RESUMEN

Investigations on placental P-glycoprotein (P-gp) regulation could provide more therapeutic targets for individualized and safe pharmacotherapy during pregnancy. The role of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) on placental P-gp regulation is lacking. The present study was carried out to investigate the regulation and underlying mechanisms of lncRNA urothelial carcinoma associated 1 (UCA1) on P-gp in Bewo cells. lncRNA UCA1 inhibition or overexpression could decrease or increase ABCB1 mRNA expression, P-gp expression and its cellular efflux function, respectively. RNA-FISH revealed that lncRNA UCA1 was mainly located in the cytoplasm of Bewo cells. MicroRNA array was applied and 10 significant miRNAs was identified after lncRNA UCA1 inhibition. Databases of LncTarD, LncRNA2Target, and miRcode were further used to search potential target miRNAs of lncRNA UCA1 and miR-16-5p was screened out. Thereafter, we confirmed that miR-16-5p expression was significantly upregulated or reduced after lncRNA UCA1 knockdown or overexpression, respectively. Furthermore, we also proved that ABCB1 mRNA expression, P-gp expression and its cellular efflux function was enhanced or reduced after miR-16-5p inhibition or overexpression, respectively. The rescue experiment further indicated that miR-16-5p was involved in the positive regulation of lncRNA UCA1 on the expression and function of P-gp. Lastly, dual-luciferase reporter system, RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation and RNA pull-down assays were performed to explore the relationships among lncRNA UCA1, miR-16-5p, and ABCB1. It was found that lncRNA UCA1(1103-1125) could directly interact with miR-16-5p and miR-16-5p could directly target ABCB1 coding DNA sequence region (882-907). In conclusion, LncRNA UCA1 could promote the expression and function of P-gp by sponging miR-16-5p in BeWo cells.

RESUMEN

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) have garnered significant attention as a modifiable substrate because of their exceptional performances, including remarkable degradability, high tensile strength, high elastic modulus, and biocompatibility. In this article, the successful adsorption of phytic acid (PA) onto the surface of cellulose nanocrystals @polydopamine (CNC@PDA) was achieved. Taking inspiration from mussels, a dopamine self-polymerization reaction was employed to coat the surface of CNCs with PDA. Utilizing Pickering emulsion, the CNC@PDA-PA nanomaterial was obtained by grafting PA onto CNC@PDA. An environmentally friendly hydrogel was prepared through various reversible interactions using poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and Fe3+ as raw materials with the assistance of CNC@PDA-PA. By multiple hydrogen bonding and metal-ligand coordination, nanocomposite hydrogels exhibit remarkable mechanical properties (the tensile strength and strain were 1.82 MPa and 442.1%, respectively) in addition to spectacular healing abilities (96.6% after 5 h). The study aimed to develop an innovative approach for fabricating nanocomposite hydrogels with exceptional self-healing capabilities.

RESUMEN

The deactivation of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts caused by alkali metal poisoning remains an insurmountable challenge. In this study, we examined the impact of Na poisoning on the performance of Fe and Mo co-doped TiO2 (FeaMobTiOx) catalysts in the SCR reaction and revealed the related alkali resistance mechanism. On the obtained Fe1Mo2.6TiOx catalyst, the synergistic catalytic effect of uniformly dispersed FeOx and MoOx species leads to remarkable catalytic activity, with over 90% NO conversion achieved in a wide temperature range of 210-410 °C. During the Na poisoning process, Na ions predominantly adsorb on the MoOx species, which exhibit stronger alkali resistance, effectively safeguarding the FeOx species. This preferential adsorption minimizes the negative effect of Na poisoning on Fe1Mo2.6TiOx. Moreover, Na poisoning has little influence on the Eley-Rideal reaction pathway involving adsorbed NHx reacting with gaseous NOx. After Na poisoning, the Lewis acid sites were deteriorated, while the abundant Brønsted acid sites ensured sufficient NHx adsorption. As a benefit from the self-defense effects of active MoOx species for alkali capture, FeaMobTiOx exhibits exceptional alkali resistance in the SCR reaction. This research provides valuable insights for the design of highly efficient and alkali-resistant SCR catalysts.

RESUMEN

Cancer cells prefer glycolysis to support their proliferation. Our previous studies have shown that the long palate, lung, and nasal epithelial cell clone 1 (LPLUNC1) can upregulate prohibitin 1 (PHB1) expression to inhibit the proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells. Given that PHB1 is an important regulator of cell energy metabolism, we explored whether and how LPLUNC1 regulated glucose glycolysis in NPC cells. LPLUNC1 or PHB1 overexpression decreased glycolysis and increased oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS)-related protein expression in NPC cells, promoting phosphorylated PHB1 nuclear translocation through 14-3-3σ. LPLUNC1 overexpression also increased p53 but decreased c-Myc expression in NPC cells, which were crucial for the decrease in glycolysis and increase in OXPHOS-related protein expression induced by LPLUNC1 overexpression. Finally, we found that treatment with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) reduced the viability and clonogenicity of NPC cells, decreased glycolysis, and increased OXPHOS-related protein expression by enhancing LPLUNC1 expression in NPC cells. Therefore, the LPLUNC1-PHB1-p53/c-Myc axis decreased glycolysis in NPC cells, and ATRA upregulated LPLUNC1 expression, ATRA maybe a promising drug for the treatment of NPC.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Angelica polysaccharides (AP) have numerous benefits in relieving type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the underlying mechanisms have yet to be fully understood. Recent many reports have suggested that altering gut microbiota can have adverse effects on the host metabolism and contribute to the development of T2D. Here, we successfully established the T2D model using the male KKAy mice with high-fat and high-sugar feed. Meanwhile, the male C57BL/6 mice were fed with a normal feed. T2D KKAy mice were fed either with or without AP supplementation. In each group, we measured the mice's fasting blood glucose, weight, and fasting serum insulin levels. We collected the cecum content of mice, the gut microbiota was analyzed by targeted full-length 16S rRNA metagenomic sequencing and metabolites were analyzed by untargeted-metabolomics. RESULTS: We found AP effectively alleviated glycemic disorders of T2D KKAy mice, with the changes in gut microbiota composition and function. Many bacteria species and metabolites were markedly changed in T2D KKAy mice and reversed by AP. Additionally, 16 altered metabolic pathways affected by AP were figured out by combining metagenomic pathway enrichment analysis and metabolic pathway enrichment analysis. The key metabolites in 16 metabolic pathways were significantly associated with the gut microbial alteration. Together, our findings showed that AP supplementation could attenuate the diabetic phenotype. Significant gut microbiota and gut metabolite changes were observed in the T2D KKAy mice and AP intervention. CONCLUSIONS: Administration of AP has been shown to improve the composition of intestinal microbiota in T2D KKAy mice, thus providing further evidence for the potential therapeutic application of AP in the treatment of T2D.

RESUMEN

The curved photonic nanojet (CPNJ) produced due to the interaction between a dielectric circular cylinder rotating at a stable angular velocity and a plane wave is investigated. Based on this model, the optical Magnus effect of a dielectric circular cylinder is verified. And the analytical expression of both internal and external electric field are given based on the instantaneous rest-frame theory and the partial-wave series expansion method in cylindrical coordinates. The influence of the size parameter, the relative refractive index, and the rotating dimensionless parameter on the CPNJ are analyzed and discussed in numerical results. The "photonic nanojet curved" effect is highlighted, which can be used to generate the off-axis photonic nanojet (PNJ) controlling particles by adjusting the angular velocity of the dielectric cylinder. The results of this manuscript have promising application prospects in optical tweezers, particle manipulation, and optical trapping. Moreover, it also provides theoretical support for the particle spinning and generation of the off-axis CPNJ.

RESUMEN

Nowadays, stretchable self-healing hydrogels designed by biomass-based materials have gathered remarkable attention in numerous frontier fields such as wound healing, health monitoring issues, and electronic skin. In this study, soy protein isolate (SPI), a common plant protein, was cross-linked to nanoparticles (SPI NPs) by Genipin, (Gen) which was attracted from the native Geniposide. Oil-in-water (O/W) Pickering emulsion was formed by SPI NPs wrapping the linseed oil, and further implanted into poly(acrylic acid)/guar gum (PAA/GG)-based self-healing hydrogels by multiple reversible weak interactions. With the addition of Pickering emulsion, the hydrogels have achieved a remarkable self-healing ability (self-healing efficiency could reach 91.6% within 10 h) and mechanical properties (tensile strength of 0.89 MPa and strain of 853.2%). Therefore, these hydrogels with good reliable durability have outstanding application prospects in sustainable materials.

RESUMEN

A visible-light metal-free photocatalytic regioselective and enantioselective alkene halofunctionalization reaction under mild conditions is reported. Various terminal and internal alkenes were transformed to their α-halogenated and α,ß-dibrominated derivatives in good to excellent yields within reaction time as short as 5 min. Water can be used as the "green" nucleophile and solvent in the halohydroxylation and halo-oxidation reactions. Different types of products can be obtained by adjusting the reaction conditions. In addition, sunlight is proved to produce products with similar yields, representing a practical example of solar synthesis and providing an opportunity for solar energy utilization.

RESUMEN

Traditional methods cannot efficiently recover Cu from Cu(II)-EDTA wastewater and encounter the formation of secondary contaminants. In this study, an ozone/percarbonate (O3/SPC) process was proposed to efficiently decomplex Cu(II)-EDTA and simultaneously recover Cu. The results demonstrate that the O3/SPC process achieves 100% recovery of Cu with the corresponding kobs value of 0.103 min-1 compared with the typical •OH-based O3/H2O2 process (81.2%, 0.042 min-1). The carbonate radical anion (CO3•-) is generated from the O3/SPC process and carries out the targeted attack of amino groups of Cu(II)-EDTA for decarboxylation and deamination processes, resulting in successive cleavage of Cu-O and Cu-N bonds. In comparison, the •OH-based O3/H2O2 process is predominantly responsible for the breakage of Cu-O bonds via decarboxylation and formic acid removal. Moreover, the released Cu(II) can be transformed into stable copper precipitates by employing an endogenous precipitant (CO32-), accompanied by toxic-free byproducts in the O3/SPC process. More importantly, the O3/SPC process exhibits excellent metal recovery in the treatment of real copper electroplating wastewater and other metal-EDTA complexes. This study provides a promising technology and opens a new avenue for the efficient decomplexation of metal-organic complexes with simultaneous recovery of valuable metal resources.

RESUMEN

The scattering of a radially polarized (r p) Bessel vortex and nonvortex beam by a perfect electromagnetic conductor (PEMC) sphere is studied based on the generalized Lorenz-Mie theory. The electric and magnetic fields of the incident arbitrary-shaped polarized beams are constructed using vector spherical wave functions (VSWFs) and beam shape coefficients. The analytical expression of the scattered field is expanded using VSWFs and scattering coefficients, which are derived by considering PEMC boundary conditions. The expression of the normalized dimensionless far-field scattering intensity (NDFSI) is also defined and derived. The photonic nanojet (PNJ) and the "bottle beam" generated by the interaction between the PEMC sphere and the vortex and nonvortex Bessel beam under r p are emphasized in this paper. Moreover, the intensity and directivity of NDFSI are also considered. It has been found that the generation of the PNJ and the "bottle beam" is determined by the half-cone angle α 0 of the r p Bessel beam and admittance parameter M of the PEMC sphere. Furthermore, the influence of M, α 0, and integer order l of the Bessel beam on the intensity and distribution of NDFSI is also discussed. The findings are important in the research on meta-materials and promising prospects in microwave engineering, antenna engineering, imaging, subwavelength focusing, optical radiation force, and torque.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to describe the knowledge, protective behaviours, and psychological impact of COVID-19 on Chinese residents in Canada, as the emotional and behavioural impacts of the pandemic have not been intensively studied amongst these populations. It was important to determine whether having dependent school-age children (DSAC) aged 16 or under was associated with adverse psychological impacts amongst the Chinese residents living in the country. METHODS: In April 2020, 757 eligible participants were recruited through a snowball sampling to complete an online survey related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Psychological, behavioural, and sociodemographic variables were collected and first analyzed using descriptive and univariate statistics. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to further confirm the observed significant associations in bivariate analyses for selected psychological outcome variables. RESULTS: Seven hundred forty-two participants who responded to the "dependent school-age children" question were included in the analysis. Most of them identified as females (65.8%) and 77.2% included receiving a university degree or higher. There were no significant differences in COVID-19 knowledge between those living with or without DSAC. However, participants with DSAC were more likely to perceive themselves as being at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 (p = .023); therefore, having a higher chance of adopting protective behaviours (e.g., hand washing, sanitizing frequently or disinfecting work and living spaces (p < .05), elevated risks of depression (p = .007), and stress (p = .010), compared to those without DSAC. CONCLUSIONS: Predominantly, the Chinese residents in Canada with dependent school-age children were more likely to report the negative psychological impacts of the pandemic. These findings warrant further investigations that may contribute to informing key stakeholders about the identification and implementation of policies and interventions to support the needs of parents with young children, during and after the pandemic.

RESUMEN

Parkinson disease (PD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease, which is associated with the loss of dopaminergic neurons (DA neurons) in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc), and neuroinflammation may lead to the occurrence of PD. Wuzi Yanzong Pill (WYP) has demonstrated neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, but its molecular mechanism of action is still unclear. In this study, we used 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced PD mice and LPS-mediated BV2 microglia to explore WYP intervention, anti-inflammatory effect and molecular mechanism in vivo and in vitro. The results showed that oral administration of WYP in MPTP-induced PD mice for 2 weeks ameliorated abnormal motor dysfunction, attenuated the loss of TH + neurons in SNpc, protected dopaminergic neurons, and inhibited the activation of microglia in MPTP-induced PD mice and LPS-stimulated BV2 cell. Meanwhile, WYP intervention inhibited the expression of IL-6, TNF-α, Pro-IL-1ß, IL-1ß, Pro-IL-18, IL-18 and enhanced the expression of IL-10 in the SNpc of PD mice. Simultaneously, WYP intervention inhibited the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome, accompanied by the decrease of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway. However, the exact target and interaction of WYP on NLRP3 inflammasome and TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway still needs to be further investigated.

RESUMEN

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a challenging medical problem. Cuproptosis is a novel form of cell death that plays a crucial role in tumorigenesis, angiogenesis, and metastasis. However, it remains unclear whether cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) influence the outcomes and immune microenvironment of HCC patients. Method: From The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) databases, we obtained the mRNA expression file and related clinical information of HCC patients. We selected 19 CRGs as candidate genes for this study according to previous literature. We performed a differential expression analysis of the 19 CRGs between malignant and precancerous tissue. Based on the 19 CRGs, we enrolled cluster analysis to identify cuproptosis-related subtypes of HCC patients. A prognostic risk signature was created utilizing univariate Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analyses. We employed independent and stratification survival analyses to investigate the predictive value of this model. The functional enrichment features, mutation signatures, immune profile, and response to immunotherapy of HCC patients were also investigated according to the two molecular subtypes and the prognostic signature. Results: We found that 17 CRGs significantly differed in HCC versus normal samples. Cluster analysis showed two distinct molecular subtypes of cuproptosis. Cluster 1 is preferentially related to poor prognosis, high activity of immune response signaling, high mutant frequency of TP53, and distinct immune cell infiltration versus cluster 2. Through univariate and LASSO Cox regression analyses, we created a cuproptosis-related prognostic risk signature containing LIPT1, DLAT, MTF1, GLS, and CDKN2A. High-risk HCC patients were shown to have a worse prognosis. The risk signature was proved to be an independent predictor of prognosis in both the TCGA and ICGC datasets, according to multivariate analysis. The signature also performed well in different stratification of clinical features. The immune cells, which included regulatory T cells (Treg), B cells, macrophages, mast cells, NK cells, and aDCs, as well as immune functions containing cytolytic activity, MHC class I, and type II IFN response, were remarkably distinct between the high-risk and low-risk groups. The tumor immune dysfunction and exclusion (TIDE) score suggested that high-risk patients had a higher response rate to immune checkpoint inhibitors than low-risk patients. Conclusion: This research discovered the potential prognostic and immunological significance of cuproptosis in HCC, improved the understanding of cuproptosis, and may deliver new directions for developing more efficacious therapeutic techniques for HCC patients.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Asthma is a hackneyed chronic inflammatory disease of the airway. Chryseriol (CSR) is a kind of flavonoid, and has the effect of bronchiectasis, indicating its potential application for treating respiratory diseases. However, the functions of CSR in asthma have not been reported till now. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The histopathologic changes of the lung tissues were assessed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. The cell apoptosis was identified through terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labelling assay. Total numbers of eosinophils, neutrophils, and macrophages were assessed under microscope. The levels of interleukin (IL)-1ß, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 were detected by enzyme-linked-immunosorbent serologic assay. The airway hyper-responsiveness (AHR) was evaluated by the whole body plethysmography. The levels of methane dicarboxylic aldehyde, superoxide dismutase, glutathione S-transferase, and glutathione in lung homogenates were confirmed by using corresponding commercial kits. The protein expressions were examined by Western blot analysis. RESULTS: The ovalbumin (OVA) was utilized to establish asthma mouse model. At first, it was revealed that CSR treatment reduced lung injury in OVA-stimulated mice. Moreover, cell apoptosis was enhanced after OVA stimulation but was attenuated by CSR treatment. In addition, CSR treatment decreased the infiltration of inflammatory cells and the production of inflammatory factors in OVA-treated mice. Further investigations demonstrated that CSR treatment relieved AHR in OVA-stimulated mice. The oxidative stress was strengthened in OVA-treated mice, but these effects were relieved by CSR treatment. Lastly, it was discovered that CSR treatment retarded nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB)/hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) pathways in OVA-triggered asthma mice. CONCLUSION: Our findings proved that CSR attenuated the progression of OVA-induced asthma in mice through inhibiting NF-κB/HIF-1α and MAPK/STAT1 pathways. This work might highlight the functions of CSR in the treatment of asthma.

RESUMEN

Twins are generally regarded as obstacles to dislocations in face-centered cubic metals and can modify individual dislocations by locking them in twin boundaries or obliging them to dissociate. Through in situ tensile experiments on Al thin film in a transmission electron microscope, we report a dynamic process of dislocations being transported by twin lamella via periodic twinning and detwinning at the atomic scale. Following this process, a 60° dislocation first transforms into a sessile step of the twin boundary, then migrates under stress as a step and finally reverts back into a 60° dislocation. Our results reveal a novel evolution route of dislocations by a dislocation-twin interaction where the twins act as transport vehicles rather than as obstacles. The potential implications of this mechanism on toughening are also discussed.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Phthalates (PEs), such as butyl benzyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, are one of the most widely used plasticizers, and humans are increasingly exposed to them. Phytochemical quercetin (Que) is a typical flavonoid with several biological effects, such as antioxidative and anti-inflammatory. The present study was designed to explore the effect of Que on testicular toxicity caused by the mixture of three commonly used PEs (MPEs), and the underlying mechanism. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly and equally divided into five groups (n = 8). Rats in control the group were orally treated with the excipient. Rats in the MPEs group were orally administered with 900 mg kg-1 day-1 MPEs, whereas rats in the MPEs+L-Que, MPEs+M-Que and MPEs+H-Que groups were simultaneously treated with 900 mg kg-1 day-1 MPEs and, respectively, 10, 30 and 90 mg kg-1 day-1 Que for 30 days. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the testes weight, epididymides weight, serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone and estradiol levels, and anogenital distance in the MPEs group were significantly decreased (P < 0.05). The testicular tissues were injured with atrophy of seminiferous tubules, hyperplasia of Leydig cells and arrest of spermatogenesis in the MPEs group. Testicular steroidogenic proteins (StAR, P450scc, CYP17A1 and 17ß-HSD, P450arom) were up-regulated, whereas P-element-induced wimpy testis proteins (PIWIL1 and PIWIL2) were down-regulated in the MPEs group (P < 0.05). However, the alterations of these parameters were inhibited in the MPEs+M-Que and MPEs+H-Que groups. CONCLUSION: MPEs disturbed steroid hormone metabolism and caused testicular injuries. Que could inhibit testicular toxicity of MPEs, which might relate to the improved regulation of steroid hormone metabolism. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Rapid progression of aortic stenosis (AS) is associated with poor outcomes, and the impact of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) on AS progression remains unknown. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between BNP level and the AS progression rate. METHODS: From January 2016 to June 2021, 200 AS patients with progression who had at least two transthoracic echocardiograms with a maximum interval of 180 days were retrospectively analyzed. Rapid progression of AS was defined as the annual increase of aortic jet velocity (Vmax) ≥0.3 m/s/year. For analyses, both the log-transformed BNP and the BNP ratio were used. The linear regression and binary logistic regression analyses were used to determine the association between BNP and the AS progression. RESULTS: At a median echocardiographic follow-up of 595 days, the annual median (interquartile) progression of Vmax was 0.26 (0.09-0.58) m/s/year. Patients with rapid progression had higher age, log BNP, and higher percentage of diabetes and male gender. Higher tertiles of log BNP and BNP ratio had more rapid increase in Vmax (p = 0.018 and 0.033, respectively). BNP ratio significantly correlated with Vmax progression in univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses (p < 0.001 and p = 0.001, respectively). Moreover, both the univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses showed that the log BNP and BNP ratio were associated with the rapid progression of AS (p < 0.050 for all). CONCLUSIONS: Higher BNP was independently associated with the rapid progression of AS.

RESUMEN

Prohibitins (PHBs) are a class of highly evolutionarily conserved proteins that widely distribute in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. PHBs function in cell growth and proliferation or differentiation, regulating metabolism and signaling pathways. PHBs have different subcellular localization in eukaryotes, but they are mainly located in mitochondria. In the mitochondria, PHBs stabilize the structure of the mitochondrial membrane and regulate mitochondrial autophagy, mitochondrial dynamics, mitochondrial biogenesis and quality control, and mitochondrial unfolded protein response. PHBs has shown to be associated with many diseases, such as mitochondria diseases, cancers, infectious diseases, and so on. Some molecule targets of PHBs can interfere with the occurrence and development of diseases. Therefore, this review clarifies the functions of PHBs in mitochondria, and provides a summary of the potential values in clinics.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the effects of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) pretreatment on pregnancy in patients with poor ovarian response (POR). METHODS: A total of 330 POR patients who were pretreated with CoQ10 or CoQ10 combined with TEAS before their in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection and embryo transfer (IVF/ICSI-ET) cycles and who were not pretreated were selected and divided into CoQ10 group (group A, n = 110), CoQ10 + TEAS group (group B, n = 110) and control group (group C, n = 110). For patients with 2 or more transfer cycles, only the information of the first cycle was included. Ovarian function, response to gonadotropin (Gn) stimulation, and pregnancy outcomes of the three groups were compared in the IVF/ICSI-ET cycles. RESULTS: After pretreatment, basal FSH, total Gn dosage and duration were comparable among the three groups (all p-value > 0.05), basal E2 in group B decreased significantly compared with the control group (p = 0.022). Endometrial thickness on the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) day, antral follicle counts (AFC), the numbers of oocytes, metaphase II (MII) eggs and excellent embryos in the two pretreatment groups were significantly increased compared with group C (all p-value < 0.001), but the rates of MII oocytes, fertilization and excellent embryos had no apparent change. The endometrial thickness on the day of hCG, the numbers of MII eggs and excellent embryos in group B were higher than those in group A (p < 0.001; p = 0.020; p = 0.027; respectively). The embryo implantation rate (IR), clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) and live birth rate (LBR) in group B were significantly higher than those in group C (p = 0.022; p = 0.010; p = 0.019; respectively), but not significantly different from group A. CONCLUSION: CoQ10 alone or in combination with TEAS are effective methods for IVF/ICSI-ET adjuvant therapy, which can significantly improve ovarian reactivity, increase the numbers of retrieved eggs and superior embryos, and improve endometrial receptivity. Adjuvant TEAS on the basis of CoQ10 can significantly enhance pregnancy rates, but CoQ10 alone failed to present such an obvious effect.

RESUMEN

Toxic toluene can be completely oxidized in CO2 and H2O with novel three-dimensional (3D) In2S3@Bi2WO6 hierarchical crystals under visible light. Dense and uniform In2S3 nanoflakes are rooted in Bi2WO6 nanoplates which intercross with each other and are anchored on a pliable tungsten mesh. This leads to the construction of a stable and porous interface for adsorbing and decomposing target gaseous toluene. The firm contact between In2S3 and Bi2WO6 initiates the formation of a built-in electric field that helps in channeling the photogenerated electrons in Bi2WO6 CB to quench the holes in2S3 VB. This results in highly capable electrons and holes, as well as notable increase in the yields of •O2- and •OH. 99.7% of toluene is removed and 93.4% is converted to CO2 when it is degraded in simulated air. This validates its remarkable efficacy in detoxifying toluene.
