Carotenoids are major accessory pigments in the chloroplast, and they also act as phytohormones and volatile compound precursors to influence plant development and confer characteristic colours, affecting both the aesthetic and nutritional value of fruits. Carotenoid pigmentation in ripening fruits is highly dependent on developmental trajectories. Transcription factors incorporate developmental and phytohormone signalling to regulate the biosynthesis process. By contrast to the well-established pathways regulating ripening-related carotenoid biosynthesis in climacteric fruit, carotenoid regulation in non-climacteric fruit is poorly understood. Capsanthin is the primary carotenoid of non-climacteric pepper (Capsicum) fruit; its biosynthesis is tightly associated with fruit ripening, and it confers red pigmentation to the ripening fruit. In the present study, using a coexpression analysis, we identified an R-R-type MYB transcription factor, DIVARICATA1, and demonstrated its role in capsanthin biosynthesis. DIVARICATA1 encodes a nucleus-localised protein that functions primarily as a transcriptional activator. Functional analyses showed that DIVARICATA1 positively regulates carotenoid biosynthetic gene (CBG) transcript levels and capsanthin levels by directly binding to and activating CBG promoter transcription. Furthermore, an association analysis revealed a significant positive association between DIVARICATA1 transcription level and capsanthin content. ABA promotes capsanthin biosynthesis in a DIVARICATA1-dependent manner. Comparative transcriptomic analysis of DIVARICATA1 in Solanaceae plants showed that its function likely differs among species. Moreover, the pepper DIVARICATA1 gene could be regulated by the ripening regulator MADS-RIN. The present study illustrates the transcriptional regulation of capsanthin biosynthesis and offers a target for breeding peppers with high red colour intensity.

Fibromyalgia (FM) and climacteric conditions share common epidemiological and clinical features, with FM symptoms often beginning during menopause. Musculoskeletal pain, arthralgia, myalgia and other symptoms are frequently seen in both conditions. Some research suggests a link between the cessation of sex hormones and FM symptoms. Women with FM tend to experience more severe symptoms after menopause, and the severity of FM symptoms can worsen in women who have had a hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy. Despite these similarities, it is essential to treat FM and climacteric conditions separately and follow established guidelines for management. However, it is also important to recognize that both conditions can coexist in the same patient. It is crucial to note that there is limited evidence supporting the effectiveness of menopausal hormone therapy for primary FM management. Therefore, menopausal hormone therapy should not be recommended for FM unless the patient also has climacteric syndrome.

OBJECTIVES: The use of digital healthcare technologies to enhance healthcare delivery has seen significant growth. However, a notable a notable research gap exists in the application of clinical scales for menopause management by general practitioners (GPs). This study aims to investigate willingness of GPs to use specific menopausal scale tools in the care of females for menopause management. METHOD: An anonymous online survey was developed, which received responses from 348 French GPs in 2023. Multiple backward logistic regression was performed to identify the factors influencing the willingness to use a practical menopause management scale. RESULTS: In total, 87.93% of GPs are not familiar with the Greene Climacteric Scale and 90.52% are not familiar with the Menopause Quick 6 scale. In contrast, 90.52% would be interested in having access to such scales. The willingness to use a menopause management scale is associated with caring for menopausal females (odds ratio [OR] = 6.13, 95% confidence interval [CI] [2.08-18.08], p = 0.001), less experience (OR = 7.10, 95% CI [2.05-25.22], p = 0.002), the importance of health prevention in daily practice (comparing 'very important' to 'not', OR = 12.98, 95% CI [1.68-97.60], p = 0.004) and the use of a digital scale in daily practice for menopausal management (OR = 2.13, 95% CI [1.04-5.83], p = 0.014). CONCLUSION: Future research is essential in representative population to confirm these findings in menopause management.

PURPOSE: To analyze the effect of two 16-week interventions with jazz dance and concurrent training compared to a control group on anxiety, depression, stress, mood, and the perspective of aging in menopausal women, after 1-month, post-intervention, and at the 6-month follow-up. METHODS: 70 post-menopausal women (53.19 ± 3.39 years) randomized into 3 groups:intervention group with Jazz Dance (JD); intervention group with Concurrent Training (CT), and Control Group (CG). Both interventions lasted 16 weeks, with 60-min classes, JD with a frequency of two weekly classes, and CT three times a week. The intensity of the JD was progressive and according to the frequency of beats per minute of the songs. In CT, the aerobic an initial intensity of 60% of HRmax, reaching 90%, and resistance the volume of sets and loads increased progressively throughout the intervention. Questionnaires related to symptoms of anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale); stress (Perceived Stress Scale); mood (Brunel Mood Scale); and aging perspective (Sheppard Inventory) were applied. Intention-to-treat (ITT) and protocol adherence analysis were performed. RESULTS: In the protocol analysis, the JD showed improvements in anxiety and depressive symptoms after 1-month, which remained at the follow-up. The TC presented reduced anxiety and depressive symptoms after 16 weeks, which also remained at the follow-up. Considering stress, the CT showed improvements at all times and the JD post-intervention. As for mood, the CT presented reduced anger, mental confusion, and fatigue only after 1-month, and both exercise groups presented increased vigor at all times. CONCLUSION: Both interventions were beneficial, however dance showed immediate results for anxiety and depression, and concurrent training for stress. Considering mood, concurrent training was more effective for anger, mental confusion, and fatigue, while both interventions were effective for vigor. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the effects of melatonin intake on depression and anxiety in postmenopausal women. To identify RCTs examining the effect of melatonin supplementation on depression and anxiety scores in postmenopausal women, a comprehensive electronic search was conducted via the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Science direct, Google Scholar, PubMed, Medline, Scopus and Web of Science databases using the keywords ("melatonin" OR "N-acetyl serotonin") AND ("menopause" OR "climacteric") AND ("depression" OR "anxiety"). The search strategy was applied to articles published between January 2000 and April 2023. The Cochrane tool was used to evaluate the bias risk in RCTs. For the meta-analysis, fixed effect models and random effect models were employed based on heterogeneity. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis in Our Study guidelines were followed. Five RCTs were included in the study, with a total sample size of 441 (experimental: 227 and control: 214). When the effect of melatonin use on depression in menopausal women was analysed, it was found that melatonin significantly reduced menopausal depression (SMD - 0.166, CI = - 0.288/ - 0.045, p < 0.05). When the effect of melatonin use on anxiety in postmenopausal women was analysed, it was found that melatonin significantly improved menopausal anxiety (SMD - 0.806, CI = 1.491/ - 0.120, p < 0.05). Melatonin is promising as a potential treatment to help depression and anxiety in the postmenopausal period. More high-quality studies are needed to determine their safety.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between subclinical hypothyroidism with early menopause, premature menopause, and last menstrual bleeding before the natural age of menopause. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 643 postmenopausal women aged 40-69 years. Groups were formed according to last menstrual episode: ≥45 [Natural age at menopause], 40-44 and [Early menopause], <40 [Premature menopause], and <45 [last menstrual episode before the natural age of menopause]. The Zulewski scale was applied to identify manifestations related to hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism, diagnosed with a serum TSH > 4.5 µIU/mL plus T4-free between 0.7 and 1.9 ng/dL. RESULTS: It was found that 24.4% had the last menstrual episode before the natural age of menopause, 18.6% had early menopause, and 5.7% had premature menopause. Subclinical hypothyroidism was diagnosed in 4.5% of patients. Among women with subclinical hypothyroidism, there was a higher frequency of early menopause, premature menopause, and last menstrual episode before the natural age of menopause, than in women without subclinical hypothyroidism (p < 0.05). Paresthesia (50%) and dry skin (40.7%) were the most reported hypothyroidism-related manifestations. Early menopause, premature menopause, and last menstrual episode before the natural age of menopause were associated with subclinical hypothyroidism, OR: 3.37 [95% CI: 1.40-8.10], OR: 4.31 [95% CI: 1.24-14.97], and OR: 3.57 [95% CI: 1.57-8.10], respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The last menstrual episode before the natural age of menopause, early menopause, and premature menopause were significantly associated with a higher chance of subclinical hypothyroidism.

To evaluate the effect of yoga on the frequency of MetS and its impact on cardiovascular risk markers in climacteric women. We recruited 84 sedentary women between 40 and 65 years diagnosed with MetS. Participants were randomly assigned to a 24-week yoga intervention or control group. We evaluated the frequency of MetS and changes in the individual components of MetS at baseline and after 24 weeks. We also assessed the impact of yoga practices on cardiovascular risk through the following markers: High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein (hs-CRP), Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP), Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), and Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP). The frequency of MetS reduced significantly after 24 weeks of yoga practice (- 34.1%; p < 0.001). Statistical analysis showed that the frequency of MetS was significantly lower in the yoga group (65.9%; n = 27) than in the control group (93.0%; n = 40) after 24 weeks (p = 0.002). Regarding the individual components of MetS, yoga practitioners had statistically lower waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, triglycerides, HDLc, and glucose serum concentrations than the control group after 24 weeks. Yoga practitioners also had a significant decrease in hs-CRP serum concentrations (3.27 ± 2.95 mg/L vs. 2.52 ± 2.14 mg/L; p = 0.040) and a lower frequency of moderate or high cardiovascular risk (48.8% vs. 34.1%; p = 0.001) after 24 weeks of practice. The yoga group had LAP values significantly lower than the control group after the intervention period (55.8 ± 38.04 vs. 73.9 ± 40.7; p = 0.039). Yoga practice demonstrated to be an effective therapeutic to manage MetS and reduce cardiovascular risk in climacteric women.

This updated systematic review and meta-analysis aims to confirm the effectiveness of plant-based supplements in improving overall menopausal symptoms and vasomotor symptoms. A systematic review of the literature was conducted by searching the PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, and CENTRAL databases up to June 2022. Randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials that evaluated the effects of dietary supplements on menopausal symptoms were included. Outcome measures included daily hot flash frequency, Kupperman's index, Menopause Rating Scale, and Greene Climacteric Scale. Pooled data were analyzed using a fixed-effects model and expressed as a weighted mean difference with a 95% confidence interval for continuous outcomes. For qualitative assessment, 67 studies were selected. For quantitative assessment, 54 reports were obtained from 61 studies. The study participants were peri- or postmenopausal women aged 38-85, most of whom experienced hot flashes as a menopausal symptom. The investigational products included 28 soy-derived, 6 red clover-derived, and 28 other plant-derived supplements. Qualitative assessment revealed that approximately 76% of the studies were generally of fair or good quality, whereas 24% were of low quality. Meta-analysis results indicated significant improvements in all questionnaire scores, including hot flash frequency, in the dietary supplement group compared with the placebo group. Comprehensive evaluation using different questionnaire tools showed that the various plant-derived dietary supplements can significantly alleviate menopausal symptoms. However, further rigorous studies are needed to determine the association of plant-derived dietary supplements with menopausal health because of the general suboptimal quality and heterogeneous nature of current evidence.

An intrinsic and genetically determined ripening program of tomato fruits often depends upon the appropriate activation of tissue- and stage-specific transcription factors in space and time. The past two decades have yielded considerable progress in detailing these complex transcriptional as well as hormonal regulatory circuits paramount to fleshy fruit ripening. This non-linear ripening process is strongly controlled by the MADS-box and NOR family of proteins, triggering a transcriptional response associated with the progression of fruit ripening. Deepening insights into the connection between MADS-RIN and plant hormones related transcription factors, such as ERFs and ARFs, further conjugates the idea that several signaling units work in parallel to define an output fruit ripening transcriptome. Besides these TFs, the role of other families of transcription factors such as MYB, GLK, WRKY, GRAS and bHLH have also emerged as important ripening regulators. Other regulators such as EIN and EIL proteins also determine the transcriptional landscape of ripening fruits. Despite the abundant knowledge of the complex spectrum of ripening networks in the scientific domain, identifying more ripening effectors would pave the way for a better understanding of fleshy fruit ripening at the molecular level. This review provides an update on the transcriptional regulators of tomato fruit ripening.

The acute climacteric syndrome has a large scale of symptoms. Main symptoms are hot flashes and night sweats. Each symptom could be presented alone or commonly in combination with other symptoms. The acute climacteric syndrome is induced by decrease and fluctuations of estrogen and neurosteroids levels. Therapy could be focused on hormone replacement. Changes of quality of life and especially effects of the therapy could be measured by standardized questionaries.

Fruit ripening is an unfolding of a series of genetically-programmed modifications and tend to be highly orchestrated irrevocable phenomenon mediated by ethylene. Phytohormone ethylene also leads to over-ripening, senescence, loss of texture, microbial attack, reduced post-harvest life and other associated problems during storage and transportation of fruits. Its harmful impacts on fresh fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals result in substantial product losses even up to 80%. Curbing of this inevitable menace is therefore need of the hour. Accrual of ethylene in packaging system should fundamentally be ducked to extend the shelf-life and uphold an adequate superiority of perishables in visual and organoleptic terms. The current review discusses about properties, factors affecting and impact of ethylene, intimidation of its impact at gene vis-à-vis activity level using gene-modification/inhibition techniques, chemical/physical in conjunction with other suitable approaches. It also entails the most commercially cultivated approaches worldwide viz. KMnO4-based oxidation together with adsorption-based scrubbing of ethylene in thorough details. Future ethylene removal strategies should focus on systematic evaluation of KMnO4-based scavenging, exploring the mechanism of adsorption, adsorbent(s) behavior in the presence of other gases and their partial pressures, volatiles, temperature, relative humidity, development of hydrophobic adsorbents to turn-up under high RH, regeneration of adsorbent by desorption, improvement in photocatalytic oxidation etc. and further improvements thereof. Introduction: Menopausal symptoms in women are influenced by personality traits as well as physical and psychological characteristics. The effects of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) phobia on personality traits and menopausal symptoms in premenopausal and postmenopausal women were examined in this study. Material and methods: The study was conducted in a cross-sectional and descriptive design with 410 women. The data were collected using a descriptive data form, the COVID-19 phobia scale, the menopause rating scale, and the Cervantes personality scale. Results: In this study, 46.8% of the women were premenopausal and 53.2% were postmenopausal. The mean age was 42.9 ±1.97 years in premenopausal women and 50.9 ±2.94 years in postmenopausal women. The psychological, social, and total COVID-19 phobia scores were found to be higher in postmenopausal women than premenopausal women. Postmenopausal women showed more introverted personality traits than premenopausal women. COVID-19 phobia affected postmenopausal women more than premenopausal women in terms of psychological, social and all menopausal symptoms. As COVID-19 phobia increased, neurotic personality traits increased in premenopausal women, and introverted and neurotic personality traits increased in postmenopausal women (p < 0.05). Menopausal symptoms increased with neurotic personality traits in premenopausal women and with introverted personality traits in postmenopausal women (p < 0.001). Conclusions: COVID-19 phobia affected both groups in terms of menopausal symptoms and personality traits. For the management of menopausal symptoms, it is recommended to consider neurotic personality traits in premenopausal women and introverted personality traits in postmenopausal women.

Fleshy fruits of angiosperms are organs specialized for promoting seed dispersal by attracting herbivores and enticing them to consume the organ and the seeds it contains. Ripening can be broadly defined as the processes serving as a plant strategy to make the fleshy fruit appealing to animals, consisting of a coordinated series of changes in color, texture, aroma, and flavor that result from an intricate interplay of genetically and epigenetically programmed events. The ripening of fruits can be categorized into two types: climacteric, which is characterized by a rapid increase in respiration rate typically accompanied by a burst of ethylene production, and non-climacteric, in which this pronounced peak in respiration is absent. Here we review current knowledge of transcriptomic changes taking place in apple (Malus × domestica, climacteric) and grapevine (Vitis vinifera, non-climacteric) fruit during ripening, with the aim of highlighting specific and common hormonal and molecular events governing the process in the two species. With this perspective, we found that specific NAC transcription factor members participate in ripening initiation in grape and are involved in restoring normal physiological ripening progression in impaired fruit ripening in apple. These elements suggest the existence of a common regulatory mechanism operated by NAC transcription factors and auxin in the two species.

Fruit ripening involves numerous physiological, structural, and metabolic changes that result in the formation of edible fruits. This process is controlled at different molecular levels, with essential roles for phytohormones, transcription factors, and epigenetic modifications. Fleshy fruits are classified as either climacteric or non-climacteric species. Climacteric fruits are characterized by a burst in respiration and ethylene production at the onset of ripening, while regulation of non-climacteric fruit ripening has been commonly attributed to abscisic acid (ABA). However, there is controversy as to whether mechanisms regulating fruit ripening are shared between non-climacteric species, and to what extent other hormones contribute alongside ABA. In this review, we summarize classic and recent studies on the accumulation profile and role of ABA and other important hormones in the regulation of non-climacteric fruit development and ripening, as well as their crosstalk, paying special attention to the two main non-climacteric plant models, strawberry and grape. We highlight both the common and different roles of these regulators in these two crops, and discuss the importance of the transcriptional and environmental regulation of fruit ripening, as well as the need to optimize genetic transformation methodologies to facilitate gene functional analyses.

Fruit quality traits are determined to a large extent by their metabolome. The metabolite content of climacteric fruit changes drastically during ripening and post-harvest storage, and has been investigated extensively. However, the spatial distribution of metabolites and how it changes in time has received much less attention as fruit are usually considered as homogenous plant organs. Yet, spatio-temporal changes of starch, which is hydrolyzed during ripening, has been used for a long time as a ripening index. As vascular transport of water, and hence convective transport of metabolites, slows down in mature fruit and even stalls after detachment, spatio-temporal changes in their concentration are probably affected by diffusive transport of gaseous molecules that act as substrate (O2), inhibitor (CO2), or regulator (ethylene and NO) of the metabolic pathways that are active during climacteric ripening. In this review, we discuss such spatio-temporal changes of the metabolome and how they are affected by transport of metabolic gases and gaseous hormones. As there are currently no techniques available to measure the metabolite distribution repeatedly by non-destructive means, we introduce reaction-diffusion models as an in silico tool to compute it. We show how the different components of such a model can be integrated and used to better understand the role of spatio-temporal changes of the metabolome in ripening and post-harvest storage of climacteric fruit that is detached from the plant, and discuss future research needs.

BACKGROUND: Postmenopausal sexual function presupposes the integration of hormonal, neural, and vascular interactions and is subject to optimal crosstalk among psychological, interpersonal, cultural, and environmental factors. Sense of coherence (SOC) reflects a person's ability to cope with stressors and may influence the occurrence of menopausal symptoms and sexual dysfunction. AIM: To investigate the association of severity of climacteric symptoms, cardiometabolic risk factors, and SOC with sexual function in postmenopausal women. METHODS: Overall 281 sexually active postmenopausal women without significant psychopathology or cardiovascular disease attending the Menopause Unit of Aretaieion Hospital were evaluated by the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), Greene Climacteric Scale, Beck Depression Scale, and Sense of Coherence Scale. Hormonal and biochemical parameters and cardiometabolic risk factors were evaluated. FSFI scores <26.5 were considered pathologic. OUTCOMES: Total and subdomain scores of sexual response were determined. RESULTS: Pathologic FSFI scores were found in 79.7% of the sample. Linear models of multivariable regression analysis showed that FSFI scores were associated with (1) Beck scores (b = -0.200; 95% CI, -0.472 to -0.073, P = .001), vasomotor symptom severity (b = -0.324; 95% CI, -0.985 to 0.051; P < .001), and age and (2) SOC (b = 0.150, 95% CI, 0.036-0.331; P = .008), vasomotor symptom severity (b = -0.361; 95% CI, -0.743 to 0.245; P < .001), and age. Both models were adjusted for menopausal age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, type of menopause, and menopausal hormone therapy intake. SOC was associated with Beck depression scores (ß = -0.487, P < .001; Greene Climacteric Scale total scores, ß = -0.199, P < .001). FSFI score <26.5 vs >26.5 was associated with SOC (odds ratio, 0.982; 95% CI, 0.563 to 1.947; P = .006) and moderate to severe vasomotor symptom severity (odds ratio, 2.476; 95% CI, 1.478 to 3.120; P = .009) independent of age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, menopausal hormone therapy intake, type of menopause, or Beck depression classification. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: The results indicate the importance of psychometric assessment of postmenopausal women when presenting with scores of low sexual function. The severity of vasomotor symptoms should also be addressed in any case. STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS: This is the first study investigating the relationship between SOC and sexuality in menopause in a carefully selected homogenous population. Limitations included the cross-sectional design and the fact that sexual distress was not assessed. CONCLUSIONS: Pathologic FSFI scores were highly prevalent in this sample of postmenopausal women. FSFI is associated positively with age and severity of vasomotor symptoms and negatively with SOC.

Anthocyanins are important pigments that contribute to fruit quality. The regulation of anthocyanin biosynthesis by several transcription factors via sophisticated regulatory networks has been studied in various plants. Brassinosteroids (BRs), a new class of plant hormone, are involved in regulating anthocyanin biosynthesis in fruits. Furthermore, light directly affects the synthesis and distribution of anthocyanins. Here, we summarize the recent progress toward understanding the impact of BR and light on anthocyanin biosynthesis in climacteric and non-climacteric fruits. We review the BR and light signaling pathways and highlight the important transcription factors that are associated with the synthesis of anthocyanins, such as BZR1 (brassinazole-resistant 1, BR signaling pathway), HY5 (elongated hypocotyl 5) and COP1 (constitutively photomorphogenic 1, light signal transduction pathway), which bind with the target genes involved in anthocyanin synthesis. In addition, we review the mechanism by which light signals interact with hormonal signals to regulate anthocyanin biosynthesis.

Divergent opinions have been reported in the literature regarding the influence of the climacteric on the prevalence, incidence and types of urinary incontinence. In addition, the influence of hormonal therapy in the climacteric (HRT) on the occurrence of urinary incontinence in the perimenopausal period has been the subject of much discussion. This review evaluates the current literature regarding any possible association between the climacteric and the prevalence, incidence and types of urinary incontinence as well as illustrating the possible influence of HRT on urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence is more common in women than in men and there is evidence to suggest that the prevalence of urinary incontinence in women increases in a linear fashion with age. There is no conclusive evidence to support a specific increase in the prevalence of urinary incontinence at the time of the menopause. Stress urinary incontinence is more common in premenopausal women and urgency urinary incontinence and mixed incontinence are more common in postmenopausal women. Women receiving systemic estrogen, with or without progestogen, are more likely to develop or experience worsening of incontinence.

OBJECTIVE: The menopausal transition is an important milestone in female reproductive life. Many studies have been conducted to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women, but few of them focus on the climacteric population. This study aimed to investigate changes in the health and health care of climacteric women aged 40-70 years residing in Brazil during the pandemic period. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was carried out using an electronic form with questions related to sociodemographic, clinical and gynecological data, treatments, access to health services and changes in behavior. RESULTS: A total of 419 women answered the questionnaire. Sixty percent reported weight gain and 50.8% reported reduced physical activity practice. More than 80% reported worsening mental health and 66.1% had a change in their sleep pattern. More than half reported having difficulty accessing gynecological consultations and routine examinations. Women living in capital cities reported a greater change in alcohol consumption (p = 0.002). Income change was associated with a higher prevalence of weight gain (p = 0.033) and changes in sleep quality (p = 0.018). CONCLUSION: We observed an important reduction in the health care of climacteric women during the pandemic period, such as a decrease in medical consultations and preventive examinations, worsening of life habits and deterioration in mental health.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine changes over a 10-year period in experiencing climacteric symptoms and their associations with sociodemographic and health-related background factors in a birth cohort of Finnish women who have never used menopausal hormone therapy (MHT). METHODS: This nationwide population-based follow-up study consists of 1491 women who during the follow-up period moved from the age group 42-46 years to the age group 52-56 years. The experience of climacteric symptoms was assessed by 12 symptoms commonly associated with the climacterium. The data were analyzed using statistical techniques. RESULTS: Both the intensity, expressed as a symptom score of four symptoms associated with a decrease in estrogen production (sweating, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, sleeping problems), and the prevalence of the five most common symptoms (sweating, hot flushes, sleeping problems, lack of sexual desire, depressive symptoms) increased clearly during the follow-up period. The examined sociodemographic and health-related variables did not explain the changes in experiencing the symptoms. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study can be considered in primary and occupational health care and in gynecological settings when working with symptomatic women or women with hidden climacteric problems and carrying out health promotion and counseling for them.
