and 6.94% (< 15%), and the recovery was between 96.23% and 103.45%. The cross-reactivity of carbohydrate antigen 242 (CA242) and T-cell immunoglobulin mucin-3 (Tim-3) were 0.09% and 0.93%, respectively. The detection time only needed 15 min. The results of trypsinogen-2-AlphaLISA and time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay were consistent (ρ = 0.9019). In addition, serum trypsinogen-2 concentration in patients with acute pancreatitis [239.23 (17.83-807.58) ng/mL] was significantly higher than that in healthy controls [20.54 (12.10-39.73) ng/mL]. When the cut-off value was 35.38ng/mL, the sensitivity and specificity were 91.8% and 96.67%, and the positive detection rate was 91.80%. We have successfully established a trypsinogen-2-AlphaLISA method, which can promote the timely diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.

Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome (BHD) represents a rare autosomal dominant tumor predisposition syndrome characterized by skin lesions, lung cysts, and renal tumors. The predominant histological subtypes of BHD-related renal tumors include hybrid oncocytoma-chromophobe tumors, oncocytomas, and chromophobe renal cell carcinomas, all exhibiting eosinophilic/oncocytic features. Immunohistochemistry staining for KIT (CD117) and CK7 exhibits variability in these tumor types. Germline mutations in FLCN have been consistently identified. Generally, patients with BHD demonstrate a favorable prognosis with minimal metastatic potential. Nonetheless, the comprehensive elucidation of pathological characteristics of BHD remains incomplete, particularly in BHD-associated renal tumors that deviate from the previously identified subtypes, thereby complicating the differential diagnosis. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of BHD encompassing epidemiology, clinical manifestations, genetic and molecular pathogenesis, as well as clinical diagnostic modalities. Emphasis is placed on clinicopathological features, specifically focusing on BHD-associated renal tumors. Collectively, this review aims to present the latest insights into BHD which benefits in the early detection, therapeutic decision-making, and prognosis prediction in BHD cases, and deepen the understanding of sporadic renal tumors.

BACKGROUND: Ambient particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter ≤ 2.5 µm (PM2.5) consists of various toxic constituents. However, the health effect of PM2.5 may differ depending on its constituents, but the joint effect of PM2.5 constituents remains incompletely understood. OBJECTIVE: Our goal was to evaluate the joint effect of long-term PM2.5 constituent exposures on dyslipidemia and identify the most hazardous chemical constituent. METHODS: This study included 67,015 participants from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort study. The average yearly levels of PM2.5 constituents for all individuals at their residences were assessed through satellite remote sensing and chemical transport modeling. Dyslipidemia was defined as one or more following abnormal blood lipid concentrations: total cholesterol (TC) ≥ 6.22 mmol/L, triglycerides (TG) ≥ 2.26 mmol/L, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) < 1.04 mmol/L, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ≥ 4.14 mmol/L. The logistic regression model was utilized to examine the single effect of PM2.5 constituents on dyslipidemia, while the weighted quantile sum regression model for the joint effect. RESULTS: The odds ratio with a 95 % confidence interval for dyslipidemia positively related to per-SD increase in the three-year average was 1.29 (1.20-1.38) for PM2.5 mass, 1.25 (1.17-1.34) for black carbon, 1.24 (1.16-1.33) for ammonium, 1.33 (1.24-1.43) for nitrate, 1.34 (1.25-1.44) for organic matter, 1.15 (1.08-1.23) for sulfate, 1.30 (1.22-1.38) for soil particles, and 1.12 (1.05-1.92) for sea salt. Stronger associations were observed in individuals < 65 years of age, males, and those with low physical activity. Joint exposure to PM2.5 constituents was positively related to dyslipidemia (OR: 1.09, 95 %CI: 1.05-1.14). Nitrate was identified as the constituent with the largest weight (weighted at 0.387). CONCLUSIONS: Long-term exposure to PM2.5 constituents poses a significant risk to dyslipidemia and nitrate might be the most responsible for the risk. These findings indicate that reducing PM2.5 constituent exposures, especially nitrate, could be beneficial to alleviate the burden of disease attributed to PM2.5-related dyslipidemia.

BACKGROUND: Geographic altitude is a potent environmental factor for human microbiota and bone mineral density. However, little evidence exists in population-based studies with altitude diversity ranges across more than 3000 m. This study assessed the associations between a wide range of altitudes and bone mineral density, as well as the potential mediating role of microbiota in this relationship. METHODS: A total of 99,556 participants from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) study were enrolled. The altitude of each participant was extracted from global Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) 4 data. Bone mineral density was measured by calcaneus quantitative ultrasound index (QUI). Stool samples were collected for 16S rRNA gene sequencing (n = 1384). The metabolites of gut microbiota, seven kinds of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), were detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS, n = 128). After screening, 73,974 participants were selected for the "altitude-QUI" analysis and they were placed into the low-altitude (LA) and high-altitude (HA) groups. Additionally, a subgroup (n = 1384) was further selected for the "altitude-microbiota-QUI" analysis. Multivariate linear regression models and mediation analyses were conducted among participants. RESULTS: A significant negative association between high-altitude and QUI was obtained (mean difference = -0.373 standard deviation [SD], 95% confidence interval [CI]: -0.389, -0.358, n = 73,974). The same negative association was also observed in the population with microbiota data (mean difference = -0.185 SD, 95%CI: -0.360, -0.010, n = 1384), and a significant mediating effect of Catenibacteriumon on the association between altitude and QUI (proportion mediated = 25.2%, P = 0.038) was also noticed. Additionally, the acetic acid, butyric acid, and total amount of seven SCFAs of the low-altitude group were significantly higher than that of the high-altitude group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: High-altitude exposure may decrease bone mineral density in adults, thus increasing the risk of osteoporosis. The modulation of gut microbiota may be a potential strategy for alleviating the decrease of bone mineral density.

The study aims to investigate effect of earthworm activity on metal bioavailability in soils using their BSAF-metals. Based on a microcosmic laboratory experiment, epigeic species Amynthas corticis (A. corticis) and endogeic species Amynthas robustus (A. robustus) were cultured in two types of soils contaminated by Cd, Zn, Pb and Cu for 120 days. Earthworm characteristics (i.e. numbers, biomass and BSAF), soil properties (i.e. pH, organic C and N contents along with their components such as mineralization and microbial masses) and DTPA extracted metals in soil were determined. After the incubation, the biomass and survival numbers of both earthworm species decreased significantly (P < 0.05). The accumulation of Cd, Zn and Pb in earthworm tissues and BSAF-metals were earthworm species dependent. According to two-way ANOVA, BSAF-Pb clearly showed the effect of different species of earthworms while BSAF-Cu indicated an interactive effect of earthworms and soil type. Earthworms changed soil properties significantly, especially for mineralized C (Cmin), dissolved N (Ndis) and pH (P < 0.05). Earthworm activity increase DTPA extracted Zn and Cu, and the effect of A. robustus were stronger than for A. corticis. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that BSAF-Cu and BSAF-Pb contributed for respectively 51.9% and 51.7% of soil properties and DTPA metal changes, indicating that the effects of BSAF-Cu and BSAF-Pb on soil properties and on metal bioavailability in soil were similar. BSAF-Cu, indicating the interactive effect of earthworms and soil, accounted for 38.5% and 45.1% of soil properties and soil metal bioavailability changes. BSAF-Pb, representing the effect of earthworm species, accounted for 13.3% and 6.6% of soil property and soil metal bioavailability variations. Stepwise regression indicated that earthworm might change soil properties through their activities and interactions with soil, and hence increase heavy metal bioavailability. It suggested that BSAF is an important indicator for evaluating the effect of earthworm activity on soil metal bioavailability and designing remediation strategies.

OBJECTIVES: To predict the recurrence of acute pancreatitis (AP) by constructing a radiomics model of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) at AP first attack. METHODS: We retrospectively enrolled 389 first-attack AP patients (271 in the primary cohort and 118 in the validation cohort) from three tertiary referral centers; 126 and 55 patients endured recurrent attacks in each cohort. Four hundred twelve radiomics features were extracted from arterial and venous phase CECT images, and clinical characteristics were gathered to develop a clinical model. An optimal radiomics signature was chosen using a multivariable logistic regression or support vector machine. The radiomics model was developed and validated by incorporating the optimal radiomics signature and clinical characteristics. The performance of the radiomics model was assessed based on its calibration and classification metrics. RESULTS: The optimal radiomics signature was developed based on a multivariable logistic regression with 10 radiomics features. The classification accuracy of the radiomics model well predicted the recurrence of AP for both the primary and validation cohorts (87.1% and 89.0%, respectively). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the radiomics model was significantly better than that of the clinical model for both the primary (0.941 vs. 0.712, p = 0.000) and validation (0.929 vs. 0.671, p = 0.000) cohorts. Good calibration was observed for all the models (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The radiomics model based on CECT performed well in predicting AP recurrence. As a quantitative method, radiomics exhibits promising performance in terms of alerting recurrent patients to potential precautions. KEY POINTS: • The incidence of recurrence after an initial episode of acute pancreatitis is high, and quantitative methods for predicting recurrence are lacking. • The radiomics model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography performed well in predicting the recurrence of acute pancreatitis. • As a quantitative method, radiomics exhibits promising performance in terms of alerting recurrent patients to the potential need to take precautions.

STUDY QUESTION: Do specific factors affect the segregation patterns of a quadrivalent structure and can the quadrivalent affect genome stability during meiosis? SUMMARY ANSWER: Meiotic segregation patterns can be affected by the carrier's gender and age, location of breakpoints and chromosome type, and the quadrivalent structure can increase genome instability during meiosis. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Carriers of reciprocal translocations have an increased genetic reproductive risk owing to the complex segregation patterns of a quadrivalent structure. However, the results of previous studies on the factors that affect segregation patterns seem to be contradictory, and the effect of a quadrivalent on genome stability during meiosis is unknown. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: We designed a retrospective study to analyze the segregation patterns of 24 chromosomes from reciprocal translocation and non-translocation patients. Data for 356 reciprocal translocation carriers and 53 patients with the risk to transmit monogenic inherited disorders (RTMIDs) undergoing PGD-single nucleotide polymorphism array analysis were collected. The study was performed between March 2014 and July 2017. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS: Segregation patterns of a quadrivalent in 1842 blastocysts from 466 assisted reproduction cycles of reciprocal translocation carriers were analyzed according to the location of chromosome breakpoints, the carrier's gender and age, and chromosome type. In addition, to analyze the effect of quadrivalent structure on genome stability, segregation products of chromosomes which are not involved in the translocation from translocation carriers were compared with those of 23 pairs of chromosomes in 318 blastocysts from 72 assisted reproduction cycles of patients with RTMIDs. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: The percentage of adjacent-2 products with severe asymmetric quadrivalent was significantly higher than those with mild asymmetric quadrivalent (P = 0.020) while, in contrast, the incidence of 4:0/others was lower (P = 0.030). The frequencies of adjacent-1, adjacent-2 and 3:1 products differed between male and female carriers (P < 0.001, P = 0.015 and P = 0.001, respectively), and also for adjacent-1 and 4:0/others products in young versus older carriers (P = 0.04 and P = 0.002, respectively). In addition, adjacent-1 products of a quadrivalent with an acrocentric chromosome were significantly higher than those of a quadrivalent without an acrocentric chromosome (P = 0.001). Moreover, a quadrivalent could significantly increase the frequencies of abnormal chromosomes compared to patients with RTMIDs (P = 0.048, odds ratio (OR) = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.01-2.43), especially for the male carriers (P = 0.018, OR = 1.58, 95% CI = 1.08-2.25). In contrast, for older carriers, no difference was found in both aneuploidy and segmental anomalies compared to patients with RTMIDs. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION: The study contained appropriate controls, yet the analysis was limited by a small number of control patients and embryos. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: Until now, there had been no definite report about the effect of quadrivalents on genome stability in reciprocal translocation carriers compared with control samples, and in the present study the large sample size ensured a detailed analysis of factors with a possible impact on segregation patterns. These data provide a better insight into the meiotic mechanisms involved in non-disjunction events in gametes from reciprocal translocation carriers. In addition, our results will help to provide each reciprocal translocation carrier couple undergoing PGD with more appropriate genetic counseling and a better understanding of the large numbers of abnormal embryos with chromosome aneuploidy. OBJECTIVE: To report on prenatal diagnosis and follow up of two patients with paternal uniparental disomy of chromosome 6 (pUPD6). METHODS: Fetal cells were subjected to in situ culturing and G-banded chromosomal analysis. DNA samples of the fetuses and their parents were also analyzed with single nucleotide polymorphism microarray (SNP array). RESULTS: Both fetuses had a normal male karyotype. SNP array analysis showed both have carried pUPD6. CONCLUSION: pUPD6 can lead to transient neonatal diabetes mellitus type 1. Homozygous status of recessive mutations, disorder of gene imprinting, and its influence on placental function are the main factors to be considered during prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling for pUPD6.

Patients with coronary artery disease show high serum levels of interleukin (IL)-27, a novel member of the IL-6 family. However, the function of IL-27 in hearts suffering ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury is unclear. Here, we showed increased expression of mRNA for the IL-27 subunits, EBI3 and p28, in rat hearts after 40 min of coronary ligation and release for 7 days. This increase was associated with a peak in the release of the cardiac enzyme, creatine kinase-MB, on day 2 post-release. Moreover, levels of IL-27 receptor subunit gp130 mRNA, but not those of subunit WSX-1 mRNA, decreased in post-ischemic hearts. These results suggest that increased IL-27 production may compensate for receptor downregulation during myocardial recovery. Lactate dehydrogenase release and crystal violet staining revealed that IL-27 or IL-6 significantly attenuated severe hypoxia (SH, 2 % O2)-induced cell damage in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts and primary rat neonatal cardiomyocytes. Incubating cardiomyocytes with IL-27 or IL-6 resulted in time-dependent activation of signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3). Interestingly, IL-27-induced STAT3 activation was attenuated by pre-treatment with a gp130-neutralizing antibody. Blocking gp130 also reduced the cytoprotective effects of IL-27 or IL-6. Moreover, IL-27-mediated protection against SH was blocked by stattic, a small-molecule inhibitor of STAT3. IL-27 markedly improved post-ischemic recovery and reduced tissue damage in isolated perfused hearts when administered 5 min before reperfusion. These results indicate that IL-27 protects the myocardium against IR injury and facilitates the recovery of damaged cardiomyocytes via the gp130/STAT3 pathway.

The effect of quadrivalent geometry on meiotic behaviour was evaluated. Segregation patterns of 404 cleavage stage embryos from 40 reciprocal translocation carriers undergoing 75 PGD cycles were analysed according to the asymmetric degree of quadrivalent. The percentage of alternate products with severe asymmetric quadrivalents was significantly lower than patients with mild asymmetric quadrivalents (22.5% versus 38.7%, P = 0.001). The incidence of 3:1 products was significantly higher in patients with severe compared with mild asymmetric quadrivalents (23.1% versus 12.2%, P = 0.004). The incidence of adjacent 1 (25.8% versus 24.3%), 2 (11.5% versus 12.6%) and 4:0/other segregation products (17.0% versus 12.2%) were not statistically significantly different between embryos from patients with severe or mild asymmetric quadrivalents. After adjusting for the confounder of sex using a logistic regression model, the odds of alternate embryos is about one-half for carriers classified as severe (OR 0.456, 95% CI 0.291 to 0.705), and the odds of 3:1 embryos is 2.2 times higher for carriers with severe asymmetric quadrivalents (OR 2.235, 95% CI 1.318 to 3.846). Our results suggest that the meiotic segregation pattern is related to the degree of asymmetry of specific quadrivalents. Severe asymmetric quadrivalents increases the risk of abnormal embryos.

BACKGROUND: Axillary lymph nodes (ALN) are the most commonly involved site of disease in breast cancer that has spread outside the primary lesion. Although sentinel node biopsy is a reliable way to manage ALN, there are still no good methods of predicting ALN status before surgery. Since morbidity in breast cancer surgery is predominantly related to ALN dissection, predictive models for lymph node involvement may provide a way to alert the surgeon in subgroups of patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 1325 invasive breast cancer patients were analyzed using tumor biological parameters that included age, tumor size, grade, estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, lymphovascular invasion, and HER2, to test their ability to predict ALN involvement. A support vector machine (SVM) was used as a classification model. The SVM is a machine-learning system developed using statistical learning theories to classify data points into 2 classes. Notably, SVM models have been applied in bioinformatics. RESULTS: The SVM model correctly predicted ALN metastases in 74.7% of patients using tumor biological parameters. The predictive ability of luminal A, luminal B, triple negative, and HER2 subtypes using subgroup analysis showed no difference, and this predictive performance was inferior, with only 60% accuracy. CONCLUSIONS: With an SVM model based on clinical pathologic parameters obtained in the primary tumor, it is possible to predict ALN status in order to alert the surgeon about breast cancer counseling and in decision-making for ALN management.

BACKGROUND: To compare the association between prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels and prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM), and the effectiveness of local treatment in patients with high-grade and low-grade prostate cancer (PCa). METHODS: This retrospective cohort study enrolled patients diagnosed with clinically localized PCa (cT1-4N0M0) from January 2010 to December 2020 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Fine-Gray competing risk regression analysis was conducted to generate cumulative incidence plots and estimate the hazards ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of PCSM. Multivariable restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was used to examine the non-linear associations of continuous values of PSA levels with PCSM. Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) was employed to minimize imbalances in baseline characteristics between different local treatment cohorts. RESULTS: A total of 392083 eligible patients were included in the study, including 327659 low-grade (Gleason score [GS]≤7) PCa and 64424 high-grade (GS≥8) PCa. In multivariate Fine-Gray competing risk regression analysis, using PSA levels of 4.1-10.0 ng/ml as the reference, the adjusted HR among high-grade patients with PSA levels ≤2.5 ng/ml, 2.6-4.0 ng/ml, 10.1-20.0 ng/ml and >20.0 ng/ml were 1.988 (95% CI=1.677-2.358), 1.411 (95% CI=1.194-1.668), 1.472 (95% CI=1.351-1.603) and 2.506 (95% CI=2.318-2.709), respectively. Among low-grade PCa, the adjusted HR were 0.985 (95% CI=0.800-1.213), 0.727 (95% CI=0.602-0.877), 1.844 (95% CI=1.679-2.026) and 3.574 (95% CI=3.220-3.966), respectively. Multivariable-adjusted RCS analysis showed a U/J-shaped distribution relationship between PSA levels and PCSM in high-grade PCa, while there was a positive association between PSA levels and PCSM in low-grade PCa. As for local treatment effectiveness, radiation therapy (RT) provided better control of PCSM compared to radical prostatectomy (RP) and RP+RT in high-grade PCa, while RP provided better control of PCSM compared to RT and RP+RT in low-grade PCa. CONCLUSION: Low PSA level (≤2.5 ng/ml) is significantly associated with very high risk of PCSM in high-grade localized PCa but not in low-grade localized PCa. High-grade localized PCa patients benefit more from RT in terms of PCSM control, while low-grade localized PCa patients benefit more from RP. High-grade localized PCa with low PSA level may be a unique subgroup that could benefit from novel risk stratification strategies in PCa, which requires further studies to investigate the potential of developing novel therapeutic strategies, prognostic tools, and clinical management approaches.

Seawater batteries are attracting continuous attention because seawater as an electrolyte is inexhaustible, eco-friendly, and free of charge. However, the rechargeable seawater batteries developed nowadays show poor reversibility and short cycle life, due to the very limited electrode materials and complicated yet inappropriate working mechanism. Here, we propose a rechargeable seawater battery that works through a rocking-chair mechanism encountered in commercial lithium ion batteries, enabled by intercalation-type inorganic electrode materials of open-framework-type cathode and Na-ion conducting membrane-type anode. The rechargeable seawater battery achieves a high specific energy of 80.0 Wh/kg at 1,226.9 W/kg and a high specific power of 7,495.0 W/kg at 23.7 Wh/kg. Additionally, it exhibits excellent cycling stability, retaining 66.3% of its capacity over 1,000 cycles. This work represents a promising avenue for developing sustainable aqueous batteries with low costs.

BACKGROUND: The health effects of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) might differ depending on compositional variations. Little is known about the joint effect of PM2.5 constituents on metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study aims to evaluate the combined associations of PM2.5 components with CVD, identify the most detrimental constituent, and further quantify the mediation effect of metabolic syndrome. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 14 427 adults were included in a cohort study in Sichuan, China, and were followed to obtain the diagnosis of CVD until 2021. Metabolic syndrome was defined by the simultaneous occurrence of multiple metabolic disorders measured at baseline. The concentrations of PM2.5 chemical constituents within a 1-km2 grid were derived based on satellite- and ground-based detection methods. Cox proportional hazard models showed that black carbon, organic matter (OM), nitrate, ammonium, chloride, and sulfate were positively associated with CVD risks, with hazard ratios (HRs) ranging from 1.24 to 2.11 (all P<0.05). Quantile g-computation showed positive associations with 4 types of CVD risks (HRs ranging from 1.48 to 2.25, all P<0.05). OM and chloride had maximum weights for CVD risks. Causal mediation analysis showed that the positive association of OM with total CVD was mediated by metabolic syndrome, with a mediation proportion of 1.3% (all P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Long-term exposure to PM2.5 chemical constituents is positively associated with CVD risks. OM and chloride appear to play the most responsible role in the positive associations between PM2.5 and CVD. OM is probably associated with CVD through metabolic-related pathways.

Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common tumor of the male genitourinary system. With the development of imaging technology, the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the management of PCa is increasing. The present study summarizes research on the application of MRI in the field of PCa using bibliometric analysis and predicts future research hotspots. Methods: Articles regarding the application of MRI in PCa between January 1, 1984 and June 30, 2022 were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) on November 6, 2022. Microsoft Excel 2016 and the Bibliometrix Biblioshiny R-package software were used for data analysis and bibliometric indicator extraction. CiteSpace (version 6.1.R3) was used to visualize literature feature clustering, including co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and burst keywords analysis. Results: A total of 10,230 articles were included in the study. Turkbey was the most prolific author. The USA was the most productive country and had strong partnerships with other countries. The most productive institution was Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Radiology were the most productive and highest impact factor (IF) journals in the field, respectively. Timeline views showed that "#1 multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging", "#4 pi-rads", and "#8 psma" were currently the latest research hotspots. Keywords burst analysis showed that "machine learning", "psa density", "multi parametric mri", "deep learning", and "artificial intelligence" were the most frequently used keywords in the past 3 years. Conclusions: MRI has a wide range of applications in PCa. The USA is the leading country in this field, with a concentration of highly productive and high-level institutions. Meanwhile, it can be projected that "deep learning", "radiomics", and "artificial intelligence" will be research hotspots in the future.

Superhydrophobic polyurethane foam is one of the most promising materials for oil-water separation. However, there are only limited studies prepared matrix superhydrophobic foams as adsorbents. In this paper, SiO2 modified by 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorododecyl trichlorosilane (F-SiO2) was added into the lignin-based foam matrix by a one-step foaming technique. The average diameter of F-SiO2 was about 480 nm with an water contact angle (WCA) of 160.3°. The lignin-based polyurethane foam with F-SiO2 had a superhydrophobic water contact angle of 151.3°. There is no obvious change in contact angle after 100 cycles of compression or after cutting and abrasion. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that F-SiO2 was distributed both on the surface and inside of the foam. The efficiency for oil-water separation reached 99 %. Under the light intensity of 1 kW/m2, the surface temperature of the lignin-based foam rose to 77.6 °C. In addition, the foam exhibited self-cleaning properties and degraded within 2 h in an alcoholic alkali solution. Thus, in this study, we developed a novel matrix superhydrophobic lignin-based polyurethane foam with an excellent promise to be used as oil water separation adsorbents in industrial wastewater treatment and oil spill clean-up processes.

Here a new strategy of catalyst-free direct synthesis of covalent adaptable network polyurethanes (LPUs) from lignin with editable shape memory effect is reported. Using unmodified lignin, PEG, and isocyanate under the condition of the isocyanate index less than 1.0 (NCO/OH<1.0), a variety of LPUs are obtained. When NCO/OH=0.8, a stable cross-linked network can be formed (ex. the gel content of LPU50-0.8 was 98±0.3 %). The activation energy (Ea ) value of LPUs is similar to that of polyhydroxyurethanes (PHUs), at around 110 kJ mol-1 . With an increase of lignin content, the LPUs show a transition from ductile fracture to brittle fracture mode. And the mechanical properties of LPUs are significantly enhanced after extrusion processing, with the maximum modulus reaching 649±26 MPa and the maximum toughness up to 9927±111 kJ m-3 . The improvement in mechanical properties is due to the homogenization of complex cross-linked network under the powerful external force of the extruder and the lignin that originally was free in the system participated in the exchange reactions. Moreover, LPUs can also be prepared continuously in one step by using an extruder as the reactor. In addition, LPU50-0.8 has an editable shape memory effect. This study develops a novel method for the synthesis of LPU from lignin with NCO/OH<1.0, showcasing new possibilities for value-added utilization of lignin, and expands the bio-based products portfolio from biomass feedstock to help meet future green manufacturing demands.

Developing practical and cost-effective adsorbents with satisfactory mercury (Hg) remediation capability is indispensable for aquatic environment safety and public health. Herein, a recyclable hierarchical MoS2/Fe3O4 nanocomposite (by in-situ growth of MoS2 nanosheets on the surface of Fe3O4 nanospheres) is presented for the selective removal of Hg(II) from aquatic samples. It exhibited high adsorption capacity (∼1923.5 mg g -1), fast kinetics (k2 ∼ 0.56 mg g -1 min-1), broad working pH range (2-11), excellent selectivity (Kd > 1.0 × 107 mL g -1), and great reusability (removal efficiency > 90% after 20 cycles). In particular, removal efficiencies of up to ∼97% for different Hg(II) concentrations (10-1000 µg L -1) in natural water and industrial effluents confirmed the practicability of MoS2/Fe3O4. The possible mechanism for effective Hg(II) removal was discussed by a series of characterization analyses, which was attributed to the alteration of the MoS2 structure and the surface coordination of Hg-S. The accessibility of surface sulfur sites and the diffusion of Hg(II) in the solid-liquid system were enhanced due to the advantage of the expanded interlayer spacing (0.96 nm) and the hierarchical structure. This study suggests that MoS2/Fe3O4 is a promising material for Hg(II) removal in actual scenarios and provides a feasible approach by rationally constructing hierarchical structures to promote the practical applications of MoS2 in sustainable water treatments.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to understand mouse osteoblast ferroptosis under high fluoride environment by stimulating fluoride levels to corresponding levels. In order to define the underlying mechanism of fluoride resistance in mammals and provide a theoretical basis for fluorosis treatment, high-throughput sequencing was applied to map the genetic changes of fluoride-resistant mouse osteoblasts and analyze the role of ferroptosis-related genes. METHODS: Cell Counting Kit-8, Reactive Oxygen Species Assay Kit and C11 BODIPY 581/591 were used to monitor proliferation and ferroptosis of mouse osteoblasts MC3T3-E1 under high fluoride environment. Fluoride-tolerant MC3T3-E1 cells were developed by gradient fluoride exposure. The differentially expressed genes of fluorine-resistant MC3T3-E1 cells were identified by high-throughput sequencing. RESULTS: MC3T3-E1 cells cultured in medium containing 20, 30, 60, 90 ppm F- exhibited decreased viability and increased reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxidation levels in correlation with F- concentrations. High-throughput RNA sequencing identified 2702 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) showed more than 2-fold difference in 30 ppm FR MC3T3-E1 cells, of which 17 DEGs were associated with ferroptosis. CONCLUSION: High fluoride environment affected the content of lipid peroxides in the body and increased the level of ferroptosis, further, ferroptosis-related genes played specific roles in the fluoride resistance of mouse osteoblasts.
